  1. The worst thing is guys like neilson and deveney should be first choice for league games instead of being seen as backups to prevent the usual dross having to play cup ties. This just emphasises that come the Airdrie match it will.be the same old shite put out on the park that have been honking for weeks.

  3. Chile are mainly using the Chinese CoronaVac vaccine are they not? It's got around 50% efficacy compared to the 90%+ of the Pfizer and AstraZeneca... Might be an idea for Nicola to point that out, because all things like this will do is increase vaccine hesitancy ('what's the point if it makes no difference') and increase the feeling that Government's never really want to loosen restrictions. Tweets like this feel like they are coming from someone who doesn't realise the power her words hold.

  4. If 2 fully vaccinated people can't meet then the game is truly up and life is over as we know it. Alternatively, that fat, mumbling walrus can f**k off. Adult human beings should not need government permission to visit each other's houses.

  5. Suspect this is a representative of the surprisingly large idiot wing of the QoS support. I was happy enough to see Trouts come back in today although I'd rather have seen Grant Jnr drop out. Not that I'm anti Grant Jnr - he put through some nice balls again today - but it was the kind of day when Hetherington and Robertson would have given us a much needed strong centre midfield axis. Connolly is an interesting one as he isn't fantastic but is the closest we have to a quick and direct attacking option (since we didn't sign anyone else) . Yet he sat on the bench for months. Similarly Thommo hasn't been seen for weeks then when we are desperate today he goes on ahead of Connolly, Scougall and Buchs who have all been involved of late. The manager has had some bad lack with injuries but he has struggled to find the right formation and balance. Don't think he knows his best team yet. He has also failed to exploit the loan market well enough. Such a crucial market for Alloa in recent times in elevating the strong nucleus we have to another level, and more important than ever this season when that nucleus was showing signs of wear and tear. The excuse of Covid making loans tough doesn't really stand up when other part time sides got decent loans in. Most frustrating thing for me was that despite all the daft goals we gave away and disjointed performances, we weren't far away. We should have won last week. Despite an insipid showing today we had great chances to go ahead in the second half. We could easily have been sitting 9th tonight. The league is shite this season and it has been a missed opportunity. As Father Barry said before the game it looks like a big rebuild is looming. We'll have to see who stays and who goes. There are a number who are capable of staying at this level if they want to. Lot will probably depend on who the manager is. I don't think PG had a horrific season despite the mistakes he made but I'm not at all convinced he is the man for the rebuild and I'd probably favour a new start. Important to say too that the effort and spirit of the team can never be questioned. A brilliant group of players who have given us so many great days and earned their place in Alloa history.

  6. Today was another example of poor management. A good manager and we win this game and would still be pushing Hearts close. Get McPake to f**k.

  7. What to do with an Argyll applicant that involves a bus journey of epic proportions could explain that. Would be hilarious to watch what unfolds if Harthill Royal find out they have an away game against Campbelltown Pupils next season after applying to the WoS to avoid a trip to Coldstream or Tweedmouth in the EoS.

  14. Adam has passed it lol. Only thing been said spot on is he does like a yellow card every game. I'm sure the point in Adam was we build around him. Obviously when you have an idiot in charge this hasn't happened and why our midfield has been a shambles just like the rest of the team for the majority of the season.

  15. Plenty to take from that. In the end, fair result. We were brilliant first half, but we we really needed to keep Gullan fit. Livi knew we built from the back, so pushed us high up the pitch - which can cause us issues. Difference for me was Vaughan and Gullans movement created space for the midfield, what a difference. Perhaps should have been 2-0 up at half time, but maybe that's a bit far. As soon as Gullan was off, it was a matter of time. We lost one of our main out balls, and Vaughan was never going to last the course. There is also the elephant in the room, that Duku isn't very good. His early form looks very much the exception rather than the rule. He had to do so much better when put through on goal. The cries about some kind of conspiracy look as ridiculous as the cries that the team had turned to shit since Mcglynn came back from illness. Duku is not good enough, unless he is being furnished with a luxurious amount of balls in the 6 yard box. As soon as it got to 1-1, Livingston dominated. A shame to lose out in the 2nd half of extra time, but it was coming so fair play to them. Really don't buy into this chat about it being the "worst possible outcome". We went toe to toe with a top 6 Premiership side who are going for Europe, and who reached a National cup final this season. Holding our own over 90 minutes (and perhaps feeling disappointed not to win it) is gargantuan progress from some previous years. Granted, we could have done without the extra 30 mins - but we have a free midweek for the first time in a month, and are playing against a part-time side next week. An extra 30 mins should not matter one jot in the long run. Well played Livi, they really grew into the 2nd half and in extra time. However I'm happy with what I saw today - we didn't look one bit out of place against a decent Premiership outfit, that bodes well for the rest of the season. Lots of positives today, I enjoyed the match and glad to have a proper cup tie again. All the best to Livi in the next round.

  17. It's not that wild tbh, you have repeated yourself twice now about Adam's comments, and that the Sainties players will be more fired up after them. Clearly got in their heads and yours. Not that bad at mind games then.

  18. You are 100% correct a club our size does not have the luxury of carrying anyone. That is what makes the appointment of McPake so utterly bizarre. A manager with no experience of managing an adult team, let alone a Championship side needing an urgent rebuild and desperate to get promoted ASAP.

  19. I assumed this thread was about Ayr United, formed in 1910 as a merger of Ayr FC and Ayr Parkhouse to bring success to the town of Ayr. Trophies won in 111 years - zero.

  20. I think that's as impressive a result for us as it was an underwhelming performance from Ayr. And interestingly, it's the first time we've won down there in nigh on twenty years. For a part-time team who've played a couple through the week to go away to a comparably fresh-legged full-time team and win is, on its face, superb. Of course, we have been working a bit of a rota so it's not quite as surprising a result as it might seem. But we still had plenty tired legs out there, make no mistake. I thought we defended well after nicking the early goal and making a very high-tempo start. Perhaps that was calculated. Or perhaps it was simply driven by a bollocking following the no-show over the same period at East Fife. Hard to pick an outstanding individual for either team. Kevin Nicoll did a lot of useful dirty work for us so I'd give him MOTM. Rumsby done some good aggressive defending in the first half too. I think we changed our shape in the second-half in anticipation of our energy levels dropping and no doubt they did. We've rarely done well with a line of three/five at the back but it served a purpose today because it enjoyed good protection from the midfield and we'd a lead to defend so we could sit very deeply, limiting the space for Ayr who seemed hell bent on trying to play through us. They ended up with a few corners but very little in the way of chances bar maybe one or two which Mitchell snuffed out. Unusually, it's a bittersweet thing to win as another fixture is all we need but with any luck it'll be a money spinner with some tele money or the likes. However poorly Ayr performed on the day, it did also strike me that there wasn't a lot of quality through their side, particularly in the final third. And unfortunately for the game, I think there has been a reduction in individual quality and a reduction in the quality gap you see between teams in what is now league one and even as far up as the bottom few teams in the SPL. There are a lot of players kicking around who've lingered not because of their talent or fitness but because of the poverty of alternatives. Put it this way, in the decade from 2000 to 2010, what was then the first division was, in almost every season, a league with more individual quality and better teams leading up the league. I think there's been a real slide since round about then. Roll on the next round.

  27. It’s fucking mental, all he had to say was “ I’m sorry, please wait a little longer as we don’t wish to have different rules for different people “. Most people would hear that and think fair enough Obviously that’s contradictory to what they’ve been saying so far, there’s also no way they could say just use common sense as the pish would clearly get taken. But the way things are going that’s happening anyway. We had some guests over last night , not a party just a family of 3 , that plus me and the mrs makes a grand total of 5 or in other words the same number as millions of households up and down the country. Most of the neighbours have been doing similar so I’m confident there’s no grasses round here Who said community spirit was dead eh

  32. Is it wrong that I am properly dreading this game, and would rather we just got chucked out the Scottish Cup for our players having a houseparty tonight than actually played it? I don't think we'll get pumped. Duffy can set a team out to be stuffy and hard to break down. We'll lose 2/3-0 without registering a shot on target though, and everyone who doesn't watch us every week will use words like "plucky" and "well organised".

  33. Anyone with any say in the running of our club who is prepared to sit back and think that a showing like that tonight was acceptable as a Football Club should walk straight out the front door never to return. I’m not expecting to win, but for gods sake, at least try and have a go. We, as supporters are paying good money and the least we expect is to see our team try and entertain. We are paying circa £140k to a management team including Holt and we can’t even muster one shot at goal, it’s embarrassing. I bet there are certain people sitting in their wee ivory tower tonight thinking that was acceptable. Well, it’s not. We have a team that have hardly played and you have a duty to play your strongest 11 every game, the more they play together, the better understanding they have and all that. There is an acceptance that it is ok for our club, same after the Rangers Reserves league cup defeat to turn up and get turned over. Well it flippin well isn’t in my book. If that is your mindset, that’s what you will get served up and we will tread water for evermore. It’s defeatist and quite frankly, unacceptable.

  34. You could say that about the whole team, the difference being Charlie has the ability and the testicular fortitude to try something different. If he was to just play it the safe 5 yards that numerous other charlatans try (and fail to complete) he'd have a 100% success rate.

  36. FT East Fife 1-2 Morton There was only going to be one winner in extra time and it was going to be Morton, it was only in the last 5 minutes or so of that period when we even started to look threatening!!! We looked good over the initial 90 and will take the moral victory of being victorious after 90 minutes!!![emoji6] Could really have done without the extra time, as having now played 4 games in 7 days that half hour is going to have a knock on effect for our next 3 games that we play in the next 7 days, as has been said I would rather we had went out after 90, but to be winning after 90 minutes and to lose it to poor game management and a soft penalty does make it a bit harder!!! Ah well wasn’t to be, stick our players in ice baths and good luck in the next round Morton!!!

  38. I absolutely cannot fault the effort from us today, but I was genuinely shocked at how mediocre Aberdeen were and my fears over a fresh full-time Premier outfit overrunning tired part-timers never materialised. The game confirmed that we are reasonably resilient defensively when we allow teams to play in front of us but we have very little further forward; it was a game we weren't expected to score in and we didn't. Having said that we did at least create two more chances than normal. The performance and the manner of the defeat has probably secured Jim Duffy's position for the remainder of the season.

  39. That Graham chance at Parkhead is a pivotal moment in history. He scores, we go on to win the league. The feel good factor from the good guys winning lasts for years, Scotland votes for independence and the USA rejects Trump. Sino-US relations improve so much that there's a Wendy's on every corner in China and bats are no longer a favoured dish. COVID-19 never exists. Brian Graham is singularly responsible for the state of the world right now.

  45. I refuse to believe that you've genuinely failed to understand the very obvious point Sturgeon was making here, as opposed to deliberately misinterpreting it to have a stick to beat her with and claim that she doesn't really want independence. There is no contradiction between saying we won't have a referendum until the pandemic is over and saying we need independence to recover from the pandemic. The pandemic being over - the end of all restrictions for public health reasons as vaccination becomes widespread and Covid-19 is brought under control. A process which should take months. The recovery from the pandemic - rebuilding after the above happens, with vast swathes of society having been adversely impacted for over a year and the potential for it to get far worse as the extent of the damage to various sectors of the economy becomes clear. Governments deciding where and how they'll target public spending to provide support to their populations and avoid further recessions. A process which will take years and likely decades. There is no contradiction whatsoever there. Anyone who sees one is actively looking for it in order to find quotes which can be shoehorned into a preconceived notion of what they think Sturgeon wants, which isn't supported by anything she's said.
