  1. I have been inspired by recent events to write this little ditty, entitled 'Conundrum Solved.' Johnny my dear, our balance is short, In order to purchase our dream house of sorts. Wife, never mind that house in the Ferry, My dream is right now, With 2 seats in The Derry.

  2. Jesus Christ someone better call the circus, all the clowns have escaped today Congratulations aswell to whoever the tube was who has forced @Finlay21 to feel as if he needs to stay silent, he's the true fan trying to keep supporters in the loop, he does this in his free time and doesn't get paid by the club for what he does on here however putting strips by, giving stadium info and player information is massively above and beyond anything he needs to do (and from the outside looking in more than what people paid provide the supporters with), but does this cause he's clearly got the club at heart. Also on Todorov he was well within his right to hint about Todorov being signed and he was right about it happening because it looks like Todorov has done a sly one at the last minute and fucked Hopkin and Ayr over. Any idiot who condones someone doing any of the above, even if it's an online forum, can't call themselves a true supporter.

  3. I wonder what could possibly have resulted in McCall not signing that many players for a club he left himself that summer. So anyway, quick Thursday morning recap: Less than four weeks until the first competitive game Net player count from last season, where the team was already threadbare and sorely lacking quality: -5 Currently zero (0) senior keepers on the books Current best up-front option is the 36-year-old Ayr signed from Girvan over a decade ago Deals within the Scottish market have essentially been concluded, with any identified free players in the top two tiers now accounted for. Ayr's take from this is three defenders from Morton (finished ninth; including Sean McGinty, almost universally regarded as the poorest defender in the league last season) and one U21 Strong evidence that any remaining permanent signings will either be from an agency that acts like a sort of Battersea Dogs Home for unloved players looking for their forever home, or the National League (or below) Strong evidence that a significant portion of the regular playing squad will be loanees from the much-vaunted partnership with Burnley, because squads full of loan signings are always top quality The board's resident in-the-know club staff member, after tapping his nose for weeks about the quality of a signing who ultimately couldn't hold his nose for long enough to sign a contract, is unaware of how many seats the ground has But hey, there might at last be an alternative to Hawkhill Bowling Club for a pre-match drink, in around December, if pubs are still a thing by then Occasionally when I'm feeling down, I'll look through old threads from a team's calamitous relegation season. Falkirk's or Morten's for instance. It's interesting to note that they are an absolute carbon copy of this one: people spelling out utterly dire facts about the club's situation, occasionally getting beaten down by happy clappers incapable of making decisions based on anything that didn't happen in their line of sight within the span of their persistence of vision. (Except with more racism in Falkirk's case.) Mind you, seeing as the club is saving all of this Better-Than-McCall-Got budget for someone, maybe Sergio Ramos is going to be the marquee signing.

  4. Can't wait for the season to start to get by all this p*sh Its pretty clear there are opposing views on the proposed investment and whether it should have gone through or not and that's fine however it doesn't do anyone any favours to be completely blinkered by their support or defence of the board. I do believe we all want the same thing (a successful Falkirk) but its not true that everything the board does is a complete shambles just as much as its not true that everything they do is brilliant. I honestly believe the majority on here find fault with anything that comes out of the club to the extent that often these are the very things they were bumping their gums about before they happened (sack M&M! clear out the team! We don't have any players! MR&SA GTF! Rawlins in! Rawlins out! ST not on sale! STs too expensive! no Q&A! Q&A shit! Announce refunds! Refunds disgrace! Falkirk TV shit! Pixellot shitter! No social media coverage! Why are we at Napier! let fans invest! Don't buy season tickets! Sign McCann! We need bigger names! KK doesn't have shares/toxic part of the board! KK was brilliant how could he have gone!) I get folk are pissed off (I am too) but it would be impossible atm for anything to come out of the club that a lot on here wouldn't have issue with.

  5. I get being angry about restrictions but this is a really shitty way to speak about people actually dying or struggling to breathe in a hospital

  6. It should go without saying that any Falkirk 'supporter' who pulls the "I'm buying a season ticket cos I'm SUCH a superfan and I choose to blindly follow this mob who seem to actively hate me" while making others feel guilty about taking a refund without knowing anything about their personal circumstances, is a total dick.

  9. Surely the fact we're talking about a sum of only 75k for refunds should be starting the warning signs ringing already. For a start the Rawlins increased investment we were promised would have covered that easily not to mention the 600k knocked back from the navy blue boys. It just emphasises the fact that the Rawlins have managed to get hold of the club on the cheap and will continue to run it on the cheap so that it's no skin off their nose if it all goes tits up. What exactly do these people bring to the table if they aren't interested in covering a 75k max payment which would be a nice opening gesture to fans that have suffered greatly over the last few years.

  10. I understand that, but there's a bigger picture. I remember years back, there was a regular habit of signing "Who's the monkey in the gloves?" to the opposition goalkeeper, and a discussion emerged (I think in theory only, I don't think it actually came from an actual incident) about whether or not the song should continue if we faced a black goalkeeper. One side of the argument went that they've been calling every goalkeeper a monkey, so it would be "positive discrimination" to stop just for someone who's black, and the other side went... you can't be calling a black person a monkey, regardless of wider circumstance or context! I believe there's an ongoing debate in Ayrshire (I think it's Kilmarnock but it could be Ayr United, forgive me) because they've got a song they've sung for years that features the phrase "black b*****ds". Now, like in Fife, "black" has long been a byword for "dirty" or "unclean" without any hint of racial connotations, but at a certain point you've got to look at it and say "could that be misconstrued by someone who doesn't have the full context?" and the answer is undoubtedly that yes, it could. In a very similar situation to our own, there was an incident in a game between Celtic and Aberdeen a few years back, where Shay Logan alleged racist abuse, and still to this day is booed by Celtic fans. Now if you ask the Celtic fans why, they'll tell you that it's because he's a wind-up merchant, or a cheat, or a something else, but it's still a really bad look to be booing someone who was the victim of racist abuse, especially in Todorov's case where his allegation was proven. I'm not suggesting we set up a support group for him or clap him onto the park, but I really, really don't want a visitor at the first derby (let alone a member of the press) turning to the person next to them to say "Why are they booing the big number nine? Isn't he the one who was racially abused?" There might be other reasons to dislike him, they might be entirely justified, but deciding to take a stand over this "dive" (particularly when there are a dozen other players who take a dive at Stark's every season) is just a really, really bad look, and looks matter.

  11. Pleading poverty to try and justify it is brutal too. Bold to play that card after turning down 600k from a supporters' group.

  13. I do understand your stance completely. Personally, I have been a glass half empty person for years. I'm trying to be more positive. I have significant health problems with not a lot to look forward to. I don't want to spend whatever time I have left feeling angry and regretful. I can't work anymore so following Falkirk has taken an even great part of my life than normal. I just want the team to do well and I couldn't give a monkey's for the board.

  15. From wink-wink-nudge-nudge we're definitely signing a great centre forward, through you should never judge players on what they do at clubs other than Ayr, onto that great centre forward (even though you can't judge him as great yet because he hasn't played for Ayr) signing for someone else, to furiously announcing he won't interact with someone being negative about how the summer is going to date as there's no pleasing some people when this negativity has at least partly been unleashed by missing out on the player he'd been dropping hints at, then finally inventing 500 seats from thin air, this thread has been excellent reading for #ITK takes.

  19. Possibly the worst statement they’ve ever produced. Complaining about 75k when they had 600k on their doorstep 2 weeks ago. Did that simply not exist then? Given 75k seems to be a big amount of money to Falkirk now, how did Deans and cabal act in the best interests of the club in rejecting it? From the outside looking in it seems they’re not just out of touch, they’re genuine idiots too. They seriously think they can get away with such an obvious attempt to pull wool over our eyes. It might be time for a stadium protest ala 18/19 relegation. They really didn’t enjoy that.

  20. We are already committed to providing Paul Sheerin with a playing squad budget that we believe is the largest in the league and have recently restarted our youth development programme. If we reduce season ticket prices or offer cash refunds, we are simply reducing the amount of money that we can spend and will then be forced to make very difficult decisions about the playing squad and youth development, something no one wants us to do. Who thought that paragraph was a good idea, offer refunds or offer what you're going to offer then leave it be. Don't start guilt tripping or threatening your own support. They also need to cut the pish about the 'largest' in the league we're well aware we're the biggest fish here so stop telling us it and focus on getting us out this tiny fishbowl.

  21. Exactly, it's the usual shite. Look at one of the very first lines "We have been asked by a number of fans about the possibility of refunds, or other compensation". Motherwell come out and offer a free season ticket really early doors. FFC gives a strong impression that they'd really rather not have had to issue any statement whatsoever and are only doing it cause some fans are being unreasonably uppity.
    7 points
  22. £30-40 could be a lot of money for some people. Poor from some fans to suggest no one should be taking up the refund but for the club to try and guilt trip people into not taking it is risible.
    7 points
  23. I see the happy clapper brigade on twitter are slating any fan who requests a refund without knowing the financial situation. A lot of fans may have lost their job or had their hours cut and every penny is important. We really are a c**t of a club with a large number of c***s for fans. Think the time is fast approaching where I chuck it, can't be arsed with it all anymore. Nothing is ever going to change.

  27. Think that's a tad unfair. If @Finlay21 had saw the player kicking about at Somerset, obviously you would be led to believe that they'd either be signing or had already signed. @Finlay21gives us good information when he knows or sees something regarding a signing, harsh to criticise when he's usually correct and the first in the know. I believed that the family stand, disability stand and the bit next to the dugout would have been counted. So 1500 odd seats + 200 + 200 on what was usually the oppositions side next to the St. Andrews first aid building = roughly 2000.

  28. Pretty incredible to think that the club cud have an extra 600k in the bank going into this season if our chairman just done the decent thing and resigned after last seasons capitulation, if fact he could have walked away claiming to have delivered on his remit to bring extra investors into the club - how in any way can he justify that that decision was in the best interests of the club?

  30. The problem is that our player called him a specific variety of c*nt, on grounds that aren't fair game and frankly could have brought a lot of shame (and a range of costs) on the club. The fans have now to live with the way behaviour towards him is understood in that context. What kind of folk are we?

  31. Why not pay back fans by making some actual sit up and notice signings that say we are going to win this league this year and noone is going to stop us. Christ even ally mccoist won league one so come on Rawlins invest in the team if you want to run the club. Start bringing in players that will guarantee us a league win and not the same old jobbers in the main we've been signing for the past few seasons. That's how you get the fans back on side. Get the juices flowing to watch Falkirk. Resigning Ben hall ain't going to do that I'm afraid. Where's your contacts you've picked up in the past. We're still fishing in the same pond as the last two years.

  32. Funny that. People that mix more will spread the virus more. Case numbers now above where they were 3 months ago. Hospitalisations nowhere near it. In percentage terms it would seem a large increase. In actual number terms it's about 300 up from the lowest point. Yep. We really look like we're on the brink of a wave of hospitalisations that will break the NHS with all these young people passing the virus to each other. The irony is they're actually helping the situation now because by mixing and spreading the disease amongst each other they're contributing to the build up of herd immunity and harming sod all in the process.

  33. If Shane Sutherland had been the one that got Davo sent off we wouldn’t be having this conversation which is a really sad state of affairs. Maybe I’m just naive and think we should be able to live in a world where there is no discrimination at all and you should be able to call a c*nt a c*nt without giving thought to what variety of c*nt he is and whether that has an influence on whether it’s ok to call him a c*nt or not.

  34. Even if we accept the flimsy nonsense about player development in B teams helping the national team by developing players (it doesn't but let's humour it for a minute), the purpose of lower league football is not to facilitate the national team. Clubs are competing to win trophies, provide entertainment to their communities/supporters and to progress up the structure through their performances on the park. The national team is completely separate.

  35. It is with great sadness that I inform you that P+B semi-regular madwullie (Woody in real life) died yesterday at the age of 44, after a long battle with cancer. I'm sure a few of you are thinking "who?", and whilst not the most prolific of posters, he did enjoy sticking his oar in on the politics forum, as well as forays into the FIFA, parenting, chess and quiz thread. IRL, Woody was one of the warmest, soundest, cleverest and funniest people you could ever hope to meet. Woody leaves behind a wife and two sons, and we all miss him dearly. Edit: For those just reading this, so many of you have been so generous already, but in case anyone out there wants to donate to Mr + Mrs madwullie's chosen charity, here's a link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/woody-willowfoundation ... thank you.

It was an unpleasant experience, The Scarf. I was hungover, lost, alone, crippled with fear. The weather was shite, the roads were shite, and then I found my way to bealach na ba, conditions worsened to about 10ft of visibility. I was convinced I was going to die. 40. Royally, clearly way over my head. Head of the clinical operational research unit at UCL : "Even 2 weeks of tens of thousands of daily cases means hundreds of thousands of overall cases, which means tens of thousands more (mostly young) people living with long covid. It means hundreds of thousands of chances for further mutation that can resist vaccines." P&B epidemiologist djchapsticks "Variants are only a concern as people buy into the utter shite spouted about mutations by the media" That's a no on the thread I've missed then? in fact don't bother replying as I'm out, my smooth brain can't cope.

I don’t think people should blame you as one move never came through and as someone pointed out had Dunfermline not sold McManus he would probably be standing holding an ayr scarf above his head. People have been losing their head quite a lot but don’t take the hate too seriously. We are all frustrated recently but that shouldn’t be taken out on you!

  42. Can't believe some of the shit written here regarding Todorov. So we are going to chant cheat cheat or boo him everytime because he made a meal out of a challenge to try and gain an advantage for his team? Utter bs. We just signed Dario Zanatta ffs. People in glass houses etc. IMO people who boo him or chant at him and drag this on will just be bringing the club into further disrepute. Get a fucking grip. Morons.
