  1. So as we start week 2 of this: The positives Goodwillie will never play for Raith Rovers The negatives We are down over £200k (£150k in wages/£50k+ fee) for nothing We’ve lost two major sponsors We’re down 2 directors We’ve lost our fans rep We no longer have a Women’s team We have lost Raith TV We no longer have an employability manager We are down roughly 400/500 fans We don’t have enough volunteers to run the full matchday experience Not one single person still at the club has been held responsible or resigned over this There’s been no apology to Denise Clair or victims The four directors who thought this signing was a price worth paying are still making decisions about the future of our club And that’s all before you even begin to consider the reputation damage. Yet the club still seem to be ‘nothing to see here’

  3. As an outsider (Morton Fan) I have to say that as much as the Raith BOD have come out of this episode badly, I think the backlash from Rovers’ fans and sponsors has woken people up to the double standards that exist in football. This response has made a UK wide impact in a way that I don’t think I’ve seen before in similar situations, where it’s been paid lip service and pretty much swept under the carpet. I say well done to the Raith Fans, Sponsors, Ladies Team and everyone else who’ve not just spoken out but have take brave and tangible stances by their actions.

  5. Stealing the thread idea from @HibeeJibee, as we enter into the final months of the season it might be worth a look at the possible coming and going between the HL and Tier 6 Leagues. First of looking at the Highland League, Fort William were the massive favourites to finish bottom, but having brought in players that have seen their performances improve - they could escape the dreaded playoff with an Albion Rovers-style escape. In 17th is Turriff United who seem to have really fallen from grace in the past few seasons, since their backer stopped investing as heavily iirc. Turriff have a seven point buffer on the Fort but that might not be enough especially as the two still have to play. Fellow "newboys" to the Highland League and pereninal sufferers Strathspey Thistle lie in 16th sitting a point ahead of Turriff - so are also in the mix. The Table 16. Strathspey Thistle P20 W2 D4 10pts - 44GD 17. Turriff United P24 W2 D3 L19 9pts -50GD 18. Fort William P19 W0 D2 L17 2pts -76GD Upcoming fixtures Fort vs Strath on the 19th February is a must-win game for Fort - the previous encounter finished 7-3 to the speysiders - but Fort have defo improved since then and will be an interesting gage on how much they have improved under the new manager. Date Fort William Turriff United Strathspey Thistle 9th Feb Brora (A) Inverurie LW (H) ----- 12th Feb Wick Acad (A) Deveronvale (A) Formartine Utd (A) 16th Feb Keith (A*) ------- ------- 19th Feb Strathspey Th (A*) Rothes (H) Fort William (H*) 26th Feb Clach (A) Fraserburgh (A) Brora (H) 2nd Mar Nairn County (A*) ------- ------- 4/5th Mar Lossiemouth (A) Formartine (H) Nairn County (A) * denotes Fort "home game" The North Superleague (or Grampian League - as its supposed to be getting renamed) is really a one-horse race as Banks O'Dee are running away with the division. Fortunately they are licenced which means there should definitely be a playoff come May. Bridge of Don Thistle are on the same points but have played 6 games more because of BOD's Cup commitments. Culter and Hermes both could catch Thistle and would be teams to keep an eye out for in future seasons. Banks O' Dee are the only one of the top four licenced. Not doing the fixtures for this as Banks will win the league, so there's little point, but also because none have been released AFAIK. The North Caledonian League A joy to many on here is that the North Caley is now a bone-fide part of the pyramid and is thriving - having come close to collapsing a few years back. Clothing company Loch Ness (yes I was one of those guys who bought a shirt) are currently on course to win the league title as they are seven points clear of Invergordon with only five/six games to go. Golspie Sutherland and Orkney are both nine points adrift of the league leaders. Golspie are the only side in the league with a SFA Licence and none of the other clubs look like getting one anytime soon so it's very much only them that can be promoted to the HL. The Table Fixtures Loch Ness don't play for over a month, but have huge game against Invergordon in mid-March as Golspie and Orkney play each other. Golspie and Orkney must-win all their games to stay in contention. Date Loch Ness Invergordon Golspie Orkney 19th Feb ------- Orkney (H) St Duthus (A) Invergordon (A) 26th Feb ------- ------- Thurso (A) St Duthus (H) 12th Mar Halkirk (A) Bonar Bri (H) Alness Utd (H) St Duthus (A) 19th Mar Invergordon (H) Loch Ness (A) Orkney (H) Golspie (A) Midlands League First season of the new league and East Craigie have taken everyone by surprise in running away with the division. The Shipbuilders have recently bested Lochee United and can only be realistically caught by nearest challengers Carnoustie Panmure who have slowly caught up with the Dundee club in the last few weeks. The two clubs that are in the process of Club Licensing are Lochee United and Tayport, are currently sitting ahead of free-scoring Broughty Athletic in 3rd and 4th respectively, but would need a minor miracle to catch both the Shipbuilders and the Gowfers. However, with a 36 game season - there is still a bit of time for the two big boys to get their act together. The Table: Fixtures None of the big head-to-heads are scheduled in for the rest of the month but with floodlights installed at Tayport, Broughty and Lochee United - we might see more getting penned in. Regardless, shouldn't imagine too much change to the league table other than Carnoustie possible going top as they play games in the Shipbuilders' rest weeks. 5th March is the big game though. Must-win for Lochee United if they are to stay in the title fight. Date East Craigie Panmure Lochee United Tayport 12th Feb Blairgowrie (H) Coupar Angus (H) Violet (A) Broughty Athletic (H) 19th Feb Downfield (H) Forfar West End (A) Scone Th (H) Coupar Angus (A) 22nd Feb ----- Lochee Harp (A) 26th Feb -------- Arbroath Victoria (H) Downfield (H) Forfar West End (H) 5th Mar Lochee United (H) Kirrie Thistle (A) East Craigie (A) Arbroath Vic (H) TL;DR it's going to be Banks O'Dee vs Fort/Turriff or Strathspey in the playoff

  6. That could be quite dangerous. You’ve probably considered this but the club should do nothing of the sort without having her written consent first. I know she is already named in numerous sources, but she might not want that sort of attention on her. A good step would be for Raith to find out what she thinks would be a positive step in terms of public apologies/statements.

  7. Interesting to see how many there are up here, looking back for William and Kate’s wedding, Scotland had 13 street parties (mostly in Edinburgh) and then for Harry and Meghan, only 1 in the entire country. There’s definitely a lot less fucks given up here in general to the Royals outside the odd super Unionist Rangers fan down the Orange Lodge. Hard core Royalists are total oddballs as far as I’m concerned. I’ve nothing against anyone who wants to keep the Royal family don’t agree with them but knock yourself out everyone’s entitled to their opinion. But the ones who deck themselves out like a human Union Jack to go celebrate the birth, marriage or still no dead yet of someone they’ve probably never met and would step over them in the street are absolute weirdos. Should end the whole circus when the Queen pops her clogs. Bowing to people just because they were born into the right family in the 21st century is embarrassing.

  8. 100 years ago today we broke the world transfer record to sign Syd Puddefoot from West Ham. Still the only Scottish club to do so 3 years later he was sold on to Blackburn where he scored a shed load of goals for them as well and was capped by England If he was still alive today aged 126 I'd still have him in our squad ahead of Jamie fucking Wilson

  9. I don't really care about the fixture imbalance. Some people get tremendously worked up about it, I don't think it's a big deal. I don't really see your point about stopping a late push for Europe. It doesn't. Every team knows that the cut-off point for being in the top 6 is 33 games. If you're not, then tough shit. 33 games is when you need to make your late push for. Similarly, if you've scrambled into the top 6 after 33 games, you don't need to worry about bombing into the play-off or something. That's your reward and everyone knows 33 games is the point you need to do that. So, I don't really think you've got a point on that one.

Easy to feel down but there's plenty of parents either side of us who would swap seats with us. Some real heartbreaking stuff you see people going through. Life just trundles on work wise etc, a bizarre existence. Nearly 3 months in here. The staff are amazing, anyone from the Surgeons to the cleaner who knows us by name and comes to say Hi. God bless them all.

  13. My mask has been thrown in the bin tonight. I've been sticking it on going into shops or indoor areas up until now purely to avoid any hassle, but tonight I went to a gig at the concert hall and was stopped from taking a pint to my seat and informed I could only drink water mask free at my seat. At this stage, when everycunt around the world is removing restrcitions, we're still fannying about with pointless shit like this. I cannot fathom what venues or government p***ks think they are achieving with this shit, nor can I fathom what science is being followed.

  17. Wouldn't be good for Rovers. DG playing for Clyde again would only keep the whole shitstorm current and Rovers continually in the spotlight. Everyone connected to the club will be wishing this will blow over, die down whatever, but it's not going to happen anytime soon. Best thing DG could do would be to f**k off abroad and ply what's left of his career somewhat off the radar. Either way, Rovers lose. That's a lot of cash to fork out on a player who is never going to play. 200k+ ? Crazy money to throw down the toilet. Those responsible need to be held accountable both from a moral aspect and financial. Not many are gloating. This is a sorry episode and still can't quite believe that McGlynn, Sim and the rest could be so naïve. I don't buy into McGlynn not having much of a say in the signing. He's Mr Raith Rovers and clearly identified DG as a requirement and would seem not to give much consideration to the consequences. No denying he's club legend but he should do the decent thing and resign. The silence coming from the club is unbelievable and astonishing and not doing them any favours at all. Rovers have more or less imploded in the space of a few days and it'll be a long time before this sorry episode is forgotten. Sim holds the ace card. Everyone knows that much. The tricky bit will be finding someone that wants to buy him out. Not going to be easy in the current climate. Is ground sharing an option if it came to that? That said, fair play for standing firm. The supporters deserve a lot of credit. I like to think most club supporters would do the same if the shoe was on the other foot.

  20. Sporadic reminder, that I have very much not adhered to recently, that not responding to Raith Raver absolutely kills his presence. Just don’t do it, don’t respond to him and don’t give him oxygen. Like a couple of others I’ve hidden him and rightly so.

  21. Well that's handy, because I'm not fucking selling it. Believe what you like, I've got no inside track on anything that's happened. If I did, I wouldn't be holding back to protect this football club, not with what's gone on in the last week. This kind of whataboutery really has absolutely no place in this conversation, and it's exactly the kind of mental gymnastics I'm talking about. The matter at hand has absolutely nothing to do with Nicola Sturgeon's background or track record, and everything to do with David Goodwillie, Denise Clair and Raith Rovers. And as reluctant as I am to get dragged down this path, what's the logical conclusion of that argument anyway? Nicola Sturgeon didn't adequately deal with an abuser in her immediate circle, so... she shouldn't ever call out anyone who commits sexual violence, in the name of... consistency? Better to let Scottish society continue with its appalling attitude towards men committing sexual violence than be thought a hypocrite? I wonder what it is about women taking a stand against a rapist that makes so many men so uncomfortable? It's deeply troubling.

  23. Not sure that’s true. Hopefully society as a whole can be a winner as the story has brought the subject into the public awareness. If that means that the attitudes of certain groups of people regarding what they class as ‘harmless fun’ or ‘just being a lad’, as opposed to what they class as rape, may change then everyone is a winner.

  24. They were also quite happy to grant an unlimited number of people an exemption 'becos o mah assssma', when there was literally no other mitigation on the table. Their desire to police the habits of the majority who accepted a temporary measure without brass necking it will be filed in the bin where it belongs then.

  26. 21 divisions of 2 teams each. Each season to last a single week. Draws in games to be banned. Should a game end in a draw, then a game of "hit the crossbar" shall decide the winner. Winners get promoted to the league above. Losers relegated to the league below. I realise this means (as of today) that Falkirk would start in the 14th tier of Scottish football. And the mods here would have a hellish time creating and updating the forum each week putting new teams in the new leagues. But that's what they get the big bucks for. Think about it - a winning run could mean multiple promotions in a row. Open top bus parades for half the teams in Scotland weekly.

  28. Im allowing myself to feel okay about all this by remembering that there's absolutely no way a club at our level is going to go a full season without having a dip in form for a while and a spell of the season where we're shite. Happy that we got points on the board early so that we can cope with it, and reminding myself that we will come out of it at some point. The way things are going (thanks everyone else for being equally shite at the exact same time), we've got a decent chance of coming out of it, still in 4th with our shitey spell behind us ready to kick on for the rest of the season approaching the split and still in the Cup. I'm 100% convinced now that this is poor form as opposed to us being shite.

  29. Through this entire debacle I haven't heard or read anyone come out with this predictable and ridiculous line, surprisingly. Colour me shocked it's a Clyde fan who finally uses it. I knew when I was about 11 years old that rape is wrong. He would have been well aware of his actions regardless of his age.

  32. I understand the Charlie love in and he undoubtedly made the squad what it was last year but with the brown nosing of the rangers and his propensity for drink driving he can frankly get in the bin with McPake. Gowser too should have stopped getting contract extensions a few years ago. Need to stop the paly paly crap and start acting like professionals. The unprofessional behaviour has been at the club for years and has never changed because some key personnel haven't. It's sport. It's business. Not a clubhouse.

  33. Off the back of the Celtic fans falling over themselves on Twitter to offer advice on our finances I had a quick look at the numbers since we became fan owned in 2016...with 17/18 being our first full season of fan ownership: 16/17 - (£181,844) 17/18 - £1.72m 18/19 - (£435,970) 19/20 - £346,590 20/21 - £3.57m Oh...

  34. Aye, there’s a sliver of positivity in all this, and I mean a very thin sliver. The fact that fans have stood together and decided this isn’t good enough and demanded change is genuinely admirable, and I hope, but don’t expect, that it leads to better conversations in football and in society as a whole. We stood up to it, and I think we should be proud of that. I’m still angry that the statement last Tuesday suggested that the fans, volunteers and women’s team were less important than David Goodwillie, who apparently was part of our football family, and it’s interesting to see it’s been deleted. We’ll see what happens going forward, but it can’t be tokenism.

  35. Clyde FC is a small, local soccer club that has been around for over fifty years. The team is made up of mostly criminals, but they play the game with passion and integrity. They have never won a championship, but they have always been a part of the community.

  36. Obviously it's all personal, but I'm far more likely to get out of bed early to see Hearts play Falkirk or Patrick than I am to do the same for a game against either side of the Old Firm, or the fifth game of the season against Aberdeen. Never really understood the 'meaningless game' tag - I go to watch Hearts play and (hopefully) win - any meaning beyond that is nice, but not even slightly essential. And generally speaking, a large proportion of games every season are basically meaningless for most teams.

  38. I've already resigned myself to relegation tbh. As long as AJ is in charge we're going down. All the shit teams around us have had the balls to get rid of the biggest problem at their club and are starting to pick up results We're sticking by our shite manager and will be going down as a result. It's hard to muster any enthusiasm for games right now in all honesty. Ironically enough, the last time I felt so low following Queens was when Gus was in charge.

  42. A few points: - Carson is not employed by the club. His role, as a journalist, is to report on the match and club events in an non-biased manner. I don't think he was incorrect to tweet that. Chuck has not been up-to-speed in any of his games. Getting hooked after 7 mins would solicit such a tweet. - Marv's reaction, although well-intentioned, is reactionary and wrong. I want Callum to report honestly. He shouldn't be beholden to the management team as in the long term this would result in him 'keeping the club happy'. We do not want Callum to feel like he needs to keep management happy to do his job as ultimately, a good relationship allows him to get interviews etc., but this can't be dependent on the reporting they do or do not agree on. We don't want a Rangers like scenario of only 'buddy buddy journalists' operating at the club. (I am not saying we are anything close to the CCP style hold the Rangers have over the media room). - We should all be wary of how we criticise players - of course - but to think that the frustration toward the boy is racially motivated, or is worse due to outright racism, doesn't fly with me. Nothing about the criticism has been any worse than previous frustrations with players. I can't think of any time in the history of the club were we have any racial hatred towards our own, or opposition players. I would hope we as a club and supporters would call that out if we did see it.
