Better stop undergoing any sort of operation then m9 as the risk from GA is higher. Better stop any lady from taking the pill as the risk of a clot is substantially higher. Better stop taking all those medications as there is a risk of side effects and sometimes death. Better stop crossing the road its a risky business and so on and so on etc etc.29 points

I think you’re way off here, especially the bit in bold. I actually think you’re being a bit insulting and there’s a lot of revisionism going on here based on what we know now. At the point of the first lockdown we knew very little on who it was impacting on and it was believed, by a large majority I would suggest, that there was a serious risk to potentially anyone. Plenty of workers had to continue to go to work and legitimately (due to the thinking and press coverage at the time) put their lives at risk. The bit in bold is actually verging on outrageous to me, essentially accusing anyone who was scared of Covid but not willing to chuck their job and livelihood down the drain as “stupid”.11 points

Alan Russell seems like a serious appointment, well done AFC. Only hint of sadness is that we'll never see how good Curtis Main could have been with an England striking coach onside.8 points

Thanks so much for this. My mum is currently in hospital due to myeloma and now at stage of palliative care (she was really touch and go from Sunday through to last night). I know we're now at the days/weeks stage rather than months/years but me, my dad and my partner have been given approval to drop in and see her in her room in the ward as there is currently no guarantee she'll come home. My dad is her primary carer but I've also been providing a bit over the last few days since she went downhill and wasn't aware of this. I've now registered and have been approved for my vaccine appointment to follow. Sincerely, thanks for making me aware of this.8 points

I absolutely fucking hate this response. What do you expect him to do that will actually “show them”? Take an AK47 to Westminster? It’s the same shite response that the ‘SNP can do no wrong’ tosser s give when someone says they’ve written to their MSP to complain about something. What do you suggest that someone does then to voice their opinion?7 points

Just read the summing up on Dumbarton 0-1 Airdrie from last night from stalwart Jan Vojacek... "the least entertaining Sons side he's ever seen" is among other damning - and perceptive - appraisals of where Dumbarton currently sit. Apart from how remarkably easy it was to read Jan's comments and see "Duffy" but think "Miller&McCracken", one of the main points that sticks out is how utterly impotent a goal threat Dumbarton are. So, to put Falkirk's 'efforts' and our co-manager's brand of 'total football' into further perspective, here is Dumbarton's run of League results since we played them in November. 21 Nov L 0-1; 24 Nov L 0-3; 5 Dec D 0-0; 12 Dec w 1-0; 19 Dec L 0-4; 20 Mar L 0-1; 30 Mar D 1-1; 1 Apr L 0-1. Eight League games. One win. 6 blanks. A grand total of 2 goals, of which - naturally - 1 is against us . So, on reflection, how should M & M have approached a home game against such a tricky opponent? Probably best to play a back 4, keep the full-backs back in defence, a holding mid-fielder is essential, and definitely one up front, because that's how the big teams play. Yeah, that'll do it. Fecking idiots.7 points

That was just a carbon copy of our previous two home league games. I couldn't even be bothered to write a report up - so the reaction from Duffy is here for anyone wanting a read. I figured that's what most folk would probably be interested in. We created nothing. Airdrie didn't create much either, but at least they threatened on occasion - and linked two bits of quality together for the goal. From Duffy's post-match he said he's tried telling the players to attack more, tried switching formations, personnel and tried adding new faces. And none of it is working. It's obviously clear for us all to see, but that coming from the manager is massive worry. I was chatting to another fan after the game and he mentioned that this is the least entertaining Sons side he's ever seen. I'd agree. Sure we've had some poor teams over the years, but very few have been as toothless as this one. We simply don't score goals. I've now been on co-comms for eight games and we've only scored in two of them; Huntly and Cove Rangers. That's it. It's absolutely draining to watch. That game today was absolutely brutal to watch, so it means a lot to read the comments from folk saying they enjoyed the coverage. I'm not 100 percent sure where the problem lies with our lack of a threat. Look at some of our attacking options; Wilson, Crossan, Wallace, Omar, Frizzell, Forbes even Conner Duthie. Not world beaters. But guys who should be capable of getting a few shots on target in League One at the very least. Does that mean the fault is at the door of the manager? Well he can't control the players on the park, and they are clearly under-performing, but questions need to be asked about why. Wilson had a great debut, but has tailed off since. Crossan looked far better last season than this. Frizzell looked a world-beater on his debut - but has faded. Forbes was one of the best players in the league and notched double figures in goals and assists when Duffy first came in. What's gone on since then? Jaime Wilson is the guy I have most sympathy for though. He's clearly a handy player and I'd back him to score a good number of goals in a side that created chances and played to his strengths. But with us he gets 67 minutes of having the ball hoofed at him, gets bashed about by defenders who tower of him, runs himself into the ground...and is then hooked. It's a total waste. There are two 'what ifs' that fascinate me though. - Firstly, what if last season had finished as normal. Where would we have ended up? And would Duffy have remained in charge? - Secondly, what if fans were in. How much pressure would Duffy be under now, and what sort of reaction would he be getting? On Airdrie, well I was disappointed when they took Thomas Robert off. He definitely drifts in and out of games, but the way he glides across the pitch with the ball when he fancies it is quite beautiful to watch. He was pretty much the only enjoyable aspect of the game. I guess their biggest frustration will be that he doesn't use the outrageous talent he clearly has to grab a match by the scruff of the neck. That aside they didn't look like a team on such a woeful run. They played with a bit of confidence and every so often knocked the ball about at a really good tempo. Much like Robert though that was kind of patchy, and they looked content to drop to our level for spells. I hope their form improves though. Ian Murray and Bryan Prunty on the touchline is the stuff of dreams. My all time favourite Sons manager with quite probably my all-time favourite Sons player. Between that and their beautiful kit I might just pretend I'm a Diamonds fan from now on7 points

Also re. SJFA involvement, I feel it will be easier now the SJFA has new management. The previous lot (including TJ) were holding the SJFA back. I've heard a lot of positive things about the new people who took over, that they are more progressive and more fitted to the new reality.6 points

This fixture always reminds me of the two occasions a Ross County fan has admitted to me in person that they take greater pleasure in The Caley losing, than they do in Ross County winning. I have no doubt there’s Ross County fans on here like that too.6 points

That's a cracking bit of business. It'll depend on the way you set-up, but we went from leaking goals like a sieve (much like we do this season) to him coming in and organising the likes of Jordon Forster & injury ravaged Josh Meekings to the point where they looked like competent defenders. He played 6 games for us - met the squad on the day of our game against Morton and we proceeded to go 5 games without conceding. The only goal we did concede was on that first day against Morton in which Conor Hazard let in a howler. He's a very slow player and can easily be exposed that way (although he lists his speed as his best attribute bizarrely). To be fair to him, over a very short distance he still has a decent turn of pace, but he turns like a milk wagon so you don't want to be playing the highest of lines with him at the back. Ideally, slot him in the middle of a back three and he'll be excellent for you. Even if you got promoted and he had to resort to being a 'squad player', you're not gonna find much better 'squad players' than him. Easily an upgrade on all of our current CH's and still has enough in the tank to be easily considered an upgrade on the likes of Davidson, Benedictus & Mendy (if you still have him ). To sum up, very decent bit of business even if Hearts fans seem to think he's finished.5 points

Yeah I agree with this tbh. Thought the dig at shop workers was a bit out of order, as they genuinely were one of the few groups of workers who genuinely were in one of the worst environments for spreading, and had no choice but to just continue on whilst the majority hid in their houses.5 points

Thanks Hannah. Honestly, I know I've never met you but I do know Ruggy pretty well from the 5s days and believe me when I say to you that both of you are never far from my mind when talking to my mum and dad about her condition as I see first hand the devastating impact it has on the body. She's never been a tall woman - 5ft1 in her day. In the last 16 months though and without a single invasive procedure, she's shrunk to 4ft8 and she's literally withered. It's fucking devastating watching someone who 3 weeks before her diagnosis, was on a treadmill running 5k 3-4 days a week. Someone who actually only got 3 weeks into retirement before her diagnosis. I take a lot of heart from reading of someone like you who has fought it so long and is continually finding ways of booting it's arse every time the cycle peaks upwards. My mum already told me that if she was 20 years younger and I was still a kid, she'd have done everything offered up in terms of treatment, she have tried to drag it down to its almost 'chronic' status but unfortunately she'd been taking unknown periodical viruses and infections for about 3/4 years prior to her diagnosis (which the oncologist mentioned was likely a result of the condition being there) and they only caught it when it was pretty far advanced. I respect and empathise with what you're going through so much.5 points
