  3. It's particularly egregious in this case that their response is basically "nah, he's not a real police officer, there's nothing for us to change or learn from here." We've all seen variations of that line before, eg when a fan of any football club shouts something racist, among the condemnations someone will say "they're not a real fan of this club", essentially setting that person apart from the rest of the supporters and absolving people of the need to acknowledge there are racist bellends among their fellow fans. The Met using it here is obviously so much worse and is as mendacious as it could possibly be. "We do not view him as a police officer" when this couldn't have happened if he wasn't a police officer. He used the fact of being a police officer to arrest Sarah Everard. She didn't resist and bystanders didn't intervene as he kidnapped her because they saw an arrest. She was literally in police custody from the moment of that arrest through everything he did. Yet the Met are trying to dismiss the fact of him being a police officer as some sort of irrelevance and play the bad apple card. Utterly vile.

  5. I know great loan signings and free agents don't grow on trees, especially at this time. But losing Vaughan, loaning out Keatings, having 2 televised cup ties (one away to Celtic Park), getting a 6 figure sum for a player - and bringing zero players in during that period, really does not look good at all. We are relying on no injuries or suspensions. Which is fucking insane. And that's before addressing the obvious short fall in quality.

  7. Wife normally takes the car to work as I'm predominantly working from home. On route home from her work she has to go via Morrisons so if we're low on some shopping I'll ask her to nip in on the way home from work. Several times in the past I've text her, she'll read it (but ignore it), and she'll come home with the "oh, I never seen the message" - which is female talk for "couldn't be bothered" and then it's me that ends up going out for the shopping. Anyway, she phoned me for a blether when about to leave work yesterday. Me and the bairn were leaving the house early to head to the football last night so asked her if she could grab something quick for tea rather than this Mindful Chef stuff she's addicted to but ultimately takes fucking forever to cook as she gets distracted by her phone. I'm banned from cooking (suits me - I do the dishes i.e. put everything in the dishwasher). "can you go to Morrisons on the way home and grab something quick for tea, me and the bairn are heading early to the football tonight mind" "....I'll come home first then I'll go back out and get something" "what? why? you're going passed Morrisons, what a waste of petrol to drive home for one of us to go back out again immediately" "yeah but I need a pee first" "well use the bog in Morrisons or the bog at your work" "oh no, I'm not pishing in a public toilet" Anyway she gets home, we were leaving in about an hour from her getting home. Telt the bairn slyly we'll dine out at the San Starko. Suited him as he knew he'd get a mars bar out of it. As suspected the wife gets home, sits in the bog for about 20 minutes browsing through her phone then potters about the house. f**k all toilet paper left after she's done whatever she's done in the bog. "right that's us away, see you when we're back" "wait?!?!? what about tea?" If anyone's seen the 50 Cent gif with Captain Picard in the backseat. Essentially mine and the bairns reaction when driving away.

  10. There is usually a degree of split opinion over a player; some people think they have something to offer, while others don't particularly fancy them, that's football. What is concerning with the WIlson situation is literally 99.9% of posters on here said he would be an absolutely gash signing. We had Dumbarton fans who watched him all of last season, too incredulous that we had actually signed him to mock us, instead asking what the f**k we were thinking. I really don't want to attack Wilson personally, because he is a human trying to earn a living at the end of the day - of course he was going to sign a 2 year contract when he was offered it. The buck for this debacle firmly lies at the feet of Holt and Sheerin. What were they thinking? It stinks, and is symptomatic of a club in shambles.

  11. With Scotland recently being Europe’s Covid capital, despite having mandatory facemasks while our nearest and dearest neighbours to the South don’t, what’s the verdict? 1. Mandatory facemasks are a fcuking waste of time and Sturgeon knows it but cannot let them go. 2. Just think how fcuking bad it would have been if we hadn’t kept mandatory facemasks. It has to be one of them. My money is on ‘1’.

  23. Just to say that lifelong Queens (and AFC Wimbledon) fan and occasional P&B poster KingfaetheSooth (Callum to his pals) passed away on Monday after a two-year long battle with cancer. He was the best man at my wedding, and I was glad to share some great times with him - trips to Copenhagen for the UEFA Cup match against F.C. Nordsjaelland and France to follow Scotland in the 1998 World Cup, and I was at Wembley with him in 1988 when Wimbledon beat Liverpool to lift the F.A. Cup. Rest in peace my good friend. x

  28. It sounds a bit needy on your part. If I managed staff I retain a responsibility to them and prospective new employers. You're educating them, for the most part, to advance careers. I don't get why you think otherwise. The "contract" you have should be clearly understood. ie you took the money to observe and report on them.

  29. Yup. After not going to the gym for over eighteen months, I returned a couple of weeks ago. No masks required while exercising, no social distancing, every machine in use. Everyone side by side on machines, sweating, breathing heavily. However, if you need to leave the gym to go for a pish, need a mask on to walk the ten yards from the gym to the lavvy. Need a mask to walk the ten yards from the front door to the changing room. Sit in the cafe nursing a coffee for thirty minutes, don’t need a mask. I have watched folk in the gym. They enter, take their facemask off, shove it in their shorts or lycra leggings pockets - then the sweating, exercise, and puffing oot’ yer’ arse after five minutes (in my case) begins. Seen folk then extracting a clatty, sweaty facemask from their gym gear pocket and slap it over their fizzog. Seen folk doing floor exercises throw the facemask onto the gym floor, then again, slap a clatty facemask straight over their mouth. It’s an absolute fcuking farce, simply beyond a joke.

  33. To talk about a different striker, I thought not much stuck for Kane at Pittodrie or Dens but on Sunday, his defending from the front had to be admired... Then I saw the stats in the article Eric Nicolson did about Ali Crawford (which I thought was a bit too effusive) and is he a big part of why we've lacked any real killer threat in the three games? I would start Vertainen on Saturday. If he doesn't play well then fine, you have two weeks to work with him on the training ground but at least you have a starting point.

  35. I thought we were the better team last night and should’ve won comfortably. Sure we weren’t great in the second half until the Pars scored but I don’t think Jamie MacDonald made a save across the 90 minutes. But we didn’t win. You could make a case for us deserving 12/12 from our home games and we have 5. That’s not bad luck. I thought Dylan Tait had his best game since the move to Hibs was confirmed and he put in a power of work. Tumilty covers a hell of a lot of ground and was an outlet time after time but his end product was the poorest I’ve seen from him. Could’ve been sent off as well, weird first booking notwithstanding. The Williams save is very good from a keeper that usually chucks one in against us. Disappointing. Shame Matej headed it virtually down the middle. A few signs of fatigue showing in the second half I felt. Zanatta, Tait, Varian and Dick looked completely done. Not surprising given our schedule and unfortunately they need to go again on Saturday. It isn’t news that we need a player somewhere in the final third, at this stage I’d take a winger and free up Connolly/Fotheringham to get into the number 10 area vacated by Vaughan. All in all, played well enough and should’ve won. But didn’t. As long as we have pretty much zero threat from anyone outside Zanatta in the first half before he tires, that’ll happen.

  37. Barnsley 1 Nottingham Forest 3 at Oakwell tonight (Wed 29th). Slow burn 1st half with only a soft pen for Barnsley separating the sides. Forest really came out of the traps in the 2nd half though, missing two really good chances before drawing level through Danish Winger Phillip Zinkernagel on loan from Watford. Further goals from Bren Johnson and Lewis Grabban securing the points. Convincing win in the end, difficult to understand why Forest have been languishing in the bottom three before tonight. Barnsley look like they’ll struggle this term on this showing however! Stand outs for Forest, Full back Djed Spence and Midfielder Ryan Yates. Approx Crowd 13.5K with just over 2000 away fans travelling up the M1 from Nottingham.

  38. First week of holidays in the NW Highlands, so clearly the weather was going to turn to shit [emoji23] However got a couple of good hills in: On Sunday I took in the Graham behind our accommodation, Creag Dhubh Mhor. Obviously an absolute bogtrot for most of the approach and return, but back to the house in just over 3 hours so not too much suffering [emoji23]. Yesterday was the magnificent Beinn Bhan. Took the easier route over Coire Na Cuileag from just beyond the summit of Bealach na Ba. Terrific rock architecture and Bealach nan Arr was pretty cool. Rainstorm at the summit meant no views of the spectacular eastern Corrie's though. Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

  39. On one hand, it’s quite good to see the current bickering on this thread relates to validity of Norwegian data (or otherwise). It shows we have at least moved on from the darker periods in spring 20 and winter 21 where the agenda was serious illnesses that swept through the country and stretched the NHS, high number of deaths, not knowing and the push for a vaccine to lead us out this mess. In my mind, there’s no doubt it has been a political “show” since this springtime and I have no hesitation in saying the masks and vaccine passports are doing no clinical good and we need to move on to living with this virus. I’m beyond getting angry; that was how I was feeling in early summer, with all the Scottish Government showboating of delays to reopening and blatant denial that vaccines were able to allow us to open up all the things we enjoy in normal life. Way I feel now is I am weary seeing masked-up folk walking literally 2 yards to the bar, then walk back 2 yards and sit down with mask off. I am exhausted by the still seemingly reluctance of Government to accept this passport is an absolutely baffling and ill-prepared “tool” that penalises narrow and specific sectors of society, yet no restrictive regulations needed to enter any other retail, business or leisure property. At this point, we need a strong positive message from Government and dare I say it clinicians (not jumped up dentists or social scientists) to get people feeling mentally less fragile and admit we surely to goodness are at herd immunity levels and as high an uptake of vaccines as we can expect.
