  1. I didn't go today because of the price for me and the boys. Then the wife suggested I should just go myself, I said no because I still thought £30 was too much. I couldn't be arsed watching the game at all. I eventually set up to watch it online, but just sighed the whole way through. Price has never ever bothered me about a Dundee game before, it's really not much more than a normal game ticket for myself. I used to travel down to Dens for games when I lived in Aberdeen, so this would have still been cheaper than previous years for me. I have come to the conclusion that it's never been about the price for this game, I feel so disenfranchised with the club right now. We have a Chairman that doesn't speak, a Technical Director that moonlights for another club, a Manager that nobody wants even if we do stay up, a captain that fawns over another club, a really poor squad, a shite stadium getting no repairs until this imaginary stadium idea falls on its arse, a toxic atmosphere in the Derry (I probably add a fair amount to that tbf). You get my point. We deserve better. It's been too many years of this absolute shite. To top it off one of my boys said he wished he supported someone else. I don't blame him. Rant over. f**k Dundee FC.

  5. Calmed down a wee bit from yesterday but still don't think I'll be back this season if Rennie is still there. Actually stopped watching us and started watching Airdrie as they were everything we weren't. Whereas our team of neeps stand like glaikit scarecrows waiting for a pass to arrive at their feet, Airdrie players ran towards the ball and intercepted so many of our passes it was unreal. We know that the board and their pals are here so two things - 1) TURN THE FUCKING MUSIC DOWN! That was ridiculous yesterday. Last time we did that it was a derby game against the Fifers and the ground was full. Yesterday was against Airdrie in a mostly empty stadium. Awful. Do you have an 11 year old child playing with the stereo? 2) I don't go to games to be lectured. A five minute recorded diatribe telling me to sit down and shut up isn't going to make me want to come back. If you treat your customers like criminals, you'll get the customers you deserve. A long list of punishments for anyone who stands up or calls the ref an arsehole FFS. Get your act together Falkirk FC.

  8. While the vast majority will agree this squad of players have been an absolute priviledge to watch and deserve nothing but praise for their performances at this level over the past 15 months, it is very disappointing to hear some full on abuse of players creeping in from the stands. Completely unneccessary at the worst of times in my opinion, let alone the best of times, which is where we're at right now. On the flip side, it was great to see the majority of the support in the ground at full time applaud the team off. This team deserve our full support every week until the end of the season, and I hope we all stick behind them so we can fully appreciate and celebrate a fantastic season at the end of it, as whatever happens from here on in, that's what it's been.

  11. Ukraine are winning just by not giving up. Already seen in some places like GB News that Zelensky is just prolonging the agony of his people and should surrender for their sake. Russia's army is taking a huge reputational hit. Their elite paratroopers were virtually wiped out trying to capture an airport. The super scary Chechens were slaughtered in a drone strike and ambush. Every other day sees their expensive warplanes and helicopters swatted from the sky and their armour offers as much protection as a wet blanket in the face of modern anti-tank weapons. All of this being played out over an internet that was supposedly dominated by Russian hackers and bots. A war that was expected to be over in hours is heading for it's third week and the Russian military is bleeding out. Putin is sacking Generals all over the place - the ones not being killed in Ukraine by surprisingly accurate ambushes - and is now sacking spy chiefs. Oligarchs and the middle classes are fleeing the country whilst rising protests are brutally repressed. Every day the sanctions bite deeper and Western opinion hardens. For years he's tried to undermine the West, the EU and NATO but they have never been more united than now. Putin is losing this war. Every day that passes, things get worse for Russia. If I were Zelensky, I'd be demanding he does indeed f**k off because Ukraine will outlast Putin at this rate.

  12. A couple of pictures from Lesser today. All the plastic is gone from the pitch and they are now lifting the base layer that was beneath it. Most of the concrete for the walkway at the back of the East stand has been poured, and there has been foundation work done at either end of the stand. What looks like an access road has been built at the North East corner of the ground, although the perimeter fence there is still intact.

  14. It’s sad to say but Cowden probably belong in the Lowland League in the modern era and that’s coming from someone who has supported the team for about 48 years. The local town and council give the club very little support and apart from our amazing die hard supporters we have a very small fan base. The ground is crumbling and I assume that we are paying the owners a fairly hefty rent for playing there. But for an amazingly dedicated board of directors and a fantastic chairman we probably wouldn’t even exist. I remember going to a meeting some years ago at a time when our league registration was going to be sold by the owners and we would no longer exist. Thanks to some amazing people, some who are no longer sadly with us, the club still survives. Hopefully we can win yet another relegation play off but it’s not looking good. I can’t remember a Cowden team in a number of years who posses such a lack of creativity and attacking threat. Unfortunately we have had a tendency to stick with failing managers for far too long since we made it into the Championship. I never thought I’d ever see us playing at that level though and I’m hugely proud and grateful that I witnessed such a great period in the clubs history. After years of watching us struggle at the end of the bottom league our helicopter dreams came true and we were a brilliant side to watch for some years. If we do go down into the Lowland league and the club survives I will still support Cowden, Unfortunately due to health problems I haven’t been at matches this season but I buy the brilliant live streams when I can. I will definitely be at the play off unless a miracle happens and we avoid it. Cowden have always been an important part of who I am so I hope we continue regardless of which level of football we play at.

  15. I don't think offended is the right expression. They are taking exception to a type of behaviour. As everyone knows, stuff happens under the influence, but no-one likes the guy who stands back and times his run based on the vulnerability of the target.

  17. That was a damning afternoon and we were firmly put in our place by a good well organised team that knew their roles individually and collectively. I think Airdrie will get the play off spot and if any championship team thinks they’ll be able to take them lightly, be it at their peril. For me I’m totally fed up and feel like I’m wasting my time, effort and money following this half arsed team that totally incapable of putting themselves in the firing line, rolling over like a puppy have a tummy tickle. No desire, no ambition, no direction, gutless, clueless and that is only the team. The manager also talks absolute tosh treating us like imbeciles listening to his positive spin shit makes me really unhappy and annoyed. So, the team I have supported for a very long time will be missing another supporter who refuses to waste more time on a club full of imposters making a living on the backs of the very supporters that deserve much much better. I would need to see real meaningful change before I’m prepared to go back. I have had the impression for years that we have been playing at it fooling fans along the way. Take Killie for example, struggling in the championship - they make the necessary changes appoint a decent manager who in turns buys effective players and guess what? Yip they’re back at the top of the league whilst we muddle around becoming a bigger laughing stock that I thought imaginable. We are where we deserve to be despite new boards, fan investment and making the same mistakes over and over again - It’s madness! I’ve had enough. Just sat yesterday watching the contrast between the teams, when we lost possession we ambled about the park looking busy but when Airdrie lost the ball they were like swarms of flies around the proverbial and that was a very simple basic observation. Rant over and hopefully back at TFS when I see some genuine improvement instead of a multitude of false dawns. The product we’re are watching now and over the last 5 seasons is and has been utter pathetic. [emoji2959][emoji2959][emoji2959][emoji2959]

  18. Off the field we are in a better place than maybe any time in our history, the Bar must be a good income stream that will bring money into the club all year round not just on match days, I'm confident Bully is the man but he's still on a learning curve and we have to remember this is the first time he's been the man in charge and he's been out of scottish football for a while I'm sure given the correct coaching team and assistant beside him it will help and I'm impressed with the signings we made in January particularly Dempsey, McInroy and Ashford if that's what Mathie and Glendinning can pull out the hat after a few weeks I'm looking forward to what they can do I'm the summer, there will be bad performances and defeats but that's fitbaw I'm more confident going forward than I have ever been.

  20. It’s worth bearing in mind that when we first came down all those years ago, we had better budgets than the majority of teams around us and spent at least a season or two as a full-time team in a league of largely part-timers - it didn’t make a difference. We had 3 club legends in charge - Sandy Stewart, Kenny Black and Jimmy Boyle - none of whom really had what it took, unfortunately. By the time Boyle took over, we’d gone part-time and focused on developing youth players but again, he just didn’t have what it took and too many of those players just weren’t good enough. Bollan came next, as we tried the more ‘experienced’ route and, while there were glimmers of hope here and there, we probably couldn’t really back him the way we needed to financially. By the time he was shown the door, we’d been consistently in the 3rd tier for 4/5 seasons and it was longer than that if you count the few yo yo seasons beforehand. We then had the first ‘takeover’ and the full-time experiment, which saw a raft of ill-advised managerial appointments - Eddie Wolecki-Black, Kevin McBride, Marc Wilson, Stevie Findlay - as well as a bunch of untried kids and one or two seasoned ‘pros’, as the club desperately tried everything they could to turn it around. It was only after our takeover in 2017 where, after giving Stevie Findlay a chance for a season and a bit, the board saw sense, went hybrid and appointed our best manager in 20-odd years, Ian Murray. 12 years and counting in the ‘wilderness’ and believe me, there is no easy fix. Hell, even since Murray took over, there have been a lot of bumps in the road. Many of us (myself included) have backed him and believed he was building something/there was steady improvement but it hasn’t always been an easy watch and many weren’t buying into it until this season. For what it’s worth, I don’t see Murray going anywhere near Falkirk next season - whether we’re promoted or not. He’s just come off a significant project with us for the past 4 years that was a bit further along than where you guys are at right now. Like others have said, there’s clearly some serious issues behind the scenes that need ironing out before things start to work on the park. I reckon if we do lose him, entirely possible if we aren’t promoted, he’ll be after another crack at the Championship. Also worth pointing out (and this is only a rumour I heard floating around the terraces just after Christmas) but Murray was apparently approached by Falkirk before they appointed Rennie (as well as by QP and Hibs for their academy job) and he knocked them all back. It tells me that he won’t be jumping for the sake of it anytime soon and you’ve got to think that even if we don’t manage promotion this season, which would be gutting given how good we have been, we’d still be a better prospect than Falkirk next season. I guess my point is, while it’s not guaranteed, it’s highly likely it’ll take you guys 2-3 seasons to get to where you want to be from here, at best - given the position of the club, contracts, what other teams are doing, etc. This isn’t a throw money at it and it’ll go away situation and the same goes for the manager thing - while you always need to aim high, I think a healthy dose of reality is needed if anyone thinks getting a manager like Ian Murray in current circumstances will be easy or a given.

  22. The Browning pies you get from the shops I recall used to be better a few years back. Now the meat in them is gristly/fatty gym mat quality stuff. Fully agree with your opinion on the Home Bakery's pies. The Haggis pies they had on sale during Janauary for Burns night were delicious. Always thought Ayr should sell Haggis pies as one of the catering options.

  23. Yes but the flip side of that is that without fans buying ST's we wouldn't have a club to support or hope gets back to where it belongs. The fans are never to blame and buying season tickets and sticking around when the football is as bad as it has been the last few years should be commended, not ridiculed.

  27. Lochee United 2-0 Broughty Athletic - Midlands League Att: ~250 mark = Decent crowd with both Dundee teams playing tomorrow and Monday. Made it to Thomson Park today for the first time in a while for a decent battle between Lochee Utd and Broughty, thought Broughty had the better of the first half and definitely should have had a penalty, but created very little in terms of out and out chances. In the second half Lochee United were miles ahead and should have buried a couple of great chances, two good goals in the final 15 were deserved, and 2-0 probably was the right result to keep Lochee's slim title challenge going for another week or so. £3 for a very good Steak Pie and a Tea is also exceptional value.

  40. That is partly true but then you look at Livingston and Hamilton, both with smaller fanbases than Ayr, yet capable of multiple years in the premier league. Our policy of living within our means is admirable but also makes success harder to achieve. For years we've just ambled along doing the bare minimum expected of a professional club. You either need a lot of money or a novel approach to get success. We've had neither. But the Mathie/Smith 'revolution' is the most promising thing we've had in 20 years. I hope to God it works because our long suffering fanbase deserve some good times.

  45. Our season was all about staying up, and anything else is a bonus. That statement is 100% correct. I have absolutely no idea why an Arbroath fan would be 'fucking raging' at one of our members of staff re-iterating our pre season aim, which clearly shows how superb a season we're having? Do you think we'd be happier with Rab coming out and digging at the players who have been absolutely outstanding and achieved the best finish for a part time team in 30 odd years, due to one bad performance?!
