  1. Not being dramatic but this club make me forget about all the shite in my life. For 90 minutes every week I forget about everything else. I couldn't love you more. Best wee club in the world.

  2. Funny how Tories have been telling us that Boris Johnson, Margaret Thatcher & Theresa May all had a mandate to push through their policies when by using your same method of (including Non voters) this is what they achieved 1979: Thatcher 33.3% 1983: Thatcher 31.17% (got a landslide off this) 1987: Thatcher 31.78% (another Tory landslide which led to her imposing poll tax on Scotland as guinea pig trial) 2015: David Cameron 24% forced through Brexit referendum (even with the UKIP party they had 32.82%) 2017: Theresa May 29.18%9even after bribing DUP for a £Billion) only just over 30%. UK press/Tories said mandate for Tory Brexit 2019: BoJo 29.36% and even with Brexit party added 30.7% (Unionists/Tories said he had mandate for oven ready Brexit deal) The fact remains that Scotland just had a democratic election where the Greens/SNP stood on Pro Indy platform the other 3 main UK unionist parties stood firmly against it and guess what we returned an even bigger Pro Indy Parliament than ever before. Pro Indy majority now 15. That is based on a much fairer voting system. If we had first past post the post system as in Westminster the Pro Indy majority would have been 51 and that is on only 73 seats. That would equate to a 250 plus majority in Westminster.

  3. Absolutely spot on! I was previously completely taken in by George's apparent determination for fairness pertaining to the Lowland. Last season he spoke of the underhand tactics of the SPFL regarding trying to get Brechin into the Lowland League - and how they were being threatened by the SPFL and faced possible sanctions. He appeared to be a man of principle. Yet listen to his interview on the Lowland Podcast. At around 7 mins 20 mins secs, he is asked what would happen beyond the first year of the OF colts being in the Lowland and he responds 'that is down to Rangers and Celtic' then follows up with 'we have only committed to one year'. Yet he later in the interview alludes to it just being a one year deal.......if that is the case, and it is purely a one year deal, why say earlier that it is up to Rangers and Celtic what happens beyond that. It's so disingenuous. In fact it stinks to high heaven! If the Old Firm hadn't proposed this, and say instead, Annan and Edinburgh City had contacted him to say that their young boys hadn't played in a year or so either, and needed to join a league for a year, but had no funds to pay an entry fee, there would be absolutely no discussion to be had. He would be preaching about the league can only be a maximum of 16 clubs, as previously reported. He is an absolute sell out. Had he just been honest, and said - 'our member clubs are really struggling financially so for a one year deal only we are going to accept a £3k pay off per club' (£50k payment by the OF divided by the member clubs) then.....you might not agree with it, but you'd appreciate the honesty. But instead it's the underhandedness of it all. And quite frankly he should have been held to far greater account than he was during this interview by the one or two fanboys - one of whom in particular I have always had the greatest respect for. To be clear, I'm not as fundamentally opposed as others to OF Colts......but if it has to happen, then in the name of fairness and so called 'sporting integrity' then they absolutely have to start at the bottom of the rung and work their way up. Besides, it's equal Conferences at the moment beyond the West Premier so would presumably take fewer years to achieve. I actually can't put into words just how let down I feel by George Fraser.....a man I have always greatly championed until now. Again.....for the hard of thinking.......this has nothing to do with the two clubs in question......it's the fact that any club should be parachuted in above all others purely because they can pay a premium..........and then George Fraser having the sheer audacity to comment that it's purely because 'their kids haven't played in a while'...........whereas presumably all other clubs in Scotland have had the luxury of playing their youngsters on a weekly basis! Where to even begin with this???

  4. Folk calling for Goodwins head can get in the fuckin sea. Yes he's made mistakes. He made some today. But at the start of the season I'm pretty sure most saints fans would've taken comfortably avoiding relegation and two semi final appearances. We're on the right track. Well done St Johnstone - good luck in the final.

  5. People who oppose another referendum oppose democracy and are no better than the cretins in America who were chanting "Stop the count!" It's also incredibly short sighted to be so against democracy on a single issue. Thin end of the wedge and all that. Will the democracy deniers be so desperate to stop democracy when it's something they don't oppose that is being denied? Unionists should try and put their case for 'No' forward, not try to stop a referendum that has a clear mandate to go ahead. Hypocrites, cowards and general arseholes to a man and woman (those who oppose a referendum that is).

  6. No matter who we appoint there will still be fans unhappy, especially since some fans think managers of clubs doing better than us would leave for the privilege of managing Falkirk. Also, can’t wait for the same idiots who don’t like the appointment from the start and say the usual “hate to say I told you so” when it doesn’t work out. There’s a good few on here that enjoy that as if they’re knowledge of football is better than everyone else’s

  8. Two things made Britain "great"; the industrial working class and colonialism. Both were discarded by the ruling class as soon as they were non longer profitable. The tragedy of British politics is that the English still cling to a fantasy of power and riches, while the rest of the developed world has quietly passed them by. That's why I'm 46 years old and the only Labour prime minister the UK has elected in my whole life is Tony Blair, yet in that time I've watched countries like Ireland and Finland come screeching past us. Tories aren't good for the economy, they're only good for rich people. Identity would never have been enough on its own to break the union. What broke the union is England's determination to elect kleptocratic inhumane b*****ds.

  10. On existing reserve sides. They're a little bit of a historical anomaly. They were all in separate leagues from their 'big' team when those leagues were integrated into the pyramid. As far as I know, no new reserve or youth teams have been allowed in since the pyramid has been created. I'm not in favour of reserve or youth teams in the league system at all. One club, one team should be the principle. But they're a little bit like the SoSFL at tier 6. Nobody would design it that way but it's a quirk of the system as it was put together. On the George Fraser point and whether he's given an easy ride or not, I haven't listened to the latest catchup but plan to. From the POV of an interested outsider, George Fraser seems to have done an excellent job up until this point. As much as anyone, he seems to have been the driving force behind the creation and integration of the pyramid and he'd obviously done great work at BSC. It's natural that LL supporters, not just if BSC, have a high opinion of the guy and are probably willing to 'side' with him to a greater extent than SPFL or ex-junior supporters on this, who've probably already suspected there's a bit of hypocrisy going around regarding promotion/relegation during the curtailed season and are getting a bit tired of the "we're the good guys and the SPFL are the bad guys" schtick. So I'd suspect supporters of this idea or those who're neutral fall into one of three camps - 1) OF fans with a 'wee' team who see it as good for the OF and therefore support it, 2) those who do have concerns about it but are essentially 'siding' with Fraser and the LL, as they see it, 3) those who genuinely buy the BS about the benefits of this and are popping a wee stauner about their club playing school boy teams wearing OF kits. As for SPFL fans or those fans of teams below the LL, of course it's valid for them to have and voice opinions. Because it could directly affect them in the future. But it's also pretty stupid to think the LL shouldn't be listening to those opinions. There seems to be this idea that introducing colts will lead to an increased possibility of promotion/relegation between tiers 5 and 4. If the SPFL clubs and their fans are almost unanimously against this proposal then that is down the pan. We've spent years fending off this shite and clubs will not be happy about potentially dropping down into a league who dropped their knickers for the OF at the first sign of attention. The LL has generally held a very good reputation amongst SPFL supporters as a league body. Trashing that for a few grand seems like a monumentally stupid thing to do.

  11. They're all at the bottom tier of the pyramid. Your pal George (who you gave the world's easiest ride to on the podcast) wants them to enter at Tier 5, leapfrogging every single club in Tiers 6 and 7 of the pyramid.

  15. Eyemouth United FC 1945-2021 Eyemouth United have resigned and ceased operating as a senior club. They will continue to run youth teams and support a new entry forming in the Border Amateur League. Founded in 1945 they spent their entire 75 years in membership of the East of Scotland League. They won the competition for 3 seasons running in the 1950s, then again half a century ago this year in 1970-71. They were the longest-standing continuous member of the league after Coldstream. It is a sad irony they came into being after a world war - they were apparently formed by returning servicemen - and have gone out towards the end of a national emergency, although the writing has been on the wall for some time. They last won a game 3 years ago yesterday at Tweedmouth. Undoubtedly their finest hour came in the Scottish Cup of 1959-60 when they reached the Quarter-Finals, and only went down 2-1 at home to Kilmarnock. Over the decades they played many famous cup-ties before thousands at Playing Fields Park including v Celtic in 1953. They also visited Parkhead in 1964, but it proved their last tie in the competition. Eventually losing their ground and with it SFA membership they ultimately played from the famously exposed Gunsgreen Park aka Warner Park. Atop sea cliffs south of the harbour, it was a formidable venue in a gale. Apparently striker William Burgess was also the first black player to represent a Scotland team in modern times. He played all 3 games in the Home Nations 1962-63 for Scotland Amateurs: scoring a brace v England at Hampden and another in Wrexham. They also have the possibly unique accolade of twice having finished seasons with fewer points than they started... managing 2 draws in 2004-05 they sufferred a deduction for breach of rules to finish on -1pt, then outdid themselves in 2018-19 finishing on -3pts. Over the years they won all the long standing cup tournaments... South Qualifying Cup, EOS Cup, EOS Qualifying Cup, King Cup and the last-ever Border Cup. They also won the inaugural but short-lived South Supplementary Cup in 1954-55. However they never secured the League Cup or Alex Jack Cup since the EOS was reorganised for 1987-88. Indeed they only managed 2 seasons in the Premier Division during the late 1980s. Probably their last big achievement was reaching the Alex Jack Cup Final in 2015-16, where they lost to Leith... In recent times they have not had their troubles to seek. In season 2018-19 they lost all 24 games with an average scoreline of 1-7. They then decided to sit out last season. They came back this season but had lost all 10 matches with the same average scoreline of 1-7 when football at this level was suspended and the season ultimately null-&-void. They join a depressing list of recent Border club demises... Kelso United, Duns, Selkirk and now Eyemouth United. Coldstream are now the only senior club in Berwickshire. Sad times. Their last-ever game was lost 0-5 at home v Lochore Welfare on Saturday 19th December 2020. With that The Fishermen - quite literally - took in their nets for the final time.

  18. Just read over your most recent posts. You are very much defending the LL here. Yes the current teams will decide but I'm asking you to look at the bigger picture. What if the other 7 SPL South based teams want a bit of this cake, where would you stop? A 20+ LL? Theyd get more respect in the lowest tier and working their way up. It's pure greed and arrogance by the LL for even contemplating it.

  27. Aye, hopefully it's something broad ranging that allows everyone to buy/contribute/take up deferment as they see fit to suit their current circumstances. I'm fortunate enough to be in the position to pay the full price again this season, which I will happily do to help the club in a small way in these uncertain times as no one could ever have forseen a full season lock out. As I said the last time this conversation arose though, I would fully urge anyone whose circumstances have changed, or for whom money is a concern to not have a single thought about accepting the deferred tickets and get their arses along. You paid for a product in good faith and are rightfully due it. For anyone caught in the middle, take the deferred ticket and make a small donation if you can, or maybe sign up for the basic society membership. Every penny counts, but only if you can afford it. The suggestions around deferred tickets which are not uptaken by folk choosing to pay again being used to help people affected by the pandemic are also great shouts. Mental health and social issues are a huge concern in the area, so if there is something the club can do in this regard, a couple of hours release and escapism on a Saturday that some may otherwise be unable to afford could be a massive help. No matter your position or which option people choose, I just cannae wait to get my arse back to my wee seat in the Cooper. Being disappointed watching us get pumped on a shitey stream in the living room will never match actually being there to endure it with another few thousand unfortunate souls.

  28. This right here is why nobody voted Alba. Pushing the "vote SNP get unionists" narrative just alienates people. Alba supporters have consistently trashed the SNP and the Greens, not bothering much with the Tories and Labour. Add to this, their offer to the public was just some electoral maths, fronted by a discredited leader and surrounded by people wielding their pet grievances. The energy of Alba supporters was spent attacking Nicola Sturgeon and agonising over Trans rights. Honestly, is it any wonder they did so poorly? Let me finish with one thing. My parents went both votes SNP. Not because they are desperate for indyref 2, not because they sat and worked out the best mathematical way to get a Yes majority. But because they were impressed with Nicola Sturgeon during the pandemic. As a pair of older voters they thought she did well, and so voted for her. How would you ever hope to persuade folk like my parents to vote for a party that is pretty toxic?

  30. Absolutely not, shouting and screaming would serve no purpose whatsoever, but a bit more constructive criticism wouldn't have gone amiss. Multiple times George referenced this being a one year deal only.....which in itself makes you wonder so what's the point. So why when he was asked what comes next after the end of the year and his response of 'that's up to Rangers and Celtic' did no-one see fit to question this staggering contradiction. Why is it up to them if it's only a one time deal. Why not press more on the infamous16 team limit of the Lowland League? (a limit I happen to agree with) Interesting that you (quite correctly) state that any Edinburgh City development side should be directed to the EOS. By that rationale I'm somewhat confused as to why you are not advocating that any Old Firm development side wouldn't therefore be directed to the WOS. Perhaps if they were if could be filed quite nice nicely under a) a point of principle, b) keeping in line with the pyramid, and maybe even c) sporting integrity. Heaven forbid - what an outlandish thought. You also responded to another poster that everyone on here things you are pro this idea. I at no point have stated this, however you have stated that you are on the fence about it. Why? Why can't you respect the pyramid like all the other clubs. The Old Firm are hiding under the notion that everything is ok because they can't be promoted or relegated. That's completely irrelevant! They absolutely shouldn't be parachuted for one (or potentially more - as according to George it's apparently up to them) season as it's completely unethical. As an aside, if they can jump above other leagues just so their boys can get some games in.....maybe Clyde could enter a reserve or Colt side in the Scottish Premier League. Don't worry, they can't win the league or be relegated.......its all about getting the boys some games as apparently that's what's being lost in all of this, so says George. Beggars belief that anyone is ok with is.......or even 'on the fence'. Morals? Principles? Fairness? Heck who needs those eh? We already know the SPFL aspires to none of those......sadly it appears to have trickled down. Take a bow Civil Service Strollers. Finally, if this truly is about the boys getting some games as they've missed out, as George asserts, then riddle me this - why can't they play in the WOS Conference for a season, or better yet, get together with the other SPL sides and get a boys league for a season. Wouldn't that have been a good question to have asked.
