  1. a couple of weeks ago I was collecting a few pallets out of a place in an industrial estate and I heard a bit of commotion outside the truck. I looked down and the magpies had a little green parakeet pinned down. I chased them off and gathered him up. They had pulled his tail feathers off and he was terrified.he wouldn't have lasted much longer. He had escaped from a bird shop in the estate but the owner only returned my call when I was 30 miles away. He sounded like a dick so I sent him a message later saying I was fond of the bird and wanted to keep it so he said go ahead. Now we are best pals. His tail feathers are growing back already.

  2. I think the purpose of this thread by the person who started it was for people to have the opportunity to leave their condolences, show their respect and share their memories of Andy Goram. If people have a different view, I’d suggest not posting on this thread. Point scoring is not appropriate.

  4. McMaster played his first game today in the NL cup. Played well and was one of the better players on the park. He’ll probably play again tomorrow (a weekend tournament) but first signs are good. Will be happy to give you updates from time to time!

  5. Three Scotsmen in Odense Stadion in 1979 for a challenge match between a Danish League Select and Liverpool, part of a series of games to celebrate 75 years of League Football in Denmark. Graeme Souness scoring with Frank McGarvey in the background. The keeper on the deck is my uncle, who played in Denmark at the time (also played junior for Ardrossan, Port Glasgow and Greenock). Liverpool won 5-2.

  11. I have always had a fascination for floodlights. This photo is a bloke climbing the Hampden pylons, with a cloot in his back pocket, to clean the lights. No safety gear, no special clothing, just a lot of bottle. The game was different then, but working practices were differenter! As ever, an utterly shameless, mercenary, and downright blummin' cheap-ass (I don't know how I get away with it!) attempt at publicity for Lifted Over The Turnstiles Volumes 2 and 3, which are back in shops after selling out the first print run.

  16. Absolute heads-gone about a pre season game, some of whom probably didn't watch the game. The season (the real season) is a month or so away. Steady on FFS. Look back at Ray Mckinnons pre season in 2015-2016 for context.

  20. Just come across this thread...........it only seems like a couple of days ago that I read AG's twitter that he'd been given only weeks by his consultant ..........I am feeling incredibly sad and teary-eyed that he has gone, a guy that gave immense pride and pleasure to innumerable Scottish fans of every stripe, let's put the rivalry shit in abeyance tonight...............58 y.o. is nothing.............guys like him don't come along very often and for me at least, the guy never lost his roots, despite his personal demons, and maybe that's why he resonated with so many fans all over Scotland. A sad loss for us all.......

  22. Telfer looked good. Frizzell played with the freedom Easton played with last season. Rae didn’t have too much to do but his kicking seems a massive improvement on what we’ve had recently.

  24. We're never going to replace Easton like for like but I think Telfer would be a great signing. His output in a rubbish Falkirk team last season was actually decent and he would fit into the style of play we seem to be going for again. A midfield three of McCabe, Frizzell and Telfer would lack a bit of physicality but we got away with that last season through dominating the ball. That might be trickier this season but it would certainly be a good base to build from.

  25. Callum Wilson is at RB and Lynas at LB. Anyway. This has been entertaining for a friendly. We look good going forward and the link up between Waldo and Byrne has been very promising. Wallace's goal was a beauty of a move and he's looked sharper than I expected. Unfortunately we still cannot defend and look like conceding everytime they get beyond the half way. David Wilson was robbed of possession on the edge of box for the opener and the second was an absolute screamer of a strike.

  28. Andy Goram has died, almost an Ayr player after he was training with the club and was due to play on the Saturday but was poached by Man United. Coached Davie Hutton under Roberts and played for Motherwell against Ayr in probably the best Ayr game I've ever seen. His wife used to sell 50/50 draw tickets at the club as well.

  29. Ah, the Tucker Carlson strategy. Here's a bunch of questions that I could easily Google, but I'd rather seethe in my performative ignorance. It's an odd way to spend a happy, satisfied retirement, but each to their own.

  30. I can see how an ‘Adam’ could be extremely disruptive in an organisation. When someone fundamentally believes they are more knowledgeable than anyone else in the team and when they are looked up to by a section of the workforce then they pretty much have to be the boss or they need emptied. Bowyer (or any new manager) has to come in and win Charlie over before he can manage the rest of the team, everyone listening to the manager then looking at Charlie to see whether to take the managers words on board. Not for me. It was fine will it lasted, it’s over, we move on.

  40. If we want to get out of this league, let’s face it - the current lot of charlatans from last season ain’t going to do it. If we had any aspirations of getting up, there’s enough people in the town (out with the BOD) that could put a deal to get Sibbald on board. Yes we’re not signing shite last yesteryear and yes there’s four weeks to go, just hope that after throwing a wad at Griffiths it’s not burnt bridges for going someone clearly miles better. The club have just been massively backed yet again, against the most troubled times in past few decades, hope the club show some ambition.

  41. Deanston 10-2 Killearn Forth and Endrick League The game was a clash between 2 sides that have been doing well this season, but it turned out surprisingly one-sided. Killearn did have some chances though but they were very poor at finishing. Deanston could even have scored more, but once they scored their tenth just after the hour mark, they took their strong striker off and were happy with the score.
