  1. How on earth have we ended up in the situation where the majority of Scottish football fans hope Rangers (fucking Rangers) win the league by about 40 points?

  2. He has absolutely lost his grip on reality and Celtic either need to get him help or take him out of the firing line for his own good now. Celtic should have put him on gardening leave before today was done. He has utterly misjudged both the mood of the country (granted he probably doesnt care about that) AND the mood of his own support. Even Lawwell in the face of a barrage of criticism reluctantly issued an apology. As soon as he is out in public Lennon come out swinging and retracts most of that apology. He apologises only to Celtic fans who were denied seeing 13 players for two games but he also blames 'ridiculous' rules for that so he isnt really apologising because he thinks they did nothing wrong! Someone in Celtic's media team should have pulled him out of that when it became clear what he was saying. Personally I couldnt care less that they were seen round the pool or having a beer. Not bothered in the slightest. They could be doing that in their houses at home. Nor do I care whether its illegal to take a photo in Dubai. Wind yer neck in Neil. Nobody cares for your victim card. I am concerned about some of the absolute rubbish he talked though. He is deluded.. "Everyone's negative", well apart from the two who are positive anyway! But that shows what world class protocols Celtic have. ONLY two people got it so thats ok. If Celtic didnt have world class protocols they would have had dozens presumably? Gie's peace. Celtic's protocols are no different to everyone else's except they have bigger facilities and their players can afford to travel everywhere alone. They wash their hands, they socially distance, they test weekly. So does everyone else Neil, what magic wand extra world class protection are Celtic offering? Why does he think its 'ridiculous' he and his players have to isolate? Are he and his players exempt from the virus that they dont need to? The evidence of two positives suggests they're not. Indeed the evidence of the 2nd one shows exactly why it was right they did. Does he think he knows better than Chris Witty now? He's ranting about Scotland player behaviour three months ago when infection rates were much lower and the new infectious variants which have caused closure of travel altogether didnt exist. People werent banned from leaving their houses at that time. Its not massively relevant Neil and it misses the point. This was never about Celtic's behaviour, it was about the perception of Celtic's self entitlement to swan off warm weather training when most of their fans can barely leave their gardens! He's a dead man walking and he's brought his departure closer here. Awful lack of awareness.

  3. He says that they've only had 2 cases out of 60-odd that travelled. My schoolboy arithmetic tells me that their per 100,000 rate is over 3333. If Celtic were a town with that rate, they'd be getting a Simpsons-esque dome put over them.

  5. I feel sorry for Celtic tbh. It's not like they could've guessed that appointing Neil Lennon would've brought raving stupidity with it.

  6. Lennon playing to the gallery, unaware that they're not on his side anymore. Absolute moron.

  9. Just listened to the interview in full. Not sure if to be angry, sad, confused or all of the above. To have a manager not just justifying this trip but attacking everyone else is genuinely upsetting. The simple fact is if we didnt go on this ill-advised trip Julien wouldnt have caught covid...end of story. If he is allowed to continue in role any longer after this i fear our moral compass as a club has left the building.

  15. Lennon has always been like this. During his first stint as Celtic manager he played the persecution dog-whistle (tbf it was more like a bugle) whenever he was under any kind of pressure or when his team lost. It was excruciating and irresponsible at the time, I felt, as he was throwing fuel on a fire to distract from his own inadequacies. Anytime his Hibs team were under pressure or not performing as they should he would come out swinging, or would throw his players under the bus, something we've seen a lot from him this season. He is a classless individual who has shown time and time again to be an entitled egomaniac, as well as being a fairly poor coach. All the talk of mental illness actually gives me less sympathy as he hasn't demonstrated any willingness to take responsibility for his behaviour instead, as when he was Hibs boss, using it as a shield to deflect criticism of his character. This article is merely another in a long line of Lennon rants where he attempts to gaslight and deflect rather than make any attempt to understand why others (including the Celtic support) are disappointed and angry with what was, at best, a ludicrously tone deaf trip to Dubai.

  16. The funniest part of the interview has to be Lennon saying “HINDSIGHT’S A WONDERFUL THING”. Yep, who could have possibly foreseen that bundling your entire first team squad (including injured players) into a bus, plane and hotel so that they could spend way more time together than necessary could lead to problems? All the clubs that are actively trying to avoid players being in too much contact with each other are simply out of touch!

  17. Also, Lennon thinks it is remarkable that only two of his players tested positive for covid. That suggests he is surprised it isnt higher. If true, begs the question why the Celtic manager knowingly put his team in harms way by going to Dubai. Not as if this thing has killed over 2 million people in the last year or anything. What a c**t of a human.

  21. The figure for England must be the number done that day whereas figures for rUK must be totals? Northern Ireland is quietly doing very well on vaccine rollout. I believe they've done almost all care homes. Good work from the Bunfields, who will be keen to get back to normal for rioting season this summer.

  23. Well this is quite something. Absolute madness from Lennon. Incredibly irresponsible from him and from Celtic in permitting that. Surely the club would have discussed a party line for when the manager next appeared in front of cameras. It's got everything this. Wastecoatwilly has let nobody on here down with his dementedly partisan response. Lennon's antics are obviously hilarious, but that doesn't make them any less deplorable.

  31. Mr Tickle - Roger Hargreaves. A day in the life of the titular Mr Tickle, who starts his day lazing in bed and then, seemingly with boredom his only motivation, wanders around his town being a total arsehole, disrupting people who are trying to do their jobs. Few escape his wrath: the grocer, teacher, postman and train guard all fall foul of his antics. Even the police are seen as viable targets for Mr Tickle's terrorism. Eventually, again seemingly out of boredom, he goes home and the book ends. It's an intriguing concept but it never really goes anywhere. There's no explanation of how Tickle got such long arms or why he uses them to strike fear into his community rather than getting cats down from trees or helping folk change lightbulbs. It does finish by raising the possibility that every community harbours a Mr Tickle and any of us can become victims of such miscreants. Hargreaves seems to forward the proposition that the higher trust a society is, the more damage can be caused by a sole actor working against it, that like a child raised in pristine conditions, all it takes is one germ to bring the whole thing crashing down. Tickle seems to act with absolute impunity and perhaps here Hargreaves is encouraging us to keep our guard up as a society and remain vigilant against those who threaten the system. I imagine there are many of a right-wing persuasion in places like Sweden who will nod along to this book, having seen their society transformed by those who, like Tickle, look different from them and threaten their way of life. I battered through it in a day and though the book has obvious flaws it's well worth a read.

  32. See I'm of the opinion that Gallagher holds none of the cards. The scenarios for me are: He refuses to play, therefore threatening his chances of making the Euros squad. There's options at centre back and he's not established enough to be a nailed on starter. Factoring in that he's, effectively, got 1.5 years left on a deal we can command a pretty sizeable fee for our club captain and full international player. As much as I don't think we'd be able to get someone of the same quality in at such short notice, we probably would accept a fee. He realises that he does not, in fact, have a gun to his head. Plays a few more games, extends his contract, goes to the Euros, pockets big Kane in June and we all live happily ever after.

  33. We lined up at the start as a 4-3-3 with Erwin as the left forward and McGrath left midfield. However Erwin, almost from kick-off kept running inside to a central position. In fact in the opening minutes he was out where Connolly should be on the right. Connolly started playing deeper as he wasn't getting the ball allowing Erwin to constantly drift inside making it a 4-4-2. As I have mentioned before the players did not seem to know what positions they were playing or were unable to follow instructions. It was a shambles that should have been sorted quickly.

  35. Lennon now criticising anyone who dared to criticise Celtic for travelling to Dubai. Making it clear he’s not apologising to anyone other than his own fans. Complaining about Celtic being unfairly treated. No acknowledgement of the shutdown of the lower leagues and their contribution. The sooner the arsehole is gone the better for Scottish Football......

  37. This barrage of hypocrisy as he calls is not coming just from the media or pundits. Its also coming from the vast majority of Celtic fans who think the trip was wrong He essentially is going up against the fans of his own club. There will only be one winner there. His heads gone completely, hopefully it will soon roll out the door.
