  1. Hello everyone, Mrs Madwullie here. You all have more words than me right now and it's been a pleasure to read how highly he was respected on here. God knows every single time he took a crap he was was on this forum, glad to know this was time well spent. Although maybe I should post this infuriating behaviour on another thread That brutal honesty was just how we rolled tbf. We are lost without him.

  2. Oh, I don't know, maybe because they are sick and tired of being treated like complete and utter morons by those who own and run this club. Tired of financially supporting a business who actively hate them. Tired of their club being turned into the laughing stock of Scottish football. Tired of the incompetence. Tired of the contempt. Tired of the waste. Tired of the lies. Tired of being libelled a racist. Tired of the spin. Tired of the marketing bullshit. Tired of the latest "strategy", "review", "rigorous process", 2/3/5/10/50/100 year plan These good enough reasons for you to be going on with? Not everyone can be a good, little uberfan lapdog like you. Thankfully.

  3. Don't know that much about his role but I always though the commercial side of the club was the only part that actually worked and there was sponsorship all over the stadium etc. Good luck to him and I hope it's for professional reasons rather than his health etc.

  4. Its an absolute minter refusing to do this. If it riles you up, good. If you think its a meaningless gesture, then why is not doing it any better?

  6. So posted about Baseball stadia and theme parks opening up. Thats TV shows in the US like Jimmy Fallon having full studio audiences (ive visited the set and its a big audience in a small space) and broadway theatres gearing up for a full return after recasts and rehearsals. Entertainment and life almost back fully to normal, but here we are with Scotlands Government and its advisor Jason Leitch etc acting as if we’re lucky hes allowing people to be hen pecked at a fan zone whilst the media whips up the furore from all the facebook maws that somehow their kids cant graduate from nursery because the fan zone is happening like thats a decision made by the football fans. We’re getting a wee pat on the head and vague promises if we are really good we might be allowed to get to a game at some point next season or something. But if anyone dares sing 500 miles then its all off and Jason will shut it all down. Its a fucking disgrace. Add to this that the Scottish government is looking to extend emergency powers beyond the time that everyone is even expected to have a double dose of the vaccination. Hospital numbers albeit having risen are still not putting a strain on the NHS and deaths are incredibly small in number with the vaccines created by absolute heroes completely knocking the virus out the park. This is now a massive overreach by the government and id argue a breach of echr, particularly as scientific evidence shows the link between the vaccines and smoking the virus and the fact these rules were implemented we were told ‘to protect the nhs’. The grounds to have this are absolutely shakey and the government really has to stop being wishy washy and non committal about when this is going to stop.

  7. As a supporter of Workington afc has Danny Grainger been confirmed yet?, if so you will be gaining an excellent coach who has transformed a relegated club with no direction to an entertaining successful team. Both seasons would have seen the team promoted but for covid ,loves to play from the back, good communicator with players and fans and cant thank him enough for the last 2 years. I expect you'll gain a few fans who like a good trip out. Good luck next season

  9. Yes but what you're asking here is for Scottish lower league football fans to be reasonable and show patience and restraint, and let me tell you now, we will absolutely refuse.

  10. There's a very insidious conflation between paid employment and 'working hard', as if paid employment is the only way someone can 'work hard' and that disliking it makes you 'lazy/bone idle'. If I could afford it I'd never do paid employment ever again. I'd instantly quit and never do a single second again. To some that would make me lazy. My current job involves sitting on my arse and doing spreadsheets, emails and Teams (other admin shit too). In what possible way is that 'working hard'? If I didn't have to work there is absolutely no way I'd be sitting in the one place in front of a screen for 7 hours. I'd actually be doing shit and be 'working' much 'harder' than I ever have done in paid employment, be that by fucking off on long walks/hikes, making things, doing a hobby or pretty much anything else.

  12. Very much so. It wasn’t a Clyde game without seeing Davie watching the game. I’d only had a few brief interactions with him but my brother knew him quite well. I found him a welcoming and warm guy who absolutely loved and lived Clyde. Hopefully the likes of Davie, Craig, and all of the others we’ve sadly lost during the pandemic get an appropriate send off once we’re back. Rest in Peace, Davie.

  13. So, as things stand: We have a Sporting Director who doesn’t seem to cut the mustard An untried head coach A squad of only 14 signed players (jobbers) Promised additional investment for the club from Rawlins (£200k?) not been delivered £600k of additional investment declined A Club Ambassador has left the club A successful Commercial Director has resigned Promised transparency of club affairs not happening. . . . . . . . . #ItsBeingSoCheerfulThatKeepsMeGoing

  14. The Dutch allowing full capacity from July at football. Negative PCR test or vaccine required but better than a country crying about 3000 people in a fanzone.

  15. I mean it technically is - we offered him a contract in late December/early January and he's been humming and hawwing over it for six months. He's maybe not nearly as in demand as he and his agent seem to think he would be?

  22. If someone is booing it because they think it’s an empty gesture they are incredibly fucking stupid. The response of someone who “thinks it’s an empty gesture” should be to stand there silently and do nothing. If you’re booing it you’re not just being hostile as to its efficacy. You’re being hostile to the thing itself. Which probably means you’re either a racist or a walloper enabling the racists. “Racists should be made to feel uncomfortable” is a desirable end in itself. If someone taking a knee makes you feel uncomfortable you should probably think very carefully why that is, given just how many other empty gestures by footballers on football pitches don’t seem to have the same effect.

  23. Terrible news. He was posting just last week on the "infuriating things your partner does" and was taking a good ribbing for sending his missus to weight watchers or somesuch. It seems that he used this forum to carry on with a sense of normality even although he was suffering grievously. A good reminder that any one of us can be going through the worst of life unbeknownst to the wider P and B community. He seemed like a well loved man and my heart goes out to his wee boys, mrs Madwullie and Cardinal Richielieu.

  24. I actually quite liked Leitch at the very start of this. I heard him a couple of times on the radio as a guest on the breakfast news before he was wallpaper on the telly and all over the place, and his down to earth and "normal" speak appealed to me at a time when no fucker really knew what was happening - he explained it quite well. In my view he's absolutely transformed from someone who seemed down to earth and came over well, to an egotistical, patronising, power and celeb status hungry worst c**t, who I now would not piss on if he was on fire. He's definitely looking to keep his profile up as long as possible and milk this for all he can get. I await the announcement of his biography, probably titled something like " The People's Professor - How I Singlehandedly Guided Scotland Through COVID".

  26. Airdrie are a bigger club than Dumbarton. Obviously Dumbarton have been far better than us for most of the last decade and that success is something we need to aim for, but looking at the two clubs at the moment it doesn’t suddenly make Dumbarton a bigger team. There’s not a huge amount in it, in this league most clubs are on a similar sort of level, but I think most people would still say Airdrie are a bigger club. If Paton thinks Dumbarton is the right move for him then fair play, can’t argue with that. There probably isn’t a huge amount in it financially and it sounds like the location suits him too, which rightly counts for a lot at this level. I think most Airdrie fans are well aware of the situation we’re in, we’ve been in League One for a long time and are nowhere near the sort of club Airdrie were even 15 years ago. As others have said, the manager has publicly talked about going for promotion this season, something he hasn’t really done previously. While I quite like the look of some of Dumbarton’s signings and Farrell seems much more ambitious than Duffy was, I certainly don’t think they’ll be aiming for that. There’s a difference between saying that and having a Falkirk style crowdwank as if we have a right to beat teams at this level, which after the last decade we’re all well aware we don’t have.

  27. I think it helps when you have the opinion of the likes of Cole, Mugabi, Seedorf and Dunne to explain their experiences and that they think taking a knee has lost it's meaning to an extent. Scotland just went "we're not taking the knee" with pretty much zero explanation.

  28. It is with great sadness that I inform you that P+B semi-regular madwullie (Woody in real life) died yesterday at the age of 44, after a long battle with cancer. I'm sure a few of you are thinking "who?", and whilst not the most prolific of posters, he did enjoy sticking his oar in on the politics forum, as well as forays into the FIFA, parenting, chess and quiz thread. IRL, Woody was one of the warmest, soundest, cleverest and funniest people you could ever hope to meet. Woody leaves behind a wife and two sons, and we all miss him dearly. Edit: For those just reading this, so many of you have been so generous already, but in case anyone out there wants to donate to Mr + Mrs madwullie's chosen charity, here's a link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/woody-willowfoundation ... thank you.

  29. I am a nurse who unfortunately has to work a lot of weekends. I have been going to games when I can since 1962. I have bought a season ticket for many years but last year I didn't due to COVID did also getting fed up with the lack of spirit shown in the navy blue. I remember bad times when we were in the second division and the Shire were big rivals but even then you got the feeling that the team tried to give us a decent product. Last season put me right off particularly the end when basically the team could not give a damn about the team I love. Does not buying a season ticket which may allow me the pleasure ( sic ) of watching two teams run around an empty stadium make me not a real fan? If that's the case I have been a phoney for 59 years and did not know it!

  37. This. I had an argument with my son who was adamant I should be taking a lft before the game on Monday as requested. He was told in no uncertain terms that there is absolutely no way I was going to take a test that might prevent me doing something I had been waiting to do for 23 years. f**k THAT !

  39. What have the Rawlins actually done so far apart from their original investment and knocking back 600k ? They haven't increased their investment although we were told that was basically a done deal. We're still signing the same level of players we had previously really. Our new manager isn't anyone we couldn't have appointed before they arrived. At the moment there's no strip to buy and no season tickets available. What the feck are they actually doing that's going to take the club to a new level because to me so far they've done hee haw .

  40. Its easy to claim he got the numbers wrong and make his apologies on that basis, but thats a total strawman. Its what he was using the numbers to infer and on that basis, the accuracy of the numbers doesnt actually matter. He was claiming peoples actions, which were allowed under the restrictions, were directly putting their own and other peoples lives at risk. Totally irrelevant whether the actual number is 20 and he said 40. The issue is his scaremongering hyperbole. p***k.

  43. I think it is now vitally important that the fans forum is held as soon as possible. Too many people working themselves up into a strop without really knowing what’s going on. GD needs to start communicating to the fans and start answering questions.
