  2. A lot of utter nonsense in here regarding his ability. He was very clearly the best midfielder in the league for the best part of a decade and also had a very good Scotland career which was only slightly marred by the retirement and subsequent u-turn. The personal circumstances that led to him not moving away from Scotland are very well-documented and it's hugely unfair to use that against him.

  8. There's nothing wrong in principle with a club our size having a DoF. Holt was a dreadful DoF, that doesn't mean that the position isn't always needed.

  10. A helluva lot of people getting their knickers in a twist about Scott Brown. From my point of view I absolutely hated him when he was with Celtic, loved him from July until December last year when he really wasn’t a waste of a shirt that some Aberdeen fans on here are saying (one anyway), and have been pretty indifferent to him during 2022, apart from waving Ryan Kent bye bye. Not sure why some non-Celtic fans are getting all upset about him being called a Celtic legend. I’ve no idea whether he should be considered a Celtic legend or not and it’s got nothing to do with me, but if Celtic fans think he’s a Celtic legend then he’s a Celtic legend. I would thank him for most of his time at Pittodrie.

  12. That's a proper relegator of a goal really. Dundee clinging on desperately for a point they didn't deserve, only to lose it with practically the last touch? They aren't coming back from that.

  15. Interesting to note this bit of the statement too: Football has changed over the years and we as the Board feel that Susan with her HR and Small Business experience is uniquely qualified to help the club adapt. The players and fans of today are very different from the era in which many of the current Directors grew up and to survive the club must change the way we develop and support all of the Raith Rovers family whether that is players, club staff, volunteers, fans or the wider community. For this reason, we have also asked Susan to be the bridge between the Football Club and the Community Foundation. We really appreciate Susan accepting the challenge and know it is the responsibility of the Board to assist her with the implementation of the changes that she will undoubtedly recommend. It's not exactly how I'd have phrased it, it's a bit "I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, and now what's it seems odd and scary to me!" but it's an actual acknowledgement of the issue that exists in the boardroom and that led to the Goodwillie situation. It's the closest we'll get to an admission of "We're all old white men", which needed to be recognised and rectified for everyone to move forward. This is the first tangible evidence that things will get better again.

  17. I didn’t like his pantomime villain act, even at Aberdeen. But I have to say, the amount of players that fell for it was astounding. I can’t think of a more obvious wind up merchant over so many years and watching opposition player after opposition player have an absolute heads gone with him.

  20. Brian Graham can be one helluva frustrating player to watch 90 minutes a week, but let's not start without him again if we can avoid it. Cammy Smith also improved us when he came on and helped the ball flow into the final third, rather than get lost by aimless kicks down the touchlines. These Battle of the Somme type 1-0 wins on this disgrace of a surface are growing on me. Keep it for next season and pack our squad full of absolute scumbags and hatchet men.

  21. A complete waste of a talent who like so many others chose to booze, kebab and silk cut his career away safe in the knowledge that he only had to be better than one other team to get the undying adulation of idiots. Thankfully modern Scottish players don't seem to have such limited ambition and we are reaping the rewards. Still embarrassed for him against Poland at Hampden running about like a bairn chasing a balloon in a gale trying to get near the Polish midfielders.

  23. I'm sorry but when you join a league that's what you sign up for, not bale out as soon as you are unable to win anything. We can't all be winners but if everyone was to take that attitude then there would be no league at any grade. What about the clubs that have already played Pollok and forked out for pitch hire, all for nothing now. If the league is going to work and grow clubs must stand by their commitment at the start of the season. Its all very well saying that the players will not be lost to the club, its the integrity of the league that's at stake.

  34. If Brown’s “mentality” is so strong how have Aberdeen sunk like a stone with him as captain & assistant manager? How did Celtic blow the 10 in a row season in the face of the first serious challenge they’d had in that time? Where did this “mentality” disappear to on international duty and European nights? I don’t think dominating games and then jumping up and down in the faces of guys who you’ve just pumped 4 or 5 nil and who earn a fraction of what you do indicates a strong mentality. Quite the opposite in fact. He is the very definition of a flat track bully.

  37. I must have missed the interview where he said he should be starting ahead of Robertson and Tierney and that's why he's dingying an U21 call up. He's better than Greg Taylor and should be in the squad ahead of him. Numerous players have continually pulled out of national squads for varying reasons, Tierney used to do very similar where he'd play for his club either side of the national breaks but not for Scotland - the assertion now amongst fans is it was Celtic and injuries behind that. What's to say Bologna aren't telling their number 1 left back they'd rather he didn't go and play a pointless U21 game because they're worried about a niggle he's got? Even if it was Hickeys choice, I really couldn't care less. It looks like he's worked professionally to me to be playing at the level he is at 19 and as far as I'm aware has said he wants to represent Scotland. And FWIW, most others on that list mentioned above have already had a full cap for their country, including both Spanish boys who no doubt have terrific competition in those positions.

  39. It's entirely his business where he lives and works and I won't criticise him for staying in Scotland. He made a load of cash and won a bunch of medals, albeit he couldn't have failed to win most of them. But let's not pretend he's some big deal in the pantheon of Scottish footballers. He really isn't. No achievements outside Scotland. No major tournaments with Scotland. Loads of medals won with no opposition. He's made a load of money from football and set himself up for life. That's a great thing. But he's in no way a big deal. Let's be honest, he's a dick.
