  1. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57651255 It's effectively the same thing the clubs rejected before. How many times does this idea need to be comprehensively rejected for the OF to finally realise nobody wants their cunting B teams.

  3. Almost 18 months into lock downs and/or restrictions and there's still folk on here who don't want them lifted, despite the vaccine working better than anyone expected. Fucking weird cunts.

  4. I've been meaning to say for a while, but what St Johnstone achieved last season is (IMHO) one of the greatest achievements by any Scottish club in living memory (bar the euro-baubles probably). Winning one trophy in a football climate that is so heavily stacked towards the 'bigger' clubs is amazing, but to win both is simply absolutely astonishing! Not only that, it has been achieved whilst running the club in the 'right way'! Way back, I had hoped that we'd do it in 13/14, but we lost to somebody (I don't remember who ) in the Scottish Cup semi. Yours, I am as green as a bit of cheese. aDONis

  5. They’re just going to keep asking until everyone gets bored and gives in Which might be this time League 2 reverting to no relegation for a few seasons is absolutely shite and just thinly veiled bribery

  6. And we're back in the room. Missed yesterday out. Nothing too exciting happened at the Euro's did it? Feel like i've been hit by a truck. Five big steel pins in my spine later, I'm just happy to be alive. We'll see what happens next. A genuinely terrifying night on Sunday. Thanks again for all your kind messages. Now, for the live of f**k, Come on Germany.

  8. They’ll be more confident because the lowland league clubs were thick as f**k and accepted it without thinking twice. Get this in the bin.

  9. Yeah. Regardless of when these are fully binned - be it a week, a month, a year or a decade from now, there is going to be a sizeable and vocal section of people who will wail that 'you have abandoned us' and 'what about variants/mutations/the children/long covid'. It doesn't matter when they end, it will be too soon for many, many people. There are a large number of bedwetters who are clearly whipped up into a frothing mess at how scary it all is but let's be honest, a large part of this section is most certainly made up of a mixture of Retirees who have all the home comforts that they need, mortgage paid, no social life to speak of so they'd rather just make sure everyone else can't move about either - protect their own interests The 'I'm alright Jack' types who think that because they have not really been affected by the restrictions, that there's no real need to change anything Those who have become totally acclimatised to sitting on their arse, watching daytime telly and in the last 18 months, having their wages from a job they detest either mostly or fully subsidised, so have not an iota of need to want to go back to their work and would like to delay forever more as long as the money is rolling in.

  12. It’s astounding they’re allowed to push this fallacy that it’s about developing players. It’s about denying, for example, Hamilton having any competitive edge when attracting youth players as they actually give youngsters opportunities. It’s about bypassing the need to pay Motherwell £3m for David turnbull, or letting an Andy Robertson go at a young age. It’s been said so many times but it needs called out for what it really is.

  13. You keep banging on about Croatia but a look at their squad for the EUROs shows a total of, erm, four players who "gained experience" playing for Colt / B teams. Dominik Livaković who played a whopping, erm, once for Dinamo Zagreb II, Josip Brekalo who racked up, um, nine appearances for the same reserve side, Joško Gvardiol who played an almight four times also for Zagreb II. Domagoj Bradarić has played 35 times for Hadjuk Split II. Four players with 49 Colt / B team appearances between them. Wow(!) So, as can clearly be seen, Croatia's good players are down to ability, good coaching and facilities and nothing at all to do with Colt sides so you can get straight into the sea with your absolute pish on this subject

  14. By my reckoning that's 48 teams from 46 clubs. Not 48 clubs.

  15. Its obviously a fucking stupid idea that should be hurtled towards the sun. The bit I find staggering though is that people are genuinely trying to claim it is about youth development. Is it bollocks. Its another example of the arse cheeks trying to deflect blame onto a league system, rather than asking why their multi-million pound training facilities and youth set ups fails so spectacularly to regularly create first team players. "Lack of first team football" - most of their better young players spend years on loan at Championship/Premiership level, at least 2 levels higher than what is currently proposed. It is absolutely right to say that Rangers* and Celtic arent producing enough players. But its due to their own failures and short termism rather than their players not being able to play Albion Rovers 4 times a year.

  16. 16 months of restrictions are one thing but wishing England good luck is a step too far.

  17. If the sole aim of this is to increase the opportunities for development for the best young players in Scotland, then the SFA should enter representative teams on behalf of all clubs. We could have a 'District' model for instance with an East of Scotland, West of Scotland, South and Highland team. If you don't go for district teams there could be a draft system to add a bit of excitement too. If it really is about development, the OF can loan their players to those teams. As can everyone else.

  18. Despite never meeting the guy but apparently wanting him to fail and having it in for him, both not true, I should probably have a decent go at trying to answer this. For me, above all else its perhaps, rightly or wrongly, that he has brought with him a reputation for putting together lopsided squads, that lack attacking flair, balance, potential and overall general ability. Perspiration over inspiration seems to be the mantra. For me the following two attributes are crucial to the success of a lower league club: Off the park, we were warned over and over again that above average recruitment wasn't his strength. On the park, we were warned his style of play was ineffective, pretty basic / industrial but more importantly didn't lend itself to winning enough games. And based on what we've seen so far from his time in charge, the leopard isn't for changing his spots. We're seeing for ourselves through our own eyes that history is repeating itself. Stepping back would you agree with those two points in isolation? Regardless, anyone failing to have serious reservations about the one direction we seem to be heading in is kidding themselves on. We've seen this movie in various guises over the years. It rarely ends well. What's going to happen to change the current trajectory? So forgive the growing majority for actually stating the obvious while the let's give him time patter continues to annoyingly get regurgitated in various forms. A lack of goals, creativity and quality that was sorely missing last season, from a squad that had McCowan in it, has patently failed to be addressed. It gives me no pleasure in stating that. If we ain't creating or scoring how can you expect to win matches? It rarely ends up well. The season coming appears to be one of the most competitive Championships for a number of seasons. One we all should be eagerly waiting to start. This in no way means I hope he fails because if it does then it means the club fails. If it fails this season then it'll likely end up in a trip back to League 1 I'm afraid. Nobody wants that. At the outset there wasn't an unlimited pool of players for us to sign on permanent deals or on loan anyway. But as the list of possibles dwindle and go elsewhere, we're looking more and more likely to be ending up with the usual below average ragtag bunch of rejects, loanees and rough diamonds. It rarely ends well. Above average recruitment and getting the best value you can for your budget can go a long way to overachieving in this league. We look miles off even reaching average. I hope I'm wrong.

  20. First time he was booed was at the remembrance day game at Pittodrie, (the first game after the Tonev incident), then every game since. It’s a common myth that Celtic fans boo him because of his “actions at Parkhead” At least be honest about it you clown.

  21. Got to thinking about Holt's answer about getting a prolific goal scoring striker in and how there have only been 18 players scoring 15 goals a season over the last 3 seasons. I never knew that we only played football in Scotland. Try looking further afield man: National League and National Leagues North and South in England, the Irish League, the League of Ireland, the Welsh League. Stop sending fecking emails at 12 midnight and do some research on these leagues, earn your money.

  24. The thing about season tickets is we don't know what we're buying. Will I be getting 18 games in a normal stadium situation where I can sit where I usually do in the SS or will it be a socially distanced arrangement with limited numbers and sit where you're told - in the far corner of the MS for instance? Or will it be the godawful stream? They're selling a product, until I know what it is I ain't buying. As for "support your club" and treat it like a donation - they can get that in the sea.

  26. Appetite coming back slowly, hes had a good few handfuls of chicken and some cows milk through the day. Cooking some brown rice for him to go with his chicken, will see how it goes down. He's literally leaking green shite and I've had to stick him in the dog shower (yes, I fitted a dog shower into our utility room, f**k you) about 8 or 9 times since 4 o'clock this afternoon. Hes more like himself but its genuinely gruelling and I seriously hope he improves tomorrow.

  32. I've not renewed and I won't be so I've decided I won't be posting about Falkirk much in the coming season as I feel it's not my right as I won't be seeing the team regularly. One thing I will say about Holt or anyone else who viewed that muck last season is the first priority for me would have been sorting out goalscorers but this doesn't seem to be a priority. We were absolutely shite up front last season and looking at what Holt has identified to remedy this I can see no reason for this to change this season.

  33. Not fussed about Kennedy myself. Ethan Ross looked far more resourceful and added more to the team. Kennedy was sensational in his first couple of games and was by no means the worst loanee we'll have from Ibrox but never looked anywhere near as good a players as the media hyped him up to be.

  34. It's one thing signing a youngster as a gamble but you have to have a player much closer to a sure bet for goals in your squad too. Look at our rivals this season. Cove have strikers with goals in them, queen's park have strikers with goals in them at the moment I wouldn't bet on any of our boys getting more than 4 or 5 and that would include a youngster with very little game time. We cannot go into the league campaign with a crocked Keena, dowds and a young boy with zero experience as our striking options. Any other addition better not be either of those jobbers from the meadow game. You would have thought that whilst Holt was signing all these pre contracts last season a striker would've been a priority considering how utterly woeful their record was last season.

  35. There is. Well, of sorts. Chris is at work, so it'll be myself and Paddy Boyle talking about 2009 whilst a football match is played out in the background. I'm hoping he'll just spend 90 minutes telling me stories about Chizzy and I can sit quietly and listen.

  36. These clowns dont actually come at this from a logic stance do they? The restrictions as they currently stand, clearly do not suppress community spread of infection, and as such, whatever risk there is of long covid and VaRiAnTz exists currently. Why dont these people just be hoenst and come out and say they want actual, last April lockdown back Current restrictions are pure theatre and its a disgrace that some businesses are still bleeding at the altar of this theatre. There is no longer any political capital to be made from "we care more than the tories". All thats left now are dangerous people like Deepti spreading dangerous lies like "covid is causing disability in children!!!!" Twitter ought to start running down the lies now tbh. Lives are being saved by the vaccines and a greater understanding of how to treat. They are not being saved by these pearl clutching psychopaths

  39. I actually quite like dogs. One thing I hate though is birds who are obsessed with them. Call themselves a ‘dog mum’, usually closely approaching thirty and single. Refer to them as ‘doggos’ and have things like ‘must love dogs’ or ‘will swipe right if you have a dog’ in their dating profile. Life and personality revolves around owning a dog and taking pictures of it/dressing it up. Dog instagrams.

  41. I really hope that everyone who’s struggling with this disease, whether directly or being around nearest and dearest with it, are getting the support they need. My own family has gone through a steady train of brain tumour pish in recent years (my mum’s dad died with one in summer 2017, my dad’s mum died with one in early 2018, and in late 2019 my dad got diagnosed with one). It turns people’s lives completely upside down, totally shattering plans and expectations and assumptions about the way your life is going to be. With dad its like he’s gone senile post op and radio/chemo and we know it’s just a matter of time. That’s obviously rubbish for him but it’s been horrendous for my mum, who had always counted on him being the one to look after her (with all her own health issues) in old age. I’m lucky enough to have them down here at the moment for a bit, and I’ll hopefully be up in August for my nephew’s baptism, but there is that dawning realisation that they gave him 18 months in March 2020, and that despite a relatively stable spell in late 2020 he’s close to borrowed time now. At times it feels like you’re doing the grieving long before he actually passes though, as all the things that gave him joy and all the things that were shared experiences in our father son relationship just become harder or impossible. Dad’s love was classic cars; he can’t drive. We would always banter with puns; he struggles to string a sentence together without using the wrong word. Right now we are watching the cricket and he saw Phil Tufnell and said “that’s that rugby player. Wait. No. Not rugby”. He knows he’s trapped in this cloud of fuzzy nonsense but he can’t quite fight out of it. He came into the study during the pandemic and once said that lunch was “the flat disc thingies” (meaning pizzas ). He would pass some time reading the newspaper early on in his treatment; he can’t now read much more competently than an 8 year old child. It’s the robbed time I resent. If I find a woman who’ll have me he’ll probably never meet her. If I have children he’ll never meet them. They’ll never get to know the sharp silly man we’ve all loved for decades. In many ways I’ve been so lucky to have him in my life throughout my childhood as a reliable and supportive influence. I really do feel for those who lose a parent in childhood. But even though I objectively have my life shit fairly together I still feel like I’ll be totally lost without him when he pops his clogs. What I’d give for just another, say, five years…
