  3. Been a long time lurker on here for a while and not one for posting but after Colin reached out to me on twitter regarding this, I felt compelled to comment and thank you guys. I was the Cove fan that was hit on Saturday and took a fairly nasty faceplant. To be honest I'm still not really sure what happened bar the bits and pieces I've been told but like I said, I just wanted to say a big thank you to not only all who have been involved in this but to all the various Airdrie fans who have reached out to me on Twitter and Facebook to check if I was alright and send their best wishes. Pre match we were in Cue Here mixing with Airdrie fans having a good laugh chatting about the game, the guys couldn't have been more welcoming. We even ended up giving a few lads a lift to the ground on our supporters bus. The game was as nervy and as edgy as I'd suspected it would be and I imagine the remaining games of the season will all be like that in the run in for both sets of fans. If there's any justice, both teams with make it up this year and be facing off in the Championship next year after two terrific unbeaten runs. What happened after the game was horrible, one minute I was at the back of the queue to get on the bus and the next thing I knew I was in the back of the ambulance unable to tell the paramedic my postcode with no idea what had happened. At the hospital I was told I was lucky that with hitting my head so hard that there wasn't much more serious damage done. After the great spirts pre-match and dealings with fans, nothing that day led me to believe anything like that would happen or there would be any trouble and like I said the response form all Airdrie fans since has been nothing short of overwhelming. I just wanted to say thank you and show my appreciation. There's no place for anything like this in football but with CCTV, videos and photos, hopefully the guy is found and dealt with.

  4. If it's a long term build, why was Rennie brought in on a six month contract with the explicit aim of taking us up this season? Why did we sign Griffiths to a short term deal on big wages? The mixed messaging just annoys fans.

  5. **Fantasy Golf League Week 12** cooking up a storm The terrible photoshops make their long awaited return to the Fantasy Golf League as I'm fast running out of chef puns thanks to Scottie Scheffler's 3rd win in a month at the WGC Matchplay. Now up to world no.1, he's coming to the boil nicely for the Masters and is absolutely frying the opposition everytime he steps on the course. Standings Good week Top scorers this week were @Leeds Saint and @MP_MFC who both scored a tasty 300 points. Bad week A rather mouldy 60 points for @IrishBhoy and @true_rover Just one week to go until the Masters and @Day of the Lords is in pole position to win the Green Velour Jacket and the Road to Augusta title. Only @Tartan Dave can realistically catch him and probably needs a 1-2 this week to do so. 6. my dog (below) spent his last few years kicking about in a carriage when his back legs went. He still loved going to pubs and on quite a few occasions before I could get the carriage off him he would batter into chairs and tables sending everything flying - quite often down me also. I reeked of beer for about a year as a result and miss not being able to call on that as an excuse these days ha

  11. He's 22, has over 150 senior appearances, should break 15 goals this season and also hit double figures last season. He might not become a star player but everything points to him becoming a squad regular at worst. Earned his shot, for me.

  15. Whilst I can understand why this sort of thing has been mentioned a few times by Falkirk supporters, it's worth keeping in mind that whilst Murray has been in post a few years, it isn't only this year he's had us in the top end of the league. We were tucked in just behind Raith and Falkirk when the season was ended due to Covid and were well on track for the playoffs at least. We finished second last season by 2 points and made the playoff final. This season seems to have been the first he's had no interference from a director when it comes to signings and he created an almost entirely new team in the summer which has us absolutely motoring, but it hasn't taken Ian Murray 4 years to make us a competitive presence at the top end of the division. There is no reason a competent management team and coaching staff could not do the same with Falkirk and have them competing in the top 4 and for the title; even if it takes them multiple years to make them as good as the current Airdrie or cove sides, it doesn't need to take that time to make them a genuine title contender, or at least a top 4 team. It didn't with us. After the last few seasons, I assume 3rd and 2nd place finishes would be viewed as an improvement, even if it didn't ultimately lead to promotion. I see 'it took Murray years to build this Airdrie' but it's not like Airdrie fans had to put up with 5th and 6th place finishes for a number of successive years under Murray before it all clicked this season. Ditto the other two clubs you mention. Cove finished 3rd last season. Montrose finished 4th. Both teams are again in the top 4. Falkirk are looking at another season behind these teams, and well behind them. These teams have not suddenly been successful this season after toiling under the same manager for multiple seasons before. Ian Murray's Airdrie have done better than the season before in every season he has been with us. Keep that in mind when considering how much time to give a manager. There should be clear signs of progress along the way.

  31. Na, I dont think it is. The wider covid protocols in Scotland are still causing bedlam with services, businesses, schools etc still floundering to provide their full service. Masks are only a wee part of what we in Scotland are told is needed for "safety". If she feels its OK to ditch the mask in that setting, and embrace normality over safety it's even more bust for the flush. Masks and isolation has done nothing to prevent a case rate higher than any time in the pandemic. Meanwhile England with none of this manage to sinply carry on. Its way beyond pigheaded arrogance now and into rank stupidity.

  38. I saw a bit of a scene once when some foreigners - think they were Germans or Scandies - refused to tip in a restaurant. Manager came out and all sorts. That being said, when somebody goes over and above over there it's only the right thing to do. Me and the missus were in the Hard Rock hotel in Florida one time and one night there was a tornado warning so more or less everything was shut. We thought we'd just go down to the hotel bar, but it was almost empty - I imagine most folk just thought they'd have an early night. Anyway, by about nine we were sitting at the bar when I looked round and realised we were the last people there, so I said to the bartender (a Korean-American wid) that if she wanted to close up early we'd split too. Turned out she wasn't allowed to dub the place up til midnight, so we ended up just getting talking to her while she mixed loads of weird cocktails and speciality drinks for us. Come midnight, and slurring quite a bit we asked for the bill...she was like "Nah, it's fine...no charge...I enjoyed talking to you. You saved me from having a really boring few hours." We ended up slipping her a hundred dollars as a tip...cheap at the price as I imagine we'd had two or three times that drinks-wise.

  39. It’s completely immaterial how many points in front and how much was invested to get there, how many draws could have been wins, how few games were lost, which players (from other teams) would’ve made the difference. Come the end of the season everyone finishes where they deserve to be. If Killie win the league by a goal, a point, or with 3 games to spare so be it. Its been an underwhelming experience for Killie fans from start to (almost) finish with so many anticipated good away days moved to shitey Friday night slots, no Ayrshire derbies played on a Saturday, pish management and tactics from Tommysaurus Wright for the first half of the season, and until recently no coherent form from players who should stand out more than they have, more frequently in this league. I do get the feeling Arbroath are just about hanging on just now but possibly have ran out of steam a little at the same time Killie have found a winning habit and some much needed consistency. Morton away on Friday night is a tough game these days, and a win there may just prove decisive.

  40. Just to take the thread off track for a quick minute. Stirling Albion are rereleasing an old kit from the 90s made by spall who are also remaking the kit (I was amazed they were still going) Anyway it must be knocking on the door of 30 years since the unbeaten season with that great team who also wore a kit made by spall. Would be good if the club could get a few made like the recent copa cup final and europe ones. Here is Sinky looking resplendent in the afore mentioned design.

  41. I am utterly shocked that you believe there is a conspiracy. Its not like you. Mate ffs these award shows the stars get roasted, thats a mild joke compared to some of the stuff. The hollywood elite are a shower of sanctimonious arseholes who think shite like going to the oscars etc is somehow profound and that their body of work puts them on a level with people who actually perform meaningful work. I love movies, cinema, tv etc, but the arseholery rampant in Hollywood is staggering, folks struggling to make ends meet being shamed by collective billionaires into charity stuff that the celebs could sort themselves if they werent greedy fuckers, or being lectured to by these sycophantic arseholes on a variety of causes whilst many of them knowingly enabled/stayed silent or even fucking colluded with monsters like Weinstein, Polanski and Allen for decades. The only people who seem to speak truth to these arseholes are the likes of Rock, Seth Macfarlane and Gervais, so absolutely f**k them if they get knocked down at an awards show. Have you seen how some of stuff about how Jada Pinkett Smith behaves to members of the public? Shes a self confessed arsehole. Will Smith and Jada belonged to a cult which fucking terrorised people (admittedly they no longer seem to practice). But regardless Rock made a pretty shite joke and Smith reacted like a complete weapon, his speech after winning genuinely made me think he has serious issues, one of the most self indulgent pieces of drivel ive ever had the misfortune of reading. Slaps a guy for a shite joke but its ok for his batshit son’s best pal to ride his wife like Seabiscuit for month. Gies peace with the Will Smith did the right thing stuff.

  42. Due to annoying busyness in March, I've struggled to get out during the good hill weather and I was desperate to get out, so went for a walk that I could do in a few hours - Beinn an Lochain at the Rest and Be Thankful. This was a really enjoyable walk - would highly recommend it as a "beginner" hill as navigation is really simple (and probably hard to make a mistake in poor visibilty) and it's a lot quieter than most of the hills in the Arrochar Alps - but if you like a bit of horizontal in your walk, this really isn't the one for you. The walk is basically an uninterrupted climb over a couple of Km straight from the road, really steep in some places, so it's a decent workout on a hot day like yesterday. The ridge is really nice and twisty, so lots of interest to take away from the burning legs It was blue skies all the way but was a bit hazy for decent long shots....
