  1. Possibly the worst troll attempt seen on this forum over the last few years, and we’ve had to deal with Trump supporting Airdrie fans coming in periodically. An absolute shiter.

  2. 0/10 effort from Dindeleux. The fella was an outstanding talent who didn't get the full recognition his talents deserve. Should have played for Scotland in my opinion and was a player I enjoyed watching even as an opponent. People will remember him and his ability for years to come. Gary Holt, nah not so much.

  3. Got home last night, from a 3 week holiday in the states and Canada. On the penultimate day of our holiday, I made the glorious decision to take all our clothes to a laundrette. Picked the clothes up later that day, washed and folded for a paltry sum of $25 (£15). This meant arriving home without having to bother with suitcases of washing to do. It’s probably the greatest £15 I’ve ever spent in my entire life.

  6. Best of luck to them with that but it has hee haw chance of getting off the ground. I don't pay much attention to the politics of this stuff but surely the time to make these proposals was about a decade ago when they actually had a full membership and perhaps a bit of clout when it came to having their voice taken seriously?

  7. The bottom line is the SJFA is embarrassing themselves in a desperate attempt to remain relevant. The PWG is to meet to look at the overall pyramid picture after the B team fiasco, and yet we get this utter tripe from the SJFA. A complete distraction. The quicker the members vote to dissolve the association and distribute the funds amongst them the better. We need to move on.

  11. I find myself wondering if those discussing any particular income tax rates in Scotland are comparing like with like. Mrs Salt and Vinegar and your humble servant are retied (early!). We both receive free prescriptions, have had free bus travel since we were 60 and our younger lad had a tuition-free BSc at a Scottish University. My wife also receives an enhanced carers' allowance for our younger lad. I'm certainly not saying that these aspects are tie-breakers, but they do, to me suggest a different Scottish viewpoint on important issues and there's little point in analysing costs without also taking account of what you are "buying".

  12. Folk give you shit for being a boring statto but I actually like when you post stuff like this. It gives good insights to the type of player someone is outwith what appears on YouTube videos that could even reasonably make me look competent as a footballer.

  13. It’s not pettiness. Either they are in the Lowland or not. They should not expect to be able to dictate when matches are played to suit their own convenience.

  14. Happy fathers day to all the dads out there. I hope you've all enjoyed your day. Never take the love of your dad or your children to you as a dad for granted but at the same time I feel it's sometimes underrated.

  16. It will be 3 up/down next season, and the Second Division will be reduced to 16 clubs for 23/24 so I guess it will be 5 down for them. The Premier can expand upto 18 clubs if there is a net gain of 2 clubs from the LL. Third division will play 36 games, and I assume 3 up from that. Armadale Thistle are sharing with Bathgate as they are getting Volunteer Park converted to 3g. Edinburgh South sharing with Edinburgh Utd, and of course Leith Athletic returning to Meadowbank.

  18. Admittedly, stolen from a scottish football Facebook page. A rundown of appearances in the 79-80 season. Aberdeen were champions. Hibs and Dundee relegated. United won their first ever scottish league cup.

  20. I don’t think Oran Kearney ever got the credit he deserved for that window. To save us from certain relegation after the Stubbs debacle was a quite incredible achievement. The penalty shoot out and Vaclav Hladky will live long in the memory.

  21. Media hoor. Something that does grate on my gentle Edinburgh ears is Tam's pronunciation of "Shandon". He pronounces it almost like two words meaning a rotten Aberdeen fan. In the unlikely event I'm ever on the show I shall be pronouncing "Motherwell" as "Shi Teh Ole" to teach him.

  22. As much as Charlie Adam was by far our best player and the reason we gained so many points, he largely throttled the side and forced us to play with a 3 man midfield and one up top. With McMullan, McCowan & McGinn our wide options are absolutely deadly compared to what we had the last time in the Championship which was McDaid & McGowan. We have Mulligan breaking through adding more energy to the midfield. We have an upgraded goalkeeper in Legzdins compared to Hamilton. We have on paper, a more potent striker in Rudden than we did in Mullen. Our defence has worked together now for multiple seasons and has the ability to go from two hammer throwing types in Ashcroft & Sweeney to pairing one of them with the more mobile and ball-playing McGhee whom let's not forget was pretty much our PotY when he was CH in the Championship. Yes, we do need additions, but I don't think our squad is in a terrible place right now. Few key additions should see this be a stroll. I realise it's Dundee and it'll never be a stroll but the standard of this league this season looks set to be at an all time low. No reason why we can't. It might not be pretty on the eye but results are what matters. Bowyer can't afford to make mistakes in his incomings though as they'll be the difference makers IMO.

  23. Andy Dibble to replace Hinchliffe then. Most recently GK coach at Cardiff (as of last month) - https://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/news/andy-dibble-departs-cardiff-city The Record doing as the Record does...he played 5 games for Aberdeen in 1990 and 7 games for Rangers in 1997. Also an excuse to share...

  24. Managed my ultra marathon yesterday, Carlisle to Newcastle. 70 miles all in. Absolutely horrendous incline with 5,000 ft total elevation. Blisters on my feet from 33 miles in, the medical team popped them but advised they’d come back worse and my god they didn’t half. Could barely move from mile 45 but had an emergency anti chafe tube the medical team gave me so got rid of my compeeds at mile 62 and covered myself in it and hobbled the last 8 miles. I’m a broken man today but the medal is in the bag!

  25. Ah the SJFA are always good for a laugh with batshit crazy ideas that boil down to “Mon the Juniors”. After many years of arguing we’ve finally got a pyramid with everyone who wants in able to join and the whole country covered. Is it finished No but we’ve only just formed it and had 2 pandemic hit seasons. Get everyone round the table and let’s sort the two bottlenecks, get ALL Colt teams into the sea and look at a possible merger between the South and West League's as surely more South teams will follow Bonnyton and Threave. The bones of the pyramid are there we just need to fix the problems with a bit of compromise between the Associations.

  27. The bottle neck with the Lowland League has to go. But no solution to that involves the SJFA. The whole pyramid needs reformed to be fair, but resistance from the Old Firm over a 16 team league would stop it at the top and Lowland League’s superiority complex stops it in the middle. For the SJFA, surely overtime and once the current tier 6 west league is diluted from ex junior clubs with Drumchapel and St Caodcs coming up and Lowland League clubs coming down then the time for Saturday’s to be put aside for the SJFA has to end?

  29. Whilst your point is valid, it often can be very important to recognise that things that happen are not someone's fault. Many issues are not binary and have fault on both sides, but some things can be the fault of one party, even if the other party had no idea before. Mr Alli, going by his post, tried to do what he thought was right (and I would agree with his actions), but it turned out a bit shit for him. I don't think he did anything wrong. @Mr. Alli, your reaction is a very standard one and nothing to ashamed of. If you did get fucked up to help deal with, don't beat yourself up about it. See it as a setback on the road to recovery. Folk who recover from addiction issues or dependency issues don't just decide one day to get better and never do it again. It's a process and it takes time and commitment, and almost everyone will 'relapse' at some point. That happens and it's part of the process for the vast majority of folk. It's not a linear path; it isn't "thanks, I'm cured". It's an ongoing process. With time it does get easier and the cravings reduce, and the want to medicate with your drug of choice lessens, but it takes effort always. If you slip up it just means you're human. As long as you keep working towards your goal, it's all good.

  30. Keiss 5-2 Top Joe's Caithness AFA Division Two A trip to the far north this weekend. A massive slope on the pitch, but absolutely stunning surroundings for football. I was there with a group of Dutch people, Top Joe's were short of players and asked us if any of us play football, they got 2 from our group. A 16 year old boy, the son of a friend of mine, scored for them!

  31. McDowall and his crew are clearly just as delusional as TJ & co ever were but at least TJ was semi-literate. That garbled nonsense should have any remaining sensible member clubs running a mile from the SJFA, never mind rejoining! Darvel, Glencairn, Bellshill, RA?

  34. Leaving it to the discretion of an employee (in any business) means that enforcement will almost certainly discriminate against certain types of passengers based on class, age and gender. TL;Dr version: 'scum' football fans will get targeted, while wine-drinking 40 year old women from Bearsden will be allowed to shriek like banshees regardless.

  35. Nothing good can come of us signing Louis Moult. He's barely kicked his own arse since he left us, his knee(s) appears shot to pieces and he's now in his 30s. He was a fantastic player for us, but let the past stay in the past.

  36. You have to be as good as your plan and block her out. Obviously, if she comes to your door thats hard, but you cant keep going back to having some sort of contact with her, then ignoring, then back again. You are going to have to freeze her out as a part of the toxicity you are trying to get away from. People who were involved in that version of you will not let that version of you go. The version you want doesn't exist to them and they are not invested in letting you make it. No good can come of continued contact. Ruthless ignore.

  37. No mate. Most jobs, and I imagine all who are unionised, go in for yearly pay negotiations, which generally entail wrangling over a rise. This has happened to me in every workplace, for every year of my 20 year working life. Where they sit in relation to the minimum wage is completely and utterly irrelevant, and I have genuinely no idea why it keeps on getting mentioned on here other than some rather weird attempt to shame people for their salary. Most Unions go in for an RPI rise, maybe if they have some specific axe to grind they might tag something esle on there. Most companies obviously cite CPI with it being lower and obviously try to low ball. Generally they meet somewhere in the middle. It happens, every single year. Its whats happening now. And yet for some reason its suddenly completely out of order and is now taking food off the table of lower earners. Absolute pish.

  42. Talking of which.. as a Father’s Day treat I’m getting to paint my daughter’s bedroom. She wanted a magnetic blackboard section and we agreed to “bleed” it around the edge of a wall. I’d pictured a gentle wavy line but she appears to have stencilled some giant cocks.
