  1. I'm just glad there are people on here standing up for the human rights of that oft-persecuted group, sex offenders.

  2. You’re right, apart from the fact you’re wrong, you’re right. Tell you what Alan, go into a sheriff court hearing a civil trial and tell the sheriff he’s a diddy, then when you’re done for contempt of court defend yourself by saying you can’t be guilty because it’s not a court of law. Please do this.

  3. See if you know f**k all about what has gone on, why offer an opinion? "All we know is two people had sex with a woman" isn't remotely accurate. If you read the case there is much more known about the evening, which is why a civil court judge was confident in saying he thought the woman was raped. No money has been paid to the victim. If you'd bothered to read her piece in the paper (that you reference in your post but clearly didn't bother to read because who cares about a poor wee rape victim) you'd know that and why. Again, if you had bothered to do even a wee bit of research you'd see that this is actually a very typical case of rape and how our justice system deals with it - numerous cases don't make criminal courts and it was only down to the victims determination that it had gone through a civil court. Most cases don't see any judge. It's nice you feel sorry for the victim whilst simultaneously hoping this all blows over, cause the poor wee lamb Goodwillie has suffered enough.

  6. Can you believe there are people on this thread who work, operate machinery, make decisions? They have children and look after pets. They vote. God help us.

  7. Ok, well in that case I’ll continue in my view that he should not be allowed to play any form of professional football in Scotland, and that any club who employ him are utter scum.

  8. I think some people seem to think the civil judgement amounted to someone sitting down for 5 minutes and saying, "ach, he probably did it" rather than a process that heard from multiple witnesses and experts. It was a thorough and rigorous process. And absolutely damning. And let's not forget that the subsequent appeal was rejected. So this isn't some arbitrary judgement either. The failings of the Scottish legal system when it comes to violence and sexual violence shouldn't be used as a smokescreen.

  10. Oh Clyde what have you done? You had 4-5 years of him flying under the Radar and moved him on for a nice wee fee to the second dumbest board in the SPFL. (Clearly yours is now No1). Why oh why would you take him back now he’s raised his head above the parapet. This will bring the whole shit show in your direction and probably see the transfer fee you received for him now called out. I honestly thought no club was dumb enough to take him. To the decent Clyde fans who want him nowhere near their club, you have my sympathy.

  11. I’m not sure what your interest is in this mate but the irony of someone from Camelon on here calling folk junkies and knuckle draggers whilst at the same time defending a rapist is off the fucking charts.

  12. When less than 2% of rape cases even lead to a charge never mind a conviction, the lack of a criminal conviction - especially when followed up by a guilty civil verdict - should be getting used to highlight massive problems with the criminal justice system, not used to justify a remorseless rapist's right to play football.

  13. Incredible number of people who love "pointing out facts" on the issue of rape convictions.

  14. Unfortunately, as I understand it this is true. I don't know of the second entity but one is an individual who's been a considerable and long-time sponsor of Clyde. It would appear that the board has had to relent here under financial pressure from said sponsors (though who knows how our other ones will all feel now), and also under threat from fans vowing to push for an EGM if Goodwillie's return wasn't secured. We all know how easy it would be for large-scale regime change at the club given our ownership structure, and we all know the sort of characters that would be sniffing around to replace the current board. In this regard, I do have sympathy for the current custodians whose choice appeared to become a toss-up between signing Goodwillie and facing financial and structural crises that would destabilise the club's future - immediate and potentially long-term - enormously. In spite of this, I think the board should've held firm and stuck to their guns. The present - and coming - shitstorm was an inevitability, and quite why the "Goodwillie Legend" brigade thought this wouldn't do serious damage to the club this time around is completely and utterly unfathomable. NLC are now tweeting that they will review "all commercial partnership arrangements" with the club, which is really quite an ominous message given they're not even a club partner. There are folk on Twitter aggressively tweeting the rest of our sponsors, and even digging deep enough to find people who own or are involved with said sponsors to ask for their views. I'm dismayed at how all of this has played out. It's entirely possible that we have only seen the tip of the iceberg so far today. All this just to placate a number of people with a massive hard-on for a 32-year-old striker who recently demanded a move away from the club they're supposedly diehard supporters of. Deary me.

  17. The West is nicking money from Russians in the form of sanctions and tanking the rouble. This tit for tat measure is only justified. The world's smallest violin should be playing for the sacred private property rights of Western businessmen who were perfectly happy to work in Russia and join the kleptocracy until last week. They deserve to lose all their assets to state control and the trading ties completely reset at zero.

  20. The true reaction of the fans will be shown by those sitting quietly or not turning up. Not the idiots who chanted "we want our Captain back" when he was a Raith Rovers player. As a Clyde fan this is humiliating both for my club and personally. I'm certainly not looking forward to the snide remarks at work tomorrow. I'm totally demoralised by this decision and my hopelessness as to the future of the club. We've went from a club aimlessly drifting to actively self harming. All because someone had a stauner for a (almost) 33 old who wanted to play for another team. Finally, if Danny Lennon supported this loan signing he should resign along with all the other c***s.

  22. Appreciate Hibs.net isnt everyones cup of tea, but they have just donated £21000 to the Dnipro Kids charity (the one started by Stevie Carr in 2005 after Hibs fans visited Dnipro for a match). Stevie was on BBC Scotland this morning, he said they are thinking they may have to evacuate the orphanage due to the invasion but are not sure where they can safely go. Brutal stuff. https://dniprokids.com/

  24. Yeah, I thought Val did a great job at the start of this issue and her voice certainly helped save us the site of seeing rapist on the pitch in a Raith Rovers shirt and I will always be grateful for that. However, her recent comments do not cover herself in glory. The above comments seem like taking another opportunity to stick the boot to the board rather than a full and reasoned understanding of the situation. That post and her previous ‘Val McDermid vs Raith Rovers, there was only going to be one winner’ are disappointing takes driven by ego rather than a sticking up for what was right as she did initially with a strong moral stance.

  25. I'm not overly sure what else the club could've done at this stage. Paid Goodwillie up in full today and then see him go to Clyde at the end of the season anyway? With full acknowledgement of the original sin, I think this is the most pragmatic solution available. I'm still amazed that Clyde have willingly taken him back, but that's hardly a matter of consideration for the Rovers board when the alternative is just giving him one of those big novelty cheques.

  26. Yeah I’m sure the sponsors were really pushing for a high profile rapist to be brought back on board.

  27. If anyone from GB News is watching, there are loads of things I know nothing about that I'll happily go on telly and talk about for a fee. The history of the railroads of Belgium? Don't know a thing about it but I'll happily go on a bit. Croatia-Brazilian relations? Not a clue, I reckon I could drag an hour or two out for you. The best method for changing tyres on a Robin Reliant? Never done it, no idea about anything to do with it. Don't even know what one is. Sign me up.

  29. This is the email I've just sent to the club. I don't plan to stop going to games but will not support the club financially beyond the basic price of my season ticket (however small a gesture of protest that may be). I can actually understand (though don't necessarily agree with) the arguments for saying he should be allowed to continue playing football, with no criminal record. I'll leave it to people more qualified and knowledgeable than me to debate that (unfortunately, most of the people who like to debate it are braindead morons). However, I can't see any way, on the balance of all matters, that re-signing David Goodwillie is a good idea for Clyde. I'm genuinely shocked the club have been this stupid.

  30. If rumours are to be believed, folk put pressure on the board by threatening to remove funding if the club didn't re-sign their favourite player. I would like to put on record that I think those people are c***s who should be told to stick their money up their tone deaf shitters. *ETA. I hope those c***s read a little of this thread and feel just a little self awareness. Although I doubt it. C***s!

  31. If this is true then whoever has sanctioned this move should walk. The long term damage of this will far outweigh the benefit of having him back for 9 more games. And let’s be honest, we were going to draw enough games to survive without him this season, anyway.

  32. Regardless of discrepancies in the PPG between the two managers, there is more that remains the same than is different. We still cant lay a glove on teams above us, we havent climbed into the playoff places, we are still welded to a formation and a style regardless of how a game is unfolding. 0.25 ppg better off doesnt negate being in the same league position, with the same problems, and the same pish fitbaw on a Saturday.

  33. Have you actually read the report from the civil court case? There is plenty of facts there. Have you not seen the utter shitstorm of bad publicity and press directed at Raith Rovers? Which will now becoming our way and has already started with our landlords reviewing their position. On the football side, Goodwillie is undoubtedly a very good player for this level but he's nearly 33 and started missing a lot more games this season. Assuming we do resign him in the summer then he'll be back to commanded a significant portion of the playing budget and Lennon will be back to have to sign the next round of Munros, Balatonis etc to fill out the rest of the squad. Like a number of other Clyde fans I'm also fed up of the club only being well known for employing a rapist and a racist. This was a chance for a clean brake and to build a more balanced team that isn't just Goodwillie and 10 other c***s.

  34. For many of those so-called "two faced b*****ds", myself included, the reality is that there isn't much ideological opposition to David Goodwillie playing football. However, the opposition that this has been met with is the result of a variety of very new factors, including: Goodwillie's ultimately successful attempt to force a move away from the club he stated he was in love with and wanted to be at forever The manner in which Raith Rovers quickly became a near-unanimous figure of (inter)national attention and condemnation over his signing The intense financial, reputational and structural damage which the signing did to Raith Rovers - something Clyde were lucky to avoid for so long The fact is that a reasonable proportion of fans who maintained their support of the club throughout his first spell at the club did so in spite of Goodwillie's presence. Not every fan regarded him as a club legend and a personal hero like many do. What good would "whimpering" have done throughout those five years when absolutely nothing would've come of it, given his on-field importance and messianic status among parts of the support?

We're on safari in Kenya at Muthaiga Golf Club. Playing at altitude which will knock a few hundred yards off the 7100 total. Dry and with fast greens it should play a bit 'linksy'. All eyes will be on one of the PGA's flagship events, the Arnold Palmer Invitational at the great man's Bay Hill Country Club. Tough, classical course and plenty of Florida sand and water. Tons of top names attending and we're going double points here. And finally, we have a third event this week at Coco Beach, Puerto Rico, for the lesser lights on the PGA to try and pay their bills as the tournament scheduling gods conspire to give me a fucking headache updating the tables next week. No i dont mean ww3 i just mean, the world in general is absolutely fucked, from governments beholden to foreign powers, large companies that plunge people into fuel and food poverty in developed countries by raising prices massively yet turning record profits, a public who care more about im a celebrity than political corruption and believe things written on the sides of buses. The world is absolutely fucked. I genuinely cannot believe what kind of planet we are leaving to our children.

  45. Well aye, anyone trying to put themselves forward as anything other than a jobber on a football forum here probably needs to get over themselves. However, most folk actually enjoy discussing the football with a bit of petty patter thrown in. The reason most of us come on here and not on a one club forum is because there’s a decent level of Good faith patter to be had with fans of opposition clubs, with the occasional meltdown to keep things interesting. Your wee tirade last night just makes a thread all about you and whatever point it was you were trying to make. It’s really fucking boring and is seriously much better suited to the one club echo chamber.

  46. There's an unwritten law with cubicles too...in our office there are banks of four of them, and the middle two are by far the least shat-in....everyone gravitates towards either Trap 1 or Trap 4, and will only use one of the middle ones in extremis. Which reminds me of a time I was reading the paper while launching a big brown submarine down the Clyde, when somebody came rushing in in a hurry, went into one of the middle ones and basically exploded, following the initial onslaught with a quavering sigh/groan combination: "Ooooaaaaggghhh..." Somebody in one of the other cubicles started laughing. So did I. Eventually the entire row of cubicles had someone sitting in them with their trousers at their ankles laughing uncontrollably, to the point where somebody innocently walked into the bogs a minute or so later, heard us, went "f**k that..." and walked back out, which only set us off again.
