  1. What we are seeing here is effectively what we should have allowed last summer - the young and healthy to get exposed and become naturally immune, whilst protecting the vulnerable. That thing the experts told us was unnacceptable as "eVeRyOnE iS aT rIsK!!1!" looks, predictably, to be yet more spectacularly wrong mewling pish to add to the collection.

  2. So we’re in a situation now where we have 15 covid patients in ICU across the whole country despite cases rising for weeks. We may or may not be able to move to level 0 in 4.5 weeks as we just don’t know and also there is a risk of ‘long covid’. ‘Greater normality’ as laid out in an SG report may or may not be possible at ‘some point’. We are now so far from the purpose of restrictions it’s unreal.

  3. 1 - no one in the SNP can disagree with or question chief Mammy. 2 - any opposition party that dare question is treated with contempt because they are unionists.

  4. If madwullie is reading this from the other side, part of him will be delighted by the fundraising but with his P&B hat on he’d be hoping Cardinal Richelieu embezzles the lot and spends it on a cruise round the fjords and getting some home improvements done.

  5. The AGM last year was done via a zoom type format with an independent journalist ( can’t remember the guys name) collecting and fielding the questions to the BOD, he was also quite good at pressing them when he wasn’t happy with the answers. They also had a live chat option where you could type questions in real time for him to collect and put to the BOD. I don’t see why a similar format can’t be used for the Q&A, the only reason they can be doing this pre recorded thing is to actively avoid any scrutiny. It’s the complete opposite of the transparency with fans they claim to want.

  7. Is anyone else at home keeping score? By my reckoning that is now over 5 weeks since we were made aware of the spike in delta/Indian variants in parts of Glasgow and Moray and we were told that although there was no massive impact on ICU or deaths, that we were being deliberately difficult as we all should know that these figures won't be reflected for 2-3 weeks and there would be a spike in both. So where is this? There are still only 17 people in the whole country in ICU.

  8. That really got to me. It was pathetic. People die. People will die of Covid. More people will die of heart disease and cancer. I'll die one day. Not sure how or when. It could be today for all I know. Is it nice to think about and talk about? Not really. But there's no point hitting out with wishy-washy language about a fact of life. Sturgeon is clearly trying to appease the Lovejoys and 'LoNg cOViD KilLLs 2' brigade with wording like that. The other thing that gets me is 'the race between vaccination and the virus'. Well, yesterday, Scotland did 26k vaccinations (apparently an undercount) and reported just under 1000 Covid cases. Even taking into account the fact not all Covid cases will be reported, I'd like to put a solid fiver on the vaccination winning that particular 'race'. The 'adult conversation' she spoke about last summer feels like a very distant memory.

  9. Back in 1999, there was a huge build up to the Euro 2000 playoff against England. There was the big thing about us getting a decent result at hampden to take down the road. We got humped. I remember a very similar burst baw feeling to what we have right now . Disappointment, frustration, apathy. We went doon to the old wembley with no much of a hope . I remember billy dodds talking before the game about scoring in the first 10 minutes to level the playing field ... but the english squad was full of household names. Big sol campbell at the back , ye had yer nevilles , beckhams , shearers ,scholes ... we had nae chance. By f**k , did we give them a scare. It turned oot the only englishman to score was our own. Big christian dailly was a bawhair away from levelling the tie! (Albeit with heroics from Seaman) Ma point is... this isny done , naw by a long way. We perform when the chips are doon. Underdog seems to suit us. We would have bit the hand off at any point over the last 23 years to be in this position we are in right now . Come on Scotland!

  10. I could have put my foot through the telly with that shitey wishy-washy language by NS today. A paper to outline what life will look like beyond level zero? - f**k off I will never commit to an acceptance that we just have to live with the virus as that's disrespectful to the dead? - Pish, no it isn't. Please don't put words in my mouth, I never said 10 more weeks - Well your medical advisor did so you want to have words. The level of caution being exercised is absolutely pathetic and beyond needless now. I mentioned around a year ago that they are content to kick the can down the road indefinitely and be the very last place to open up fully if need be, just so they are seen to never be too hasty in what they are doing. Nationally, we are ruled by varying levels of right-wing scumbags in London who will continually f**k us over to line their own pockets and locally, we're run by a team of snivelling, patronising shitebags who are increasingly taking steps that scream 'Nanny State'.

  11. It's not about independence as much as the UK left has dismally embraced lockdown, restrictions and 'protect the NHS!!!!1111!!!' as its universal calling cards. Which is going to work out so well when the fucking enormous bill for this pointless exercise in economic self-destruction is paid for by the poorest in society and likely fatal cuts to what's left of the UK welfare state.

  14. Labour's agenda is to make smart-arse quips about 'India not being on the red list sooner', in the belief that the general public are going to thank them for this carping from the sidelines and just playing the wee man enablers of all government policy anyway. For some reason, this is not converting into the landslide polling lead they expected. In a Westminster context, the only sensible move - even if you're an opposition party that supports knicker-wetting restrictions - should be to oppose the government and expose the divisions between it and its own rebels.

  17. I also liked how aghast she was when someone dared to ask about Leitch’s 10 weeks delay comments as if they had come from someone off the street. I personally have no idea how statements by the national clinical director who has been wheeled out daily as a government mouthpiece for the last 16 months could possibly be taken as Scot Gov policy.

  18. Email sent. Dear Sirs, I was delighted to read about the forthcoming Q & A session that is due to take place soon and which will be recorded and then made available to view on FTV on Thursday 24th June. However, myself and several of my friends and fellow supporters are a bit concerned about the proposed format of the session, which will have Lewis Connolly of FTV acting as an “independent” conduit of fans questions to be directed to the Board and coaching staff. We feel that this format puts Lewis in an extremely difficult situation – if the questions that he selects are too “soft” he will be under pressure from the fans and considered a mouthpiece of the club – if the questions that he asks of the board etc. are too difficult he will come under pressure from within the club. He is between a rock and a hard place. Surely a fairer and more transparent format would be for the session to be live on Zoom, that way the club could be 100% sure that the questions, to use your own words, “have not been cherry-picked or vetted prior to being posed”. In fairness to everybody, Lewis, the fans and the board and coaching staff, I hope that you will reconsider the format of the Q & A session. I look forward to your reply. Bairn in Exile

  21. They are on a hiding to nothing with this as no matter if we only sell 500 ST's they cannot wheel this out as an excuse if we fail to go up, they turned down £600k of investment after all so they don't need the money.

  23. 'Adult conversation' for Nicola Sturgeon means 'I'm going to order you to do annoying, contradictory and sometimes useless things and you've to be 'adult' and accept it'. Same as she pledged to make Holyrood all about 'consensus' but really meant 'I'll blunder about and make an arse of quite a lot of things and you've not to query it because 'consensus' means 'fall in behind me no matter what'.

  24. What we are seeing is exactly what you would expect to happen with our targeted vaccination program. The levels of spread between under 40's wasn't going to slow much compared too previously under level 1/2. An increase in cases was inevitable under the current restrictions. But guess what, we chose to protect the most vulnerable first and as a result we are seeing very few hospital admissions or death. This has been a massive success.

  26. Problem is, I can't see it being moved on from that easily. There will be a section of the crowd who will likely decide the right response to him being back at Stark's is to boo him. Yeah, I fear you're right. As you can already see there'll be people who are booing him "because he's a diver" but the optics (acoustics?) of that really aren't great. Best thing to do is absolutely to just ignore him entirely and hope he has a quiet game!

  27. DRoss at FMQs today asked a three of four pronged question and his final part was 'Will the FM accept that at some point, we will have to simply move forward and learn to live with this virus?' The answer she fired back with included this statement but it seems to have been largely glossed over as the first parts of the answer she gave, picked up on things that were more of interest such as the denial of a 10 week period, cancer treatment backlogs and 'greater levels of normality beyond zero'. I think to be more precise, her wording was that she wasn't a fan of terminology such as 'learning to live with the virus' as that comes off as dismissive of the situation to families who lost loved ones. It's honestly fucking warped the levels of eggshells these people will avoid treading on instead of just speaking plainly, concisely and treating people like adults.

  28. It is with great sadness that I inform you that P+B semi-regular madwullie (Woody in real life) died yesterday at the age of 44, after a long battle with cancer. I'm sure a few of you are thinking "who?", and whilst not the most prolific of posters, he did enjoy sticking his oar in on the politics forum, as well as forays into the FIFA, parenting, chess and quiz thread. IRL, Woody was one of the warmest, soundest, cleverest and funniest people you could ever hope to meet. Woody leaves behind a wife and two sons, and we all miss him dearly. Edit: For those just reading this, so many of you have been so generous already, but in case anyone out there wants to donate to Mr + Mrs madwullie's chosen charity, here's a link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/woody-willowfoundation ... thank you.

  29. Hopefully it is Grainger as seems to be gaining a good reputation. Most people on here seem to disagree with almost every opinion but I don’t believe for a second that people don’t care. The reason everyone is so passionate about us getting ourselves sorted out is because they do. I think Sheerin & Grainger (if it’s him) will get us kicking on on the park. Off it, who knows but at least if the on the pitch stuff is going well it’s a start & we can get back to enjoying a Saturday & not just the pre match stuff with our mates which is the best part of match day for the last few years.

  31. Never in my life did I think fans would be in tears because we haven’t released interviews with Calum’s dull voice being heard throughout it. Have you never considered that Hopkin doesn’t want to discuss in length what his plans are for pre season? I don’t see what more information you’d want to hear from the manager besides what’s been written in the AP.

  33. I'm buckled at the idea of Anne Budge and Neilson spending weeks sitting about, coming up with convoluted transfer schemes involving Jordan Roberts, Craig Halkett and Allan Campbell, bringing in a shady outside investor to pay the compensation fee, trying to claw together an extra few quid a week to tempt Campbell only for Luton to swan in and treble their offer.

  34. Who's laughing? The fishing and agriculture sector is absolutely fucked. For all the schadenfreude of point and laugh at the Tory/Brexit supporting morons like Jimmy Buchan and the land owning Barbour set, that's rural areas and local folk right in the shit. Normal folk suffer more, in terms of direct job losses and knock on multipliers. Alaistair Jack has a fucking cheek claiming it's a great deal. We all knew they would be fucked over and so it has come to pass. It's proper Stockholm syndrome if folk directly affected by policy supported by those they chose to vote for, despite the warnings and will continue to vote for them again and again. Not funny ha ha. Sad and incredible more like.

  37. You do realise the point of football forums like these are? Whether any agrees or disagrees with how well recruitment has gone so far, the whole point is to discuss it, otherwise we’d still be on page 1. The main problem and gripe people like myself have, is we were warned this was how it was going to go. It’s how he’s recruited since leaving Livi and it’s not ended well at either club he’s managed it. It’s now appears to be how things are going here. I may well be (and hope so) wrong, but the signs are there.

  43. Q&A format a complete joke. The opposite of how a transparent club would do things, with an added touch of throwing softie superfan Lewis under the bus. They'll be getting an email from me today, as that's really the only thing I can do. Is liam@falkirkfc.co.uk the best email address to use? Seems to be a few floating around on the club website.

  45. **Fantasy Golf Week 24** Higgo in the middle How good is Garrick Higgo ? Pretty good tbf. A first PGA title, his 3rd win in 7 weeks lifts him to 39th in the OWGR. A potential superstar in the making. Weird name mind, but could I think of any puns ? No, but he looks like the guy from Malcolm In The Middle, so I'll leave you with that. Slim pickings points wise this week, only a handful scored on the PGA and none in what was an extremely low-key Euro event, so just an overall table this week. Overall Standings 1046 @die hard doonhamer 972 @Tartan Dave 962 @alta-pete 950 @Ro Sham Bo 945 @lichtie23 931 @J_Stewart 880 @Avon Barksdale 863 @Mr Kane and the lemon cafe 851 @peasy23 829 @Honest_Man#1 738 @Distant Doonhamer Back to La Jolla we go for the 2021 US Open. Double points on offer at the 3rd major championship of the year. We were here earlier in the year, Paddy Reed helping himself to a preferred lie on his way to lifting the Farmers. Classical American design here, which is to be admired, but imo it's a bit of a slog which doesn't make full use of it's incredible surrounds. Pretty good for a public course mind. It will obviously play tougher this week, with 8 inch rough, conditions similar to Winged Foot last year, which may suit defending champion Bryson DeChambeau, although he heads here in average form and embroiled in his ongoing feud with 2 time winner Brooks Koepka. Previous course winner John Rahm is clear favourite after shooting a 64 at Muirfield Village whilst stuffed with the Covid. An intriguing week awaits in San Diego.
