  1. I'll start this post by saying I haven't spoken to dad all week, therefore what I'm about to post is solely my opinion. I also know that many of you know what FW is like. Pitch; after several years of large numbers of postponements costing clubs and leauge money, is it any wonder a decision was taken at the start of the season, especially with uncertainty of COVID around, too ensure there wasn't a massive backlog games. Especially with play off date to be met, had it been tight at the bottom. A retired referee in my opinion is more than qualified. In fact I'd bet the secretary's dug would know that the pitch wasn't playable. It was also a pre inspection. They could've made an effort before the actual inspection. I'm going to say this and I maybe shouldn't but the club were granted disponsation on Friday afternoon by Maxwell at the SFA. However they didn't answer the calls made to tell them and the next thing was the withdrawal. For context, my dad was the depute at the high school I went too, involved in politics and football all my life. As such we all have pretty thick skins as used to people not agreeing with him. But that statement which basically calls dad clueless and a lier has really fucked me off. Yes he's not some infallible Saint who makes mistakes. But he spent hours trying to help fort William that week and for them to publically say such things, safe in the knowledge that dad is too dignified to reply sums up the board of FW. Hopefully they boycott the end of season dinner and the rest of the leauge can celebrate them fucking off to NCL. Whom I feel sorry for as many good people involved there too. Grumpy old fart he may be, but a lier and ignorant of the leauge rules he is not. /Rantends

  2. See this "it'll take years to turn around" chat? Dunfermline finished 7th in League One, even further away from the top four than you were, then won the title by 18 points the following season. They were also still saddled with several of the players who'd taken them to their worst season ever; shockingly, many of them actually improved under a better manager. They even had Brad McKay! While League One is looking a much stronger league next season than it was in 15/16 and anyone strolling to the title as Dunfermline did therefore isn't realistic, the point stands that claiming a manager has no hope of an immediate turnaround with Falkirk's relatively huge budget is ridiculous. If you continue to languish miles outside the playoffs it'll be because you've appointed another complete dud, nothing else. As for the McGlynn discussion, if anyone objects to having him as manager because of Goodwillie then fair enough, I'd feel the same way. Arguing on the grounds of managerial ability alone that he's not actually done that good a job with Raith and Falkirk should be looking for better is a wild take though. You could have a valid question mark on his performance at Hearts and Livingston of whether he's someone who's just a good fit at one club, but his record with Raith not being impressive? Twice he's taken them over in the third tier, twice he's won the title then turned them into a top half second tier side. While it took three seasons the first time, the state Raith were in off the park on the back of the Anelka season and owners actively trying to make them homeless makes Falkirk over the last five years look like a model of competence. He had none of the financial advantages Falkirk managers have had, and even when failing to win promotion he at least never failed to make the playoffs. The one thing Falkirk haven't tried since being in League One is just going and getting a manager who has a track record of getting teams promoted from it. It's the obvious thing to do when you've hit this much of a rut. On football reasons alone McGlynn is therefore an outstanding candidate as he can also point to a track record of establishing teams in the second tier as well. As I said I agree with discounting him on the grounds of Goodwillie, but claiming his record isn't that great for where Falkirk are now is just silly.

  4. What's not helping things is both clubs putting out statements pointing the finger at the other teams fans while taking no responsibility for or acknowledging the behaviour of their own. f**k the old firm.

  5. It's the calling card of a moron tbh. They've heard someome say "roll 'n' sausage" and taken it as "on" rather than "and". Similar to morons who say "could of". The fact that large parts of the population thinks "roll on sausage" is correct and its others who are morons is a stain on this country.

  6. Brethren/Bhoys and ghirls, We at Ibrox/Celtic Park have been entrusted with a sacred mission, to cherish and uphold the traditions of our forefathers who fought in days of yore/wore the green in Dublin, to hand down to us, the chosen few/faithful through and through, the glory and honour of our great institutions, to which many aspire but few are admitted. The dignity and decorum, not only of our guiding hands in the boardroom who are honoured to have been chosen for such a prestigious role, but also our fans in the stands who are renowned for their sportsmanship and football acumen, is acknowledged by all in sport, and indeed across wider society, and our teams are welcomed wherever they go, great ambassadors for Scotland/Ireland. However, we must remain ever vigilant, aware that our enemies are ever ready to take advantage of any perceived weakness, and be on our guard to man the walls/barricades at a moment's notice should the need arise, and confound their nefarious/perfidious plots and schemes, which will, as always, come to nothing because of the loyalty of our staunch support/prayers of our Holy Father. 9. Jezo some folk are jumping the shark on here , if there are 3 year deals getting handed out its won't be players who have hardly started a game since new year Baird and big Marcus are obviously out the door Muirhead is heavily linked with OotS if anyone is getting these "bumper multi year deals" It will be going to be McInroy, Maxwell, Tomi, Dempsey, Murdoch and maybe Paddy players who the club think they can develop more and move on at a profit in the next few years.

  10. Wait! do you support Raith Rovers or John McGlynn? He’s been offered a new contract so if he leaves it’s because he’s choosing to do so but you’re going to stop supporting your team if he goes. I agree our board are a total circus with zero credibility left but it’s Raith I support, not John Sim or the BOD or John McGlynn or even any of the players. I’ll still be supporting Raith long after they’ve all gone. As for McGlynn leaving causing a bigger stooshie than Goodwillie signing…..behave. I don’t see dozens of volunteers walking away because McGlynn accepts a better offer. There would be mild discontent at worst, we’d appoint a new manager and move on.

  14. I'd completely forgotten that the CPL gave us a fridge magnet of my wee madam, the beard knitter, until I discovered it amongst some paperwork the other day. Eight (or so) years ago, and five minutes ago: Edit: think I could've taken Smudger back when he was that age. Doesn't look quite so handy there.

  15. Not had a photo of this boy up for a while. He's 15 now and had 13 teeth out last summer followed by a bout of e-coli which has affected his kidney function. Still knows what's what when he needs a servant though.

  16. I wouldn't say Rangers or Celtic Colts hammering Gretna, Edinburgh Uni 9-0 etc. is very competitive. The Old Firm being permitted to buy a place half way up the pyramid and it being applauded on here, by some, is just an example of what is wrong in Scottish football. They already have a huge advantage over all the other clubs. From the guest club criteria any mention of the players being under a certain age has been omitted so we can drop the pretence that has anything to do with youth development.

  20. You’ve absolutely lost the place man. You’ve no idea who the 3 year deals are being offered to, if they’re even real. For years we bemoaned losing all our young players for f**k all and now when someone floats the idea of handing out longer deals you lose the heid.

  21. I’ve seen some wild takes on here but @itzdrk suggesting Jack Baird is going to be offered a three year deal may be up there. It’s quite clear that if any 3 year deals are offered it will be to the likes of Dempsey, McInroy, Maxwell and Reading

  27. Never met him but saw his posts and realised how special he was to Auchinleck. These are the incredible folks who follow our teams and it is massively important that they are recognised especially when taken from us too soon. Well done everyone at Auchinleck.Great foes on the park but great friends off it.

  28. Quite a few visible changes over the last week at Lesser, the layer of sand has been laid over the whole pitch bar the South East corner and the scaffolding around the new changing rooms has come down as well. Lots of foundation excavation work as well at both the hospitality area and the south east corner of the ground for the turnstile area.

  37. I was in 117 just next to the Rangers fans, the scenes after the final whistle weren't great at all. Complete arseholes on both sides deliberately trying to cause bother and needlessly escalating what was essentially just yer usual pantomime slagging into something that turned a bit sketchy out of nowhere. Consequently, normal punters - including older folk and kids - ended up in the firing line. Not getting drawn into the 'aye but did you see what they did?' shite, as from where i was sitting it seemed folk on our side had as much to do with it as folk in the Rangers end. Stuff like this has always happened to an extent, but there does seem to have been a noticeable rise in coked up thickos at these games in recent times, and the rivalry does seem to be getting even more vitriolic for whatever reason.
