  1. Every club that finds itself in a downward spiral with managers rarely lasting a whole season should aspire to get someone in long term and steady the ship, but clubs can't simply say "we've gone through too many managers recently, we have to give the next one two or three seasons no matter what." If the manager proves themselves to be a blithering incompetent you can't stick with them just for the sake of stability - you don't give yourself any stability by persisting with a dreadful manager for the sake of it, you make yourself even worse. Rennie has not just failed to turn round Falkirk but has demonstrably made them even worse than they were under Sheerin, and it could get worse still - they could easily end up 6th or 7th. Falkirk giving him a new contract would be an act of self-harm on a par with Clyde's failure to sack John Brown after relegation to the third tier, and it could send them on the same trajectory.

  2. As I’m sure your misogynistic and probably fictional wife knows, school kids are too busy being taught how to put johnnies on cucumbers to be educated on how to please their husbands in the kitchen. Also, your “I don’t know what goes on in schools” seems not to jibe with your recent guff about being absolutely expert in all that’s going on in schools, by virtue of a ream of grandchildren across state and private sectors and sundry relatives working in education. It’s almost like you make things up.

  3. Duffy and Presley. Jesus wept. Duffys been hopeless for years and Presley's failed miserably at every club he's managed. I'm sure he'd promise us we'd go up though at least.

  5. A couple of days and the gloom of Saturday's display hasn't dissipated. Eight years we've had of checking Bert Kassies and his coefficients website, and the exotic excitement of European draws. From the conical beaches and tapas bars of San Sebastian, to Macedonia, Kazakhstan, Lapland, Lisbon, Georgia.....and Burnley. Watching our club pull off fine victories in tough venues such as Groningen, Rijeka and Stavanger and building up a reasonable seeding points total for ourselves, despite the obvious glass ceiling in the Europa. Just as the new format opens up the opportunity for more Scottish clubs to have aspirations to go deeper in European competition, we have the rug pulled from under our feet. Our chairman talks of a dream in us being in Europe's top #100 clubs - yet all he's seemingly done is remove what was becoming a fairly straightforward box to tick on an annual basis of at least being at the party in the first place. Now a Hearts side, who have been yo-yo'ing between leagues for much of the last decade look set to take advantage and that really grates............. Without going over all the divisive old ground, it all still seems so unnecessary.

  6. I have a hard time believing that a woman intelligent enough to qualify as a nurse, is also so financially illiterate and wantonly profligate with her salary that she's having to starve herself in order to be able to feed her kids. I don't have any such difficulty imagining that her basic living overheads are such, and her nurses salary is so insufficient, that by the time she's paid her bills, rent or mortgage, childminding fees, travel and associated costs of working, and so on and so forth, that she's utterly fucking skint by the end of the month, feeds the kids with whatever is left in the cupboards, and goes without herself

  7. Should have a manager of the year category, rare for a team to have as many candidates. Davie White would be dead cert to win.

  8. Called Rennie out the very first time I heard him talk. Same age as the players, played too and there’s no way they would take that guy seriously. He must be the least charismatic and most dull boring manager in any of the leagues. An incredible lack of personality People banging on about philosophy and style of play etc etc etc too Ffs it is Scottish League 1. Sign good players, have an enjoyable and fun environment, build a team spirit and play 4-4-2 it’s not rocket science

  14. We've been through a lot of shit this season but the next two games are massive. Perth at home then Aberdeen. Let's do our bit first of all and back the squad and manager at least for the next couple of weeks. When push comes to shove the Dundee fans are up there with the most loyal in Scotland and this home game next week is massive followed by a short trip up north. The scenes of bodies flying about at Adams goal reminded everyone we just want the best for the club. Let's fucking do this Dundee. Thank you.

  16. The only person getting personal abuse from the whole situation is Val McDermid, which is pretty incredible given she's one reason why we don't have a rapist running about the pitch wearing our strip (it was a collective effort of course. I personally think the penny dropped when Raith TV couldn't function). There's a few folk I follow on social media who have walked away and won't be back until things have changed. It's all well and good talking about folk like Val, but it's the folk who would go to Peterhead away in the pissing rain in mid November who we're still missing. I don't think there'll be any attempt from the club to engage with these people unfortunately. It's easy to sit back and say "this is boring, we need to move on". I'm glad we've got folk like Steven Lawther who is happy to call them out. Its been bad enough to watch our name get dragged through the dirt signing Goodwillie. It's really not good optics watching folk call Val "poison" and "a fat ride" on twitter to someone who's biggest crime was to walk away after the club doubled down on their blunder.

  18. I'm not having a go at those who are simply guessing he'll be kept on. But, for the 1000th time, the fact Rennie staying on is even still in the discussion is ludicrous. A large chunk of the BoD's reputation rests with a very simple decision.

  26. See likewise with the slew of 'stop moaning because you can't have the central heating on 24/7, I grew up in a house with ice on the insides of the windows' shite that appeared on social media at the start of the month. Living in a freezing cauld hoose is never fun, but the fact some of us did it in the 70's or whatever doesn't in any way make it less appalling that people in one of the richest countries on the planet can't afford to heat their homes in 2022. Some people also appear to be oblivious to the fact that other folk sense ambient temperature totally differently. I'm happy sitting in shorts and a Tee in a 15 degree room, but I can totally appreciate why some auld folk, bairns, and women with thyroid issues or such would find that utterly perishing and intolerable.

  27. We don't know that though. Ultimately, the only discussion that matters is that taking place in the boardroom and there's been no indication from them whatsoever that they wish to keep him on next season. I think a few fans are getting hung up on MR's "next season", "talking to new players" type chat. As I said in another post, that strikes me as the typical bravado of the failing manager. Rennie is not stupid, far from it, and will therefore be fully aware that performances and results are a million miles away from being good enough. He's just never going to admit it, like pretty much every manager the world over. Truth is always the first casualty of the under pressure football manager. You could contrast Rennie's delusional nonsense with what McCall said about Partick Thistle's performance last Friday night. But McCall is doing that from a position of strength - he knows his job is extremely secure so can afford to admit to a bad performance from his team now and again. Rennie simply does not have that luxury. His employment prospects are far more fragile. He knows that he only damages his reputation and draws attention to his failings whenever he is forced to talk about events on the pitch, so he's only too happy to drone on about plans for next season, changing the whole culture of the club etc etc. He's literally changing his job remit - a short-term, rapid improvement in performance was it not?- as he does so, and most of us, certainly on here, can see right through it for the blatant deflection it is. I'd be astonished - and extremely worried - if those on the board cannot. But, unlike practically everyone else on here it seems, I do not know them so maybe I'm giving them more credit than they deserve. Of course, if he is kept on, everything in this post can be roundly derided!!

  28. Really, have you ever interviewed anybody? I think the majority on here thought this was a decent shot, it hasn't worked for all concerned and we are now in a poorer position. I would highly doubt any of the parties involved would want this continue, it doesn't take much to work that out surely? Where we go from here is going to take some strong leadership from the board, the next manager and the spine of the team that we have just never had for as long as I can remember.

  31. Not at all. When Rennie was selected , I was really excited as I thought he would bring lots of fresh ideas to the club. It obviously hasn’t worked out but we were going nowhere with Sheerin and the BOD had the foresight to only give him a short term contract. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I think it was worth taking the chance. I would imagine he would come over well at interview and I certainly don’t blame anyone for going with him. I think we now need someone with experience who knows our league and, hopefully, we will get some news fairly soon.

  32. We're in a very worrying place. The goodish news is that I think the "expansive football" fantasy has been put to bed. Goodwin's interviews all point to him being a hard-line pragmatist and he wouldn't be saying the stuff he's saying if Cormack hadn't signed off on the change of approach. But it does provoke the obvious question, wtf has the past year been about? Couldn't Cormack have got to where he is now by thinking harder and respecting the opinions of football professionals instead of indulging this expensive, destructive and entirely predictably failed experiment? Or by realising that his job isn't to pander to the on-line fruitcakes, it's to know better than them? Because, even assuming we can avoid relegation, where we are now has the unmistakable whiff of shit creek. Goodwin thinks he's a pragmatist but from the way he's talking about recruitment I think he's seriously underestimated the difficulty of bringing quality players to this club. I predict he'll have a very different opinion in 2 or 3 months time. Basically he needs to recruit almost an entire team. Of the guys likely to be here next season I'd say only Barron, Besuijen and McCrorie look like reasonably solid positives, and two of them are inexperienced kids. Bates, Gallagher and MacKenzie are first team possibles but they will be weak links unless they have much more consistent seasons next time. Watkins is talented but fragile. Hayes is questionable at full back and I'm not sure he has another year in him. So we're probably going to have to sign 10 or more new faces. And no club at our level will get that many new signings right. If a successful signing is one that deservedly commands a first team place when fit, I'd guess our success rate is typically about 30%. If we get 50% Goodwin will have done very well. And I still doubt that would be enough to deliver anything better than mid-table. Even Goodwin does a good job - and that's a massive if - I think it'll take him 3 or 4 windows to to get us to the level we've taken for granted over the previous 8 seasons. By then Hearts, pumped up with European money that could have been ours, might be impossible to catch. It really has been the most monumental clusterfuck. And almost entirely self-inflicted.

  33. Absolute bullshit. Why are you even pretending you have any idea what you're talking about? Every club in the league has midfielders/strikers shooting before a game whilst the defenders go off and are fed long balls to get their timing of headers in. Strikers could get one chance in the first minute of the game, so will have practiced that game specific movement, could also help prevent injury.

  35. It's an odd thing in football due to the prevailing ownership model, that generally in a job interview the folk doing the interviewing likely have little to no practical experience of the job they are trying to recruit for. I'd love to get a deeper appreciation of how it works, particularly in a lower Scottish league context. You filter through the dozens of applications you were never going to consider anyway, get in the two or three guys from the Merry go round... and then what? Is there a more technical interview aspect? Like, how you go about choosing a player, what's the benefits of coaching style x over y? I see you have a 3 month without a win, run - care to explain that? How can a bunch of folk who have ran global accountancy firms, or electrical trades or housing developers actually discriminate one candidate from another and make an informed choice? Or is it just a kind of broader, shallower thing. Does the board like the guy, do folk in the media rate him? It'd be interesting to see if various boards had worked over time to try and optimise a recruitment process to try and take some of the luck of the draw out of it - or if its just more likey buggins turn for whoever is out of luck and hope it works next time.

  39. Sunak seems to be absolutely tone deaf. It's beyond outrageous that he's retained US citizenship whilst holding the role he has in govt. And it's beyond outrageous that the man who is responsible for closing down loopholes and make it more difficult to avoid as well as evade UK tax has a wife who is completely ripping the piss on tax avoidance. But to then establish that the thing that's really ripping his knitting is the need to find out who leaked the information and get them prosecuted is enough to conclude that he should f**k off right now. Aye, there shouldn't have been a leak but there was and it's shown this guy up for what he is. Whilst on about Sunak, the tax burden being placed on the population is to avoid placing it on his business chums and all the greedy c***s who should be paying far more of the share. What we can glean from all of this is that Sunak didn't introduce furlough to put food on your table, he did it for the sake of big business. He's a hypocritical tory c**t.

  43. The table from his first game in charge onwards: It's an incredible turnaround. While we weren't cut adrift from 8th to the same extent, getting such a transformation, doing it immediately and with very little change in January means it should be considered every bit as impressive as Ian Murray at Dumbarton and Jack Ross at St Mirren. We still need to see how he handles a summer transfer window when some of our best players will be away, but I'd have a contract extension in front of him today.
