  1. If anything my respect for him has grown over this incident. He's lived the dream of thousands by getting paid to kick a highly explosive device into a group of tories. A real thing of beauty.

  2. Crucially, VAR is fucking shite and should be kept away from our game for as long as possible, forever ideally.

  4. Every single match in this league should be more than winnable ffs. Home and away, every week, irrespective of opposition. If we're now at the stage of identifying a favourable run of games, or picking out so-called easier fixtures, just shut the doors for good. The previous four matches were all perfectly winnable, and we should have been looking for an absolute minimum 10 points out of 12. Only 9 short then. Oh for someone in the hot seat who actually recognises this standard for what it is, rather than the craven "tough league", "Dumbarton/Clyde/Peterhead at home will be a really, really, really hard game" nonsense we are subjected to on a weekly basis by the current and previous incumbents. The lack of any expectation or aspiration is truly astonishing.

  5. On one hand, it’s quite good to see the current bickering on this thread relates to validity of Norwegian data (or otherwise). It shows we have at least moved on from the darker periods in spring 20 and winter 21 where the agenda was serious illnesses that swept through the country and stretched the NHS, high number of deaths, not knowing and the push for a vaccine to lead us out this mess. In my mind, there’s no doubt it has been a political “show” since this springtime and I have no hesitation in saying the masks and vaccine passports are doing no clinical good and we need to move on to living with this virus. I’m beyond getting angry; that was how I was feeling in early summer, with all the Scottish Government showboating of delays to reopening and blatant denial that vaccines were able to allow us to open up all the things we enjoy in normal life. Way I feel now is I am weary seeing masked-up folk walking literally 2 yards to the bar, then walk back 2 yards and sit down with mask off. I am exhausted by the still seemingly reluctance of Government to accept this passport is an absolutely baffling and ill-prepared “tool” that penalises narrow and specific sectors of society, yet no restrictive regulations needed to enter any other retail, business or leisure property. At this point, we need a strong positive message from Government and dare I say it clinicians (not jumped up dentists or social scientists) to get people feeling mentally less fragile and admit we surely to goodness are at herd immunity levels and as high an uptake of vaccines as we can expect.

  6. Stamer has so far lost 115,000 members. Make that 115,001. I will never support a Party led by a lying fucking Tory, no matter what title he wants to give himself. Taking an average of full/concession subs, the Party has lost about £600k/month. Big business will happily step in to fill that gap - there's been no shortage of "partnership" branding throughout Conference - but these fuckers will want their pound of flesh. I have no doubt they will get it. Oh, before anyone jumps in - yes, individual members also expect a return on their money, but a Socialist Party would be working for its members, not for the c***s who have got the world into the state where Capitalism is kiling not only people but also the actual fucking planet.

  7. The unsustainable part of Dens is the Main stand, not the Derry. Nah, it's not all up to the fans, I would like a small 2 tier set up, that feels like it is right on top of the pitch, that way in games with less attendances, you can close a tier of a couple of ends. Edit... Like the Kalmar FF stadium, 12k.

  10. Imagine categorising matches in this league as "winnable" (and therefore, by extension, non-winnable). We have the resources to ensure that getting out of this league should be an absolute trivial exercise. That it's taken us two times (and counting) to do it is absolutely shambolic.

  11. I have literally not seen anybody suggest that O’Donnell is some sort of wondrous talent, or even streets ahead of his rivals for the rb slot. To many he’s still the best out of what is still a bad lot really so that’s no reason really to be overreacting about it because somebody’s opinion differs slightly to yours.

  13. Of the two teams that could afford VAR, one would probably ban it from the stadium as they could not guarantee its safety should a decision go against them. The other would not want it because if diddy teams start getting decisions that were fair, it would go against their narrative of highlighting the one decision in twenty that goes against them, thus "proving" how they have been persecuted as a club in Scotland since 1888 and that they only have 51 League Championships, 40 Scottish Cups and 19 League Cups as evidence of this.

  16. I’m with this. We we’re awful enough to get ourselves into this cess pit of footballing skitters but our resources should have made getting back out a fairly straightforward task. As we know the incompetence on display since coming down (and before) has been off the scale and until the Boardroom is steam cleaned there is no sense that anything is going to change for the better.

  17. Wednesday league 10/10. Having my little farm in Egypt certainly helped with the God. Cup: 8/10, a slow start on the first two holes but then fear of getting killed to death by the team captain seemed to focus the mind

  18. Just to say that lifelong Queens (and AFC Wimbledon) fan and occasional P&B poster KingfaetheSooth (Callum to his pals) passed away on Monday after a two-year long battle with cancer. He was the best man at my wedding, and I was glad to share some great times with him - trips to Copenhagen for the UEFA Cup match against F.C. Nordsjaelland and France to follow Scotland in the 1998 World Cup, and I was at Wembley with him in 1988 when Wimbledon beat Liverpool to lift the F.A. Cup. Rest in peace my good friend. x

  24. Yes, it’s a bit unsavoury really IMO. Im not happy with how things are going - far from it - but there’s really no need for naming folk, speculating about their salary and whether they should be employed or not. I’m not necessarily talking about ‘high profile’ individuals like the manager/sporting director per se but not sure I like the chatter on others really.

  27. Far more worrying than signing yet *another* defender is that the club are allowing Grant to make additions to the squad. Unlikely they’d do that if they were, say, going to sack him in a few days/weeks.

  29. O'Donnell is obviously a player with limitations, and his delivery is consistently poor (albeit he actually has a couple of assists to his name for Scotland and has played a key part of a few goals) and we do need something better in the long run so as to not seem quite so imbalanced, but performances like the one he put in at Wembley, and actually both matches versus Austria, show he is far more capable than you are giving him credit for here. Whilst he wasn't able to capitalise on the several excellent positions he got himself into in the away game, he was defensively solid in that match (and made good runs forward even if his final pass, cross and shot wasn't quite up to it) and kept Alaba fairly quiet at Hampden. He also had a good game in Serbia. I think everyone is hoping Patterson can make the jersey his, that guys like Ramsey continue to develop, force their way into the squad and that they become the future of the position, but at the moment, given Ramsey's inexperience and Patterson's very irregular game time, as well as the guys own performances in several big games for Scotland, O'Donnell merits his place as first choice, in my opinion.

  37. The P&B Ryder to the Stars and Back Team Quiz 2021 We are off. Some comments from the captains; RotW - Below are ROTW foursome pairings. As captain I have set myself out 1st in order to rally the troops and be at the 18th Green to see them all home. WRK as our very own form player will also lead us off. I have full confidence in my troops and pairings. Just remember, taking part is not good enough, winning is all that matters. I'm looking for the big hitters to get us off to a flyer. The home crowd is here to roar us to victory. I want to see Snottery tears from those visiting players as they stare down defeat even after the 1st session! Let's do this!!!! Scotland - NO COMMENT! Foursomes - The better score for each pair will be counted. Best pair will receive 1 point. 38. Not totally Motherwell related- or maybe our notable exclusion does actually make it relevant- but noticed these quotes from David Martindale the other day. “I think you will be looking at Rangers, Celtic, and Hearts and Hibs will be a toss of a coin. That's your top four in my opinion. Fifth and sixth – I think Aberdeen will be there and it will be a fight between St Johnstone, Dundee United and maybe even ourselves. But I think it will be a flip of a coin." I know a lot of people in the wider Scottish football environ seem to quite like him but I think he's a p***k tbqh. Maybe he'll be proven right but I think it's more likely we finish top 5 and they go down than the other way around. Hopefully we'd stop signing their fucking jobbers in that scenario.

  40. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/sep/28/covid-37-of-people-have-symptoms-six-months-after-infection 37 per cent sounds like a large figure until you look at all the complete fucking nonsense symptoms being cited in this study without any scrutiny. 15% of long Covid respondents cited 'anxiety and depression' as a long-term symptom caused by a bog-standard respiratory virus. Perhaps if they stopped malingering about their big, bad Covid experience all day long, they might find their mental health miraculously clearing up as well!
