  7. No, it is worse than nothing. Professional football is a spectator sport. It is the fans who pay the wages of these glorified Herbalife salesmen - they are there to entertain the crowd (often in the loosest possible sense of the word), if that is not possible then games should not be taking place until it is possible. This halfway house pish on offer should no longer be tolerated as a viable alternative.

  8. I was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myleiod Luekemia) on April 30th of this year (I was 36 yrs old). I had been feeling fatigued and out of breath for a number of weeks and kept getting fobbed off with prescriptions. The final straw came when I had to sit on the kitchen floor to catch my breath half way through a sink of dishes while I was caring for my two sons of 4 and 2 at the time. I demanded to see someone and got my blood taken. Within 18 hrs I was on a private jet to Vancouver. I might not have seen that weekend out if I hadn't done what I did. It's such a gradual decline, I was still driving and going to work. I may as well have been pissed at the wheel the state I was in. Should never have been on the road. I got very lucky with my prognosis and I was treated for 7 months in Vancouver. Only chemo, no bone marrow transplant necessary. I am currently in remission and have been monitored for the last few months. Get a bone marrow biopsy in February next year and if I don't relapse in the first 2 years, chances are I'll be good. Worst thing was being alone in Vancouver during chemo and not getting to see my kids. There is a lot to be said for taking your health care into your own hands. Don't let anyone fob you off If you think something is wrong. Doctor's are like any other profession. It's the luck of the draw. #FuckCancer

  9. It's an absolute laughing stock that this omicron variant is so dangerous that the scottish government is able to wait 5 days from announcing the restrictions until they come in to effect which means that there's 3 premiership games tonight which can have as many fans at them as they like. Then you have that clown swinney on the radio today supporters shouldn't be going to these games tonight, what an utter fuckwit government we have. And no i'm not a tory and no i'm not an SNP, the clowns are all as bad as each other and that's been showing well and truly with this pandemic.

  12. Anti Vaxer libertarian types have no sense of social responsibility. Their interest stretches no further than themselves and you can be sure that they will avail themselves of the NHS in the event that they do become ill with the virus. No one likes the restrictions but we are living in exceptional times and I though I am personally scunnered that football is affected again I accept it’s a relatively small price to pay to combat this plague.

  14. So Falkirk are allowing in 380 season ticket holders on Sunday, with those who can’t get a ticket able to book tickets for the bar inside the stadium to watch a live stream. Absolutely insane rules from the SG Has Leitch been asked for the evidence showing it’s safer to have people packed into indoor pubs and mates houses (tens of thousands on January 2nd) than outdoor stadiums?

  16. I've never been a member of a political party but I'm now thinking of joining the SNP to demonstrate that the moonhowlers aren't perhaps making the dent they think they are. Anyone who favours independence who now won't vote SNP because of the response to covid needs more than a lateral flow or PCR test. They need their "heids looked"

  17. I wouldn't meddle with this. I remember watching a documentary about this. Not David Attenborough but similar. Anyway they tried to contain it on an island, got some clever scientists to have a look and it all went awry. There was a follow up documentary with the same outcome. Then another and another and another. Seems like a bad idea to me.

  19. I think I'm angrier now than I was yesterday. Yesterday's anger was a kneejerk "WTAF" reaction. This morning, I've thought about it more clearly, and I just can't see the justification for what they are doing. I've been broadly in support of what has happened up until now, if not necessarily in full agreement, because the majority evidence and data seemed to support the actions to an extent. This time, every shred of evidence on the Omicron variant (it's a variant, despite the media dropping the term variant in a bizarre attempt to seemingly promote it as something new altogether) shows that these measures/restrictions/whatever stupid fucking buzzword they are using this week are a total overreaction. I could almost just about grudgingly accept the idea of "We still need to be careful" if we only had the South African data, but there is data from the largest city on our island, which also happens to be one of the areas with the lowest vaccine uptake, that shows the "threat" is significantly lower than expected, and yet we are still imposing more restrictions. It just doesn't make sense, and flies in the face of their "following the science, following the data" mantra that they have been banging on about for the last 20 months. If, and it is now a huge if, there is something they have that actually shows that this could be a shitstorm, it needs to be published. Show us all the data, show us all the models, and actually justify why you are using the worst case scenario. I know they are absolutely shitting themselves about getting it wrong again after what happened at the start of the pandemic, that is totally understandable, but they are swinging towards getting it wrong at the other end of the scale, fucking over everyone's lives and jobs. And as other people have mentioned, it's utterly laughable that I could get married on 2nd January at 3pm in the centre circle at Tannadice, and have as many people as I like in attendance, all getting shitfaced, singing and dancing the night away, yet only 500 will be allowed into the derby 100 yards down the road for an event that lasts less than 2 hours. TLDR - seriously, SG, WTF are you doing?

  24. I'd like to have seen us follow Germany and place strict restrictions on those that are not vaccinated. You can't get into shops, cinemas, restaurants or leisure facilities if you are not vaccinated. Vaccination is to be mandatory by February there. They've limited football crowds to 15000.

  25. You know, quite a few on here are experts in fields from football management, politics and of course Covid 19. There is some amount of sh*t spouted on here at the best of time but come on. The SG are going into this mini lockdown costing the country millions of pounds, the same happening in Wales and probably over the border too in due course. I take it they just doing this to spoil everyone’s fun? What’s going to happen when the hospitals are full to the brim - look at the state we’re in just now recovering from the last Covid outbreak. If it keeps people safe. I say do whatever is necessary - we may miss a few games but a small price to pay. There is also the possibility that if the variant is mild as has been reported the restrictions may not last 3 weeks.

  26. That argument is bollocks for two reasons. The first is that those same people are likely already choc full of other vaccines. The second is that if they are right, and these new untested vaccines are so unsafe that everyone who's had them is gonna grow a second head and then die in the next few years, then I'd much rather be among the dead than one of the remaining few in a new post-apocalyptic society ran by anti vac morons like Laurence Fox and Snifter Piss Pot, even if they were proven right. Bring me sweet mutated death over that any day.

  27. Slowly losing all faith that anyone in the Scottish government has a clue what they are doing, and I say that as a diehard independence supporter and someone who almost always votes SNP. The new variant wasnt in the country at the time, but the Scottish and UK governments were absolutely desperate to host COP26 in Glasgow, with tens of thousands of delegates jetting in, as if the virus had just disappeared overnight. It achieved nothing (Amazonian deforestation to be ended 9 years from now?! There'll be none left!) and has probably contributed to as many cases as any other event. They haven't done a good enough job of explaining their thinking to people. Where is the evidence to suggest this will drastically curb things? Why football? Are there not many other sectors that are more dangerous than an open air space where it's easy to distance people? Why 500? Why not a % of the stadium capacity? 500 at Hamilton's ground is a very different prospect to 500 at Celtic Park. Is 500 a magic number where Covid doesnt spread but at 501 it does? The logic given is that they don't want to overwhelm emergency services. Where is Covid going between now and the 26th, its holidays? Why is it safe to hold full capacity games tomorrow, but not on Sunday? With 500 in the ground, why are they having only 1m distancing? If there is a public health danger, why not make it 5m? 10m? The 500 could be massively spread out in most Scottish stadiums. Still not seeing anything to suggest Omnicron is really worth all this fuss, given the huge amount of the population who are double jabbed and are getting their boosters. It feels like a huge step backwards to another point in the pandemic, the difference being that the seriousness of the virus was much, much greater then. Absolutely exhausting

  28. I've had to watch all our games in Falkirk TV or the away team TV since covid began. Not missed a game in that time home or away. This is due to having some vulnerable health conditions and not wanting to put myself at risk. While watching it on your computer is not the same as actually being there, you get used to it. I even buy catering packs of Bovril so I can have the compulsory meaty salty drink at half time. So if it turns out to be only 3-4 games, it will be ok for everyone. Plus you get to hear Louis say "on this occasion" X number of times a game

  29. Yes, but if you decide to take the "risk" of taking the vaccine (which is tiny), then not only are you protecting yourself but you are also protecting other members of society, particularly those perhaps more vulnerable than yourself. If you decide not not take the vaccine then you are not only endangering yourself but you are also endangering the lives of countless innocent people. All just to prove a point, eh? The Scottish government is IMHO doing the right thing, erring on the side of caution. At the end of the day, it is only a few football matches that we are missing, there are more important things in life, surely?

  31. The local pub / restaurant / function group put out a post earlier announcing that they had to cancel their hogmanay night (which is always fully booked) and offering those with tickets the option of swapping the value of the ticket for vouchers as well as a refund if they want it, which goes some way to highlight the cashflow issues these businesses are facing due to government advice / restrictions. They also, perhaps more soberingly, highlighted that if anyone wanted to, they could instead put the value of their tickets into a pot to be split between the staff who otherwise would get no wages. The SG have hung these places (and the staff) out to dry to play politics, and the £6k they have set aside for each business simply isn't enough. On the day they announced a pay rise for all MSPs too. Shame on them.

  32. I really enjoyed that, especially the second half once we'd got to the point we clearly weren't going to get pumped. Was listening to Jim on the way home about how most of the "first teamers" only came out of isolation this morning, that they'd had no time training or preparation for the match, and some of the boys had never met the first team players before, and under those circumstances that was really a bit special tonight. The league actually had to break their own rules to make is bring loan players back? Bet they wished they hadn't. The 7 minutes of injury time where Celtic failed to threaten in any way against a team that were practically at walking pace made it even sweeter. Back three were colossal. Lyness superb. Reid was brilliant in the middle with Kiltie, and the two young boys on the wings snapped away and carried just enough threat on the wings to at least cause a few scares. Well done lads!

  39. Definitely. Even Dunne looked like a defender tonight. Don't think the defence lost a header all night. Classic backs to the wall performance, although Lyness was rarely troubled in the second half. Probably take a couple of hours for my blood pressure to stabilise.
