Third Lanark?

Is this a reference to me? Hard to tell as your second sentence made no sense and seems to mix the person who sent a monkey emoji (a social media user called Pride Of Lanarkshire), the person who uncovered it (Shay Logan) and myself (Colin Telford) for then adding screen shots of the conversation to a closed group of Airdrie supporters. From my perspective, I was as excited about Saturday as I have been any game for 20 years. To get to the stadium and find the home end rammed was amazing. Atmosphere was great throughout. Team performed and the late goal was demoralising. That’s football and I’ve not given up hope of results going our way this weekend to still give us some excitement to end the season with. However by Sunday morning I learned that a Cove fan had been attacked, knocked unconscious and taken to hospital and then just to put the tin lid on it, there were screen grabs, circulating widely on Twitter and posted by Shay Logan himself (therefore seen and reposted by tens of thousands of people) showing someone purporting to be an Airdrie fan (a pro Ukrainian one judging by the profile photo) abusing Shay and sending a monkey emoji to him - and then deleting it but not before Shay had screen grabbed it. I posted that on a closed Facebook page for Airdrie supporters as I think it’s deplorable, should be seen and discussed by the fan base. I’d hope all people condemn it and it might make the perpetrator and anyone else who would think of doing something similar realise the negative impact on the club’s reputation it can have. I appreciate some people have expressed the view that I shouldn’t have given attention to one individuals act (or a “silly emoji” as you put it). I disagree, it was already in the public domain and I think I was only really highlighting it to our own community of supporters in the hope of changing people’s opinions. But people are entitled to their own views. I learn more about the attack on the Cove fans each day and it gets worse. I’ve now seen a video of the blow landed on Michael and it is truly sickening. A cowardly blow on a fan, in a club jersey with his hands in his pockets minding his own business. I’m sure it will come into the public domain after a court conviction but it could have been a fatality. The young mob (a decent number of them who all look around school leaving age) then run away chanting Section B. 5 days on Michael still has constant head aches, has lost half a stone because he can’t eat solids and can’t sleep. Probably signs of concussion and will hopefully disappear soon, horrific none the less and broken teeth isn’t a great thing to have either. This morning I learned that the same mob took a Cove supporters walking stick and snapped it. I knew nothing of developments in the Rico Quitongo affair until yesterday. I don’t believe it’s relevant to Saturday and it sounds as if it will go through due process at the Employment Appeals Tribunal. I’ve gone from a massive high to a real low, I’ve got Covid (which means I’ve got nothing better to do than bite on this bait) and I can’t really be bothered engaging on this stuff. edited to fix some foggy brained typos

At the last AGM, Jamie Swinney said he had 10 permanent staff supported by 35 volunteers. I know who the ten folk are - or nine now as one left. When the club advertised her job (Finance person) they took some stick on social media, with one arsehole thinking that having an employee to do such trivial tasks as pay invoices and manage the payroll constituted a "gravy train". Somebody else posted an inaccurate theory on P&B about why the lady left. For those reason I'm wary of going into any details, except to say that most are on part-time hours, (one guy is ten hours a week), are fans themselves and do more than they get paid for. I think we should leave the backroom staff in peace to get on with it. People like groundsmen, retail, finance etc shouldn't really have their value discussed on a public forum IMO. (I realise you likely wouldn't not do that but it would get down to that level eventually)

Some generalised feedback for QP fans unable to attend last night’s meeting. The meeting opened with respectful tones from The President that this was the members meeting. The other speakers also stressed that this was our club. Big improvement on last summer’s meeting. CEO Leanne Dempster updated us on club development, largely about the stadium redevelopment and the plans for the Pollok Park campus. It’s still planned to open the stadium for our first “league game” which I took to mean our first game of the season. The East stand will be first with away sharing initially. The pitch is being laid in a couple of weeks. Confirmed it’s hybrid with built-in drainage and service ducts beneath. Some form of hospitality will be available but not yet the west stand and catering building. Revamped Pavillion most likely. She was a bit fuzzy on timings. Unclear on whether the south stand will be built within next season or in time for 23-24. North stand on hold pending completion of the rest. The Lochinch development has significant investment plans and the club expects to sign a very long term lease this summer. This is subject to current legal negotiations and thereby no further info at this time. The Nether Pollok part is a pipeline project at the moment, subject to Lochinch being settled. DoF Marijn Beuker gave an excellent presentation on how his development programme works. Way too much detail for here but suffice to say everyone in the room was spellbound. It’ll be a quantum leap for QPFC. We’re lucky to have him. We have time for this whereas other teams driven by just this week’s results don’t. Unlike some other clubs I know of, the Community programme won’t just be about revenue, it’ll actually form the first stage of player recruitment. The Dutch approach will attract the quality of youngster who normally ends up at Lenzie or Murray Park. New head coach/manager (his words) Owen Coyle gave an impromptu speech and made it clear that the club’s ambition this year is still to get promoted. The immediate task is to consolidate our play-off position and then, in his words, go toe-to-toe with whoever. We have a winner at our club! More importantly, he and Beuker are on the same track, albeit at different parts of the journey, and acknowledge each others skills are complimentary. The President separately confirmed we are still going for promotion. Very positive evening, respectful to the audience, professionally delivered. Good times to be a QP fan.

For me, there is a great disparity between the amout of coverage this issue receives and what its actual impact is. Regarding transgender atheletes, I don't think there has ever been any evidence that someone has gone through a massively, life changing process, to do slightly better in a sport which won't make them any money anyway. Rather, it's more likely they are doing something they would be doing anyway and just happen to also be athletes but the latter is disconnected to the former. As to whether they should compete, this could be considered on a case by case basis with certain rules and parameters in place. Regarding transgender people in prison, we should be seeking to make both male and female prisons safer for vulnerable people (rather than drastically cutting their funding and sending more people to them). With regards to the use of hormone suppressants on pre teens - this is a runiously complex issue that nobody can solve. It's best left for doctors to advise - but no doubt they will get it wrong sometimes too. For me, people who are transgender are incredibly, almost ludicrously, brave. And fair play to them for that, what they are doing is neither easy on their body nor in a societal sense (although the latter is getting better). Hope they live a good life. Overall, the transgender debate is very much distraction politics to me, it affects a very small portion of the overall population.

After years of working in a dying trade I left for a new role and walked into it on near enough the same rate. Its long hours, its hard work at times and I fucking hate it at other times but was today awarded a 27% pay increase. I am now going to be earning more than I ever imagined - or was told I would - and I've only been in the job 8 months. It's going to be very difficult to walk away from this role now.

Yes, like you i have supported for a very long time, being at the 57 Final , Vaduz and everywhere else.You are correct, it’s very grim watching at the moment, but there have been terrible times in the past. All I can say is that the people currently running things are determined to get things right, have put in a lot of money, are doing a power of work behind the scenes and are suffering just like you and I. I think we should just write off this season, stick it out till the end (the weather should be better) and see what the BOD puts before us for the future and then, decide accordingly. Surely, we cant give up just yet on a club which we love.

As the season goes on and In order to make the games at least bearable, we have been heading to the pub earlier and earlier pre kickoff. Friday half 12 should just about do it.

I try to avoid going all "Sturgeon is lying to us" etc but I really don't understand why we don't have regular figures for incidental infections in Scotland. Is there any technical reason why these figures seem elusive here but not in England? You have to lean towards the idea that these figures are inconvenient to the SG narrative and so they aren't prioritised.

Rangers arrange a friendly match thousands of miles away from their major fan base to raise vital funds to keep the club ticking over. Deniz Mehmet: 3/10. The 3 is for the last couple of games where he's been fine, even pulling off some good saves at Inverness. Before that and we'd be having to consider decimal points here. Made some howlers that would have Chris Smith wryly shaking his head. Jakub Stolarczyk: 6/10. Been ok. A couple of dodgy moments but hasn't chucked one in. Yet. Fraser Currid: 0/10. Didn't play a single minute. Utterly pointless. Leon Jones: 2/10. The Sporcle quiz about this season will have you fuming that you don't remember Leon Jones. Not as fuming as Jones himself, who was sold a lie to leave America for Fife. Mark Connolly: 6/10. Mostly pretty solid. Shouted a lot which inexplicably moistened the gussets of some fans, who overlooked his occasional lapse. Efe Ambrose: 5/10. Casual as f**k. Entertaining at times, deeply terrifying at times. He looks like he's having a great time, a stark contrast to vast swathes of the fansbase who often soil their undergarments when he's on the ball. Coll Donaldson: 7/10. Been good. Scored a screamer too, and a tap in. Would be happy to keep him for next season. Ross Graham: 1/10. Genuinely one of the worst defenders seen at East End. Thankfully for him he seems to have shaken off the trauma and appears to be somewhat of a player, regularly featuring for Dundee United in the Premiership. He will still have nightmares of Arbroath and Partick at home mind. Peter Grant nearly ruined him. Rhys Breen: 3/10. Injured so often and featured so little. Had fleeting moments of competence. Reece Cole: 2/10. Injured so often and featured so little. Did little when he did feature save the occasional flash of a vague notion of something. Dan Pybus: 5/10. Solid at times, but nothing more. Often less. Achingly average. Mr Championship, as he'll kick around this league for ages, being passed around clubs like a cheap stag do abroad hoor. Graham Dorrans: 4/10. If he hadn't been such a good player in the past then he would have received a 5, but he gets a point less for disappointing more. Kai Kennedy: 3/10. Shitebag of a player and rather overrated. Had one good game for us, thus the 3, where he threatened to fulfil some promise. Alas, his other appearances dashed such foolish hope. Steven Lawless: 5/10. He's a winger, so play him as a fucking winger! Too often Hughes refuses to do so, wasting his probable ability. I often forget he's playing. Scored some penalties. Joe Chalmers: 4/10. Showed that he can be a player. Also showed that he can be a passenger. Needs to do more, and more often. Liam Polworth: 5/10. Not had many games so far. Has been ok. Nothing stands out about him. Bobby Kamwa: 3/10. Had so little time to show anything. Thought he did alright against Inverness and hinted at someone who may be alright. Nikolay Todorov: 3/10. Wishes he was the next Andy Smith. Would settle for the next David Moss. Alas, we've got the next Marinus Dijkhuizen. If there were such an option at the end of the season, I'd release every single one except Coll Donaldson. In fact, there's very few players at the club in general I'd keep. Thomas and Comrie certainly, but probably none of the other players who were already signed before the season began. Peter Grant: 0/10. The worst manager in our history and may yet still be the most costly, setting the club back years. A monumental blunder that was disgracefully stupid and arrogant and should see everyone involved punted from the club and in to the sun. Also he rambles so mad pish on Sportsound and speaks some daft shite whenever he's on Sportscene, where he inexplicably dresses like a sad uncle. John Hughes: 3/10. Absolutely awful appointment. He's a balloon, a trumpet, a tit, an arse, an ignoramus. He's made some poor signings, punted our best striker, stubbornly refused to change the team for too long, makes subs too late too often and claims to play passing football, when in actuality said passing is between the defence whereby one of them launches a long, aimless ball anyway. A fraud who is taking us down. He's very close to getting Mo Hutton to do the team talk before a game. Desperately hope he isn't here next season.

I know it’s been alluded to already but the sheer audacity of her to claim that the vast majority of people are in favour of keeping masks is utter bullshit. If that was the case she’d be more than happy to just make it guidance as opposed to mandated in law and let the “vast majority” to continue wearing them if they are so inclined. I'm wondering if the Ibrox board have broken a contract, and there will be yet another court case for them to contend with, this time in the NSW court systems? The Edinburgh and Dundee clubs' fanbases, and also Aberdeen's, would be fully behind the two Glasgow clubs fcking off permanently to Australia, there's often talk about them leaving the Scottish leagues anyway.

An excellent summary of a very positive meeting. I came away very impressed by all the speakers, President included, and excited and encouraged by their obvious passion and enthusiasm for the plans going forward. They all seem to be pulling in the same direction and I hope that last night is the start of continued improved communication and sharing with the members (and hopefully the wider fanbase going forward) so that they take us along on the journey. A few other points that were mentioned last night included; *The aim to drive revenue from Lesser and the Mcalpine building along with the goal of becoming self sufficient financially *Plans to tap into our history more by supporting and building links with Hampden Bowling Club and exploiting our archives for peices that can raise interest and awareness of our place in the community locally and within Scottish (and world?) football. *The long term nature of the plans for the youth academy, with short term results, while important and being evident, being secondary to longer term improvement, and everything being focused towards how it will ultimately lead to first team success. After a few years of some negativity with poor communication, lockdowns and far too many draws, I for one came away from last night very excited again about the future of the club.

I'd like the BOD to outline just exactly what the 'mess' they've been left with is. I'm not disbelieving them in anyway but we continually hear that they've been left with a lot to clear up and that they need to be given time to do it. I obviously understand that some details may not be able to be made public for legal reasons or to protect individuals or whatever but I do think that a list of things that they've been working on would get fans onside and would maybe make some fans a bit more patient re our current predicament. Whenever I hear the narrative I get a mental picture of them all sitting round the Boardroom table with a huge list on a board and the sweat pouring from them as they try to sort it out! We have already been told about the non payment of the fee required to sign foreign players so there's one thing we can tick off the list straight off. Something that I think would help.

I saw an interview with Souness once talking about Liverpool playing Dinamo Bucharest in the European Cup in the 1980's, first leg at Anfield he breaks their star player's jaw with a vicious, deliberate elbow after they had been kicking each other all game, no VAR or compliance officer in those days so went completely unpunished. Over in the return leg in Romania he is getting some serious abuse from the crowd during the warm up, throat slitting gestures, objects thrown at him etc, he shakes his head, waves his finger to the crowd and points to Terry McDermott, who had a similar perm/moustache combo and makes an elbow gesture in his direction to the unwitting Terry Mac who, for the entire 90 minutes got the most horrendous abuse from the crowd with stones and coins pelted off his head each time he ventured near the touchline. Such absolute nerve and shithouse behaviour actually should be grudgingly admired

I hadn't a clue what rennies cv looked like before he joined but thought someone in the new board knew something we didn't and that it might be worth a try. he comes across as a thoroughly decent guy with solid "coaching" experience ( as did Sheerin). he has effectively had a 3 month interview and shown very little to warrant an extension. if the board extend his contract ( unless he pulls a rabbit out the hat and makes the play offs) at the end if the season then they will lose all credibility, and a serious amount of fans. I'm fed up of watching teams that don't win, don't seem to care and to a large extent are totally disorganised.

The (justifiable) boasting about the vaccine rollout should have gone hand in hand with a concerted effort at emphasising how safe society is as a result, and maybe get a good chunk of those who are especially vulnerable and still concerned to feel less so. Instead, for 2 years any positive news has been caveated so much that it comes across as a negative and it just adds to the nonsense. Of course, I'd rather people weighed it up for themselves and engaged some critical thinking, but in reality the messaging from politicians does have an impact, as Sturgeon well knows.

Let me understand this. I can go to a wedding next weekend, be sat indoors shoulder to shoulder with 100+ others and not need to wear a mask yet I when I go to the local supermarket the following day where I can keep distance from others as I wander around I have to wear a mask while doing so?
