  1. All other fans suffer sectarian abuse every game against the old firm, amazingly we change religions depending on if we are playing Celtic or Rangers. Go to a game not involving the old firm and you wont hear anything to do with religion.

  4. Caught Radio Scotland in car there. They had someone on whose mother got the vaccine in December but has since contracted the virus. And the presenter is there putting questions to some vaccine bloke asking shite like “well it’s no that effective then is it??!!!” Everyone should fucking know that it doesn’t stop 100% of people getting the virus, especially when the woman’s only had the one dose. But you’ve got a publicly funded broadcaster fearmomgering and essentially spreading misinformation based on one woman. What the f**k happened to journalistic standards?

  7. I'm not sure what you mean about "above what has already been agreed" - this isn't some sort of additional loan, this is the £1m that the Scottish government made available to every club in the Premiership to help them cope with the loss of trade that has come as a direct result of their restrictions. Bowie also said that he hoped they wouldn't have to take any of it, and definitely didn't want to take the full £1m if they could possibly avoid it. Your idea about transfer embargos is daft here - the money is literally being made available to help clubs continue to trade normally through the pandemic, and player turnover is part of normal trade. We've already taken two wages off our books in January (Eastwood and Brophy) and we're talking about bringing in one player this month. The idea that you should stop clubs from signing any players because they have to take a loan to bridge a temporary loss of income is absolutely wild to me. Apart from anything else, it is a loan, so anything that we do take will have to be repaid in full anyway, it's not like it's free money.

  8. Lennon’s post match interview will be some laugh. Guessing that red card was from provocation from the Scottish government.

  9. I boo'ed Neil Lennon on his Celtic debut because he was ginger and had dyed his hair bleach blonde and looked like a twat, he then crunched one of our players near the home support and motioned towards them for calling for the foul. Lennon is and always has been an absolute c**t. Some of the abuse he's had throughout his career has probably been motivated because of sectarianism, but a substantial amount is also because he's just a c**t.

  10. Looking at it, if we're moved back to Tiers around March and gradually down the Tiers from that point, the majority will I assume be in Tier three for a good period of time which to me is still no real life at all, can't go see anyone indoors, can't go out for a drink or even go out at night for something to eat but we'll be made to feel how lucky we are to be in that position. Sick of it tbh.

  17. Comments like this can get absolutely fucked. People are not wanting solely to get a bevvy in the pub. People are just looking for some normality. For some people, this could mean sitting in a pub with their mates. For others, it could be sitting in a park with various friends. Humans require social interaction. I am not saying that this comes at the expense of peoples lives. However, we are almost a year down the line and we are literally back at square one. However, the difference is there is a vaccine which should offer some form of end game. Instead we keep getting hit with absolute shite saying restrictions may need to be in place for much longer than they need be. There is clear guidance on when they think the end game will be. We are getting constantly hit with this new variant pish which we know is nonsense. So, no, people are not solely focussed on the getting a bevvy in the pub. However, that is just an example of some form of normality that people are looking for and are, quite rightly, looking for some clear direction as to when it will happen. The longer this goes on, the more non-covid deaths will be caused by it.

  20. The pressure from retail, aviation, travel, hospitality industries to reopen as we approach the spring/summer and easing of lockdowns will be enormous. Far more than the general compliance of March 2020 until now. The reality is that some sort of balance will be struck in the short term in relation to what can and cannot go ahead with foreign travel just as it will with bars, concerts, going to the football and socialising in people's houses. I said on here weeks ago that it was ridiculous that a senior govt. advisor was essentially writing 2021 off already and a few people said I was overreacting at even suggesting that but that is exactly what Leitch would like to do. Thankfully as the vaccine progresses and the months wear on, voices like his will no longer become the leading authority on measures we should take and a whole host of experts from other fields will also be taken into consideration as cases fall significantly. I need to laugh at this quote though: I mean, it's almost as if we don't have something now that essentially will prevent it going up quickly in future. I don't know if he's noticed.

  25. I know I bang on about this a lot, but ten years ago was the start of an unbelievable amount of rot. Established SPL club, recent European football, recent cup final, first-class training facilities (I was at Stirling Uni at the time), youth academy, no debt, decent stadium. Had we advertised the job when Yogi went we'd have had some absolutely fantastic applicants. But no, we appointed the youth coach as the cheap option who didn't want the job and didn't have the balls to admit that he wasn't cut out for it until we were all but relegated. f**k's sake. Depresses me even when I think about it.

  31. The population of Barra is 1078 people (give or take a few), so an infection rate of 'over 1000 per 100,000' people means, err, eleven or twelve people got the infection in the past week. A handful of families could account for it. This underlines the idiocy of those making sweeping judgments about populations 'behaving' or not when the infection rates in question are actually tiny.

  33. Aye it's undeniable he's received unacceptable abuse over the years. However, we are still talking about a guy who absolutely relishes being the pantomime villain, much like Scott Brown. He's gone out of his way to antagonise opposition players and fans as a manager and player, he seems to genuinely believe the entire world is against Celtic and this is all compounded by the fact that he's most vocal about these things when it's obvious to everyone that his own performance is usually his biggest problem.

  34. I really don’t think Kerr and McArdle go overboard with the whole tactical thing although it’s easy to think that when you’ve hear comments about the laptop or when you get coaches who’ve never played the game before. I think they’ll definitely pay a lot more attention to player fitness and positioning given we now use the GPS tech during games and training but I doubt he’s giving the players complicated instructions that they can’t follow. I genuinely believe he’s going to get it right and we just need to be patient with him. I think it’s important that David Smith clearly sees him as part of the clubs long term plans so there’s definitely faith in him from the board.

  35. In addition to this, there should be no realistic reason, as restrictions are lifted gradually and vaccine uptake increases on a massive scale, for us to ever again be anywhere close to the level of restriction that we've had imposed on us for the past year. I'm still understanding of the restrictions at this point in time and I'm on board with the gradual lifting of them whilst the population are vaccinated - even if that takes several months to fully do so but as we now have a vaccine and treatments, there should be no circumstances where we end up bouncing back and forth through the tiers and having lockdowns held to our collective heads like a gun for 'not behaving'. Once we reach the point where they do decide to end lockdown and we gradually begin dropping down through the tiers, any return to a point where society is again threatened with tightened restrictions or mass closure would be absolutely catastrophic given the constant rhetoric of the vaccine being the saviour of lockdown.

  37. In common with many other SPFL clubs 50 hampers were given to needy members of the community at Xmas. The contents of those didn't come from the public. Schools are shut at the moment and the Breakfast Club isn't allowed to run, nor is community football coaching. Even when they were open before Xmas Breakfast Club wasn't permitted to operate. There's a limit to what else we could be doing at the moment.

  38. There's no doubt that some of the abuse that Neil Lennon has received has been sectarian abuse because he's an Irish Catholic. There's also no doubt that some of the abuse he receives is not sectarian, and is because he's a deeply unpleasant person who has done deeply unpleasant things. Trying to say it's all one kind or the other is clearly wrong, and trying to work out what proportion of it is sectarian and what isn't is a completely pointless endeavour, because it's impossible to answer. The Old Firm both have a much bigger problem with sectarianism than other clubs, but it's wild to me that there are fans of other clubs that don't think sectarian abuse happens within their fanbase. There are bigots in every single football clubs support. Thinking that this issue is siloed within the Old Firm is a major mistake. To question the veracity of an anecdote about sectarianism on the basis that it can't be true because that type of thing doesn't happen at your club is extremely naive, at best. All good people are engaged in the task of helping to eradicate bigotry, xenophobia and racism from society, but to do so we have to recognise the scale of the task we face. That said, Neil Lennon has a lot of friends in the press. In particular, two of his closest friends in the press actually work at the Herald and the Guardian. The theory that these people have picked an unflattering picture of him to play on anti-Irish or anti-Catholic stereotypes seems very unlikely.

  39. Gideon hoovering up the coke and trolling f**k out the DUP. Glorious. Finally seeing a Tory admit they don’t think the Northern Irish are really British anyway, and that Scotland is a possession to be forced into submission like a colony is surprisingly refreshing.

  40. Then why would Dundee fans have known anything about his background in order to be booing him for nefarious reasons? I mean, he was a fucking nobody, right? I think we can safely file this mewling pish in the "things that never happened" thread See above. Outstanding. So Celtic fans only started booing Shay Logan after he had the cheek to be racially abused by Tonev. Truly the greatest fans in the world
