  1. Had my 4 monthly check up today. Cancer still sleeping. My bloods are looking as good as ever. My next check up will be in December! It will be my 3 year diagnosis anniversary in 8 weeks. Can't believe the difference in me from then till now.

  2. I enjoy my overseas trips as much as anyone, but I have no intention, none whatsoever, in booking anything abroad until at least the middle of 2022. From the e-mailed correspondence I have received from those businesses I am subscribed to receiving such things from - a few airlines, hotel chains, etc, the message remains the same. The message comes at me assuming the reason I won’t want to travel is because I’m shit scared of catching Covid 19 if I do. Everything is ‘we know you may be unsure about flying in these times, but rest assured, we’ve sanitised the fcuk out of our aircraft, and our cabin crew will be in full PPE looking like they’ve captured E.T. and are experimenting on him before he phones home’. Hotels are the same - ‘we know you maybe… blah, blah, are scared shitless, blah, blah, but we’ve introduced a thorough deep clean of everything, we’ve ditched the breakfast buffet, we won’t come into your room to make it up unless asked, our staff are dipped in ultra-strong Mr Muscle lavvy cleaner before each shift, blah, blah… No, no, thrice no, that is NOT the reason I don’t want to risk going abroad. I’d go tomorrow, the reason I don’t want to go is government rules, tests, the fact it is unlikely to feel normal. The fact you need to book a breakfast slot or a time to go to the hotel pool. Facemasks, hoops to jump through, the fact that the government could invent an amber or red rating for wherever I was. The fact a test could throw up a false positive.. Everyone, and I do mean everyone I know in my circle of family and friends is the same. They aren’t scared of catching covid. They just cannot be arsed spending a lot of money until a far more normal overall travel experience is pretty much assured, without the fcukers in Westminster or Holyrood sticking their neb’ in. I don’t know why the default position of these businesses is that we’re staying put in huge numbers because we’re scared to death.

  3. At least we're now spending this 4 million on one player. Stephen Robinson would have used it to sign the adult population of Scotland in the hope 1 or 2 of us turned out to be decent.

  4. Got to laugh at the idea Holt deserves any credit for any success that could happen this year. Lewis from falkirk tv could have signed our first 11 and first subs this year (offer long contracts for more money). Squad is comparable if not worse than previous seasons (as shown by ex players eg aidan connolly slotting straight into a decent Raith team). Any success falls solely on the shoulders of Mr Sheerin and Grainger. Let’s hope they continue the so far very decent work

  6. “Today, without any previous indications, we received a letter of resignation from Brian Rice. “Whilst it has come as a surprise, we now fully understand his reasoning for leaving at this time, and have, with regret, accepted his resignation. “It has been an extremely difficult 18 months dealing with all the issues surrounding the pandemic, including the recent relegation from the Premiership, and there’s no doubt that it has taken its toll on Brian, his staff and everyone connected to the club.” Sounds like sadly Ricey may still have his personal challenges . I wish him all the best , to me a Falkirk Great and part of a team that represented the best of times being a Falkirk fan.

  7. Can someone remind me which absolute diddy on Sportsound claimed these colt teams would be followed to away games in their thousands. Collins? Levein? Dodds? Ferguson? Nice summer evening. Sevco not playing. Less than 15 miles from Glasgow. Cheap entry. And that's it? Get these B sides out of this cup and the lowland league and squarely to f**k

  8. You just have to take this all in and enjoy it. Back page headlines in Turkey, about to take on their biggest club all square and all to play for in a sold out McDiarmid Park. Wouldn’t even have dreamed of this as a youngster supporting Saints it would have seemed so far fetched. Magnificent.

  13. Hi guys, so the forum has been upgraded to the latest version of the software. As a result of the upgrade we had to re-design and install all 44 of our Team Themes. All members have been reset to the new P&B default theme but you can scroll to the bottom of the board and click "Theme" to choose your preferred Team Theme. The Team Theme list now includes Cove Rangers and Kelty Hearts whilst Berwick Rangers and Brechin City themes remain. There are a number of automated tasks being performed in the background now as part of the upgrade so things *might* be a wee bit slower than usual overnight but they will complete hopefully in time for the usual traffic on Thursday morning. Let me know if there are any niggles or issues following the upgrade and I'll get on to them as quickly as possible. Cheers

  14. f**k me! I’m no Holt fan but this is just outrageous. He’s done exactly what he should do by giving the manager the final say on players for his squad. So if he forced the players into the squad against Sheerin’s wishes, would that have been better?

  21. Nah m9, as @well fan for life says above, we need to start playing hard with these folk. We've had the vast majority of our top talent virtually stolen off us since the beginning of time, so now the roles need to reverse on account of our current standing. Go in with a lowball offer, and as long as they persist in haggling, we just keep lowering our offer until we eventually get him for a bag of balls and an auld signed photie of Craig Samson. Cûnts need to start realising just how big a fucking deal we are. Edit to add : I am happy to haggle on the clubs behalf to get this deal over the line. I have plenty of previous experience, having successfully haggled down many a Turk on the price of a knock off t shirt in Marmaris over the years. Burrows et al obviously read this thread so I am easy to reach, and look forward to helping them to a successful outcome.

  22. This is what worries me, our fanbase has been conditioned to accepting mediocrity and it appears that we are now happy to be merely competing for the League 1 title. When Hearts went down to the Championship do you think that they or their fans were content to just compete for the title? I can't accept anything other than the Falkirk squad being clear favourites to win the title.

  23. The improvement we have seen so far this year has been in style of play, confidence on the ball, proper set pieces routines and fluidity in positions within the formation. That's all the head coach, nothing to do with the DoF or whatever Holt's title is.

  25. It wasn't ignored at all. The club president contacted us asking if we could withdraw the request for an official EGM and hold a general meeting instead so that Leanne Dempster could attend. She isn't a member and apparently only members can attend an EGM (we assumed that he wasn't lying) We were assured that all the items that we asked to be covered would still be on the agenda (and they are) His proposal was put to the signatories and the majority agreed. A minority didn't and I fully respect their reasons for doing so. I believe the president also contacted one or two of them to discuss their concerns. The initial aim was to get the committee and club officials into a room (or zoom chat) so we could attempt to get answers from them as we all know that comms has been abysmal. If we don't get the satisfactory answers next week then don't worry, we will be taking the appropriate action and sticking to it. By willing to compromise we've acted in good faith and shown that we don't want to to go to war with them. It's now up to the committee to respect the favour we've granted. Incidentally, I didn't realise this at the time, but an EGM apparently only allows the issues we listed in the letter to be discussed. This more general meeting gives far more scope for lots of items to be discussed. So hopefully every member with concerns will be there to give them a grilling .

  26. As long as the colt teams are involved then I'd much prefer we didn't enter. As you pointed out previously, we should have played Dumbarton United youngsters for their development since that's the argument being used.

  30. In Las Vegas there are actually more Catholic churches than casinos and unsurprisingly, collection plates contain more casino chips than coins. This presents a problem for the churches as the casinos don't accept each other's chips. So, all the chips are collected, sorted and counted at the Las Vegas Franciscan Monastery before being cashed at the correct casino. This job is done by the chip monks.

  33. Came to Thailand in 2008 to live in a temple and learn about Buddhism, during this 1 month stay, the temple was helping to built a school for the hill tribe children, that are not legally Thai to get them into the system of education and away from the prostitution and drugs trade. A cycle that has destroyed there lives for decades. I loved it and came back for an extra 3 months, with being back in Scotland for about 1 week. On my second trip, I meet a woman in her 50's at a laundrette in the town of Singburi. She said to me that she would do my washing for me and I can go and get something to eat. I thought, that's sound good to me. On my return, she handed me 1000 baht and explained that it was in one of my pockets. Me being a good c**t, gave her the 1000 baht and told her to treat herself and family. She was a little embarrassed and refused, just at that time her son walked it to pick her up (I didn't know it was her son at the time). He could speak a little English, and I explain it to him, that I would prefer she took the money....anyway, she ordered that I come to her house that evening for a meal, that she will prepare. I got picked up from the temple are around 18:00 and drove off into the wilderness to this little house in the farmlands/paddy fields. The house was full of the family members, I meet my wife for the first time, it was the woman's daughter. I married her 3 years latter and now have 3 kids. I still go back to the school now and again to drop of boxes of sweeties or ice cream, none of the children are the same as when I helped there back in the day, they have all grown up, but it does give me a massive warm glow inside, when I'm there. I also take my kids and wife with me. Good for my kids to see where it all began for me in Thailand. I only ever returned back to Scotland back in 2010, to fix some financial stuff and sell my house, never looked back.

  35. Would agree on age for sure. Age, location and whether you are on an expat deal or independant. I moved away at first at 34 on an expat deal. An absolute breeze. After the first year, I have been independant (finding/creating my own jobs, visa applications and moves, etc). It has resulted in a very mixed, but rewarding experience. The lack of a safety net if independant is important to consider. Unless you pack up and go home, there is no signing on if you lose your job/visa status and foreigners are always the first to go during lean times and it is not as easy to find jobs as it would be back home. When my career has not been able to sustain me, I have taught and written for papers and publications to get by. I must admit the risk in it all is part of the experience, but as you get older it clearly gets more difficult. Long and short, you will, as 99% of the people who ‘dream’ of living abroad, will find an excuse not to. If it is truly your dream/desire, just go for it. If you become a serial ‘expat’ who knows where you will end up.

  36. Agreed. The starting line-up last night was garbage but our first choice 11 are far from being the worst Clyde team I've ever seen imho. On last night and this season in general, I'm loathe to blame Danny Lennon fully when we simply aren't aware of what's going on behind the scenes. As a fan owned club, every step of the recruitment process should be outlined to us by the salaried recruitment team. I get the feeling that Danny is putting on an extremely brave face at the moment and dishing out the 'great fans, great club' patter at every opportunity because it's the only way of appeasing us. HOWEVER, he is still in charge of what's happening on the park. Playing Goodwillie left wing was crazy, Ally Love as a defensive midfielder equally so. I can understand Goodwillie playing deeper as a 10 if we had someone more effective that Robert Jones up front. Last night we showed the cup and Broomhill a huge amount of disrespect by playing a team nowhere near good enough and we got what we deserved. I don't want Danny and Moorey to leave because I do really like them and their teams have given us some tremendous moments as fans but it really has gone stale, so maybe it is time for a change. With that in mind, I do not trust the current club set up to hire a manager at all so as it stands, I'd rather stick with what we've got.

  42. Broomhill scored with literally their only non-set piece effort. We managed to hit the bar twice and clear a goal bound shot off of Broomhill’s goal line from about two yards out. Broomhill were clearly a lot more up for the game than we were. We approached the first half in particular like training game but that’s no excuse That, for me, could be our worst ever result. After BSC Glasgow effectively merged with Stenhousemuir, and the newborn baby Broomhill was born, that was quite literally a bunch of kids out there. Fair play to them. It’s only the second time I’ve seen us in the flesh this season and I can’t see us finishing anywhere other than rock bottom. Jones is one of the most unintentionally hilarious footballers I have ever seen and Splaine is one of the most frustrating (although, at least he tried things). Jones’ miss was quite possibly, the worst one I have ever seen. As for the two imposters that started at full back? I don’t even know where to begin. Balatoni was painfully, and I mean painfully, slow. The new centre half looked no worse than anything else we have but wasn’t tested much. Bradley-Hurst had nothing to do but pick the ball out of the net. Love starting in holding midfield was bizarre and Nicoll was Nicoll. Another complete jobber who felt like assaulting someone on this fine Wednesday evening. Andrews has the worst first touch I have ever seen and McGrath was absolutely anonymous for all but about five minutes of the half. Whilst we know that Goodwillie was rested, the history books certainly won’t show that. In any case, not being able to field an XI that can win that game is a disgrace. Congratulations to Broomhill, it must be nice to have a team who take a cup competition seriously. As for us, after a brief period of not being completely rubbish, it’s back to business as usual. After such a spell of positivity after promotion, it really is demoralising to have such a sense of self-pity and apathy oozing from the club at the minute. Norrie Innes for all his, “river of good” and suing the club nonsense, at least tried to talk a good game and brought a bit of excitement. It’s fairly evident that barring some minor miracle, we’ll be back in League Two next year and no doubt back to perma-moaning about Broadwood and how much money Peterhead make from their café. Seriously depressing stuff. As for DL, am I grateful for all he’s done for the club up to this point? Absolutely. Do I hope he can turn things around? Of course. But, I think we’re approaching a really critical point where fan opinion of him will start to turn without a serious upturn in our fortunes. The garbage, strange signings; players who have signed saying they had to contact the club to sign when we employ people in three salaried positions to recruit players for the squad; the Goodwillie on left wing; the whole, increasingly patronising, “I’m privileged to manage this great club with our great fans” spiel, whilst treating us to marquee signings such as permacrock Jonathan Page, Robert Jones and Owen Andrews (amongst many others, to be fair to the three of them). I am sure these guys weren’t his first choices (I mean, how could they possibly be?) but, for the first time of tenure, there could arguably be a justifiable amount of pressure on the manager. I’m not angry, just bitterly disappointed.

Torrance's son Daniel took the call, and asked who was calling. "This is The Duke of York", said the caller. Daniel shouts to his father : "Dad, that's some pub on the phone wanting to speak to you"
