  1. I don't think I've missed anything else, so barring Aim Here popping up to correct my arithmetic it's time to congratulate long-time player and first time winner @Ned Nederlander - he had lots of picks and they scored highly. So much so that his last hit was at the beginning of September and still nobody got near him. A worthy winner. Thanks to everyone else who played this year. I'm not sure I'm getting any better at running this thing but more people keep playing every year, so something must be going right. If you're playing in 2022 then I'll see you there, if you forgot then... 2023 is just 363 lockdown-affected days away!

  3. Ok I take it back. He's a slevvering w**k. There's absolutely no justification for creating any uncertainty as far away as April on January 2nd. Firstly, the idea that we will have at least 10,000 cases per day for three whole months is ludicrous. Secondly, If the SNHS cannot handle fifty admissions per day then that is on the SG to sort out, not the public. The SG and their advisors need to take a step back from the limelight and shut up.

  4. Yes, for anyone still unclear as to the reasons for some fans' desperation to be rid of the presence of Gary Holt, or for those now falling over themselves to vigorously defend his ongoing employment, a quick glance at the league table tonight should make things a whole lot clearer for them. Shameful, shameful, shameful stuff. Mile and miles and miles behind Cove Rangers, and being massively outperformed by the likes of Airdrie and Montrose, vanishing well into the distance despite them possessing a fraction of our resources. He was appointed to the role on the 14th January. The performance throughout the whole of 2021 has been an utter, utter, utter disgrace. He's the Sporting Director. Therefore he oversees the football side of the club. Therefore responsibility for this mess lies at his door. No-one else.

  5. They joined the bod on the 7th of December. By the 10th they had appointed a new manager, by the 16th they had got rid of Grainger and appointed Kenny miller as his replacement and had an open meeting with fans to introduce themselves and answer any questions. We've had two weeks since that last meeting where I would expect all their time has been put into sorting out the many issues at hand left by the previous mob and agreeing budgets with the manager I would expect an update to appear in the near future but I'm not losing the plot because they haven't said anything regarding future plans for a fortnight.

  8. The largest 'supporters group' are FFC season ticket holders. Any updates/communications from sitting board members should come via the official site/email address. Perfectly acceptable for the FSS and Patrons to have their own sub communications to those members. Can only speak for myself but I work full time and have a young family. I make all the home games and some away - I don't have time to be going to Q&As or popping in for coffees etc to find out basic information.

  11. f**k off. How dare you question someone whose only reason for testing was to protect their elderly relatives. No one is more up their own arse in this thread and that is saying something. If someone is doing something, anything that they feel they is required to keep THEIR family safe that is f**k all to do with you and how a total Walter Mitty like yourself feels justified in criticising that is beyond me. You really come across as a grade 1 cock. Not hard to see how you were driven out of BWA onto here and to be roaster in chief on that site really takes some doing.

  12. Week 1 update One death this week, former newsreader Gary Burgess: Channel Islands broadcaster Gary Burgess dies aged 46 - BBC News Too much Dead Pool stuff today for me to add anything else. 13. I agree it's too soon to be writing off the board but the lack of communication has been surprising. I'm not talking about making statements re Goodwillie, but about basic stuff. Who they are, what the immediate plans are, when a chairman will be appointed, the fact McFarlane has gone etc. I don't know any of the board members but it doesn't feel like someone like Nigel Serafini (for example) is going to have a huge amount of time on his hands to be MD of Lothian Buses and also putting time and effort into getting things moving at Falkirk. Do they all have full time jobs outside FFC? Some basic info would be welcome even if it's just an overview of who they are and how they'll work. Also - I think every fans hope was that the first action would be to empty Holt and its concerning that he's still here. Martin Rennie himself has admitted that players are already lined up and that work was well underway prior to him coming in - I don't dispute R&M will have the final say but if everyone presented as an option is sh*te or Holt can't agree deals with any decent ones then we're in the shit.

  14. Somewhere out there in the multiverse, WM is being run by a left-wing government and all the relaxations and continued freedoms are being wholly endorsed and supported by the same folk who are currently screaming for further tightening. Meanwhile, the Tory supporters of the opposition are wailing that those in power aren't doing enough to protect lives and people's health and that the liberal 'do what you want' mob are fucking wrecking this country and this wouldn't have happened during WWII when everyone knuckled down together in the Blitz Spirit™ There are many folk on this thread who have left their previous political leanings at the door to actually focus on the issue and topic at hand without 'Tory said it so must be bad, SNP said it so must be good' coming into the conversation to cloud judgement. The people most concerned at this fact, for some reason, are the diehard SNP supporters like Danger and Bob who see this as a sleight at their party and their politics which is why they are so constant and disproportionately aggressive at the prospect of people who were previously SNP supporters being deeply troubled at the route they've taken. I'd be very interested to see the reaction of those posters in a situation where a left-wing government down south and a right-wing government in Scotland were imposing the same respective measures as we currently are seeing. I reckon they'd be firmly onside with the opinions held by many on this thread. I also can all but guarantee most of the people who are currently yelling bollocks at everything the SNP have said and done the last 18 months, would be shouting bollocks at the Tories imposing these, so in that regard, our opinions would remain firm regardless of the party implementing restrictions.

  15. Agreed. The FSS update is quite refreshing and credit where it's due - a good summation of where we are after the recent upheaval. However, anyone not seeing that this should have came from the club and not the FSS, FB or elsewhere is missing that fans shouldn't have to seek this out. Let the FSS publish the same or select snippets where their input as the 3rd-stool brought benefit but it can't be acting as the defacto board. The club is *the* definitive voice on Falkirk FC and the FSS can be the definitive voice for the FSS! They're not the same and shouldn't be in my view.

  19. Glad we are limiting football crowds to allow them to concentrate on core policing duties, though, like tackling dancing and ordering drinks at a bar. 6 vans to an incident they could easily have turned a blind eye to / gently have reminded the patrons on the current rules and fucked off seems like a great use of supposedly stretched thin resources.

  30. BYOS - you're getting worse. Cheer up for fecks sake. Get someone to give you a slap. I see a lot of the players giving it their all; your view on them isn't entirely fair at all. We have lost our way over the past couple of months, no doubt about it, and the manager has paid the price. We wouldn't have done that before so quickly, but we are a different beast. We've reacted to the situation we find ourselves in and I think we had to. All but a couple of Scottish clubs would be pretty happy to be where we are (or are going). Have a beer and cheer up. We have, though, underperformed, and I'm unhappy too. Hopefully we can turn this around.

  31. None of my friends are running the football club so I've no idea why you are suggesting that. And there has been communication as has been pointed out on here on numerous occasions. Trying to say there has been no communication in a month is simply tosh. I'm not a board sycophant and will be as critical of the current bod as I was of the last one if results are shit and the whole thing goes Pete tong. However , I didn't start slagging off deans mob after only 4 weeks in situ so I'm not going to start giving this lot pelters either.

  32. The Walter Smith tribute was very good on BBC. How can you get Walter and Ally McCoist, probably two of the soundest c***s ever in Scottish Football that aren't bitter welts at all, just love football and love their football team (old or new) while the rest of you arseholes are bigoted bitter wanks that hate everyone, catholic or not?

  34. Airdrie deserved to win although McCabe's free kick would have made it a nice 2 - 0. But the main reason for this post is to thank the Sons' co-commentators on the live stream. Great general knowledge about the away team and its players, and a surreal session on Wigan Athletic; still don't know what that was about but it added to the entertainment.

  36. I thought East Fife played some decent football in the first half but didn't show up in the second. Fair play to Montrose for taking their chances and playing some good one touch passages of play. Thought Elijah Simpson looked strong and useful and happy for Blair Lyons to get on the scoresheet again. Just a pity MacAlister grabbed an 87th minute winner for Cove up at Peterhead. Still, that's their business. All Montrose have to do is attend to their own. Another clean sheet thanks to Lennox and the pretty solid back line, marshalled by Dillon is another pleasing aspect of the game, from a Mo perspective. All in all a fine start to a Happy New Year, 2022!

  37. I was there (as were a few other Airdrie fans who were mostly well behaved) and I didn’t think Jordan Allan did much wrong. Dumbarton should have had a penalty at the end but that’s more than evened out by the disallowed goal in the first half, nevermind the Jordan Allan incident. It was a pretty poor game overall, the pitch didn’t help but neither side really got going at all. Dumbarton were very stuffy, playing a fairly narrow midfield three to presumably try and stop our diamond with Stokes (who was exactly like the player we had last year, I kept forgetting he was playing) in behind the two forwards. Dumbarton didn’t seem to have much intent to get forward, a few teams they won the ball and looked to counter but other than the two forwards no one was getting up the park. Defensively they were fairly solid, Edin Lynch was excellent and probably Dumbarton’s best player. He’s certainly a lot better than Buchanan in there going by that performance. They really missed McGeever’s massive head at corners too. Airdrie weren’t as good as the last few games but ultimately we done enough to get the win and I think undoubtedly deserved it. I remember a pretty poor 0-0 in bad conditions at Dumbarton a couple of years ago so it was good to see the team grind out a win today. McCabe strolled it and was very unlucky not to score from one of his many excellent free-kicks. Quite a few of our players weren’t at their best in terms of quality but I can’t fault the commitment and work-rate. This isn’t Dumbarton’s fault but having half of the stand completely empty today shows how daft the 500 rule is. Having 100-200 Airdrie fans in the away end is hardly going to make things crowded or cause much more of a risk than having 500 in the one side.

  41. Same I’m concerned that potential signings won’t sign for us until they know who the manager is. Even more concerned they won’t sign if it is Martin Canning. Would far rather we took a punt on someone like McManus or someone similar than Canning.

  42. I appreciate they have a lot to sort out but I am disappointed with the lack of communication so far from the new board. Frankly I’d have thought they’d be desperate to introduce themselves as soon as possible and lay out their intentions etc but so far we’ve barely heard a peep. Especially as we’re heading into another transfer window with Holt either still leading recruitment or being paid not to carry out his role- neither scenario is acceptable surely. I’m not saying this is the case, but we can’t have a situation where mates of patrons and board members are the only ones with access to information while everyone else is left in the dark. It wouldn’t be hard for that impression to form when you have a board that is meant to be balanced, but in actuality all the directors as far as I can see are patrons, even the ones nominally representing a different group.
