  6. You’re not actually being serious are you? It’s extremely possible that as a collective it was a bad day at the office, which easily happens to the best teams in the world. Talk of Sheerin possibly losing the dressing room because of one poor performance is absolutely mental and sums up some of the clowns that we have in our support

  10. It’s an absolute fact that an element of our support are well and truly capable of being racist, bigoted and a few other things. I’m not going to pretend to be shocked by the news this happened but it is absolutely sickening and shameful never the less. For people to accuse Rico of hearing wrong or making it up is bewildering to say the least (it’s more than just the ones on here if you check other social media). Thankfully the majority of our fans will do the decent thing and call this out for the disgrace it is. As they have done with other injustices too. I hope Rico is doing ok and I hope he will continue to want to play for the club as I have no idea what must be going through the poor lads head rite now. On the debate of “abusing” players as long as any criticism is based on a players performance I personally don’t have an issue with it. The argument that “I don’t get abuse at my job ” doesn’t work for me as I don’t have 800 fans paying to watch me work which contributes to my wages. That’s just how I see that part. As soon as anything said to a player is based on a personal trait or characteristic then it’s went beyond acceptable behaviour. Many will disagree but that’s just how I see it. One thing I will add is any fan of any other club wanting to come on here to score cheap digs against the club and wider fan base can f**k rite off. All your doing is showing yourself to be a dick who isn’t showing any care for the real issue at hand here. We all have supporters at our clubs we are ashamed of. Keep this to looking after Rico not scoring cheap digs.

  14. Just read the article about Big Kev on the bbc sport app. I really hope our club does the right thing by Kev, at the very least offer him training facilities to see how he gets on and to also offer him a way of staying in the game if it doesn’t work out for him. It should never be forgotten what he did for our club in its darkest moments and it’s our turn to repay him. Hopefully someone at the club has told Nelms and Keyes about Kev’s history with us. Also it’s the way I’d like/want our club to be, looking after our own. Come on Mr Nelms do the right thing.

  16. Another absolute disaster for Deepti Gurdasani, fake Sage and their doomsday tales. 200k cases a day by the end of May and now 1 in 7 kids get long covid in the bin. And yet they'll still be given an airing on Channel 4. I imagine their last straw to clutch will be that under 12s won't get vaccinated.
    6 points
  17. It also implies this is going to be a tech system to gain entry as opposed to a quick flash of your vaccine status to a steward at a turnstile or cordon. If the later were the case, the issuer of the vaccine status would be a complete irrelevance. An English or NI issued certificate would be as easy to check as a Scottish one. I suppose the release in QR format was a nod to that but you just need to read the thread on the Prem forum to see many anticipate it being a guy glancing at a screen which now seems unlikely. Longer term though, this is daft. Hampden, Ibrox and Celtic Park will all host visiting fans from across Europe. If their country doesn't have a QR Vaccine Certificate system in place, or, just as likely, bins it in the near future, are visiting fans just banned from the games? Implementing a tech based vaccine passport scheme in October 2021, when we have vaccinated almost 90% of those eligible, and have witnessed cases drop despite having had venues fully open without any passport system for 2 months, is absolute nonsense. Reeks of "look - we did a thing to keep you safe!" Leitch also has a brass neck citing TRNSMT as an example - the system they used (which he seems to be beaming about how effective it was) was people showing they had a negative test; something that this Passport scheme doesn't deem acceptable. I look forward to hearing the answers when our journalists raise these points, rather than the usual "so at what point can we lock down again?" Oh, wait... I'd say they treat us with contempt and like idiots, but plenty seem to lap it up so maybe it's what we deserve.

  22. Aye. An absolute disgrace right enough that people are choosing not to do something that, legally, they don't have to. Plenty of people at work in offices etc all over the UK will not wear masks day to day at work either, simply because they don't want to and don't have to. Someone not doing something they don't have to, particularly when that is considered the norm, should not be an issue. If they were not mandatory up here he wouldn't give a hoot either. Politicising the wearing of face masks to get cheap brownie points from supporters is boring. "Tory mush" is embarassingly twee patter as well. For as much as the views of the Conservatives do not, in the main, represent the views of Scottish people, this type of petty pish surely doesn't represent us either.

  23. I can never understand why some fans get all arsey when other similar sized lower league clubs get a bit of financial backing and propel themselves up the leagues. Obviously views will be skewed a bit here because it’s Queens Park but we would all be loving it if it happened to Clyde. If it works then good luck to QP. We would absolutely all take the same situation if it was offered to us. Football is all about money nowadays, you’re not going to progress without it. Plenty of us having been moaning on here for years about our lack of financial backing every season…

  27. I enjoyed my trip to Scotland a few summers back, the people there and have met some cool Scottish people traveling other places in Europe. My heritage is also from the Highlands (my last name is regularly found in Scotland, at least that's the impression I'm under), so those are the reasons to follow. As a fan of a small-market baseball team, I thought following Celtic or Rangers would be akin to a Scottish person becoming a Yankees or Red Sox fan if they started following Major League Baseball. To me, it would be kind of a lame move to start following a foreign league and pick the richest team.

  35. Taking my cynical hat off for a second and overlooking the massive coincidence that the 5 pushing this "review" happen to be the clubs who have had substantial investment from outside partners or "benefactors" or in the case of the Dundee clubs have been propped up by US owners setting fire to cash in their respective money pits with no immediate sign of a return on their investment. The problem with the SPFL is the SPFL itself. The wants/needs of the majority of the top league sides are entirely different to teams in League 2. So there's a disconnect there. If the concern is about the marketing of the league then a good first step would be to actually invest properly in marketing. At the moment though, the SPFL is set up to distribute the cash back to the clubs - if the clubs want to change that it's their money and their choice to enact that. Aside from the hilarity of Hearts being relegated with 8 games to go while kicking and screaming their way through the courts (and being relegated anyway despite what the ITK legal eagles on JKB were predicting) that whole episode last year showed how difficult it is a) to establish common ground and b) enact change in the current set up. Similarly it highlighted what Doncaster's role actually is, rather than what people want to think it should be. He's an administrator lads. If clubs want a commissioner or the like then go out hire one and be prepared to pay them properly. Again, that's up to the clubs to make that choice. Establishing a brand takes time and it also takes joined up thinking. Ultimately, short term at least, the point @PauloPerth makes is correct...you can change the names of the leagues, give everything a lick of paint but at the moment the players/teams ie: the "product" will be exactly the same. Longer term? Absolutely, increased investment should be something that is welcomed but it's not something that going to happen just because Diamond Dave Cormack and Ron The Con will it to be so. What's the strategy? It's surely not just "demand more money for "the product""? If the concern is about a lack of investment then establish a role that focuses on that and make sure their KPIs and renumeration reflect what you're asking them to do. There are huge flaws with the SPFL and who knows, maybe this independent report will actually address them in some meaningful way. If it does then great.

  37. What a tremendous story for Jack Hendry. He is still struggling to shake of some of his critics from the past but make no mistake he was brilliant in a brilliant team performance last night. Club Brugge are way ahead of anything we have here in Scotland they are a proper team. It was satisfying to watch a Scotland centre half take charge of a back line pushed up to almost the half way line rather than one camped inside their own box. Brugge took it to PSG last night, pressed them high up the park, Hendry even almost scored the winner as well! Really good game to watch and fantastic night for the Scotsmen in the Champions League

  38. The administrators (and Kennie Young in particular) have shown incredible flexibility, to such a stage where we are already a third of the season through the league season and it's only mid September. I do appreciate, though, that you and your other 30+ user names have a particular agenda against the WoSFL, so your opinion is best dealt with the way everyone on here generally does, i.e. ridiculed.

  40. We all know this is your wet dream but we already have his money secured for a long time so nae luck. Do you really think we'd enter into such a sponsorship deal without a contract in place? You're missing my point about club ownership (obviously he has input to our decision making) Mileson had nothing in place to sustain football at Gretna beyond his funding. We're in the process of putting new systems and structures in place, hence why we have invested less in the playing squad this season (that's why McKinnon left) Haughey's money has given us time to do that. Once he got involved, Gretna were completely reliant on Mileson's funding for the club to exist at any level. Now whether we can sustain full time football in 10 years time is another matter but I'm pretty sure we'll be operating at some level.

  42. Hopefully the plans for a national non-league cup competition from tier 5 downwards will come to fruition, and the WoSFL have been at the forefront of those discussions by submitting a proposal to the 4 Leagues Meeting (Lowland/WoSFL/EoSFL/SoSFL) which has gained their approval and has now been submitted to the Scottish FA and is on the agenda for discussion at the next Pyramid Working Group meeting. It has also been noted that the SJFA went public a week or two ago stating their intention to form a similar competition. Hopefully all parties will work together to make this happen.

  44. Not always. It was obvious after about two games that May was hopelessly out of his depth. It was obvious after three games that Houston had lost the dressing room. It was obvious after three games that Hartley had monumentally fucked up that summer. Sometimes leaving it too late means it is too late to change things. Two rounds of fixtures is enough to lose you a league.

  45. Robbo was terrific when he went into the middle of the park . A terrific player for Alloa . I enjoyed the game albeit obviously not the result. Two pretty well matched teams . Great second goal from Airdrie but we pretty much dominated after this and in truth a draw would have been a fair outcome. Some great coaches and players in the Alloa support as usual........some of the stick dished out to our management team was cringeworthy once again . Give the guy a chance FFS . I actually thought we looked pretty well balanced and played some decent football.
