  2. Let me just get this straight. Cammy MacPherson has largely been dreadful, but we're dangerously short on midfielders. The obvious plan of action would have been to go about our business quietly, keep a hold of him until the end of the season for squad depth reasons, and then send him packing at the end of the campaign. Callum Davidson's solution: Offer him a thoroughly undeserved pre-contract, resulting in his current club taking him back and demanding money for his return. Is this correct?

  4. Come on, your not honestly that stupid, are you? What do you want him to say? The players are a disgrace? Some of these players won’t play again once we get new signings in? Be real! He’s not going to slag the players after they got the win. He’ll say the performance was well below the standard and the players know that, which any competent manager would say

  5. Was the same with us at the end of JR reign. If you bin CD, you can expect the same fuckin stupid backlash from Tom English etc "what do Saints fans want? He won them 2 cups" "know your place" etc etc All from fannies that dont actually ever pay to watch the same shite we pay £300/£400 a year for............

  6. Despite the score, The boyo had a Fantastic day today. His first time at a football game and, of course, he had a million questions He definitely wants to go back to Somerset and more than anything, see an Ayr goal. We toured Somerset park during the game because he "only has wee legs and can't stand too long" (Despite him dangling from the terracing railing for the majority)so we had to get a seat He loved seeing the team in real life, singing the songs and the atmosphere. Knows that another day, the score would be better Above all, he loved the Panda His eyes lit up as soon as he saw him Overall, I think we have another Honest man in the making and one very proud and happy daddy

  7. Bollocks, we controlled that game from start to finish, 3-0 flatters them, we just need to be more clinical, if we were it would have been 7 or 8

  8. Evening Lads, I come in peace Now we are both out the SC, should Killie & Ayr be asking for the Derby game to be moved from the 9th to Saturday 12th Feb? A bigger crowd you'd imagine and I doubt the SPFL would object because of the SC ties considering they allowed the Pars V ICT to be played this afternoon. What your thoughts, considering at present Ayr are scheduled to play 4 games in 11 days.....

  12. Before my mother in law passed away four years ago she decided to have a clear out so that the family wouldn't have to deal with all the stuff she'd accumulated over the years after she'd died, she had cancer and knew time was short. In amongst stuff earmarked for the bin was this beauty, an old 1980s pub tray. I rescued it. I'm sure it'll be appreciated by the fine gentlemen posting on this thread

  15. January Top ten as it stands going in to the final stretch: 1st @Hedgecutter 2nd @Smurph 3rd @Nkomo-A-Gogo 4th @Funky Nosejob 5th @DrewDon 6th @Arch Stanton 7th @mathematics 8th = @19QOS19 8th = @Central Belt Caley 10th @German Jag Congrats to @19QOS19 who no longer needs to wreck the hoose. Good to see @Hedgecutter take the top spot as @Smurph did admit to being a filthy cheat. Nine days left to consolidate your position, try to break into the January Top Ten, or just hit that training camp ready for the new season in February.

  16. The players should never have been put in the position of having to walk through the fans at full time. I found it quite uncomfortable to be part of and I've no doubt some people went over the score - but I think people have a right to be angry at this stage. We should have won in 90 minutes today. Kelty offered very little going forward and as the Premiership team we should have taken advantage of that. The big issue, however, is that we are so, so lacking going forward that we never took advantage and for huge, huge spells, didn't look like doing so. Against a League Two side. Inevitably, we made an error and were punished. The biggest concern was the absolute lack of a reaction to conceding. Only right at the very death did we force a chance, which, to be fair, we should have taken. We didn't, which pretty much sums it up for us just now. Today was entirely on the manager. This morning we read about not being wed to the system and playing the way that suits the players. Then we play the same shape again. There is a giant vortex in the centre of the park where we are so lightweight it is unreal - lacking in ability and fight. Our system relies on the wing backs having someone inside them to play with - be it a centre back coming forward or a central midfielder providing an option. Neither of those exist just now. But still we persist. The team selection is baffling. Midweek we played MOH at RWB - an attacking player at wing back against one of the better teams in the Premiership. Today we played James Brown - a player of very limited attacking quality - against a team that blew a two goal lead against Edinburgh City last week. It was apparent very, very early on that down the right was where we were going to get most of the space and time - but we persisted with Brown right to the end of the 90. We persisted in playing to him as if he was Shaun Rooney - a player with the physical attributes and attacking ability/intent to take the kind of balls that were fired at Brown today. When he did get the ball under control there was nobody ahead of him, nobody making a run, nobody offering a pass inside. It was tragic. Coming back to the middle of midfield - Davidson has signed three central midfielders. Crawford, Macpherson on a PCA and Butterfield. None of the three are good enough and it is so, so worrying, that Davidson appears to believe these players are the answer. I dread to think what the question is. We were obviously hampered at the end with MOH going off injured but sticking Cleary out wide was ridiculous. We'd have been better served putting Middleton out there and Craig on the left. The substitutions are just as bad - Ciftci off when we need a goal. Really? The only player with a spark that can make things happen by himself. Then once we removed him and Kane that's the point we start trying to put crosses into the box. I've held off and held off, but I think Davidson has to step aside at this point. I don't want him signing any more players and I don't want him picking the team against Dundee midweek. There is no hint at all that he's learned from the repeated defeats caused by the obvious issues and deficiencies in our team just now. Even more worrying, there's been a gaping hole in the middle of the park since August that has been staring us in the face. We should have had players identified to come in on January 1. They haven't materialised - unless Davidson thinks MacPherson and Crawford are those players, in which place God help us. The other signings are the right kind of profile - young, a bit of talent, something to prove. Will they improve us enough to get over the line this season? Time will tell but the signs right now aren't promising. Dundee on Wednesday is the biggest match of this season by a mile. We can't afford to lose it. Another defeat will surely end it for Davidson but is it a week too far already?

  19. No it’s not ridiculous. I took something like a 25% pay cut and dropped a shit load of benefits including a company car to change jobs away from one that was seriously impacting on my personal life, and as a result my mental health. Yes it wasn’t great to go from a decent and funded car to a Corsa and cut down on lot of luxuries but it probably saved my marriage and my sanity. And as a bonus 8 years on I’m now earning exactly double what I was when I started and there’s little stress compared to my old job. That’s not to bum me up, just show it can work out mid to long term. if anyone is unhappy, seriously unhappy in their job, I would advise them to change it when possible as soon as they can. You work to live, don’t live to work. Your happiness and mental health is much more important than status and money. Good luck.

  27. Kiltie feels like a new signing. Just when we needed it most. Delighted with that result. We seem to always win in Ayr nowadays but that was still potentially a tricky tie. Aberdeen up next, will be interesting to see how we get on and if that long corner has finally been turned.

  28. Woking V Wealdstone. 2-0 Woking. Red card for a Wealdstone player who tried to decapitate a Woking player with a Kung Fu kick! Despite being an Aldershot supporter. Back in the day I used to also watch Woking, long before they were rivals. This was my first visit back to Kingfield in over 28 years, so felt a wee bit nostalgic. A thoroughly enjoyable game in front of 2677 fans. Ticket £18 gets you to either sit or stand and programme was £3. And No I didn't bump into the Wealdstone raider

  29. Fair play to St Mirren , the best team won . Saints were stronger , cleverer and just better in every position .The Saints fan’s filled the Railway end and made it a proper Scottish Cup spectacle . Good luck to them in the next round . Some Ayr fans on here bragging about staying away in a kind of I told you so manner . Not really sure how to respond to that , so I’ll just let it float . It didn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that St Mirren were the best bet on the coupon at 7/5 . I guess I’m a glutton for punishment, turning up knowing full well Ayr this season are shit . Never mind back to the battle of the drop .....

  30. Auchinleck Talbot 0-5 Hearts No cup shock today, but a really enjoyable day out. Lovely ground and a good atmosphere. Talbot were definitely better than the scoreline suggested, but Hearts were clinical and clearly didn't want to take it lightly after last year's defeat at Brora.

  33. Covid itself, and scientific understanding thereof, seems to be moving at a fair old pace. For all folk can scream Boris is only.doing this or that to deflect, other coutnries are now reacting in a way we havent seen so far in the pandemic and it absolutely is going to make those who choose to refuse to keep pace look stupid. Its a bit odd to watch whats happening at the minute tbh. Class though to be heading throigh the exit door of the last two years. Way too much suffering has been endured in so many ways.

  37. In what possible world is being aggressive, to someone on likely low pay whos employer has asked them to make sure they ask people to abide by the rules, the correct course of action? If you go mental at someone who asks you to put a mask on its you being the arse in that situation not them. They don't make the rules and are just trying to get through the day. If you have a grievance about the rules air it with folk that can change stuff. After the pandemic has blown through there is still no need to act the c**t.

  38. Was literally the most predictable outcome possible. Play alright and take the lead to then chuck it away soon after. I actually thought we played some decent stuff which looked considerably better than Ellis ball but the lack of striking instinct is incredible. So many occasions we got into really good positions for nobody take a chance. Bob mchugh cannot start anymore, he’s absent in almost everything and adds zero value. Get a striker ASAP Special mention to Charlie Fox who continues to be exceptional at the back despite the dross surrounded by him. Genuinely looked our most dangerous player as the game went on and his driving runs and accuracy of pass to go with it is brilliant. If there’s any player in our current squad we should throw our money at, it’s him

  39. Well that's a frustrating afternoon. Probably had the better chances of the two sides, penalty aside, but we didn't convert and MacLean acting the numpty put us up against it. Do feel for McKee, I'm not sure where his arm is supposed to be in that scenario but these are the rules. Ramsbottom should save the penalty IMO but hard to hold that against a keeper. Sons players seemed to think it was an arm that blocked our shot at the death and if that is so it would encapsulate a truly terrible afternoon of refereeing from that wee toad. He's deardful every time we have him. That said, we can take some positives in that we defended pretty well despite Dundee offering very little they are still miles ahead of us in terms of players. If Duthie can work on not shitting himself in front of goal he'll be a really handy player, he was great today taking players on and stealing the ball back for us but again missed a good chance to score. Josh up front is one of those guys who won't play well every week but will still give your team a focal point, and defenders clearly don't like playing against him. I'm glad that we had a bit more shape about us even with 10 men. Good luck to the Dundee boys in the next round, it looks like you need someone with new ideas but clearly players in that team with talent. Aw the best lads.
