  1. I wish I loved anything as much as WATTOO loves trying to tenuously link every possible event on the planet with false equivalencies and "culture war", "PC gone mad" "back in my day" bullshit. What a way to live, man. The line is so clear it's essentially luminous and visible from space. This is not complex unless you're a complete roaster. Don't shout anything racist, homophobic or bigoted in any way, don't shout anything that could be construed as bigoted (the "Black b*****ds" chant being an utterly perfect example), and don't wish death on people. Essentially, if you have a social conscience of any kind, and you'd be embarrassed at everyone you know - your mum and granny, your work, your weird auntie, etc, etc - knowing that you've been roaring something, then that's also a pretty good indicator that you shouldn't be using it. Call them a "fucking p***k", chant "w****r" at them ad nauseum, advise them succinctly that they're "fucking shite". No one is, or has ever, or ever will discussed / discuss banning swearing from football grounds. Just don't be a fucking arsehole, basically.

  2. Shocked to see you coming out with these sort of false transphobic tropes. Their maternal health pages are available here and there are plenty of mentions of "women" and "mothers" on here as you'd expect. https://www.gov.scot/policies/maternal-and-child-health/ What they have done is extended their parental leave policy to include partners more widely, which is probably where the deliberate confusion has been stoked up by the country's associated bigots, homophobes and losers.

  3. Can I say that I was really impressed with Charlie Adam on Saturday night. He took a corner from right below me and placed the ball right inside the corner quadrant. No f*ck*ng about trying to get the ball sitting right above the last millimetre of white paint on the outside of it, bang inside the quadrant. Total credit to Charlie for that.

  5. Getting very unseemly in here. We've no idea, from the outside, how this has been handled. However, if it is the case that Rico Quitongo, to whom the club have a duty of care first and foremost as their employee, feels let down, then there is at least a fair chance that he has indeed been let down. That he feels this way (assuming he does, I have no confirmation of this that I can rely upon and deeply hope this is not true) is in and of itself a failure, as the club should have made damn sure it was not possible for him to feel let down by their efforts, even if they could not in the end identify the racist moron in question. None of us know this, not right now. If Rico does not feel he has had proper support from the club, in my view that is a failure and something that could and should have been avoided. The guy himself said at the get go he knows you cannot always catch the idiots so it isn't like he had unrealistic expectations of how easy it would be to pick out and confirm one guy. It should not be impossible, then, to leave the player frustrated as we all are that the culprit could not be found whilst still feeling he had the full support and exhaustive efforts of the club at his back. I sincerely hope that he has had that support and if I'm honest I do find it hard to believe that the genuinely good people in the club would have failed to make Rico feel fully supported, but I cannot rule it out as a literal impossibility. Ultimately, again, we have no way of knowing as things stand if Rico's agent is being unprofessional and unfair, or if they are lashing out because they have a genuine and justified grievance with the investigation and the club handling. To reiterate, though, the club have a duty of care; looking after the employee should be the number 1 priority of the employer in such instances. It's deeply depressing that a young man has to deal with this when going about their work, or in society in general, and we as a support base, like all support bases, need diligent self-policing to try and stamp out anything like this happening in the stands, home or away. Anyone who wants to support Airdrie (in a sensible, non bigoted way) should feel they will be welcomed with open arms and have no concerns about how welcome they may or may not be by fellow supporters. Listen to the latest OTL podcast interview with an Asian former supporter to hear what I mean. That is deeply, deeply shameful and made my skin crawl. Anyone who wants to come and play for Airdrie should expect that same welcome, and should be able to expect that if they are getting a bit of grief from their supporters, it is purely on the basis of their performance, without any chance of their ethnicity or orientation or anything else coming into it. ..I was on such a high after Saturday as well. Hate that this thread is full of this issue and not the usual glorying in an utter pumping of Falkirk, but it has to be done I suppose.

  7. Both teams have had an incredible first quarter of the season so well done all round, I would go as far to say Raith are the best side we have faced this season and will 100% be up there challenging for the title with us in amongst the playoffs IMO. Yesterday potentially was our worst performance this season but with Low & Gold missing and Nouble half fit then it was always going to be a tough task, 2 of the most exciting and best teams to watch didn’t live up to the hype for me and like others have said the atmosphere was unusually and strangely flat for such a big game, Raith deserved there win in the end so no complaints, We move onto Q2 now and 3 big games in a week with 2 at fortress Gayfield, Can see us dispatching Ayr & Dunfermline no bother but the trip in between away to Inverness could be tricky, All the best to Raith and there fan’s for the rest of the season and sorry again for some utter disgusting and appalling comments made from not real fan’s of ours. Lewis Vaughan is a fantastic young exciting player who hasn’t had any luck and like most decent folk were gutted to hear of his latest setback but hopefully he will be back again banging in the goals for you guys just not against us though lol

  8. This might be a long post - i was at the game on saturday 1st game since 28 /12/19 v QOS irronically. Due to COVID etc its my first time back. Just to say I never missed a home game from 1971 to 1990 until I moved to Edinburgh and now Dunbar. So lads I am an Ayr fan thru and thru and I get it we need someone to replace Mark Kerr as a playmaker in the midfield - pure and simple the players we have are limited but they do try hard and give their best so I will not criticise them. I will always support Ayr and have seen the bad times in the mid 80's etc. In fact I was at the player of the year night at ST Nicholas Hotel in 1987 after we lost 3-2 to Stiriling Albion but Ally McLeod told us that night we will win the league next year and he was right. No matter how bad it might seem to some its not that bad, we are in the right league just now and we will stay up. This club of ours is in a better position and we may need a couple more years of Championship football but I think we will get back up to the Premiership. All I can ask is please support the team this season because I will and hopefully I will get to a few more games now. p.s. i was at 1973 scottish cupsemifinal v Rangers as an 8 year old and still remember the game.

  9. Difficult to understand what exactly has went on as someone that is entirely not "in the know", but from what I can see Rico's statement doesn't actually specifically mention that he heard what was said himself, and given that most fans including those I'd trust on these matters (I wasn't actually at this game) have said they never heard anything I'd say the story that the racist remark was made in relatively quiet conversation and was overheard and reported by another spectator (the parent of another player) seems extremely plausible. Rico released a solid statement after the Alloa game explaining what had happened and the next morning the club announced that they would be investigating the incident. At this point everything seems to working fine. Rico had said that the club were supporting him and we had no reason to believe that the club would fail to conduct a solid investigation. A few weeks on and the club announce that due to lack of evidence and only one witness they have been unable to take further action. On its own this would be disappointing but fine as we all know that dishing out a punishment without proper evidence could leave you in a difficult position from a legal standpoint. The issue with the statement is the comment, "It was also important to ensure that our club and supporters as a whole, were not unfairly accused of using racist language. We believe that this process has been a vindication." That sentence is at best poorly worded and at worst throwing Rico under the bus. The comments from Rico's brother and his agent, as well as Rico's absence from the squad at the weekend make things look even worse. These comments claim that the investigation was basically a farce and that Rico has been poorly treated by the club. These claims should be taken as seriously as the initial allegations of racism. The club wrongly stated that the investigation process was a "vindication". You can't use "lack of evidence" as a vindication on behalf of an entire football club and its fanbase. However, what would be a vindicating process would be if the club could prove that they acted properly and ethically in their investigation process. If they can't prove this and one of our players claims they did not act properly or ethically then it looks very bad indeed, whether that be by mistake or design. I hope to see Rico back in the team soon, but after reading some comments from certain fans on here and on other social medias I'm worried about what kind of reception he could receive.

  10. Footballers refusing to celebrate a goal against their former club is a horrendous trait and all too common. Marcus Fraser did the right thing, as he often does, however not quite in the manner you suggest. The only time a player should not celebrate is if they intend to do that cringeworthy love-heart thing or kiss the badge. Both of which should be a bookable offence.

  15. Agreed, we were arguably spoiled by Matthew Elder, but you could tell he had a deep affinity for the club. On match days, there’d be constant updates and actual insight, while the online engagement with fans afterwards was always good. If there was anything coming out the club during the week, he’d also keep us informed. Now, virtually nothing, and while I mean no disrespect to the person who replaced him, last season, you had as much chance of him sending an angry tweet to the Hearts Twitter account than anything about Rovers. I’m happy to pay for good journalism, and funnily enough I subscribed to the Courier yesterday, as the stuff they’re putting out about Fife, Tayside and Angus football is excellent. He’s been mentioned a few times, but Alan Temple’s enthusiasm for football shines through, and his stuff is constantly very good. As an aside, I do feel a bit sad when people put screen shots rather than links as they’re trying to earn a living through clicks etc, but regardless, the fact you’d barely know Raith had a game on via Kirkcaldy’s newspaper is a pretty sad state of affairs.

  20. Our squad isnt exactly hugely inspiring but id wager my own money any jobbing Championship type level manager can make a better team out of it than the insipid, sideways passing nonsense we currently get. We have fucked up with Sheerin. I didnt look that way at first but we have. He is lost at sea now. He has no credible reason to turn in any particular direction. Empty is the only option there. Not hugely convinced theres any great need to be shipping out 10 bodies in January. If we did, id once again wager a significant portion of that 10 would pick up gigs in the league above nae bother. This is happening all the fucking time. Someone/something is infecting one squad after another at Falkirk.

  21. Is it as strong as saying the club and support have been vindicated? Because as per a fellow commentor below your post I'm not feeling particularly vindicated. Maybe that's because I didn't take the alleged actions of one person to be representative of myself so no need for vindication. I've said it previously in this thread but a lack of evidence does not equate to proof of innocence. If there is evidence uncovered by the club which demonstrates that there has been a malicious allegation or even a simple misunderstanding then that should be provided. The statement from the club is generally, other than the vindication paragraph, highlighting this lack of evidence and they should have left it there unless they have other evidence.

  23. There is something terribly wrong in the management when you can shift Dowds on loan to a team a league above, and he scores to match 50% of last years output at Falkirk in less than 7% of the time. It just suggests that the use made of Dowds by the managers at Falkirk last year was sub-optimal…as you all well know seems the case with a lot of the players. It’s truly perplexing to see that absolute shitshow that FFC has become, plumbing new depths almost weekly. It’s almost like it’s deliberate, but I really can’t find any conceivable reason for it to be so…I guess that means, by Occum’s Razor, the BoD and management staff at FFC are simply morons. It’s not something any fans deserve, and is truly saddening to fans of other teams as well. Get well soon, lads…surely it has to.

  30. This Saturday is the 50th Anniversary of the most sensational result in Scottish Football History - Alan Rough played a part in newly promoted Thistle's 4-1 League Cup Final over Jock Stein's Celtic featuring several Lisbon Lions and Dalglish, Lou Macari, David Hay and George Connolly. He won two Championship Winners Medals for Thistle teams which absolutely strolled the Second Tier. Alan Hansen and Mo Johnston also played for Thistle in the second tier when they were youngsters - like Roughie, they were clearly light years above this level...and all three are way better than just about every player named in this thread. Alan Rough won 53 Scottish Caps, played in two World Cups, saved Scotland from a drubbing in the Maracana and nutmegged Kevin Keegan at Hampden. It's a bit bizarre that the suggestion that he might improve our current squad is being queried by someone who has nominated players who were not even household names in their own homes.

  31. Every year, the range of merchandise (and that's what it is) becomes more and more tasteless. This annual shitshow is becoming embarrassing - surely even the yanks would find Poppy trainers, #lestweforget car and truck decorations, and fucking dog collars, ffs absolutely cringeworthy. The growing connection with the rangers and other, even less savoury groups and organisations*, is also a serious concern. My answer is to donate (quietly)** to SSAFA - every one of Are Brave Boys and Girls since 1960 have been volunteers, their families not so much. Explaining to th next generations is the most important thing. Not just about the need to promote peace, but also the potential for twisting a noble cause to meaner, more political ends. Mine have been with me on a couple of occasions when the Two Minutes' Silence has been called, and have behaved impeccably. W're not a military family, but we can respect those who have served their country. *Yes, there are. Stop sniggering at the back. **I'm aware that I've just made this less quiet, but I've got an identity IRL as well.

  32. The last couple of interviews I saw he looked like a man severely under pressure and not handling it very well. It's only recently things have turned badly for him and I was surprised to see him melting so quickly. His inane ramblings and nervous tick where he rubs the back of his neck are not good signs, he does not seem like he is cut out for managing a full time football club with (some) expectations. To me he is basically an untried youth coach, no track record worth talking about - yet another gamble by our BOD and it looks yet again like they got it wrong. M&M, the Brentford Model, Sheerin.......surely just the law of averages dictates you get it right at least once.

  35. Come on loons, let these yo-yo clubbers have their fun. We're a shambles just now and what we have to ask ourselves is would we trade our unbroken history of top flight football, unassailable position as Scotland's most successful European club and consistent if occasionally only just above average seasons for the hilarious rollercoasters of the odd high profile cup win, plummeting to the seaside leagues, Lithuanian money laundering, repeated administrations and the ignominy of being relegated by an email from Dundee? Quite possibly tbh.

  36. 1) that wasn't my point, I was merely mentioning something I'd heard in relation to the topic 2) it's Livingston not Livingstone, we're in Scotland not Zambia 3) Livi certainly had a big hand in his development so, yes...part of Scotland's success recently is down to the work Martindale did with Lyndon. It's also partly down to the work Stephen Dobbie did with him at QoS and the partnership he's forged with Charlie Austin at Queen's Park 4) Go back to bed ya crabbit bastid
