  1. Three weeks is a long time when your waiting for a doctor to tell you whether they can carry on with your treatment or there's nothing they can do. Finally this morning got a glimmer of good news in that they're happy to move onto the next stage. Looks like a round of chemo is on the cards, which I've been told is no picnic, but when there's no alternative you just need to get on with it. Not getting carried away but definitely a step in the right direction. Been sitting in the house since I got out of hospital but my legs are slowly beginning to work again so going to try and get along to see Broughty on Saturday.

  3. Congrats to the Labour Party for contriving to have a worse pandemic than the Government, despite not having responsibility for 100,000+ deaths. A bunch of utterly gormless knickerwetters who shriek 'reckless!!!!1111!!!!' about anything short of a blanket lockdown. There is absolutely no credible reason to quarantine anyone who has been fully vaccinated. It is mind-bogglingly stupid to suggest otherwise.

  4. They “went down” no league whatsoever. The new mob were shamelessly elected to jump in at the 4th tier.

  6. In the week that we get majority fan ownership of the club, are seeded in the last 16 of the league cup after getting maximum points in the group stage, have the best and most stable squad and manager we've had going in to a new season, by feck we've shown we've still got a Champions League level of Grumpy b*****d support.

  9. I wonder what it will eventually take for people en-masse to actually disregard anything independent SAGE say. They have quite literally got nothing correct throughout the entire pandemic and yet a disturbing number of people continue to hang off their every word as if they are fonts of knowledge. Do people think that they are same organisation as SAGE? Is that the issue? Because from what I've seen, though not perfect, SAGE have been a lot more accurate and reasonable in their modelling whereas independent SAGE are the fucking mental extremists in this entire scenario. Dangerous people who have a proven track record that their 'advice' should be wholly disregarded and mocked.

  17. "Independent" SAGE's entire shtick is that the actual SAGE, which advises the government, is essentially compromised by its government advisory work. In other words, they simply back up what the government tells them to. They are therefore, at least in their own heads, there to provide opposition to the government by forming some sort of shadow governance body. The naming was a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, and I have seen a few slippages in the media where they have inadvertently called this group "SAGE". The "Independent" label is nothing other than an insult to actual SAGE in an attempt to discredit them. It's fine that people want to have alternative opinions, but this lots are essentially a pressure group that have been afforded far too much air time. For an organisation that is set up to be critical towards the government and its advisory group, iSAGE, or at least some of its members (particularly Gurdasani), are also very sensitive to being criticised. If you're going to dish it out and make all sorts of accusations, you need to take the heat when it comes back at you.

  18. Hi, my name is Ryan, just to clear up some of the questions. As most of you know David has stepped back (hopefully not for too long) and I offered to keep the attendances for the East of Scotland Premier, Div 1 league A, B and X as well as the lowland league, and all the cups in the East. I have collected the goal scorers for the above leagues in their various names for the last few years and most of you know I am writing a history book about Musselburgh Athletic On the attendances: I have tried to be as polite as possible when asking clubs for this info. I realise some clubs have very little time and helpers with all the covid stuff thrown in the last thing they need is an arse phoning them up 2 minutes after the game asking for info. Having said that, it would be great to get 100% of the attendances. Until tonights (tuesdays) games we had 89 of the 108 games played with confirmed numbers - over 12,000 attending. Just to answer a few of the points made: I have been talking to pretty much every club and they try their best to post or text numbers. There was a post about ignoring responses, as far as I am aware I have answered every tweet or Facebook post that has tagged me and replied with a thank you, if any have been ignored it certainly wasn't intended. I do try to respond to every single post or comment as politely and clearly as I can The post about the information being published on here or some weekly update that was mentioned on twitter: In order to stay on the right side of the Association and the clubs, I have asked that permission be given/oked at the next EOS and Lowland meeting. A simple 'does anyone have any problem with that' question should be enough. It is just me double checking/being polite rather than finding out 1 or 2 aren't happy. As was posted above quiet a few clubs are posting the info on twitter which shows that clubs are happy and it shouldn't be a problem The post about the info being top secret or confidential - I think the answer above covers that. Some clubs are posting it. Some aren't. I was just being overly careful not to get on the wrong side of them. Many of the 77 (i think) clubs send direct messages and I check all their twitter posts, Facebook and websites to check for the info before sending out a tweet with the clubs needed tagged. I hope to obviously share the information with you all and also plan to compile a report to present to the clubs and associations on ways to maximise attendances at grounds based on the figures. The information is collected on 10 writing pads and after every set of fixtures fed into a basic excel spreadsheet. The pads are back up in case anything happens to the spreadsheet! I hope that helps with everything. I do intend to hand everything back to David on his return but should also add i welcome anyone who wishes to do headcounts at games be it supporters or club officials. Everyone is shooting towards the same goal of having this info complete and accurate. Finally, if you have any questions, ideas or just want any info for programmes etc feel free to contact me. I do have a full time job and 2 beautiful kids but always try to respond ASAP. Ryan Kelly on Facebook @ryanmusselburgh on twitter 07541355622 via text. All the best

  20. In January, half our team were ill with Covid causing a couple of games to be postponed and the rest of the squad and management to isolate. We played Hearts at Tynecastle for our first game in 4 weeks having not trained in 2 weeks and won 3-2. Jamie MacDonald did an interview after the match and was struggling to speak such was the effect that Covid and then the game had on him. So we have seen similar situations before and it’s certainly not impossible Falkirk can still be in a position to get a result on Saturday. We did get skelped by Hearts a few days later as our team were absolutely fucked after the weekends efforts but with a week before your next game there is plenty recovery time. The difference from our situation is we already had a bit of a fixture backlog but at this stage of the season there is plenty time to reschedule. In addition, the lack of training and missed games probably have a bigger effect at this stage as the players don’t have the minutes in the legs and base level of fitness at the same level.

  22. I understand there’s a pandemic etc., but the reality is that Dundee have made a much bigger arse of this than any club I’ve seen. I’m pissed off from a personal point of view. Last 2 seasons I’ve bought season tickets in the first couple of days of them being out and have so far had 0 tickets. I’m also pissed off from the point of view that plenty of things we do as a club are a shambles. We’re operating in the 20th century. The fact you have to queue multiple times for a ticket etc. is a joke. Why in the 21st century can’t you buy a ticket online and have it on your phone?

  25. Just be thankful it wasn't your own team in that position, then it would be your own fans you'd have to be embarrassed about coming out with similar nonsense. Relegating Thistle was the fairest thing to do at that point. Hitching our wagon to Anne Budge of all folk rightly made us a laughing stock.

  26. What about drug mules who are addicted to cocaine? Do we set them on fire then put it out? Just legalise it. Government takes over supply, ends criminal gangs dealing in cocaine, poor wee lassies won't be forced to carry gear-full suitcases to Peru, addicts get a cleaner drug and better support rather than thrown in jail, everybody is happy apart from the Helen Lovejoys ( @jimbaxters ).

  30. I've seen the table posted here a couple of times but not from the LL, where are you getting it from? The updates from the Lowland League have been shocking this year, they wanted to raise the profile of the league by introducing the colts and its been nothing but a farce so far. Maybe some of the 50k they got (none given to the clubs btw) could go towards hiring someone half decent to run the twitter and other media outlets?

  31. From the BBC website, this gem amidst an appalling Championship preview: "Partick Thistle were relegated to League 1 in the cruellest of fashions when the pandemic struck, sport was suspended indefinitely, and formulae rather than football decided league placings." Even if we ignore how badly punctuated it is, we're left with the content. Thistle's relegation apparently had nothing whatever to do with football. It's just staggering.

  33. No holidays for the last 18 months, which is very likely to bleed into 2 years for most.... Youngsters missing that chance to go away with their mates before life takes over are the main ones I feel for here. Proper coming of age thing that. Still, this thread has been riddled with "if you see foreign travel as a neccessity......" type chat throughout. Its little wonder scotgov DGAF about torpedoing the whole industry. They would do the same to football and hospitality if they could

  34. Correct. This is Leitch running on fumes. We don't have multiple news articles each year warning of the next wave of the flu, we target specific demographics and get them to take a vaccine. If you read what Leitch says, that's pretty much what will happen and he'll be packed away neatly into a box, hopefully one that will never open again.
