  2. Both teams have had an incredible first quarter of the season so well done all round, I would go as far to say Raith are the best side we have faced this season and will 100% be up there challenging for the title with us in amongst the playoffs IMO. Yesterday potentially was our worst performance this season but with Low & Gold missing and Nouble half fit then it was always going to be a tough task, 2 of the most exciting and best teams to watch didn’t live up to the hype for me and like others have said the atmosphere was unusually and strangely flat for such a big game, Raith deserved there win in the end so no complaints, We move onto Q2 now and 3 big games in a week with 2 at fortress Gayfield, Can see us dispatching Ayr & Dunfermline no bother but the trip in between away to Inverness could be tricky, All the best to Raith and there fan’s for the rest of the season and sorry again for some utter disgusting and appalling comments made from not real fan’s of ours. Lewis Vaughan is a fantastic young exciting player who hasn’t had any luck and like most decent folk were gutted to hear of his latest setback but hopefully he will be back again banging in the goals for you guys just not against us though lol

  3. Happy clapper post incoming. All credit to John McGlynn and Paul Smith for a fantastic first quarter. There were a lot of people (myself included) a bit concerned about their transfer business this summer but most of the players have exceeded my expectations, a common theme under McGlynn. I still don’t think the squad is deep enough to sustain a title challenge but I’m pretty confident now of being right in the mix for a promotion play off place. To lose MacDonald, Hendry, Kennedy, Gullan as well as Musonda and Vaughan with injury and actually improve on any quarter results we managed last season is outstanding. As well as that we reached the League Cup quarter final for the first time in over 20 years. That is despite starting the season with a confidence sapping collapse as well as the crushing blow of another Vaughan injury and a packed fixture schedule at points it really shouldn’t be underestimated how good a job McGlynn has done. You can see with the movement and fluidity of our attacking and different patterns of play that we are a very well coached side offensively as well as defensively (last 10-15 minutes of comfortable leads aside!). The big thing for me after the Locke/Hughes/Smith period is that I actually enjoy and look forward to going to Starks again. Even if we don’t win, it is still usually a decent watch. We obviously have our usual defeat from Inverness to come next week and a couple of injuries could change everything but good to see a more positive atmosphere around the club again after a bit of pre season pessimism. We still play the best football in the league but I think we are a bit more pragmatic with it this season, in a good way. The experience of Berra has made a huge difference in knowing when to play and when to go long (see Varian’s first half chance yesterday) and I think on the whole we have a more experienced, street wise side and than last season. There’s still plenty opportunity for it to turn to shit so you never get carried away as a Rovers fan but I think credit where it’s due for a very good first quarter and a great start to the season.

  5. Sheerin bemoaning the need for us to become more “stuffy” is a real low point for me. It’s League One we’re in.

  6. Well here we are. 24 hours on, the dust has settled on what has been an epic and outstandingly well run tournament by @SlipperyP. It swung both ways over the course of the tournament but the greeting faced Scots pipped us on the final hole to seal a victory. At least us RoW boys can hold our heads high, whereas those Scots will shirk off back to jockland with their tainted trophy knowing that in years to come, the historians will report on the un-sportsmanship of the Scots. I'm sure in 2 years time when the tournament is held in some concrete cesspit in Airdrie the RoW team will come back stronger. It is time for a new captain, so I pass the batton on knowing we went in as huge underdogs but battled well and forced a great battle. Some may say my team selections were wrong and the order of the singles were wrong but we live and die by these decisions. The whole team done me and the world proud, everyone contributed to our final total and more importantly everyone contributed to the locker room karaoke every morning to flush out the hangovers! Special mentions to again @SlipperyP for his organisation and running of the ryder Cup. some of our big hitters @Eednud who dropped only 2 questions the entire tournament, an outstanding achievement and one that did not deserve to be on the losing team. The partnership of @Tynieroseand @German Jag who fired us away with 4 out of 4 in the Foursomes and fourballs. and finally my fellow captain @The Hologram, congratulations sir, great battle, great banter and in the end the better team won.

  7. This has been evident for a while now, and the blatant nepotism of Holt and then Fergus getting their boys snouts in the trough pretty much confirms that FFC is seen as nothing more than a meal ticket for many of those involved. Really not surprising given the incredibly low demands and expectations in place at present. I used to say the buck stops with the major shareholders/board and they are the ones to be held to account. I've come to realise however that the buck really stops with the fans. The club isn't failing through lack of devoted and commited support, it's failing because those in charge take that support appallingly for granted and throw their money down the drain year on year. Withholding money from the club isn't disloyalty, it's saying time for change for the better. These clowns will hang around like a vile stink until they stop being enabled to do so. I haven't bought a season in 3 years (having done so for 15) My stand might not make much difference but at least I'm not watching other people throw my money away

  9. Old Firm fans are truly a special bunch. A routine 2-0 win away from home, but because they get away with one decision, they still come full on with the victim complex Incredible stuff.

  10. The first part aye 100%. The second though holy f**k man. How it will pan out is Hetherington still stinking the place out and playing 90 minutes, McKay shelling goals left, right and centre and more horrific interpretations of football. He’s not the root cause here but he needs punted. Now. Comfortably worse than both McKinnon and dumb and dumber. Probably worse than Eddie May tbh.

  11. It may have seemed ridiculous at the time, but with hindsight, that (in?)famous pitch invasion by Dons fans after their late winner at Livingston in August makes perfect sense. If that game had finished a draw they’d be below Livi now and level on points with Dundee. Their fans must have realised on some level what a huge three points that was in the relegation battle.

  15. Not gloating at the score but please for help. Our diehard fan Hamish Brannen left Montrose at 12:20 yesterday heading to the match. He never made the match and hasn't returned home. Some of you might know Hamish. He is the old lad who sings on his own for the entire match. He is 60 years old and has learning difficulties. If anyone saw Hamish in the vicinity of Cumbernauld yesterday please get in touch.

  17. No he was quite right she was a bigot and rather than chase his arse up and down the country to apologise to the horrible old bag he should have stuck to his guns. This single act of cowardice went a long way to mainstream the othering of migrants, made him look too weak to be PM for the right of the electorate and a craven principle free tube to the left.

  20. Shocked to see you coming out with these sort of false transphobic tropes. Their maternal health pages are available here and there are plenty of mentions of "women" and "mothers" on here as you'd expect. https://www.gov.scot/policies/maternal-and-child-health/ What they have done is extended their parental leave policy to include partners more widely, which is probably where the deliberate confusion has been stoked up by the country's associated bigots, homophobes and losers.

  23. McCowan to me clearly has ability and is improving as each game goes by. Looks to have the potential to be a great bit of business by the club. Hopefully the goal breeds more confidence in front of goal. Enjoy watching him and McMullan in the same starting 11. I most confess my for the wee, nae neck, cannae cross, diving arab b*****d on the other wing tho!

  27. The only real talking point at half-time was “where’s a goal coming from” as neither team had offered any real threat. Queen’s insisted with swinging in balls from either side but as in previous games, two big defenders v one average attacker produced hee-haw in terms of goal drama. Second half started in a similar fashion but even on a dull day you’re hoping for an individual flash and Longridge, who had been fitful thus far, used his pace and guile to gain us a penalty. After a nice 1-2 with the goalie Gil managed a flying header into the net. Moore’s introduction made an impact and suddenly the direct passing game was back on. A beautifully flighted long pass by Robson saw big Foxy, who along with Kilday had elected to stay up after a short free-kick, steer a header toward goal. From where I was it looked to be going wide and then up popped Bob to claim his prize. A good poacher’s goal and hopefully the first of many. By the time Longstaff joined in Dumbarton looked near finished. The youngster had a tough shift at Killie but with Moore and Brown both moving the ball well he was a much better offer and another bit of silky skill from Longridge, taking big Geevs out of it, left the Liverpool lad with space and he finished like Firmino. Brown had the best of what was left but still can’t pass the ball into the net like he can across the pitch. Enhance your calm, Liam. A wee mention for Kilday who’s struggled the last few games but looked very steady yesterday. As a famous ex-Queensparker once said, attack wins you games, defence wins you titles. Good performance all round, great result. Cove and Falkirk fans would love to have an average day like this.

  28. Looking forward to seeing which loophole Aberdeen use to stay up this season. Might be tricky to shaft Falkirk as well, but hopefully they find a way.

  29. I'm amazed there is not complete uproar regarding Holt. Who on earth needs a director of football at this level? His wage could be used on a decent player or two surely? Just doesn't make a lick of sense. How can the board perceive he is doing an adequate job? Aye its funny for me but the whole thing is mind boggling from the outside.

  32. is that it? Over 24 hours of screaming and whinging for..... that?? Did Mugabi even touch Turnbull? Jesus wept. The most routine of Celtic away wins and yet still a section of their fans have invented not one, but two, "outrageous" decisions that didn't go their way. I'm out man How do they do it every week?

  35. So just a thought here, instead of calling McInnes a c**t etc at every opportunity for having the gall to have us finishing around 2nd/3rd constantly how about maybe think about the idea of the team being disrupted by Cormacks influence. McInnes probably stood up to Cormack which he didn't like, it was clear the two never got on. Maybe worth considering that McInnes did indeed see what was going on and had the clubs best interests at heart. Or you could just keep calling the most successful manager we've had in past 30 years a c**t.....yeah that'll do

  38. Awful beyond my worst fears. Peter Grant has decent players and a competitive budget and has failed to win a single league game so far. He should never have been appointed and his continued employment is nothing short of an arrogant failure from the Board to admit they fucked it. Our form has very slightly improved from utterly appalling to just really shite in recent weeks. We could have beaten both Killie and Inverness for example but for a side that should be looking to challenge for promotion, it’s been a truly lamentable opening quarter.

  39. What can I say after the second running of the singles? @SlipperyP a massive thank you for organising the tournament, keeping the correct scores and ensuring civility on the course, if not the clubhouse. @pleslie99 it has been an honour to take you on as captain. Only you and I know how much time & effort it takes to make not only team selections but consider when the players go out. To the RoTW team, I hope you have enjoyed the tournament and the banter. We could have another re-run of the singles, but as Einstein said "insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results". Scotland, My Scotland, what a performance. This was truly a team event where everyone played their part. Special mention to @101 for winding up the RoTW in the closing singles matches. I raise my glass to you all and hope you are enjoying the celebrations. @SlipperyP says the next tournament will be in Scotland. Please start breeding midgies and letting wild haggis roam the course, to deter our opponents. See Ya
