  1. Just amazing last night. My first trip to Hampden for several years and if my doctors are right, probably my last. Finally though got to see Scotland take on a top side and dominate them. This was no Italy or France where we score and then set up camp on the 18 yard line for a smash and grab win. We really fucked them didn't we? What a great night. 11 heroes last night but Che Adams gets my vote. First time I've seen him in the flesh. Strong as f**k.

  2. It's fairly funny that Italy seemed to peak just to beat England in the final of their home tournament. Absolutely savoury.

  4. A frustrating overall performance from Adams? Eh? He was the best player on the park you lunatic. His hold up and link play were immense.

  5. Ally McCoist roaring “YEEESSSS” or some unintelligible orgasmic howl when we score is the sweetest sound in this Universe and I will fight anyone that disagrees.

  6. There was a beautiful point in the first half where we pressured them into so many mistakes they ended up just sclaffing it out for a corner like a bunch of League Two jobbers. Absolutely delicious.

  9. Was listening to the Danish correspondent on Sportsound a couple of days ago. He said that they respected our ‘togetherness’, but we don’t play a ‘sexy’ brand of football. Bet he feels really stupid now.

  10. In the rush to give players and Clarke a lot of credit (all due) I want to give some props to Austin McPhee. Since he's come in to specifically work on set plays we've played four games and in two of those games we've scored absolutely vital goals from well worked set plays. Our defending from corners etc looks much better too. A very shrewd appointment by Sir Steve.

  11. The sheer audacity from this fud to cherry pick when Scotland has 'the lowest levels of infection'. In the past four months we have seen periods of even greater infection rates per capita than England - and they haven't had any of this pointless, disruptive nonsense during that same time. The arse lickers simply cannot bear to admit how much their masters are making a c**t of this.

  12. It was almost like a typical visit to Hampden for me last night. Head to the ground with a wee bit of optimism and hope the team get a bit of luck against supposed superior opponents. Then leave after the game and see loads of folk with red scarfs and flags all looking a bit disappointed. [emoji6]

  13. It's just tiring. We're on a very good run of form right now with clear improvements in our shape and organisation happening in every camp, yet after every single game on here we've got weirdos posting 10 second clips of Billy Gilmour losing the ball or criticising Che Adams after 10 minutes of football. As I said after the last round of games, too many folk love to concentrate on the negative in this country and you reinforcing the fact that you thought Adams made mistakes last night, even after he had scored and bossed much of the game, encapsulates that. The boy's just ran his heart out and scored the goal that sealed the game for us, just lay off on the "aye but..." stuff and nobody would give a f**k.

  14. My wee boy's second game after Moldova and what a fucking experience for him. I waited 30 years for a performance and result like that! Gordon massive when called upon. SOD, christ I remember him running 50 yards in the first half to make a tackle on the 18 yard line! Cooper, Souttar, Tierney, three giants at the back. Second half Souttar cleared the ball out our box three times in a row in the same period of play! Robertson, one of his best performances in a Scotland jersey for me! Gilmour, how is this boy 20 years old? Much made of Denmark's form before the game and he ran the show against them. McGinn with another performance that shows why he is the new fans' favourite. In the mad crush to get in the bogs at half time the wee man says to me "we should use the old John McGinn move" Take ball in, shove giant arse in to opposition player, and either win a foul or proceed to burst past three players and play a worldie pass. I love everything about the way he plays the game. Mcgregor, hardly put a foot wrong. Christie, that quick 1-2 passing move he started at the edge of our own box that resulted in Adams shooting instead of squaring to Robbo... one of the best moves I've seen from a scotland team! As for Adams, led the line fantastically well and what a finish! I just cant help but rave about that performance. An absolute privilege to be there tonight.

  15. I'm surprised nobody picked up on Nicola Sturgeon explicitly saying that vaccine passports were, first and foremost, about increasing vaccine uptake which is why proof of negative test is not (currently) acceptable. It also seems "the opposition will always oppose" is the new "I make no excuses for keeping people safe". It's a disgraceful piece of rhetoric designed to shut down any debate rather than addressing the substance of the points being made.

  16. 1) it wasn't a play off it was a regular group game at the end of a qualifying 2) go and watch the game again, Italy had a perfectly good goal chopped off for offside, our equaliser actually was offside yet stood. the free kick at the end that everyone cried about, it was only a free kick, not a penalty and we stood about baw watching instead of defending it - - in any case it was 1-1 in the 89th minuet & a draw was no good to us, we had to win to qualify not exactly robbed we needed 3 points from our last 2 games against Georgia and Italy to be assured of qualification we got 0

  18. Now’s probably a good time to say I once saw John Souttar in Tesco Dalkeith circa 2017. He had a red face. He looked at me from a distance and smiled when he saw me. Like he knew me. Like I knew him. Like he knew one day we would fall in love.

  19. Something i've really noticed recently too. I've been going to games for years, but was often met with the 'what you bothering with that lot for?' type of stuff from pals etc, particularly during the Levein/early Strachan era. I think the general mood towards the national team was at a real low during McLeish's second spell, to the point where you couldn't give tickets away. Folk simply weren't arsed and at some points your average punter probably couldn't tell you who we were playing that week. Since the Euros i've seen a drastic increase in kids kicking about in Scotland strips, folk going to games and folk who completely ignored the national team or were apathetic at best previously, now taking a real interest on social media etc. It's great to see, and it's actually a positive that it's a wee bit harder to get tickets now. From some of the crowd shots tonight, the place was rammed with folk taking their kids and teenagers, which is what it's all about really. A few years ago Scotland games were generally attended by the die hard, slightly masochistic bunch like myself who went almost out of habit. Amongst the achievements on the park, creating a bit of a buzz around the national team and getting folk engaged again has been one of Clarke and this squad's biggest achievements so far.

  22. Just for clarity, would they need to make a separate bid for John McGinn's arse or do they come as a job lot? John McGinn's arse is an outstanding player for Scotland.

  23. There's no better example of how polarised and dogged public political support has become over the past few years than how people react to things in this thread. When I went to my first gig in two years last week I had to use my vaccine passport to get in and I was told to wear a mask the whole time I was inside. It seemed like much of the audience did although I physically couldn't - I would have been whiteying everywhere if I hadn't. I don't think masks make any meaningful difference to anything. I think the contexts in which we're supposed to wear them are contradictory and self-defeating. The idea of having to wear them in a crowded indoor space for a few hours at a time is ludicrous to me. If someone thinks they make a difference and wants to wear one, fine. Go ahead. I don't think vaccine passports are an appropriate measure for a democratic country to introduce. Aside from the issues with eligibility when the scheme was launched for people who hadn't had two vaccines, aside from them requiring various other objects to acquire one, aside from the increasingly large age ranges being prompted for a third vaccination and the inherent point that apparently within three months my passport is going to show that I'm not really protected against anything, the very notion of them is insidious. Why should we willingly have to show state-issued papers to go anywhere? How easy is it for the state to track the movements and habits of the entire adult population? I can use it, and I will, but as I've posted before I'm not going to vote again for any party/individual responsible for their existence. And yet, it's impossible to try and put this point across. Everyone on this thread who complains about restrictions and excessive caution is extremely pro-vaccine. They're extremely eager to be as free from Covid as they can be, and for everyone else to be too. They think there is a level of caution which goes beyond that and becomes restrictive, and are frustrated there isn't any suggestion of it ever mentioned by... anyone, as far as I can tell. The press certainly doesn't and if they're not holding the politicians to account then nobody is. The problem comes with trying to separate that. Nobody can. I've said what I think about vaccine passports. Yet when I went to that gig there were some gimps outside with a big banner about vaccine passports on it. I didn't look at them for long but I saw "Bill Gates" on it and knew immediately that they weren't worth interacting with. Yet, to the Welshbairns and the moustaches of this world, I'm a petulant child and a complete moron because everyone who doesn't think the way they do is wrong. The worst part about the sanctimonious p***ks on this thread who take great delight in laughing at people who've done all they can and get made to do more isn't that the polls suggest they exist in some sort of majority approval of things the Scottish government does, it's that they're completely unable to see the shite they post in here is exactly what they accuse the people they disagree with of doing.

  24. Had to put my cat Rilo to sleep tonight. A week of her in and out of the Pet Hospital trying to find out what was wrong with her with no luck. She still managed to look awesome though despite all the shaved bits and the amount of pain she was in. Save to say I'm heartbroken.

  26. I have to ask, how can it be that both Scotland and Raith are playing well? I'm not used to this feeling! As long as I can remember both have been pretty hard to watch with the odd stint of relief thrown in but I haven't enjoyed watching the football this much in a long time!

  31. Yes, I can point you directly towards the need to increase restrictions. It’s needed because the SNP in Holyrood have the power to do it, and are exercising that power because they can, and it makes them look more caring than the fuckers with different coloured rosettes operating out of Westminster. If the SNP can keep this charade going for another two months, they’ll get a home playoff against the Netherlands government.

  33. Would echo what others have said, that was the best performance I've ever seen from a Scotland side. I'm 33 and been going since 1996 regularly and can't think of a more complete, perfect, game. The Caldwell France game was obviously great, but I don't think we played as well as we did tonight (albeit that France team were superb). It was the confidence though, neat passes in spaces, not afraid to take the ball when opponents are close, looking for a pass rather than a hopeful punt. We have easily the best footballers in my lifetime as a complete package, and I think we've finally got a system that suits our players and helps us both to play but stay solid. Not a failure for me in that team tonight. Handsome Craig was great, the command of his box, especially that cross right at the end was great and it's something he's been criticised for before. Great save as well, know the flag went up but it was tight. Souttar was excellent, I have to hold my hands up as I've lived in Edinburgh for 15 years and been to a few Hearts games with mates and he's always been poor when I've seen him live, but he was composed, won a lot of the ball and a lovely finish for the goal. Cooper was very solid, easily his best performance for Scotland and a fantastic assist. Tierney was solid defensively too and I think it's testament to how well we attacked that he was quieter than usual, I think the early days of the 3 at the back relied on him as an attacking outlet too much. Robertson was good, got forward so much and was all out commitment. O'Donnell I think grew into the game after a nervous start but had a good 2nd half. Gilmour and McGregor really are excellent at retaining the ball, Gilmour's movement to find space is excellent and he's getting better every game for me, there was one moment when he rolled an opponent in the 2nd half and held his ground superbly. McGregor is really shining with him beside him, the confidence they have to take the ball and find a team mate with a quick pass I think gives confidence to the whole team. Super John McGinn was super again, his stamina is incredible, continuously driving forward even late in the 2nd half, he must be nominated for rear of the year. I thought that was Christie's best game since Serbia away, maybe topped it. He was off it last season but seems to have a renewed vigour at Bournemouth and great to see him put in a performance, worked hard defensively too. Special mention to Che Adams, the amount of times he took long balls in and held of Kjaer was incredible, the ball gets controlled and just sticks, time and time again he got us up the park, he must be a nightmare to play against. Such a well taken goal and unlucky not to get another. Just had a beer once I got home to sit and read through these threads, what a night folks!

  35. I was giving Clarke pelters after the Euros (especially the Croatia game) and I also didn't get the hype about McGinn. I know absolutely nothing about football. I honestly thought when Clarke took the job he's just stop us from being complete pish and get us back to the also-ran level of pish I'd been used to since 1998. The man is the Saltcoats Sacchi and I don't mind just fucking trusting everything he says from now on.
