  2. This is the one and only time I'm going to say this, but it's a shame Rab isn't present at the moment. Watching him tie himself in knots desperately trying to defend the club that he loved since they became successful would have been genuinely hilarious viewing.

  3. The ego has landed. Anyway, cheers for all the nice comments lads, I won't go through them all to avoid filling the thread up, but they are appreciated. Before this season I had never commentated on a game in my life. Chris had done bits and bobs, and we'd presented a few things at Uni together, but this was totally new to us. Thankfully it seems to have worked pretty well, but it's always reassuring to know that it isn't just folk I know being nice to my face! I looked at my phone at half-time and I had 37 notifications, so I assumed I'd said something wrong and was getting torn into. It was literally all Thistle fans saying positive things about the commentary, which really does mean a lot to both me and Chris. We know more Thistle fans than supporters of any other club in the division, so we were talking about the pressure of not making an arse of things a bit before the game. Glad we avoided that - and you guys enjoyed the stream. On the game front? The first-half was pretty even, Thistle totally bossed the second and should've been out of sight before they finally scored. I think that's the roughest time I've seen any side give our defence - especially Morgyn Neill and Ryan McGeever. Rudden especially was absolutely outstanding. He looks like the complete forward and if we had someone like him in our team then we wouldn't be sitting ninth in the league. For us? Meh. We did a wee bit of attacking, we battled hard but were beaten by the better team. Anything tonight would be a bonus, but we've now got an enormous four games ahead. My stomach is already churning at the thought of the Clyde game next weekend.

  4. The Highland League is great fun. Frostbite in Fraserburgh in August, meeting the locals at Clach, explaining to people in Buckie what teeth are, trying to understand what the f**k a Wick is. You're going to love it.

  7. A short summary of all those clubs Queen's Park - A load of 19th century toffs. All fans wear top hats. They used to refuse to pay players as it was ‘common’. Edinburgh City - Moving back to Meadowbank though, probably a better away day than Ainslie Park. Stirling Albion - Beat Rangers even though their manager was on a lads weekend at the time. Very funny. Stranraer - Wreck salvaging Rangers fans. You can watch their games through a fence. Elgin City - Once you are playing for Elgin you know it's one step above doing keepie-uppie in your back garden. Stenhousemuir - Hipster central. Support them and you immediately get your own BBC Scotland show. Albion Rovers - Their ground is old school in the sense of an old school that was in the path of Hurricane Katrina and was abandoned afterwards. Annan Athletic - My team beat them 8-1 many years ago and one of our worst ever players got subbed for taking the piss out of them. They are much better now, I believe. Cowdenbeath - If the footballs shit, stay for the stock car racing. Partick Thistle - Scary mascot, student fans, good away day, lots of pubs, West End, pish team for last few years. We didn't start the fire. Falkirk - Extremely mad but good value fans on here. Specialise in losing cup finals. Cove Rangers - Moneybag Dorics shaking up the seaside leagues. Airdrieonians - Scottish Millwall. All their fans are members of National Action. Montrose - Entirely supported by hardy fishermen. East Fife - Big in the 1950s, now have one stand that used to have a good view of a power plant. Peterhead - Heroin and herring. Clyde - Their fans on here are the biggest load of headcases. Several of them will kill you if you step out of line. Dumbarton – If you like massive rocks then you’ll love it. Forfar Athletic - Bridies. That's it.

  8. Today the Alba party produced a manifesto. I said several pages ago that they weren't in this for a supermajority working hand in hand with the SNP and the Greens, and this confirms it. What they want is to "instruct" the Scottish Government to begin the process of Indyref 2 in week 1 of the new parliament. Forget diplomacy and negotiation, Salmond wants a high publicity fight with the other Yes parties. He's more interested in taking out his ex-colleagues than he is about independence. Like Trump going after disloyal republicans in the US. Want a proper Indyref 2? Go SNP/Green. Want a civil war within the new Yes movement? Vote Alba.

  13. There seems to be a bit of confusion from other clubs’ fans on this thread; - yes we know we are shite. - yes we know we are in League One and staying here. - yes we deserve it.

  14. I also think there is a strange obsession with ‘ambition’ in this country. If someone is happy just doing their current job because they like it, and aren’t desperate to climb the ladder to get as much money and power as possible, they are looked upon as one of life’s losers who lack any ‘ambition’ by people above them. They’re often ostracised/made fun of for not wanting to move up into management roles despite them knowing it wouldn’t suit their skillset, and would undoubtedly make them miserable as they wouldn’t enjoy the role.

  15. Just dropping in to say that young Nick McAllister has been excellent for us since joining on loan. He's played right back, centre back and centre midfield and last night picked up I think his second MOTM award. He's performed well in every position but seems to have cemented his place in midfield now, tough tackling and always looks to play a pass. I thought he was excellent at right back too, bombed forward whenever he could. Clearly a player with a good footballing brain and I think most Sons fans wouldn't mind seeing him return next season, if he were available.

  16. My own mother is as twee as f**k and when talking to young kids she can't say the word "Super" without following it up with duper. She did it throughout my childhood, and that of my kids, to the point where I now can't hear anything else. The last couple of days have been tough.

  17. I can’t think of a single thing that I like about the club just now. I hate the board. I hate Miller and McCracken. I hate the players. I hate Falkirk TV. I hate the awful fan pictures in the South Stand. I hate the astro. This list is not exhaustive.

  24. What is happening at Falkirk really is tragic. I've spend many away days at the old brockville where there was a real and healthy rivalry between thistle and Falkirk. A great town that deserves better from its club. Saddened to read so many fans on here recording their disconnect with the club. Been there. My club, until a few weeks ago had, and still has a huge disconnect with the BOD, not all but many, especially posters on here. They are a complete clusterfuck. Until 2 weeks ago it seemed McCall was out of his depth, still a way to go but he is turning the tanker round, he's been given time so I have to acknowledge the BOD for that. I'm not saying persevere with m and m, but just thinking your next appointment, and I know this is obvious, will be the most important in your clubs history. Get it wrong and as a few on here have said part time football will be inevitable. Still possible to get success but probably slower. I liked the suggestion of exploring the ground and land purchase and an academy is a must. It's costly but there are many financial revenue streams can be accessed and can generate income as a lot of parents are only too happy to pay for their kids to be linked to a club at the 5 to 9 years. From the outside there needs a board clear out but there has to be a viable alternative person or body to drive that. As for a manager, where the club is now there has to be solidity, minimise the risk, don't go for untested, as McCall said of martindale, well done for the past few months but as a manager you need 4 plus years consistency to prove yourself. I'm not a huge McCall fan but at present has turned around our fortunes and that's not a fluke given where we have been. I was for giving him his p45 but seem to have got that horribly wrong. Point is, it seems like experience is needed short to medium term. A McIntyre type, a pressly, (I expect to be slaughtered for that one), a petrie, someone proven over a long term that can identify the problems and bring in players who will be the solution with a long term strategy to, and this is obvious, make the team hard to beat with a fight like f**k spirit then introduce the flair. At the level you need players with balls of steel, snotters and spit, studs up win the fight then play the football. It's quite an easy game, don't let the other team score, when you get the ball keep it, when they get the ball fight like f**k to get it back. You need heart back in the club and it's the fans that can do that.

  25. Unfortunately it’s too late. All our momentum is gone, couple that with the state of the squad due to injuries, it’ll be an early play-off exit at best this season. We should have had the league won by now had we a competent person in charge of the team.

  32. Getting this weekend's preview out nice and early, since I just can't contain my excitement! The last of the big head-to-heads between teams fighting for play-off places, and it might just be the biggest one of them all, and perhaps even a play-off semi-final preview in itself. After last night's debacle, Dundee need to get their wits back together and prepare for their final home game of the league season, against a Raith side suffering some injuries but is still picking up points. Both teams are unbeaten in their last 6 league games, showing that both are tough to beat, though Raith managed to win more of their games, and Dundee have drawn the last three. Already play-off bound, Raith just need a draw to confirm their 2nd place finish over Dundee, whilst a win for the Dark Blues confirms their play-off place without needing assistance from other games, and brings themselves just one point behind Raith going into the final game of the season. They came very close to getting the win on the Rovers' last visit to Dens, but they'll need to show a consistency that was lacking back then, and arguably in their last few games. The stakes are high, which means Dundee will bottle it completely we're in for a high-strung cracker of a game! With Inverness being unable to complete the shock win last night, Dunfermline now have the inside track on 4th and potentially even 3rd if all goes well. Remarkable considering how dead in the water they looked just a few weeks ago. They'll need to ensure points from their last 2 games however if they're to qualify comfortably, and Dick Campbell's Arbroath side is probably not one they'll be overly keen to face. Having demolished Ayr last week, the Lichties are on the war path with the goal to achieve safety for next season still very much in their hands. A Dunfermline win could see them potentially slip into 3rd this Saturday should their Fife rivals dispatch Dundee at Dens. A loss brings them right back into the muck, especially if the fix is on in Gorgie... Now... I'm not one to suspect certain teams of being in cahoots, *wink* but the ties between Hearts and Inverness, particularly this season, are unmissable for most. Hearts, having been anointed as champions (as much as their fanbase seems to resent that fact for some reason), have nothing more to gain this season *wink* and Caley, now on the outside looking in, are desperately needing points in both their last two games, preferably 3 points *wink*. ICT's 7-game unbeaten streak in the league should serve them well *wink* despite a tough outing at Tynecastle *wink*. Nevertheless, they'll need to fight *wink* very hard *wink* to somehow *wink* take all 3 points *wink* from this game, something I think they're verrrry capable of managing.

  33. You're splitting hairs on a single word. We "belong" wherever the league table places us based on results. We are grossly underperforming relative to resources. It is pretty obvious what the original post you quoted meant.

  34. Decent performance and shift from the players. Hopefully we can take that into the play offs, although the schedule is a joke. Well done City. Well done QP on the League win. Once the team settled down after an indifferent start, performance wise, it has never been in doubt. I’m sure Ray McKinnon will be personally satisfied at proving a few doubters wrong.

  35. Cheers mate Going personal here for a minute, but I'm lucky in that I have a full-time job in journalism. Chris is still looking for something, and I really hope this helps to put him in the shop window for any commentary gigs going (BBC bigwigs reading this, PM me). Yes he's my pal, so I'm biased, but he really has a natural talent for it - and the amount of work he puts in blows me away. It's hours of hard work, and most of what he turns up with in his notebook never gets heard on air. I'd love for us to be the stepping stone he needs into working professionally in the industry.

  36. Good to see you're still a seething mess. Fair play to QP, with a shorter season there was always a chance things would stay tight until a bit later down the line. Genuinely gutted for the fans who have missed being there in person.

  38. Well done tonight lads. You guys streets ahead of us and that wasn’t even close to a strongest team from what I gather. Was impressed by a number of players, especially thought young Henderson was exceptional for you tonight. Looks like a bright prospect. Marcus Fraser also looks to have come on to a real game at Saints which is good to see. Probably be a while before we play each other again so best of luck for the rest of the season and hopefully you go a few better in the cup this time.

  41. It's the correct decision and I'm glad they're gone but I'm also still a wee bit seething that it's taken to the stage of being 2 points behind with 4 games to go for it to happen. Fans have been calling for this for weeks.

  42. It’s nice to have fans from other teams congratulations but why take the shine off it with the loadsamoney comments. Football history is littered with clubs who spent big and failed. QPFC Members made their choices to change to professionalism firstly to eliminate any risk of dropping out the SPFL leagues, secondly to win promotion and the cherry on the cake was winning a championship. All three done in the first full season. It’s a spectacular return on investment by any measure. And all the credit must go to everyone and anyone associated with the playing staff and coaches. Apart from the business success though, QP fans deserve this. There’s been turmoil at the club for several years now and it continues off the field. Thankfully the players and coaches did their bit. Some of them haven’t even shared a Saturday afternoon with us and those that did barely had time to get acquainted. The message on the shirts was most welcome. I’m sure we’ll do our bit when we get the chance, as always. ‘Mon The Spiders!

  44. Fuckin yaaaaaaaaaaaaassssss!! The main hard work and quality performances were all done before tonight. That was all about getting the job done no matter how we did it, especially with two of our best players going off first half. Willie Muir proving tonight what a top keeper he is. So happy for everyone and those T shirts were a touch of class. Cannot wait to get back to games next season and get behind these lads

  46. No ! Alex Totten started the revival decades ago. He put his own cash into the club when it went into receivership. Not for profit. Not to get gratitude. He did it because he cares and still does about the club as a fan, player, manager. Not sorry to say this but you are so wrong with your post.
