  1. Applying for a mask exemption certificate when you don't need one is bizarre behaviour. Might as well pen V.L. on your forehead.

  3. Here's a red, white and blue flag... ...and here's another. If some folks really must fly something to "represent" the team colours, try one of these. Get that Govan Bigots symbol out the ground and in the Forth.

  4. I was both shocked and appalled by the sight of that flag on Saturday. Like it or not, it's been hijacked by the far right and clearly is used to demonstrate an allegiance that has nothing to do with Falkirk or indeed any other club in Scotland - bar one. Christ, I remember it in the sixties at Brockville. It may have been acceptable then (God knows why) but in the current climate, it is abhorrent and represents everything that we as a progressive, open-minded country (and I hope, club) should avoid at all costs.

  5. Have to be honest, I didnt have any "freedom day" plans. I booked a couple of days away because it was the only days I was off and we could get a babysitter.... Am now in the pub and its almost exactly 2019. Busy, no masks, bar service, a lad turned up with his guitar and is now knocking out some country classics and folk are singing along. Im borderline living in a "and then the whole queue started clapping" facebook post. Fucking class. I have spoke often of the toll the pandemic has had on me, and its nothing compared to many, but right now I am so unbelievably happy I cant evem say. Its fucking glorious.

  6. You're just standing at your front door clapping at other people who are standing at their door clapping at you. Fair enough if there's someone walking past who has achieved something great and you're applauding them. It was the most empty of gestures. It wound me up far more than it should have.

  11. Agree entirely. It's just a pity that there are tens of thousands in Scotland, if not hundreds of thousands who think otherwise. The number of "55" stickers and posters around the town makes me want to puke. FFS, there is even one with a flag pole in Redding with "55" painted on the base whilst the Union flag is flying high. Their interest is not in football, but bigotry and intolerance. Just to emphasise, the other "green" side are no better ! This is why I took umbrage with the flag on Saturday.... unfortunatley it represents everything that is rotten in Scottish football

  13. This would be superb. Just imagine it. McDiarmid packed with Saints fans, rain lashing down, floodlights on. Winner takes all tie, but the gulf in quality means every minor victory for us, such as halving someone or creating a chance, is greeted like a goal by the home support. Murray Davidson absolutely drenched absolutely bursting someone, whole stadium goes mental, ball out to Booth, cuts it back to Wotherspoon, CHOP, Galatasaray boy on his arse, cross comes in and there Davidson with a thumping header. Iconic photo of him in mid air with the floodlights making it look ethereal. Stadium erupts as he knee slides and points to the sky. Oh. You. Fucker.

  14. Decided to make my way to Links Park to take in the Montrose game on Saturday with a few pals, something different and ticked off another ground, was a great day out. Buoyed by about 8 pints we went into a bar in Montrose before jumping on a train and the track and trace was done via book, my mate signed first and I noticed he had signed in as Gary Locke, I decided to trump him and signed in as Bert & Ernie and left the old “Your Call with Jim Traynor” phone number as my contact number. Needless to say the lassie went apeshit about 10 mins later and chucked us out. Would do again.

  15. Time I think to check on what The Science insisted would happen after Reckless Freedom Day was carried out in England three weeks ago: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jul/18/uk-covid-cases-could-hit-200000-a-day-says-neil-ferguson-scientist-behind-lockdown-strategy-england Actual daily cases: just over 25,000 - half of those when lifting restrictions took place. Looks like that 'crystal ball' was a complete fucking failure all along then. Once again the "central scenario" of SAGE and their shan modellers proving to be as useful a guide as a Michael Fish weather forecast. Where are all the mewling apologies and resignations for having misled the public and political leaders alike? Why aren't the independent SAGE clowns being huckled back to the newsrooms right now to be eviscerated for their exponential growth!!!11!! nonsense, before being tossed out of academia as attention-seeking frauds? This hasn't even been a case of not getting the rate of change spot on: they got the entire fucking track wrong one week out. It's still wrong and their gubbins models can't account for it. That is beyond useless. Autofile their contributions in the bin where they belong.

  17. Maybe the scenes were "disgraceful" from a Covid control point of view but you'd really have to be made of stone to not understand it. Eighteen months of watching some cr@ppy locally produced stream.... hated the result but two hours plus quality time with my son; cant put a price on that.

  18. I hadn't realised the LL had agreed to this. I already thought the clubs that voted for this were a shower of shits, but it's so much worse. If the SoS, WoS or EoS leagues are won by teams that aren't eligible for promotion, because they're not licensed or they're a reserve side like Stirling Uni EOS, that league doesn't get to put anyone forward for the LL promotion place. This has happened several times and almost happened to Bonnyrigg when the SFA shifted the goalposts on floodlights. The LL's rules don't allow the leagues below them to work their way down their tables to find the first eligible club. It would be rank hypocrisy for the LL to expect a team that finishes third to be allowed into the SPFL promotion play-offs. They allowed two clubs to buy their way into their league, skipping the tiers below them, and they have to live with the consequences of that.

  19. It's really annoying and predictable how a section of our fans respond to this type of result. And I'm not talking about the fans that are calling for the manager's head (that is dumb too, but wholly expected as kneejerk reactionaries exists in every fanbase). The ones that annoy me are the 'what can you expect, it's Celtic', 'our results against the Old Firm won't decide our season', 'many teams will get crushed in Glasgow' brigade. What I'd like to expect is at least the minimum amount of professionalism from our squad. I'd like the same from our captain (he looked reckless, and uninterested today), and manager (is he unaware that you are allowed to play different players in different formations for different occasions)? Marshall's red card, amateurish garbage (maybe he couldn't run properly because he had his autograph book and pen stuffed down his sock looking for Joe Hart). Charlie Adam reckless fouls in dangerous areas and frankly he didn't look up for the fight today, perhaps he was carrying a sack full of our money that he wanted to leave for the Old Firm to keep them happy. Not one player today made the effort to cut out a pass today - simply be sticking a big toe out they could've prevented their first two goals, and the marking was so schoolboyish that it seemed like they didn't give a single sh*t about any of it! Our manager sets us up to play the same way no matter whether it's St Mirren at home, Raith home, QotS home or Celtic away. What's he daein? It's fair to say he didn't hit them with a Braveheart speech today as we came out of the traps with all the energy and emotion of a sloth on thorazine. There is a good chance that no team will go to away to Celtic this season and be beaten worse that we were today. And we haven't played a Septic team in such disarray for years. They've obviously got good players, but they're still learning each others names. So no, I don't accept that it's Celtic away so what can you do attitude. It's not losing there that is deflating, it is the manner in which it occurs. I actually like McPake, but jeezy peeps this guy loves to embarrass us at least once or twice a season.

  26. I'm going to go against the grain and say that Elliott was an underappreciated full back. This underappreciation largely stemmed from his history at the club. I believe that if we had signed him as a fullback at about the time he was moved to that position, he would be remembered as a steady, decent fullback who was good defensively, had pace and could get into good positions along the wing (although his final ball was at best, hit or miss). In that respect, I suspect he would be remembered in the same way as Booth: decent without ever being particularly memorable or exciting. However, as he came to the club as a striker, and was pretty rubbish in that position, many always felt that his playing as a fullback was an afterthought and he was only ever just filling in rather than finding his true position. This always coloured many fans' opinion of the player throughout his Firhill tenure. There was probably some truth in him being a fill-in FB at the very beginning, but then it became clear (to me at least) that he was very competent in that position, such that he would keep seeing off others signed to play right-back. His long term injury for a large chunk of our relegation season from the top flight was an important factor in how that season turned out, I always felt.

  27. Meh. I can see why you and others think that. I wasn’t on the pitch but I did run down to the barrier like a bit of a mad man. I think ‘pent up emotion’ that glass described is fairly accurate. You got the feeling in the stands going into the last 10 that if we scored something like that may happen. Folk were absolutely desperate for an old fashioned bounce. And why not eh? Personally, it was a just a brilliant moment after the misery of streaming last season. I was absolutely buzzing for the rest of the night.

  29. It does get a bit OTT in here with the negativity at times. It's never going to be some laugh after a heavy defeat, but f**k me man, some folk have got us relegated on the back of that one result. We won't be the last team Celtic and Kyogo put to the sword this season. Having said that, we didn't exactly make it difficult for them. Just 9 or 10 more signings before the window closes and we'll be sweet.

  30. Ryan Christie didn't even have to try to get that ball off him yesterday before crossing it in. Elliot must be a good bit heavier and taller than him and Ryan Christie brushed him off the ball like he wasn't even there. I'd go mental if my boy gave up a ball that easily in the under-10s. Especially as he's 17 years old but that's by the by.

  32. cFirst match since the hibees 3-1 pre-rona What a fuckin bounce. It all felt a little bit surreal for me most of the game to be honest. Pints before 12, magic colas for the walk to the ground, two pies, seeing pals Ive not seen since St Mirren away in the cup, Dandies being shite, then alright, then dead scrappy, then a flukey winner in the last seconds. A rollercoaster. All felt a little unreal. I ran down to the front but did not enter the field of play. Cant really blame anyone though. I wonder if theres something in the fact that you cant really do that at Pittodrie due to the layout of the stands/proximity to the pitch, that means our supporters sometimes get a bit over-exuberant? Maybe nothing in it. Lewis I thought played okay other than the goal. the livi boy was definitely offside, but Lewis should still have reacted quicker. Cant blame Anderson for giving it back to us a little. Still hope he does well for yous. Mcginn, hayes, JET, Jenks (goal aside) all pretty toothless up top. gurr is pretty solid defensively but Ramsay a cut above when he came on. Two peachy crosses within like a minute. Mackenzie a bit of a fighter, I like his style of play. The shot had me groaning, but dead chuffed for the loon. Jenks goal was a better hit than I gave it credit for, keeper could do a bit better but the speed of the hit made it difficult for him. hopefully we can get some more out of him, hes the sort of player we need. Brooner very good when he came on. Considine and gallagher solid enough. Ramirez is very handsome and Ill sing his songs forevermore. Love to all the top reds and big dandies xxxx

Clubs went through a lot of blood sweat and tears to get the SFA licence and now the big moment is shrouded in secrecy Clubs could be posting on their social media and Web sites that the big Scottish Cup draw is happening, if we only knew when These are the things that bring the punters in and can help clubs gain more sponsorship etc Very poor show from the SFA

  41. Would back team 42 in a heartbeat on that issue, if the LL teams can't beat the kids they voted into the league in exchange for a bribe to the league title, none of them deserve to even sniff League Two. If an OF colt team wins this league, team 42 should just have to play the HL champions.

  42. A week on from my last post and the old man is still in the hospice and still holding on, although I've no idea how. He can't eat anything at all, and is basically getting by with spoonfuls of water with some sort of additive/thickening agent to avoid it going down his windpipe. He's so weak that he can basically mumble "I need a drink" and that's about it. Myself, mum and sis have basically been living at the hospice for the last 5 days expecting him to go at any time, but it wasn't sustainable, you can't function on a three hour sleep on a settee every day, living in each other's pockets just waiting for the inevitable. We're just going to visit in "shifts" so to speak, so that hopefully at least one of us is with him at the end. The hospice staff have been absolutely amazing though and I'm full of admiration for the job they do.

  43. Unfortunately, in Scottish football terms, the Union Jack is always going to be wholly associated with those who support Sevco. Therefore, it has no place whatsoever at TFS as a flag representing our team.
