  1. Just imagine if the vaccine centres were open 8 days a week 37 hours a day.

  2. There is a local taxi firm (A&B) who are taking auld folk for their jag and waiting for them then taking them back home again. This morning they picked me up, took me to my GP surgery then took me home again. All free of charge. Kudos to them. My vaccine was the AstraZeneca one and I was given a note which said that I would be contacted by the practice to arrange my 2nd vaccination in approx. 10 weeks time. ps. I'm 78 years auld

  5. I am really struggling with the narrative of the opposition fans. Seems to change on a routine basis. Lose to OF - McInnes bottles it again. Aberdeen fans upset with our OF record - you can't compete, Unrealistic expectations. Aberdeen play shite football against their team - With that squad we should be doing better. When Aberdeen fans demand better football - You should be happy with what you have. Aberdeen knocked out of cup - Hahaha you only have 1 cup under McInnes Aberdeen fans unhappy with cup record - Cups are a lottery.

  8. Fucking hell... Right, I'll break it down for you. He is alluding to the fact that as soon as a study shows that vaccines are not affected by a variant, the media ALMOST IMMEDIATELY finds a 'new concerning variant' He wasn't inferring that the report says that the vaccine stems the next 'new variant' almost immediately. It concerns me that you need this explained to you.

  11. Where does it end [emoji23]? I genuinely can't recall one news item mentioning variants prior to December. Since then, it's all we've heard about despite it being almost certain that the virus has been mutating since day 1. These constant updates on "variants" are getting beyond a joke and do nothing but increase people's fear and anxiety levels.

  15. It's not another matter, it completely defeats your own argument. I agree with the central crux of your argument - that if we are meant to be in lockdown then football should not be played, but to then say you have no issue with full-time football going ahead makes no sense. You state that if people were following restrictions etc then this would be over sooner, well maybe if we also stopped hundreds of players, coaches, physios, coach drivers, journalists, TV crews, match reporters etc needlessly driving across the country every weekend and midweek that would also get us back to normal sooner. I can't travel across regions to see my own family, but one of those clowns on Sportsound can travel to talk rubbish about a football game, on what planet is that okay? Absolutely no-one will convince me that Arbroath versus Alloa or Hamilton versus Ross County (or even Rangers versus Celtic) is in any way essential or serves any benefit to public health. Businesses and livelihoods have been shut down that serve far more benefit to society than professional football. Businesses where I'm sure the owners are willing and able to undergo regular testing (which is the most common argument I hear supporting football continuing) yet they aren't allowed to, what an earth gives football the right to continue over them? We haven't even got schools open, but people are okay with football continuing, it's just crazy. If people think that football continuing serves some important service for society then they are free to argue that, however the argument would have to involve all leagues continuing because whatever the basis of their argument is wouldn't suddenly not apply when you drop from the second tier to the third tier. And they would have to find a reason to argue why Alloa versus Queen of the South should be allowed, but people seeing their own family isn't, or children going to school, which seems like a pretty tough argument to make. But your position, that some football is essential, but some isn't, is entirely inconsistent. For me it is pretty simple, if we are meant to be in a lockdown when only essential services carry on then football at all levels stops. And when things start opening back up again it should be pretty far down the list. I honestly don't get how that is even a debate in a sane society.

  16. **Fantasy Golf Week 5** Get that money. Last week Paddy Reed proved he's one of the best closers in golf. This week, Brooks Koepka fired a timely reminder that he's also a stone cold killer(when he can be arsed),coming from 5 back and seeing off a slightly rejuvenated Jordan Spieth, who has morphed into the weird hybrid of a prime Seve and a college nerd, and Xander Schauffele, who developed a bad case of the Finau's. Brooks' return is a good thing for 2 reasons, firstly, no one has picked him, so less work for me and secondly, he loves to noise up Bryson. Over at the Bonesaw and Waterboarding Invitational, where the appearance fees outstrip the prize money, DJ cruised to a victory where he barely seemed to get out of 2nd gear. Despite the lack of spectators, he still managed to hit one. In a country known for its cruel and unusual punishments, let's just hope he's not given the House of Saud any ideas. With the world's top golfers ditching their morals to accept fat paychecks, we go over to the standings and the fantasy league competitors, who do this not for money, but for the love of the game. A good week for those who had both DJ and Finau in their team, a 50 point forecast bonus. @J_Stewart still the front runner, @Honest_Man#1 and your Fantasy League Commissioner (didn't want to win it anyway) getting left behind at the moment. Standings 464 (154) @J_Stewart 443 (184) @die hard doonhamer 435 (154) @Ro Sham Bo 384 (174) @alta-pete 379 (150) @lichtie23 349 (50) @Tartan Dave 328 (72) @Erih Shtrep 296 (160) @peasy23 266 (42) @Distant Doonhamer 196 (36) @Henderson to deliver ..... 174 (8) @Honest_Man#1 A bit of a breather this week as there's no European Tour event, after 3 weeks of stellar fields, all the big boys have gone home, probably muttering under their breath. So, we're left with the AT & T Pro-am, that's not a pro-am this year because of the pandemic. Bad news for those who enjoy seeing Samuel L Jackson skull one through the back of the green then. It's a poor field this year, headed up by Berger, Cantlay and Casey. Usually played over 3 courses, we've just got 2 this year. Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill. Pebble needs no introduction, one of the most revered venues in the game, the stretch from no.5 to no.10 amongst the most iconic in golf. It could well play tougher this year, with no pro-am = no easy pin placements. Spyglass is not as famous as it's neighbour, but probably slightly tougher and a beautiful course in it's own right, sitting on the Monterey Peninsula, arguably the best golfing land outside of the British Isles.

  19. Dundee have went to some effort to get this game off today. Cancelled all the buses and took the piss with the gritters who didn't seem to start on any roads near me this morning until at least after 10am. Some effort from the club just to give Jordan McGhee a chance of making a miraclous recovery tbh. Fair play, Nelms splashing the cash again.

  23. It’s amazing how many people were against that pitch when it was initially mooted. I’m sure if you were to trawl back through the Raith Rovers thread you’d find some belters. In my view John Sim is a bit of a club hero for financing that pitch and importantly ensuring it was of a high quality. He doesn’t really get the credit he deserves for that. Just look at the games (and lack thereof) Inverness have played this season, in seasons gone by that could have easily been us.

  29. That's why we are a tough gig for anyone. The average wage at Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs is a bit more than the other clubs, but that comes with a pressure of expectation - and some players struggle with that. That means that there will always be a chance for a well-organised side on an upward cycle like Motherwell (most often), Kilmarnock (under Clarke) or Livingston this season to finish above us. Then if you get it wrong completely, you can have a disatrous season such as us under Paterson/McGhee or Hibs/Hearts several times in recent times. The bigot brothers are signing players for millions and putting them anything from 4 to 15 times what our lot are on - yet just about every defeat is "bottling it" according to mainstream social media. McInnes has delivered a good level for us in league positions, winning ratio and some good European results too. Even one more domestic cup would have made a huge difference, but running into peak Rodgers or going into semis with half our team suspended/injured didn't help either - 2014 vs St J at Ibrox remains the one that really got away ! I get the point of being worried about change, but I just fear there's a maybe 20% chance of significant improvement and possibly a 50% likelihood of serious regression if we change him right now. ps Hibs bigger club - steady...

I've only ever seen pictures looking straight-on towards the east and west terraces but this shows just how vast it really was. And to see it in colour too... Absolutely astonishing stuff.

  36. Having grown up surrounded by it, I was well into it in the 90s/early 00s. But I find it incredibly boring to watch nowadays. Certainly can't imagine paying the sort of subscription money demanded to watch it. I live pretty much equidistant from the Stadium of Light and St James's Park: if you climb a hill near my house you can see both grounds on a clear day. It's inevitable my boys will grow up supporting one or the other (as well as Saints, obviously) but honestly, I'd sooner they supported South Shields. Proper football, family club, cheap tickets, and you can have a pint and watch the game from the side.

  37. That's remarkably reassuring. Edited to try to protect the identities/keep this anonymous, but: I asked a colleague how they were doing it the other day and got this reply, helped make my mind up I logged in early this morning, having drafted an email last night and fired it off to them. Last thing I remember saying on the email was that if someone else wants to do about 4 hours of work on their own time then good luck to them; its not for me. Haven't bothered logging back into the work (assuming I even have access anymore, got a feeling they'll stop me in case I point out the fuckery to any colleagues and one of them has enough of a spine to tell them to ram the job too) Then went into my pit for a long lie, went out for a walk with the dog (big malamute so looks cracking against the snowy backdrop) and there were a bunch of folk having a great time sledging and the like, out building snowmans and all sorts, couldn't help myself smiling while I went by. Legit the happiest I've been in over a year. f**k it, it was a long term temp dead end bullshit job tbh, might be a bit ballsy going unemployed at the moment but it can't be any worse than staying there; I've got savings to eat shit over until any Universal Credit comes through and there's f**k all to spend money on at the minute anyway. the shift patterns were miserable and all. I think what mainly sold it to my partner when I told her that I was thinking of packing it in was that a few months ago it was working from home, now its this stat tracker thing they want us to do unpaid, so what's stopping them in a few weeks/months from pulling the same pish over something else?

  38. Its frustrating that football can't continue but let's be honest and realistic. The rest of the country is in "lockdown". There are numerous businesses up and down the country struggling to survive due to the pandemic. Why should football clubs, PT ones at that, be allowed to play when the rest of us are locked up unable to do anything? Id love to play football, id love to see my family, there's loads id love to do but can't. People can bleat about the stats, the data, the government, the rates all they like. The fact of the matter is we are in lockdown and whilst the rest of us are locked up at home, so should PT footballers. Ok I wait for the argument about the top 2 leagues playing but there are numerous reasons they are allowed that we all know. Whether we like it or not is another matter. If everyone listened to the advice, abided by the rules and done what we are asked then we might get back a bit earlier. I for one am sick fed up of this pandemic, I want everything I enjoyed in my life back, including football, but until its safe we all need to suck it up and deal with it.

  44. Tidser was not "out of his depth" at all with us. He had more assists than any other player in our team and while he wasn't a complete stick out like I'd have expected he still had a lot to offer us and would be a nailed on starter in our team this season if he was still here. Irving was a kid chucked into the worst collection of players I've ever seen and was being asked to be the main creative driving force surrounded by plodding muck in a team battling relegation in a poisonous atmosphere having never really played top level football. He wasn't great by any stretch but he had no chance of succeeding.
