  1. Presumably you’re also happy about the irrevocable damage that Sturgeon’s Covid restrictions are doing to Scottish businesses then? Given that we continue to have the toughest restrictions in the U.K., allied to the Scottish government’s withdrawal of Strategic Framework support for Scottish businesses that are required to stay closed (or are otherwise adversely affected) by ongoing government restrictions, unquestioning support for Sturgeon and the Scottish government’s Covid policies (no matter how punitive, illogical, self- contradictory or unwarranted the restrictions are) implies support for the enormous damage done to Scottish businesses, particularly in the travel, entertainment, hospitality, live music and events sectors. I noted with interest Andy Burnham’s comment that the Scottish government should be compensating English businesses after Sturgeon’s ‘ban’ on travel to Manchester / Salford (which have comparable Covid rates to Dundee). You’ve got no chance, Andy - Sturgeon is no longer even compensating Scottish businesses for the adverse effects of her draconian restrictions.

  3. You talk some shite, fanboy. The business is a builders merchant or some such IIRC? Demand and prices through the roof and your biggest issue is keeping up with the customers. Comparing that with a nightclub that hasn’t traded for 15 months or a restaurant running at restricted capacity? Spare me.

  4. Imagine being Billy Gilmour who, despite living in a country where 81.5% of all adults have had one vaccine dose (and 57.8% have had both), is going to miss what potentially could be the last major tournament game he ever has the opportunity to play for Scotland in because he isn't ill. An absolute nonsense. Fucking Lovejoys.

  5. Really sad news. Far too young. My sincere condolences to his friends and family. I myself beat cancer 4 years ago but after going for an MRI yesterday on what I thought was a fucked disc at Ninewells it would appear my spine is fucking riddled with it. Outlook not great for me and I am scared as f**k but ready to fight. Hope to be spouting my shite on here again soon. Adios until then and remember to tell your nearest and dearest that you love them.

  6. Thanks for all your kind wishes folks. Had my first op this morning with a second, bigger one to come later this week. They're no hanging around. It went well and I'm sitting up in bed enjoying a festival of football tonight. Copa America still to come. Doped up to the eyeballs on the good shit and feeling much more positive than the previous 48 hours. Thanks again everyone. You can't begin to imagine how much you've all lifted my spirits.

  8. "According to the professor, children and the elderly are likely to be more vulnerable to endemic viruses during the winter due to the lack of immunity social distancing has caused." So obviously the solution is to continue with restrictions and social distancing. Honestly, where have these fucking morons come from?

  11. Gut feeling then, that a guy I'm guessing you'd never heard of in a league I'd wager you know as little as I do about will be gone in 6-8 months? that's fine but our manager who worked with him for nearly two years in professional soccer has a different opinion and thinks he can offer something to the squad short term and offered him a 1yr deal. I just don't get the insta negativity. What exactly are you expecting? a whole new team, backroom staff, philosophy to magically appear instantly and free of charge ready to challenge at the top ? this isn't Champ Manager and we don't have cheat codes(RIP Rangers). Ultimately Glass will live or die by his signings but holy f**k it's June give the guy a fighting chance eh?

  13. I honestly hope this is the death of that site. It 100% should be. Those 2 articles truly are disgustingly ignorant. The racism one was posted days after we signed Todorov, who spoke out about the abuse he received during a Raith game last season - for which Davidson only got a 2 game ban. I have some Asian friends who were abused on the streets (racial profiling) near the start of the pandemic. I have been in a job (left soon after), where my boss interviewed someone, then said she wasn’t sure about them, before asking everyone in the office if they would be comfortable working with a black person. Don’t tell me racism isn’t an issue in this country, it 100% is. Just because it’s not as commonly reported on as it is in other countries, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t an issue. Imagine bragging about having 4 friends from non-white backgrounds, as if that makes you diverse. Anyone who is an admin on that site should be embarrassed. Two incredibly bizarre and bigoted articles on a football fan site.

  17. My final post in this thread is just to say thank you to so many of you for being so very generous. Unless any more donations come in, the final total comes in at a few pence shy of £4,200. That is a phenomenal amount and will help lots of other young people who have life-threatening illnesses. A significant proportion of that total comes from you guys yet to the best of my knowledge, none of you ever met him. It is the mark of both madwullie and you guys that you can achieve something like this. His funeral was last week and it was and continues to be a difficult time, especially for his wife and kids. But both she and I are touched and more than a little humbled by all your kind messages and donations. Thank you. Richie x

  20. Cases are today roughly the same as what they were on October 14th. On that day there were 570 people in hospital (versus 158 today) 49 in ICU (versus 14 today) and 15 deaths (against 0 today).

  25. Definitely. McGregor was every bit as good as Gilmour was but didn't get the credit that Gilmour did. We also played the last 20 minutes without Gilmour and were every bit as good then as we were in the first 70, so it's not like we can't cope without him. Obviously I'd much rather he was available, but the whole 'just our luck' routine from some people is over the top. Missing 1 player 3 games into a tournament is hardly being hard done to, the fact it's from a positive test result rather than a football injury/suspension does feel more frustrating, but it shouldn't be a huge issue.

  32. Playoff #193 fizzled ooot.. This weekend doffers were; Pfizer Premiership Title Playoff @alang1993 13,333 v @WhiteRoseKillie NO SCORE Europa Cup Seeding Playoff @Arch Stanton 12,500 v @The Hologram 26,500 Soh Chin Ann Playoff @The_Kincardine P26 W14 L12 - last app 6th Jun '21 24 teams with squads of 26 players with an average of 15 caps each equates to 9,360 total. v @German Jag P29 W18 L11 - last app 22nd May '21 21000 Billy Gilmour Playoff @Eednud P21 W14 L7 - last app 25th Apr '21 Will say squad average 30 caps x 24 = 7,200 caps v @NJ2 P34 W19 L15 - last app 6th Jun '21 Right, so there’s 6 groups of 4 teams, 24 teams with 26 players means 624 players. Let’s assume they have an average of 30 caps each because why not and the total is 18,720. Easy. Question - What is the total amount of caps for all squad players at EURO 2020, before the start of the tournament? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Euro_2020_squads @alang1993 wins his 27th title as @WhiteRoseKillie screwed up! @Arch Stanton takes the top seeding in the Europa with @The Hologram second It's a dismissal from the top tier for @The_Kincardine as @German Jag outguns him. In the other playoff @Eednud calculator battery ran out half way through the calculation, @NJ2, can smell the victory as more or less bang on. The correct average for squads 29.47 caps per player. See you all in the future, be good stay safe.

  34. It will recover in the sense that life, for most people, will get back to normal in the flick of a switch. I think it's quite clear that will happen given the complete disregard, where possible, for restrictions now. If we could have 50,000 in Hampden 100,000 in Glasgow Green for the football on Tuesday then we'd have no trouble shifting the tickets multiple times over. The general fear of covid has essentially gone as a result of the superb vaccines. There will be people, however (especially older people or those with underlying health conditions) that are going to be absolutely terrified of their shadow for years to come. I don't know how these people can be brought back from that, and I genuinely worry that many will fall into a reclusive lifestyle as a result. It's going to be a sad sight seeing people kicking about the shops wearing face shields in the summer of 2022 because they genuinely fear that if they don't wear one they will die.

  35. I didn't really think anyone was that bad on Monday. Losing by a couple of goals was such a disappointment and I think everyone was hungry for a scapegoat and being overanalytical at really small moments and having their own take about who was to blame. Like O'Donnell getting in Chrsties way for example, it just sometimes happens and players making mistakes and killing an attack in the last third happens dozens of times a game. Felt like that was hyped as being indicative of what a useless b*****d he was etc. The Czechs were lethal and upset the game plan taking the lead and collectively, I think we just weren't composed enough to play the occasion and wasted time by initially isolating Dykes. Realistically, we need to recognise that the players we have are the players we have and they need a bit of continuity. O'Donnell is on a similar level to other top flight right backs but it's a position we're very bare in and whilst we hope on Patterson kicking on and he looks promising technically, O'Donnell has done as well as expected for the national team and is trusted by the manager for a reason.

  39. The first lockdown lasting longer than 3 weeks was clearly the right thing to do. I don't really get this point that people try to make quite a lot about the initial lockdown - the intention may well have been for it only to last that long, but given that after those 3 weeks we were in an even worse position, still knew very little about the virus, and had little idea of how to treat it, let alone vaccines, it was obviously logical to carry on with the restrictions. That bears no resemblance to the current situation.

  42. At the time it was the right thing to do to give me a bit of breathing space & realise, when prompted by my phsychiatrist that I was lashing out at people for no good reason other than my own self loathing. That allowed me to fix that issue when I had the break rather than continuing to pick needless fights to mask the real problem which was making me look like an utter dick on here.. Like you said whatever works but that disconnect helped me to reset & honestly the issues I had went way beyond my posts on here & I am thankfully recovered from the mental torture I was falling victim to.
