  1. was really hoping for a last second cut to him driving off again, and an HSF numberplate reveal. Apart from that, perfect content.

  2. If you’d have told me after Sligo that by this point we would have Stevie Hammell as manager and have McKinstry, Moult, Aarons and (what looks like) a decent left back on board, I would have told you to f**k off. Buzzing

  6. Dun Caan last weekend. I can't recommend a trip to Raasay highly enough. The distillery is a good wee stop off (we missed the tour) before heading up to camp on the top of Dun Caan. Genuinely right into my top 5 of summits and piss easy to get to carrying a load of camping and camera gear. I did however end up getting pished on whisky, can't remember getting into my tent and spewed my ringer at 2am. This made for an absolute fucker of a 6 hour journey home, comprising the midge-infested walk to the car, spending the 25 minute ferry crossing trying not to spew and a long drive home with one of the worst hangovers I've ever experienced. f**k ever touching a dram again

  12. Henry McLeish is the Gordon Brown of Scottish football. A useless old relic who has never had a good idea in his life, but is still dusted down every few months to spout his opinion on something.

  13. I have to say I like the look of McKirdy. Having read a bit about him and having a quick look at his instagram, he seems to be a total bam. I think the bam to normal ratio in the squad has been off for a while now so good to see that the recruitment team have taken steps to address that issue. Now it’s time to browse the free agent market for a maverick, ball carrying, South American playmaker who may or may not smoke 40 fags a day.

  22. The whole recent post-covid thing of fans taking part in pitch invasions for just any random game Is utterly embarrassing and cringe in the extreme. We've had at least 3 in the last few months that spring to mind, and I really hope we just stop.

  24. Still don't think folk realise striking workers don't get paid and don't earn pension contributions. They might get some solidarity payments from the union but they are losing out financially every day they are out. Well in. If you work in local govt and you know a binman or school janny/cleaner you owe them a pint.

  29. That was a proper cigars-out transfer window. Absolutely outstanding business and held onto basically everyone we'd want to, aside from probably Alnwick (though Carson is clearly more than decent). Almost every incoming player is also a pler, with jury only out on Olysanya still. Seriously, while the dealings aren't as flashy as the historic summer of 2011, I cant remember a summer of such undiluted quality coming into the club. I saw someone rating Callum Davidson's permanent transfers on the Fakes thread. There were six that were ranked as successes. Robinson has just brought in Carson, Gogic, Gallagher, Strain, Baccus, O'Hara and Ayunga. There's seven already. What a hit rate. Such a shame we're ~£10m in debt and going bust imminently as this season was looking promising.

  31. Salary caps will never happen. We can even see the example from the attempts down in England to impose them on the EFL that it's not workable when dealing with clubs of hugely different sizes. The only solution is a complete re-working of income distribution in football. People always roll their eyes when you talk about other sports, but the American and Australian sports models are designed to make their sports competitive and interesting and they work. Across their different sports they use ideas like salary caps, weighted drafts, play-offs, shared income models. We can't use all of those things in Scottish football, but we can use some of them. It's basically a very simple question. Do you want to have meaningful and interesting competition or do you just want to see your team win all the time? A lot of the Old Firm fans on here have pretty much already answered that question. I often feel quite jealous at the play-off stage of the NRL, for example, watching great games between really good sides and knowing that any one of a number of them could actually win the competition. Shock horror, people get excited and it becomes a great event. Brisbane Broncos don't get to just say to Manly, f**k you, that's our money, we're going to beat you 60-0 all the time. Brisbane have the highest revenues in the NRL, but haven't won it since 2006. Dallas Cowboys are the biggest in terms of revenue in NFL, but haven't won a superbowl since 1995. We could have that in Scotland. Football could be exciting. But we don't, because we let the Glasgow Tories run it.

  32. It is btw *peak* P and B for someone who witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall not as a border guard, or a member of the Politburo, or an ordinary German citizen, but rather 'watching footage' thousands of miles away on their fat arse to describe themselves as an eyewitness to history Whose Insights Must Be Validated. On behalf of the oral history community: don't call us, we'll call you instead.

  33. His 5th transfer window saw Brad McKay, Joe Shaughnessy, Liam Craig, Graham Cummins and John Sutton all join permanently, then Darnell Fisher on loan. He moved on Frazer Wright, Gary Miller, Lee Croft and James McFadden. So ageing/deadwood out, 5 under 30s signed with 4 permanent, and one ill suited over 30 to satisfy the weird obsession he had for a while with signing a immobile lump up front. Shaughnessy, Craig, and Cummins, all managed to approach or beat 100 games for us. Tweaking/refining your squad, bringing in the next set of regulars which will then allow you just tweak/refine in future windows. Just now under CD we've signed almost a whole new starting 11 in 2 consecutive windows, the average age of the squad is up, and its unlikely we see any of his permanent signings over that period reach 100 games besides Drey Wright.

  38. This situation really beggars belief. We have two sets of supporters squabbling with one another about the extremely poor treatment of away supporters (customers) accommodation, with, in this particular case, Morton fans basing their arguments on the team they support. Cappielow has four sides and it might be a good idea to welcome away fans by dedicating an area to away fans where they have plenty of room and a good view of the action. As Ayr supporters we have had many situations where we have been shoehorned into a corner of an away ground with awful views of the match and sometimes not enough room for all of us to fit in. Meanwhile, large expanses of the ground is empty. Away supporters at Somerset suffer the same situation when they are often forced to sit in the far corner of the west stand. There should be less contention between rival fans and more of a joint insistence on every team’s fans being given consideration as paying customers. The argument that clubs need to keep their costs down is ludicrous. If any of our clubs cannot afford the cost of treating customers with a little dignity, maybe they shouldn’t be in the entertainment business. The bottom line in all of this is that Morton and Ayr fans, in this instance, should not be enemies, they should be supporting one another.

  39. This is the type of signing we've all been hoping Hibs make. I think he's going to start off brilliantly. Then he'll act like a bam off the park. Will end up struggling on the park before having his contract terminated by 'mutual consent '. Fans of the other diddies mentioning him as an option for the following five years.
