  1. Welcome Bonnyrigg to the hallowed lands of SPFL2. A few comments here to answer the FAQ which came out of the play off threads: WHERE THE HECK IS BONNYRIGG - just off the Lasswade junction of the Edinburgh City Bypass. The town is a commuter suburb of Edinburgh, a gathering sprawl of houses, expanding rapidly southwards. Put EH19 3AE into your mapping software of choice. WHERE DO I GET PARKED - use a bit of common sense, and you will be fine. The town centre is fairly small, and there are no huge car parks as such. On-street parking is the way to go. You'll find a space no bother. Supporters Buses would be best aiming for Sherwood Industrial Estate, a touch downhill from the ground. TRAINS - to Eskbank. 1.5 miles walk to the ground, or catch a bus from the adjacent Tesco. BUSES - probably quicker than the train from the city centre. Get the #31. Times at www.travelinescotland.com journey planner. Exact fare only on bus, but they take contactless. PINTS - both the Calderwood and Roses Social Club are each within a few steps from the turnstiles. Other options available in the town centre. In Lasswade village there are a couple of decent pubs, but a stiff uphill walk to the ground from there. Bus does stop outside. Couple of other options for those who like a craft beer type pint, the Cross Borders Brewery is directly beside Eskbank Station and does a tap room of a Saturday. Stewart's Brewery in Loanhead does an excellent pizza at its tap room, that's only three miles away. GRUB - town centre has usual selection of bakers, sandwich shops, chippy and so on. Gigi's Italian is excellent for a restaurant lunch option. Also at Hardengreen just off A7 lies a number of drive throughs and a petrol station too, should your car be thirsty. Good pies at the stadium. OTHER STUFF TO DO - Scottish Mining Museum in Newtongrange (2.5 miles), Dalkeith Country Park (2.5 miles). WALKS - old railway pathway runs out as far as Penicuik. Newbattle Abbey woods. Polton woods over towards Loanhead. Pentland Hills not terribly far away either. THE PITCH HAS A SLOPE - yes it does. SEAN CONNERY - yes he did. NDP - some will like it, some will find it a bit lacking in those things modern stadia have like faded plastic seats and expensively constructed but rapidly crumbling grandstands. It is what it is. A lot of work has been done to it to get the licence, more is being done this summer, I dare say more will be done as they grow the club. They're spending within their means and the place is absolutely fine to cope with an average SPFL2 sized crowd. PRICES - season tickets £160/£90/£40/U12s free. PATG £12/£7/U12s free. PROGRAMME - sometimes. SQUAD - not much announced yet. Hope you enjoy your trips through, and happy to help if you have any questions.

  2. In the midst of all that’s happening at the moment, think we should give a shout to @GNU_Linux for providing weekly updates and season summary for each of the leagues. An all round good egg. Thank you sir!

  3. That's 4 current or former Motherwell players in the squad then? Some laugh when the Bathgate Maldini gets his call up. Actually, where's Declan? Surely after his big move last summer he should be a shoo in for a spot.

  4. Folk are rightly pointing out that there's a difference in our circumstances because we built a c.5k stand with the express intention of being able to house OF fans in it but fwiw Burrows articulates our position on the subject well in this reply to a Celtic fan. Tbh, I'd have thought it'd be something that Lasley would be mindful of.

  6. Laughing my wee nips off at Darren Miller. An absolute fanny of a man and he thinks he's Paul Pogba or something. Those pics with the money sprayed all over the dressing room is the biggest cringe I've ever seen. Get it right up him.

  8. How many big occasions is now that Liverpool fans have behaved atrociously? Heysel: basically directly responsible for the deaths of Juve fans, blamed the police, Juve fans for goading them and the stadium being such a wreck that they were able to throw bits of it at Juve fans. Istanbul: Liverpool fans without tickets (shock) tried to force access to an already sold out stadium. Last night: see above, blame the authorities because their dipshit fans bought fake tickets, couldn't get in and caused a massive delay. See also forcing access. Hillsborough was a complete tragedy and the fault of the police and other authorities, making it very much the outlier. Liverpool fans have an exceptionally large massive element of selfish, moronic cretins. They're definitely the old firm of English football, possibly worse. Issuing tear-stained statements merely cements this view. You can't behave like arseholes then shoehorn Hillsborough references in and expect to absolved of blame. c***s.

  9. He is a major sponsor. Don’t think he is anything more than that. If Bowie decided not to have him more involved than that then he has done the right thing as Gall’s a bombscare. Thank god he isn’t more involved as his comments lack any thought or class. If he made comments like that if involved at Killie he’d bring the club into disrepute. John Gall, Kennedy, Darren Miller and others have created a dislike for Darvel. It’s not jealousy. It’s the fact that they are all classless, arrogant, unlikeable characters as their social media interactions illustrate. They thought they’d steam roll the leagues and playoffs and get into the SPFL. That was the plan. Don’t be surprised that fans of other clubs are taking pleasure in the fact they have failed with that plan despite the money invested. Lot of money simply to finish above Talbot. Things like saying “Unlucky Talbot”, “Lowland League Here We Come” on video when winning the league, the pinned tweet with the Money and the comments We Never Stop aren’t going to endear the club or players to anyone. Never Stop. Derailed and crashed. Let’s see what happens when the money stops and where the club ends up. They have guaranteed themselves a warm welcome from fans at WOSFL clubs season. Top of the league for the most disliked club in the West of Scotland from top to bottom including the owner, manager, coaching staff and players. Major achievement in such a short space of time.

  10. A great comfort to pubs in the city centres that lost millions of pounds of custom through no fault of their own, I'm sure. At least it has been a vintage couple of years for them beforehand. Next up, why nurses should move to work in a hospital within walking distance, because a public transport system can no longer service their shift patterns!

  11. Quite why Liverpool and their tear-drenched pundits are surprised that a world class goalkeeping display might be seen in the world's most elite match in competitive football is beyond me. Who were they expecting Real Madrid to field in goal: Cammy Bell or David Hutton?

  12. "Not quite as many Liverpool fans were behaving like arseholes as initially thought" isn't a great defence tbh, especially given their previous.

  15. As a Whitburn fan,I long campaigned and kicked up the dust about our committee's insistence in staying put....... I have no complaints, nor am I finger pointing at the EoSFL for where we now are...... Thankfully and most crucially we have made it to the EoSFL 2nd Division at the 1st time of asking. Hopefully we can get promoted again this time next year into what will be a tougher 1st Division. Loving the journey so far and really looking forward to seeing teams that either haven't been to Central Park or not been there for a long time Also some great away days on the cards next season too

  18. Can't believe there's any resistance at all to refusing the Old Firm both ends from St Mirren fans. Why would you want to simultaneously reduce your chances of getting a result at home and piss off a good number of your home support to trouser an extra few tens of thousands of pounds a season? Killie packed that guff in years ago and I can safely say there would be very few (if any tbh) who would want to return to that horror show.

  19. the notion that any team in this division is going to lie down in a play-off is tinfoil helmet stuff. Darvel were desperate to go up ffs. In 10 years time you might well have some sort of evidence to point to if Talbot have won 6 leagues and no play-offs but it's just the fevered ramblings of dimwits at the moment.

  20. About 25 minutes in the commentators were saying how Madrid would be happy because 'they still hadn't conceded', as if they they were some lower league cup side. Ridiculous levels of arrogance.

  28. Whit a load of shit. If Talbot started flinging games then it would be my cue to do one. We just couldn't keep up the pace as we were fighting on all fronts and poor draws cost us the league. As Henry said on TV "Were in it to win it". As for the SJC the Juniors were our home for 100+ years its an honour to take part in the final.

  32. Jeez oh, no amount of you howling at the moon will change the fact that at the start of this season every team knew where they were and every team knew where they would consequently be next season through their finishing positions. Your one man campaign to see that all ripped up and rehashed because you feel that the rump of West Lothian teams who failed time and time and time again to see that the writing was on the wall for the junior game - despite them being implored to make the move to the EoSFL before they eventually had no option - should be hoisted to a position higher than others you deem unworthy is as tedious as it is fruitless. Beds were made and, to their credit at least on this, the ex-juniors are willing to lie in them. Only you appear unwilling to refrain from beating a dead horse.

  38. Absolutely - the most reluctant ones seemed to fall into two categories; the ones nearer the bottom of the pile who are run by a handful of older dyed-in-the-wool sorts, and the ones who were content to be huge fish in a small pool hoovering up honours and were wary of the realistic prospect of advancing fairly quickly to a level where they were likely to get hosed every week. As I said, I'd put the number at anything up to 20 clubs who joined the WOS more or less unwillingly because there was unlikely to be anything viable to remain in. If you look back through the old "Junior football - what is the future" megathread it's those ones who only broke cover and declared interest towards the very tail end of the application period when it was clear that regardless of what they thought well over half of the West Region was getting out of Dodge and potentially leaving them high and dry. There was more of an appetite for change than most of the clubs are given credit for though - I was at the two meetings at Hampden and EK just before the first lockdown, and although there wasn't too much chance to mingle and shoot the shit I managed a few words with folk from other clubs at Hampden, including reps from a couple of "traditional" clubs I'd always assumed to be entrenched in the junior at all costs mindset. They'd done their homework though and were all for the WOS...that's when I knew it was definitely happening.

  39. Very Italy v England vibes here (minus the penalty hilarity of course) with the winners beating actual good teams on the way and the losers getting the easiest path imaginable (including the worst German side in 20 years).
