  1. Can't believe it's been two whole years since we last won a scrappy 1-0 midweek game to leave a team stuck on 23 points at the 30-game stage. With EightGamestoGo (TM), Dundee still have hope: just do what Hearts were 100% definitely going to do in 2020 and win all eight remaining fixtures, finish on 47 points and laugh at the team dropping down.

  2. At least you might not get relegated from the "points against St Mirren league" then.

  4. A club that was promoted in 2nd place in a 2 up 2 down system but survived relegation on 4 occasions when they finished 2nd bottom by introducing a 1 up 1 down closed shop. One of those was the season Gretna imploded. You should have been down here more frequently which would have been fun to see with that £13m debt. You're not a big club, you're just a diddy club like the rest of us non-bigots. Just remember that.

  7. My other half has just signed us up offering to Sponsor a woman and child from Ukraine who would like to come to the UK. As if 4 weans and a dug wasn't enough... I doubt anything will come of it, given the blockers the UK seem determined to put in place, but on the off chance, at least there is an option there for someone. She is originally from Poland and her hometown is near the border to Ukraine, so is keen to do something.

  8. The BBC used to add "selected" lower league fixtures to Sportscene between 2012 and 2016, but they seem to have mysteriously dried up since then. Can't think why.

  9. I’m not viewing it like that tbh. The government isn’t controlling the football club, they are controlling the man who owns the football club. Loads of thicko fans complaining that this is unfair on Chelsea and their fans, that the fans are being punished. Chelsea fans have experienced the greatest moments in their entire history because of Abramovich. It’s nobody else’s fault that he’s in bed with a warmongering lunatic. Chelsea are one of Romans assets and therefore the sanctions will impact Chelsea. It’s quite simple. Hoping for loads more tears from these c***s and hopefully Chelsea will suffer enormously. Preferably by doing a Rangers.

  10. Harsh on Leanne imo, she always seems to have a decent knowledge of club form, players, etc and doesn't sound too condescending, probably the best of the pundits doing Championship games.

  12. After two cancellations, to wait until the 93rd minute to win the game and kill off any faint survival hopes Dundee might have had, was absolutely top-tier trolling from Saints and I applaud that. Obviously Dundee going down isn't as hilarious as St Johnstone getting relegated - jokes are never as funny when you've heard them several times - but sadly we had to put out own needs first. And there's a top six trophy we've got our eyes on. Sorry Dees, good luck next season. If it helps, the Championship looks absolutely pish.

  15. Unless there was a legitimate military target in the near vicinity that the Russians were aiming for and missed, then it doesn't matter if the hospital was deliberately targeted or not - either they aimed for and hit the hospital (and dumb bombs can be accurate enough against large, static targets still) or they casually tossed off a wing load of high explosives into a built up urban area for shits and giggles. Neither of which is a good look.

  18. These are two totally different concepts. I can only answer what you actually type. As I said above, your original quote was misinformation -2014 was supposed to be once in a generation. I note that you didn't bother to respond to my rebuttal. In the absence of a response, I make that two pieces of misinformation and counting The problem is that you didn't actually say "there is no sustainable evidence of a lead" You said "There's been no sustainable evidence of support" Support for indepedence was at around 33% in early 2014. It then rose to 45% at the first indyref. Since then, Yes has led by as much as 13% (Oct 2020) and No has led by as much as 8% (May 2021). Obviously, I'm excluding Scotland in Union's attempts to game the system with their ridiculous biased remain/leave question. The last couple of polls (see previous link) have shown Yes & No to be level.. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Yes has led in the polls on 35 occasions, No has led on 30 occasions and there has been a tie on 8 occasions. Please attempt to use more precise terminology in future. There is plenty of evidence that "breakup of the country" is currently supported by a figure somewhere between 46% and 56.5% of Scottish voters (excluding Don't Knows) . This figure has been sustained for a full 2 years. Conclusion - reframing your original statement does not change the misinformation originally provided. That's 3 out of 3 bits of misinformation so far! Whilst I would agree that power devolved is power retained, I don't support devolution. The only reason that the Westminster Government allowed the limited devolution that Scotland currently has was "to kill nationalism stone dead" (George Robertson - Secretary of State for Scotland - 1995). How's that going? However, your view that "people of the potential breakaway area" should have no say in any future decision relating to Scottish independence is in clear breach of the United Nations support for the right to self-determination. Indeed, many leaders of the Tory party have reaffirmed this principle, even though they haven't been consistent in their views. According to Margaret Thatcher, Scotland only had to elect a majority of SNP MP's to gain independence. That happened, so the goalposts were moved, and we were told that it had to be confirmed through a referendum. David Cameron agreed to the referendum, and was quoted as saying: "You might want to think 'well why are we having this referendum, why take the risk?' I think it is the right thing to do for this reason. The Scottish people elected in 2011 a Scottish National party government in Edinburgh with Alex Salmond at its head. One of their policies was to have a referendum on the future of Scotland being a part of the UK. "I felt, as the prime minister of the UK, I had a choice. I could either say to them 'well you can't have your referendum, it is for us to decide whether you should have one.' I think that would have led to an almighty and disastrous battle between the Westminster parliament and the UK government and the Scottish government and the Scottish first minister. So I did what I thought was the right thing, which was to say 'you voted for a party that wants independence, you should have a referendum that is legal, that is decisive and that is fair.'" So, to recap, the Tories have not always run on the promise of not holding a referendum. This has been a recent development, which breaches the UK's treaty obligations and the UN charter. Misleading count? Four out of four. And finally How about some evidence to back up your bald statements? Here's one view: 1) If a power isn't reserved to the UK government, it is within the competence of the Scottish Parliament 2) Referenda are not listed within the reserved matters. Accordingly, it may be within the power of the Scottish Parliament to introduce a bill 3) There are a majority of current Scottish MSP's that would support an Independence Referendum Act, so it would be likely tthat the bill would pass and become an Act 4) However, as part of the bill's procedural route, the Presiding Officer has to state whether or not he considers the bill to be within the powers of the Scottish Parliament. This view is not definitive, though. Legislative competence is a complex issue, and can ultimately be determined only by a court 5) As the judiciary have not had this final say, no-one can be certain as to whether the Scottsih Government can pass such a bill Accordingly, that's the Yoon Grand Slam. Five misleading statements out of five attempts. A fantastic acheivement for such a novice poster who has definitely not suddenly appeared after a banhammer. Let me congratulate you, sirrah!

  22. Roman Abramovic sanctioned and his assets, including Chelsea, have been frozen. Some suggestion this means they are not allowed to sell any tickets and their club shop has to close as well, although season ticket holders may still attend matches. In other news, four new signings have been announced at the club.

  24. At this stage of the season nobody should be saying "look to get a draw here" as when you approach games like that you more often than not you become unstuck and end up getting beaten 1-0 with an 89th minute goal against you. It is simple we have 8 games to go in a very tight league (where any of the top 5 teams can still win the league are still 24 points to play for) so imo we go for the WIN in EVERY game. I would rather do that and if we fall short at the end of the season then at least we can say we went for it rather than being "cagey" going for draws and end up say 2 points short from the top and look back saying we could have been more adventurous. Through illness i could not attend the Dunfermline game but watched it live on AFC TV and one thing i was not a fan of was the "live league table" (when we are top of the league) which i think just comes back to bite you in the erse and you are just tempting fate, as i say only my opinion and others might like it but i find it the same when there are still a couple minutes to go in the game and somebody says " well that is a decent result" - then bang the opposition score in the last minute!! Also forget about all the other teams results during the game, concentrate on OUR result then worry about the others when our game is finished. We can do this - C'Mon the Red Lichties - 36-0.

  30. I've just seen that under the sanctions on Abramovich, Chelsea can't sell tickets for games. Only season ticket holders can attend matches. They can't buy or sell players or give new contracts, they can't sell merchandise. Excellent news. Hopefully they go bankrupt and revert back to being a shite yo-yo team.

  33. We hear a lot about away grounds being 'hard places' to go but not enough about which grounds are 'easy places' to go. Since last night is likely going to be our last game at Dens for a while (or ever?), i'd like to thank Dundee FC and their fans for making their home ground such an easy place for us to go over the years. Since 2012 we have played eight games there. Won five, drew two, lost one. The sole defeat being a meaningless end of season tie in 2013 when Bomber's team were all but relegated and we were focussing on a cup final. Even when they were in the top flight and we were in a Championship relegation battle in 2017, we still went up the road and dumped them out the Scottish 0-2. If you do have a new stadium or some Ponzi style ground sharing arrangement by the next time you host us, i will miss that old place and the points it brings. Let's hope our Dundee domination of you doesn't end with the demise of Dens Park.

  34. Yknow, I had thought I'd lost all sense of encouragement up until reading this. Now I feel arrogantly confident that we're going to be alright. Also for the record, I just want to say that since we're now in the exact situation that Hearts were in prior to that fateful vote, you definitely were too shite and blatantly deserved relegation.

  35. Keep reading comments along the lines of ‘we weren’t that great’. When have we ever been this season? We were dire when Jim persisted with 3-5-2. When he changed formation, we get a wee six or seven game run where results pick up, but they weren’t all wins. A run that seems to have convinced Cormack that Jim is the hot new kid on the managerial block. I might be wrong, but I don’t think we won any games by more than one goal, and I don’t remember many, if any, scintillating silky performances. Even in Jim’s ‘wee run’ that had Cormack on the phone to Fitzy, we had games like that spunked-away draw at home to Motherwell, and we remain Scotland’s top flight draw kings. I’ll keep turning up hoping for that day in the league where we ‘are great’ and run out easy 3-zip winners with Ronan and Henderson looking like Xavi and Iniesta… but it’s more likely that we grind out, or shitfest, our way to 1-0s or 1-1s. Not knocking our boys, not at all. They are gritty, their effort is great, we certainly have a squad of triers, and Curtis Main. Goodwin was definitely a decent manager learning his trade at the perfect club for him, and while not off to a great start, maybe Robinson just needed a wee break to go his way, which we got last night. Shitfest our way to a 0-1 on Saturday please.

  37. Robinson was a minute away from getting booed off tonight, you could tell with the lack of subs as the game went on that folk were not very impressed in the stand. We should’ve been far more comfortable - Jones was not very good tonight, a rare off day. Marcus Fraser should be in that team ahead of Tait every single game. Don’t think any Saints players were particularly brilliant, good to see Brophy back.
