  1. Going to be honest here. I am starting to struggle with all this shit. Honestly, speaking to people who are peddling the need for passports, spouting off about variants and wanting to be kept safe, reading these utterly pointless, serves no good purpose articles and headlines, I'm struggling to keep a lid on my anger with it all. Its still at the point where criticism of the response is met with "covid denier" chat, but the clear reality of it is we are so fucking far from "protect the NHS" its unrecognisable. I don't know what we are doing here anymore, but I am starting to worry that normal life isn't coming back.

  2. Maybe being on here 24/7 for months on end isn't good for some people. Good point. I'd thought it might be the deaths, endless restrictions, being unable to see friends or family and lots of people having to worry about their jobs, but it's The Pie and Bovril Football Forum that's the real bad point.

  4. You both make valid points here. As with everything, though, there is a middle ground. I'd like the SG to be committed to getting mass participation events back on the menu ASAP, but they need to be done in a way that is sustainable. The current stance of "we can't have any events because we just don't know" is every bit as unacceptable as "let's test everyone twice a week and have a passport system to go to the football, but not the train to get there" idea. As usual the utterly appalling attitude and lack of desire to relax restrictions of the SG is given a free ride by being compared to whatever batshit mental plan WM comes up with and declared "sensible" We know the vaccine works. Get the fucking finger out, come up with a sensible plan to get our lives back properly (not the level zero nonsense being held up as some sort of utopian existence), and quit bullshitting about variants to push the goalposts further away to buy time. Do the job you are well paid to do instead of hiding behind the words of whatever 'expert' has the most doom and gloom viewpoint at every turn.

  5. All of these are bad ideas which are basically just about being seen to do something, presumably to appeal to people like you with the might as well try something attitude. It's like the folk who suggest you drop the entire first team and chuck the youth team in because "it can't get any worse". The Scottish government have had many flaws here, but I'm not sure that an unwillingness to pander to folk with pointless expensive white elephant schemes is one of them.

  7. I've got to laugh at some saying it's all about self preservation on here. Looking at the EoS Premier theres 18 teams.I think me and Magoo are the only WW posters. We dont speak on behalf of the club. Of the 17 other clubs there is virtually nowt from LTHV,Nitten,HoB,Tynecastle,Crossgates and Inverkeithing. Theres loads of Lithgy fans on here but compared to their large support, its a tiny percentage of that support. Musselburgh and Tranent also have big followings, again only one or two voicing there opinions for their clubs on here. As for the other leagues you'll find it hard to even find a poster supporting a club. The point I'm getting at here is theres a helluva lot more to the EoSFA than a few petty squabbles on pie and bovril where all member clubs will rightfully have their say. So aye Burnieman might be shouting from the rooftops for Blackburn, likewise myself for WW or the lad from Dunbar for that matter but we're no hiding behind any names slating other clubs on here. Jeezo one lad on here does nae fancy starting up again and hes even been abused. Will I be disappointed if WW go down on ppg,of course I will but at the end of the day it's only a game. The EoSFA have been around for a long long time and won't be influenced by a handful on here. That is one thing that is guaranteed here. At the end of the day we should all be thankful we are all healthy and finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel in getting on top of this horrible disease.

  9. Not once was it ever ‘originally’ meant to be open for the season starting. There is a process to follow in pre-develop before construction starts and it’s being followed. Anyone who claims otherwise is just making noise.

  10. Every club has grievances based on there personal circumstances. The 2 banging the drum here are Dunbar and Blackburn for it being unfair. I can guarantee if either were safe by PPG they would be fine with calling the league in that form. Every club in the country would do there best for there club if they are in that position. Yes there was an agreement in place but we can't go another season with 18 team top league and conferences again. The time is right now to get the leagues sorted for next season especially with the new influx of clubs and finally everyone under the one umbrella. Blackburn and Whitehill will have been saved 2 years in a row if null and void . A pyramid is in place for all teams to find there level. Jeanfield or Tranent deserve a crack at LL and Luncarty and Leith deserve a crack at Premier league. Its very unfortunate on the teams being relegated but there is every chance they may be down there struggling again for a third season in a row. If Any of the bottom 4 teams were to be relegated they would come straight back up in a years time if proven to be good enough. For everyone's sake let's get leagues in place for starting 21/22 16 team Premier 16 team championship and 2 regionalised leagues below that. Let everyone find there level .

  11. After a request by the management board for points to raise at next board meeting. Our proposal for consideration was circulated to some clubs not all as a way to gauge other clubs thoughts on implementing a tiered league structure by declaring the season on ppg. I am happy to forward to all clubs if that is so desired. The feedback was mostly positive with other points raised and some negative feedback also. As suggested here nothing is underhand, I was advised that if we wanted to call an egm to discuss we need 10 clubs to second our proposal. We have achieved this although after further discussion our thought process is we are happy to go with the decision of the management committee after Thursdays meeting. Would I have made this proposal is Dundonald would have been relegated as a result possibly not. If proposal came in was accepted and we were duly relegated a would get on with it as firmly believe a league structure is required ASAP. I don’t hide behind user names and happy to discuss with anybody any issues or concerns they have. I am easily contactable. Self preservation is understandable but surely we need to be bigger than that and look at the end goal on pyramid structure not what’s in front of our nose. Look at the bigger picture. As for not being made welcome at certain clubs if the proposal is implemented as suggested by a poster on here. I am big enough and ugly enough not to let that bother me to be honest. I might get a free pint from others. Change effects everyone sometimes positively and other times negatively. We still need to embrace it if it’s for the greater good.

  12. **Fantasy Golf Week 13** Behold, for he has risen. Jordan 28:5 Easter Sunday saw a resurrection worthy of big JC himself, as Jordan Spieth finally returned to the winner's circle almost 4 years after his last triumph, the 2017 Open Championship. He takes the Valero Texas Open in his home state., seeing off Hoffman and Wallace. A hugely popular winner, not so much in fantasy golf terms though, as only @alta-pete has the second coming in his team. Was it enough to take the Road to the Masters title. Standings 671 (4) @J_Stewart 665 (4) @Mr Kane and the lemon cafe 642 (0) @die hard doonhamer 630 (54) @alta-pete 585 (4) @Tartan Dave 558 (0) @Henderson to deliver ..... 549 (12) @lichtie23 529 (4) @Ro Sham Bo 485 (8) @peasy23 403 (0) @Honest_Man#1 396 (0) @Distant Doonhamer The answer was no, and the Road to the Masters winner is @J_Stewart Congratulations, you have 2 x £5 free bets to use on any Skybet Masters market. Have a look and let me know what you fancy. The Race to Whistling Straits mini league now begins, with free bets for the highest point scorer between now and the Ryder Cup, and a reminder that the transfer window slams shut at Masters tee off. And so to Augusta. The jewel in the crown of the golfing season. Double points up for grabs in the long awaited first major of the year. Back to its traditional spot in the calendar after last year's look at a late autumn Magnolia Drive, and a welcome return to azalea's in full bloom. Picking a winner is tough. Last year's champion Johnson won in Saudi Arabia but has struggled since, however, he remains the undisputed world's no.1. Question marks hang over the form of Rahm and McIlroy and what effect will the recent birth of his 1st child have on the big Spaniard ? Thomas, Morikawa, DeChambeau and Koepka go in with perhaps the best form of the game's elite, but is the latter over his injury problems ? Further down, the villainous Patrick Reed already has a green jacket and a win this season at a tough classical course, while another previous winner, the Lazarus like Jordan Spieth won last week. He'd be the first man since Mickelson in 2006 to win the week before and follow up in Georgia. Course experience is considered paramount here amongst the pines, but Cam Smith and Sunjae Im went some way to dispel that notion last November with top 3 finishes. Hope perhaps for our very own Bob MacIntyre at a track which has been kind to left handers previously. All set for an outstanding 4 days of golf.

  13. Not my story but I remember reading it on Hibs.net and it seems like a wholesome thing to share about a footballer who was nice. Even some Hibs fans might've slightly forgotten Niklas Gunnarsson by now, but for others who either have rightly forgotten or never knew to begin with, he joined the club in January 2016 on loan from Vålerenga in Norway. Made fifteen appearances, scored a couple of goals - including one against Rangers in the dress rehearsal for the Scottish Cup final - but all in all, a largely unmemorable spell. He was, however, on the pitch at the full time whistle when we won the Scottish Cup on the 21st May 2016, having come off the bench for Paul Hanlon with seven minutes left in the game. As the photo below shows, he (far left of the photo) and Liam Fontaine were the suavest looking at the parade by some distance. Anyway, he returns to his parent club and we don't hear from him again. A shame I felt, as he was dependable cover for David Gray; who was slowly racking up the injuries. A year or so passes and a Hibs fan is doing the rounds getting their 2016 shirt signed by all of the members of the cup winning squad (I think for a charity raffle but can't remember). With most of the team staying on for the season after, or at least staying in Britain, this is quite an easy task. With the exception of Gunnarsson. The fan wrote to Gunnarsson's new club and explained the situation. Gunnarsson not only arranged a courier off his own back to get the shirt signed and returned to the fan, he called the fan up personally to tell him and spent ages speaking about that day and his brief-but-happy memories of his time at Hibs. There was no obligation of Gunnarsson to do any of the above, especially as he was really just a loanee passing through as a massive piece of history was inadvertently created around him, but it was lovely to see him go that extra mile. Sounds like a gid c**t by all accounts.

  15. Well that is true. But you could equally blame Jaime Wilson for missing a sitter up at Peterhead in our 1-0 defeat for a points swing in their favour. Ryan McGeever for losing Anton Dowds in our 1-1 with Falkirk or for letting Ben Armour onto his right against Peterhead at home in our 1-0 loss. Ross Forbes missed a sitter at the end of that Forfar game, so he can be blamed too. Players make mistakes. Ramsbottom made a bad one in a big game, but his response has been first class. If we get relegated it won't be because of that mistake. It will be because we haven't been good enough over the course of 18/22 games to stay up.

  18. Daily Infections update. From UK Gov as opposed to PHS who need 4 days of holidays. Last 24 hours of data. These numbers if accurate and not solely down to holidays are astonishing. The PHS figures tomorrow should confirm either way. Cases per 100K last reported 7 days UK Average 47.6 to 44.0 down 7.56%, England 47.3 to 43.9 down 7.19% , Wales 31.0 to 28.7 down 7.42%, Northern Ireland 51.6 to 49.4 down 6.20% Scotland 58.8 to 51.4 down 12.59% Individual councils Clackmannanshire shows at 228.9 per 100K on these figures (still rising). The next worst in the UK now is Doncaster at 129.2 So Clacks is over 75% worse than the 2nd place council in the UK !! West Lothian is 7th at 106.5, North Lanarkshire is 12th at 103.4. The only 3 Scottish councils now over 100 per 100K. Glasgow is now below 70, 6 councils in the UK have rates under 10 and all are in Scotland. Orkney 0.0 , Western Isles 0.0 , Dumfries & Galloway 5.4, Argyll & Bute 5.8, Highlands 6.8 & Shetlands 8.7 have a grand total of 31 active cases !! The Borders 11.3 & South Ayrshire 16.0 also find themselves in the bottom 20.

  24. I think O'Donnell is class tbh. He obviously most likely didn't see himself ending up here at this stage of his career but has carried himself pretty well on and off on the pitch despite that. I'm not meaning that in that sycophantic "our wee club is lucky to have you" way you sometimes see but if he is around next season I'm looking forward to seeing him in what is hopefully a more stable team/defence.

  25. Quote me any Falkirk fan who genuinely believed we had a chance of winning last night. However, I’d much rather see my team at least attempt to have a shot at goal regardless of who the opposition is than witness that embarrassment ever again. Those tactics were an utter disgrace to the Club. As for the “cheap points scoring” accusation, I was merely pointing out your factually inaccurate p!sh.

  26. I think you need to sometimes switch off from this thread, twitter and news sites. We're in a fast moving environment where it's easy to get lost in a myriad of different takes on a particular news update where people are lighting cigars or losing their heads in equal measure. This thread is evident of that. Most people have had good and bad days during the last 12 months, sometimes its good to put the phone down and turn off the laptop for a while and forget. Not easy I know.

  28. I have to agree that legally the null and void agreed to by all clubs before the league re-started should be upheld. People cannot simply change their minds because suddenly things are not so rosy or looking really good for their club. What was the point in having all clubs agree at the meeting. Oh yes, I agree unless the result of null and void is detrimental to my club then I will change my mind. Come on folks, seriously. As I said before, NO debate required as it has been decided already.

  29. Sorry to bring this up again and it has nothing to do with his ability as a player - he was one of the better performers at the weekend - but I don't think it got paid enough attention. McClelland even being allowed the number 72 was just not sitting well with me. An absolute riddy and it is the epitome of stuff that our club shouldn't be getting involved in.

  30. I’d like to see us go for it in this game and not rotate unless it’s injuries, this is arguably the most winnable game left as we’re at home against 9th and 3 points would surely just about see us into the playoffs. The next 3 matches for us are huge, we don’t want to be playing Dundee and Hearts desperately needing points. Arbroath will surely need to come and attack us which hopefully gives our lads a bit more space. They’re fast running out of games and a draw is probably no good to them. Dick Campbell is no mug and I expect he’ll have done his homework and set his team up to counter our threat. Tuesday’s games will definitely have a huge bearing on this one, Ayr and Morton pick up points and Arbroath have to go for it, Dundee and ICT win and we’ll definitely have to go for it. Great season I’m just glad we’re at the right end of the table. The Championship top to bottom has been really entertaining.

NO EFFING WAY just to keep some back room , ass wipes happy about PPG , whom ever thinks going back early is a 100% AN idiot players are human beings not numbers, we arent getting paid ,cant travel together , cant shower,we have families ,commitments, jobs and responsibilities i asked my team mates the younger ones dont care the older ones were all a NO Way it may be ok to say , oh 50% can be done , its not impossible , lets just play ,,,,you are not the ones playing you immature ,selfish cretins therefore if we are forced back what stance will the league team when clubs cant field teams ? will i get banned ? will the club ? please stop all this Crap FOOTBALL IS DONE FINISHED , THIS SEASON , lets look forward to next season and some normality

  33. The fact that when he’s had to fight for his place this season he’s chucked his toys oot the pram speaks volumes about Polworth. We’ve seen plenty of senior players like Hartley, Tait, Hammell, Sutton etc in recent years find themselves out the team. I don’t remember any of them greeting about it or falling out with the manager. However Polworth’s piss poor attitude is symptomatic of one that’s sadly seemed all too prevalent amongst our current squad this season. Too many fragile egos with delusions of grandeur. In Polworth’s case, he’s scored 1 league goal in over 50 games for the club and I don’t think he’s registered an assist from open play this season. He’s hardly the creative force his missus is making him out to be. Never mind the Scottish Cup final, for me May is all about that glorious 20/21 released list and I for one can’t fucking wait.

  35. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56635658 Possibly wrong thread for this but following on from Rangers selfless offer of providing a colt team in League 2 to aid the development of young players for the national team, they have extended that charitable thinking by pointing out that a ban to Nathan Patterson would be damaging to the SFA and Scotland. If only more Scottish clubs had this attitude we may have been world cup winners by now.

  40. Aye, I think my broad strokes, TL;DR take is that in the current climate, even with the best scouting it's unlikely we'll be able to bring in a right back who's significantly better than O'Donnell - so I'd rather we spent our time and energy focusing on bringing in better than guys who will definitely be away like Gallagher and Polworth et al. My more nuanced view on SOD's time is that he's suffered from an Expectations vs Reality situation similar-ish to McManus in so much as the expectation from some is 'Scotland International' when the reality is that he's a good, mid-upper Scottish Premiership player who landed a spot in the international side and has seen his career at that level extended by his former club manager getting the Scotland job and clearly having complete trust in him. That means we're not getting Andy Robertson or Kieran Tierney (we never were) instead we're getting a guy who is clearly "a good player for this level" but might have the occasional poor game over the course of the season and sell the jerseys as he did against Accies. Tbh, I can absolutely live with that. The other thing is I think he's been a bit unlucky in the way he landed at the club in so much as there's this narrative about him leaving Killie to get his "Big Move" and there being an element of schadenfreude from certain areas when Covid put an end to that and he's ended up with us. In a way even Robinson heavily leaned on him signing being a short-term gig and that's probably led to people getting bent out of shape on a "he doesn't really want to be here" level. Waiting until the last day of January to announce he'd extended to the end of the season probably didn't help much either as it felt like it played into Robinson's claim when he was leaving about players being here as a "last resort". Ultimately it doesn't bother me if he's only at the club because it's convenient for him as he lives on the doorstep and has decided that he wants to prioritise his family - if he's up for extending in the sort of timeframe he's talking about in that interview then sign the handsome, empire-biscuit making b*****d up.

  43. 42 shots. To zero. A complete, utter and total embarrassment for any so-called professional football club. This so-called weakened side simply showed up their ineptitude, containing several players they should be selecting for league games rather than sending them out like lambs to the slaughter at Parkhead before dumping them back on the bench and restoring all the usual dross to the starting line-up for the games that really matter. Which is a certainty to happen on Tuesday. Miller and McCracken could not set up a team to play "enterprising football" if their life depended on it. They are petrified of playing of Dumbarton at home. And on the evidence of the utter garbage they are serving up game after game after game against the most mediocre of opponents, there should be zero debate or "worry" about them being in charge next year. Promotion or not, they need to be out the door as soon as this season is finished.
