  1. I’ve got family born and raised in France. Your argument is as xenophobic, inward, and insular as ... well, Brexit. By the way, I’m sure the majority of normal English folk don’t give a flying f**k what Scottish “unionists” think - probably, they view your gang of misfits as more akin to the knuckle-dragging embarrassments currently breaking windows in Northern Ireland than “kith and kin” to themselves. So, you know, it might be worth considering that your blood-and-soil, nineteenth-century ideas of love and loyalty to Mother Britannia aren’t shared by the people whose boots you long to lick.

  5. Daily Cases Update: Astonishing day with cases down over 8% in the last 24 hour recorded period. How can Scotgov possibly not allow better than Level 3 to certain councils when the decision is made in the next week or so. Scottish Borders population about 115,000 with 4 cases. The Islands once again all Covid free. The cities of Edinburgh & Aberdeen with a population of 750,000 !!! have just over 200 cases between them. 8. It’s really quite bizarre and, as far as I know, unprecedented. Baroness Blimp’s branch office, in their campaign literature and TV spots, isn’t just not offering Scotland anything, it’s openly just seeking to deny Scots something. And they don’t pretend they even want to govern; they’re admitting they just don’t want another party to govern, because they’ll try and they give us something the Tory chiefs don’t want us to have. It’s incredible. This isn’t a party; it’s a pressure group based in another nation, seeking purely to deny Scotland what Boris Johnson has told them Scotland is to be denied. All pretty much proves that Tories don’t just not care about Scotland - they actively hold it and its people in active contempt.

  9. "But casting your party vote for the Scottish Conservatives - even if it's just this one time" (it's in bold on the leaflet as well) It's actually saying look we know we're a shower of b*****ds so just give us your SNP BAD vote and you don't have to feel too guilty about the horrible policies we'll enact given any kind of power. Nasty, shameless shower. Patrick Harvie said it best. These people have nothing to offer Scotland.

  15. The main restriction that needs to go right fucking now is the local authority travel restriction - if the country laughably drops into level 3 at the end of this month, then that'll mean six more weeks of nonsense restrictions. Build a wall around Clackmannanshire and West Lothian instead.

  16. Well, this has been an entertaining read. @itzdrk saying he was planning to square go McPake about had me in tears of laughter. I'm pretty sure McPake and Hopkin don't exactly send each other Christmas cards, but I'm not believing for a damn second McPake's standing there pointing and laughing at his former player. Shite news about Sinisalo, aside from Tuesday I'd say he's been one of the better GKs in this league this season. No matter how much squabbling is happening, would rather you boys stay up than Morton lol.

  18. I have done this in the past but it's not without its dangers. I attended a massive meeting where I didn't expect to interact with. I was playing a cracking game of Civilization when I heard the words "Do YOU think it's a good idea, Cardinal Richelieu?" ... normally you could just ask them to repeat it because they cut out slightly, but it was absolutely clear I was being asked for my summary of the entire meeting and I couldn't even begin to bluff my way out of it. My only course of action was to wait 30 seconds then disconnect from the meeting and Teams, then offer up some apology at a later date when my internet came back online.

  25. Cant speak for Sandy, but I’d be very much amused to see a party of self-loathing Scots push for a referendum and arguing that we should cease to exist as a nation state and be adopted as a region of England and Wales. The laughter at them across the world would be deafening (and I somehow doubt would see regionalist uprising as Portuguese folk suddenly see their future as being absorbed by Spain; Danes fight to fold their parliament and become a minor region governed from Oslo; Belgians seek to dissolve their country and merge as a minor part of France). So aye, in the event of Scotland achieving independence, do go ahead and agitate to give it up and return to regional British status (if England and Wales would have us). It’ll be really funny.

  27. Here was me thinking from the past twelve months of government/media hype that EVERYONE IS AT RISK, filled with pictures of sad '30 year olds' being hoisted into an ICU bed with a crane. Now that the public health experts are willing to concede that they've essentially wasted the time of millions of people for a year with no direct protective benefit to their health, I look forward to seeing what policies will be set up to compensate them and how events will be opened up to that category without the need for immediate vaccination. What with the strain on the NHS being so insignificant and all.

  28. People get caught up in trying to be overly respectful and it ends up as patronising. If Davidson wants to get minutes into players, it should be in the Clyde match. The Bully Wee will have played 9 games in 20 days (they still have 4 games to play before they face us) before they arrive at McDiarmid and will be playing again the following Tuesday. They are still in the mix to avoid the bottom spots in League One. Even if you believe this would have been a tricky tie, it's made considerably less so by their schedule. There will be a Clyde players waking up this morning dreading having to play another game tonight and they've got to do that again on Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday before pitching up at Perth against a fit full-time team. I'm not saying throwing Gilmour etc... in but equally, if players (e.g. Wotherspoon, McCann) need a rest, it should be in that match. Strongest team this weekend, rest against Clyde and midweek to Rangers, then back to strongest eleven for the quarter-final.

  31. I’m hearing the guys raising the funds for the Crunchie initiative to re-name the south stand have been struggling to deal with the BOD in getting things moving now the the bulk of the funds have been raised, the club are being very obstructive and are now demanding the funds raised are to be handed over to the club directly and they will directly deal with putting up the signage and arranging an opening game against Hibs themselves. All sounds far to familiar! ....we want your money but don’t dare ask for a say in how we spend/waste it!.....BtB had the exact same issues with the previous board after getting the cash in place for the fans takeover at the time which unfortunately never came to fruition after the club reneged. I’m actually starting to worry that despite new faces in the board room and a new owner in reality nothing has changed. Same people involved behind the scenes treating the fans with utter disregard. This should have been a PR gift for the club, money is fully raised by the fans and all they asked for in return was to have fan involvement in the actual design and look of the new signage to be placed above the bar entrance, on the front of the south stand and also something in the south stand bar with Crunchies name on it. Unbelievably one board member demanded if they wanted to use space in the south stand bar the initiative would have to pay for the advertising space!!! Absolutely unbelievable

  32. I'll take the blame for the pictures on Tuesday night. I left the main camera to a less experienced operator (using an unfamiliar camera) when the light conditions were the trickiest you get at Somerset (setting sun and deep shadow through to darkness and floodlights). That's on me, I should have operated the main camera as I have done most of the season. There's been plenty more than that wrong with our stream offering this season unfortunately. The fact that most lower league clubs have been able to produce quite good services should give the Club, and others, some pause. Putting what content we have behind a paywall looks like a fool's errand unless changes are made.

  33. To be fair, we've all tried to take our mind off football this season. For most of us on this thread it's been Indian cuisine. For those officially involved in the club it's apparently either punting PS5s or becoming conspiracy theorists.

  40. I think there's a culture in Scottish football that's quite bizarre. Half the players of the team you or I support, support one half of the OF and pretty much bow down to them. Some of our best players over the past decade or so are never done speaking about Celtic (or Rangers of old) and that puts a team at a disadvantage straight away. Last time we were in the top flight, our captain, Darren O'Dea spent more time speaking about Celtic than he did us and then Kenny Miller vice versa. Stuff like that spreads onto the pitch IMO. Even if it's subconciously. Too many players give the OF far too much respect. Boils my piss. Not that'd change the title holder - but the likes of Aberdeen should have given Celtic a bigger scare than they have and so should a few other teams over the years.
