  1. I've only posted a few times, but got a Greggy gif! What do I need to comment to get an Ainsley? Why settle for an Ainsley gif when you can have one of the comedy goal that consigned your rabble to third tier obscurity in the first place?

  2. Par Jr tells me her pal was clearing out her hamster cage last night and scraped all the rodent piss and shite into a Tupperware tub and left it in her kitchen before cleaning it out. This morning when making her packed lunch she chopped up some kiwi and threw it in a Tupperware tub. At lunch she noticed her kiwi tasted a bit rank and realised it was because the kiwi had been marinated in hamster pish and crap.

  4. ..for the Euros need to be told to get themselves so far to f**k. I can't actually see any players doing this though, but can almost already see the tabloids running incessant articles and campaigns to get guys like Scott Brown and Allan McGregor in the squad. We don't need any of them and I think the manager wouldn't pick them anyway.

  8. They can fire stuff like this in the bin. They can't decide it's definitely hospitality etc that is the issue because people went out in the previous 7 days, but that it is unproven and difficult to apply the same criteria to a scenario where a person goes to the same place for 5 days in the same time frame. It staggers me that not only do they think it's ok to peddle pish like that, but that journalists and large swathes of the public accept it. Inconsistancies like that could be overlooked if A) the restrictions in place were having an obvious positive effect, and B) we were talking about a month's worth of them, not about to enter the 9th month with the end not in sight anytime soon.

  12. Lets be honest tier 4 isnt going to make any shred of difference, people dingying the rules are still going to dingy them. Theres too much apathy to sticking to the rules. Schools are obviously a factor, i cannot fathom why they cant get every secondary pupil to wear masks etc, seeing the kids gather in massive groups outside the schools in renfrew etc, why are they being allowed to go out at lunch times? Bring a packed lunch or school dinner, minimise the risk of community transmission. Scrap the exceptions for wearing masks to all but those deemed clinically necessary and start issuing fines.

Everyone not otherwise stated: *sobbing joyfully for reasons they can't comprehend* Nobody at all: McGregor and Brown need to get back into this squad. Baracus mate, just enjoy the moment. If there is ever a danger of Broony or McGregor getting back into the squad (there absolutely isn't) then let's deal with that when it comes. In the mean time, my neighbours haven't heard enough about my capacity and capabilities with regard to "boogie". I'm awa to keep them updated.

  19. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/health-54937486 Full article is here. https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/conditionsanddiseases/bulletins/coronaviruscovid19infectionsurveypilot/13november2020#age-analysis-of-the-number-of-people-in-england-who-had-covid-19 ONS study that is one or the article sources is here. It should be noted from the article and ONS study that: 1) they are careful to note that how much transmission is from the classroom is "unproven and difficult to establish" and further that "The review made clear it was not possible to separate contacts in school from contacts around school including travelling to and from, and socialising afterwards." 2) That there was "significant educational, developmental and mental health harms from schools being closed" 3) That the primary school age positivity rates seem to have plateaued at a lower level, earlier than secondary school kids which seems consistent with earlier data that younger children don't seem to catch it as much. 4) there appears to be no greater risk of catching it as a school teacher as opposed to any other adult group. 5) That there was signs of increase in prevelance in the general population before the schools went back. Taken together there is enough wiggle room in those conclusions for policy makers to keep the schools going. They can point to increased care in and around schools to avoid mixing - in Scotland tier 3 areas older age kids (16 and over?) Need to wear masks now in classrooms. As well as pointing out that other sectors of society are also responsible and that they can modify those to push down infections. point 2 is a bit of a strawman, since up here at least the idea would be to use blended learning, but obviously there are doubts as to how effectively the syllabus can be delivered under that mode, and whether you avoid those severe issues highlighted in the report. from the ONS data, positivity rates in schools have dropped since the English half term, it will be interesting to see if that starts to creep up in the next week again, or whether it has broken enough infection chains to make it harder to re-establish in short time frames. the idea seems to be that they can find enough R value drops elsewhere to get the virus under control without disrupting the schools. They might not be wrong: R is supposedly, probablistically under 1 now, in Scotland, and test positivity has been slowly dropping to 5.7% in the last day or so. Although several LAs you can clearly see a reduction in decay, and even a rise in the second week of November. it does seem likely that they could go to blended learning and break some of the infection chains sooner. Again though, household mixing rules were more severe in large parts of Scotland for longer, so it may be that breaking the chains there is effective enough, if not optimal from a purely public health point of view. having said that, I do think they should have put the 16+ age groups into blended learning at least until January. They should have been planning for it as soon as it became obvious how easy it was spreading through Uni halls, and they should have put that plan in place over the October break. I was disappointed but not surprised that they didn't. The rest of the school cohort you could leave unaffected and I think, based on the data, that you would reduce the majority of risk. Blended learning is one of two levers they have left. The other is retail. Blended learning they would need to roll out nationally. Given that there are real concerns that blended learning would have negative effects on children's life chances, and given that Covid seems to have a far worse preveleance in higher deprivation areas, and that there is already an educational bias in terms of outcomes vs deprivation, then doing blended learning in the tier system would be likely to only further bake in that bias. Retail you can modify by tier, and that's basically the tier 4 lever. I am concerned that, despite large changes in shopping behaviour towards online retail, that as we enter into the busiest shopping period of the year, the liklihood of driving large case loads in that sector becomes inevitable unless you can drive base case loads down enough to weather that effect. Given you'd probably need to stay in tier 4 for at least a couple of weeks we are getting near to the point where you can no longer deploy tier 4 without absolutely fucking the retail sector over. so, tl;dr? I still don't think they should shut schools, and I don't think blended learning is necessary across all age groups. I do think it is desirable for the older groups to go into blended learning, yet they are the cohorts with the most to lose, given they are at the sharp end of their school education. We seem to have a precarious hold on the virus but that won't last unless we do something else quickly to weather Christmas. So it's either modify the schools now, or shut retail for a couple of weeks or both, unless they can get mass testing up here fast, like in Liverpool to find and remove infections quickly.

  20. I was in p7 when we nearly qualified for Euro 2008 and picked Fletcher as my hero in a class project, largely as he was Scottish, played for a big club, from the same town as my dad and a midfielder like me. As I grew older he really earned that reputation as he became (in my opinion) one of the best in the world in his position then battled back from horrendous illness to play many times for his country. He is always one of the more interesting pundits to listen to I think and I hope he becomes heavily involved in Scottish football. McFadden for anyone who's grown up this century was the most enjoyable player to watch by a mile. I'd only just started watching football when he had that red streak through his hair at Motherwell and wanted the same for myself. Everyone will always remember the goal in France but I recently watched the Ukraine game back and as well as his goal he generally held the ball up brilliantly, bringing others into play and winning free kicks with his skill and nous. The players who qualified us are legends but those two analysing the game was fitting for me. They both deserved to play at a tournament themselves but were just so elated at the current group succeeding. I might just get that red streak now.

  21. Strachan on sportsound earlier: David Currie: "Watching Lyndon Dykes, did it make you wish you had him to call upon during your time in charge?" Strachan: "No, because we had Chris Martin." Sums him up. Can't possibly be wrong about anything, ever. (Martin was useful, but only a stubborn p***k would answer no to that question).

  31. Coffee and cake out isn't essential either, but is allowed. Education is essential, but it's not essential that it takes place in a traditional classroom. I'm not sure where you get the idea that i'm foaming at the mouth about not being able to go for a pint. I'm perfectly happy to, and capable of, drinking at home. At least there I can listen to music as well. My main gripe is the utterly inconsistant, arbitrary application of restrictions, and subsequent refusal to consider that the path they are taking may be leading them away from their desired destination, rather than towards it.

  32. We made it, we fucking done it....This weeks final tables are brought to you by Steve Clark Band - Copperhead Road James Villa Holiday League @Arch Stanton rises from the dead to collect his 11th top gong, with the Bolivian in 2nd @WhiteRoseKilie, well played have a beer on me. @Silky Si McFly (holder) & @scottmcleanscontacts will compete in the Europa Cup @MSU & @alang1993 in the Mugs Cup Snakes belly region, we have @Salvo Montalbano missing class on Thursday, @Helpma missing brains all week & @Eednud just doing his usual, missing the Teletext. @Leeds Saint his sins maybe answered if he gets the playoff question correct. Teletext Holiday League @Geaky in the winners stable with his 4th second tier championship (not showing). @The DA is runner up and up he goes. 3 way tie for 3rd place and very important as they all face each other in a playoff to see who goes up automatically, whos in the big play off and who does a Serbia and is forgotten about. Down at the exhaust end of the league @Adamski needs to find another gig. @Ross. slaloms downwards @101 falls @The Hologram needs to catch a prize in the playoff. Club 18-30 Holiday League @Tynierose is back, getting beat by the wife, he returns to beat the club. 3rd Diddy Title for him. @pleslie99 finding a bit of Dumbarton form and @BigBo10 on Monday makes the final spot. They all rise. @ArmadaleKillie been waiting for his chance for a few weeks now, he got it, playoff time. Wooden spoon was up for grabs this week with £50 donation hanging on the line. It's shared between the P&B dunderheids @Jacksgranda and @SlipperyP. I being a gentleman, will hand @Tynierose cash to @Jacksgranda for his choice I'm sure he will select a great charity, while he can hand me the wooden spoon. Seems fair. Playoff comes after my dinner.

  33. Still not getting it. Lunch Out / Pint = non essential Education = essential No one bar the SG (not even me) is saying school isn't fuelling transmission but it's been deemed a necessary risk worth taking. No idea why a clique on here are so determined to have the SG admit this, in my eyes admission makes little difference as it's the correct policy to pursue. To be honest I wish they would then you guys would be forced to show your real gripe (it really isn't the fact the SG won't admit it's a calculated risk as Todd yet again illustrates beautifully) In reality school doesn't have that long to go. Courses will be wrapped come Easter and that is 3 x 5 week blocks away with 2 x 2 week breaks which will help. I love how it keeps you guys frothing though yet you still keep trying to claim it's nothing to do with your inability to go eating and bevvying whilst constantly (like Todd again) making that comparison to blow your argument out the water. Schools might well go blended at some stage and if they do we will see very little reduction from it.

  35. Clone Wars is great and up until now maybe the best Star Wars project outside of this bear's undying love for Knights of the Old Republic 2. Rebels is not as good but contains some really great episodes. The Vader meeting an old apprentice episode is one of the best Star Wars moments, IMO. If the size of Clone Wars is a bit daunting then here's a decent primer of the must-watch episodes - https://www.kotaku.com.au/2020/10/the-essential-clone-wars-episodes-every-star-wars-fan-should-watch/ Where I got that list from also added this to the post: Season 1 episode 11 “Dooku Captured” - first appearance of the man, the myth, the legend Hondo Ohnaka, when he captures Dooku and tries to ransom him to the Republic. Season 2 episode 17 “Bounty Hunters” - Obi-Wan, Anakin and Ahsoka do Seven Samurai with the help of some cool bounty hunters and its great, plus it features my man Hondo Ohnaka. Season 3 episode 6 “The Academy” - Ahsoka goes to teach some Mandalorian kids about the concept of government corruption. A couple things from this are very important for the Mandalore storylines so no idea why they left it off the list. Season 4 episodes 6-9, “The Gathering”, “A Test of Strength”, “Bound for Rescue” and “A Necessary Bond” - Ahsoka leads a group of young Jedi on a ritual to build their lightsabers. These ones aren’t really important but are fun, contain Hondo, and have some good character moments for Ahsoka. I watched it all though during lockdown and I'm glad I did as it's a genuinely great military sci-fi hiding behind kids show animation. There's an episode of the show where the central tension is clearly lifted from the Bolshevik execution of the Tsar and his family while the Czech Legion storm towards Ekaterinburg! Who expected that in a Star Wars show? Not me anyway. Also the final season's final arc is essentially a multi-episode movie set alongside the events of Episode 3 and is great.

  39. It reminds me of watching teams like Iceland qualifying, doing well at tournaments etc. Not exactly the best team on the planet, but it shows that if you stick with a system and have belief in your system (I’m looking at Clarke picking Gallagher for example over McKenna and Palmer) and knowing they will give you everything, it can happen. Serbia were utter shite thankfully but even if they played well, we were always going to be in there. I didn’t realise Superscoreboard did a 6 hour special last night and I listened to it tonight. Absolutely fantastic. 88 minutes in for Marshall’s save. https://open.spotify.com/episode/2mLjmj1qOmkn4qx79Wcka9?si=GXbwzmV1Tbaywy0ZGAh5AQ I’m only 27 and this is the first time I’ll see our country play at a major tournament. 41. The same SAGE document that says that closing schools would drop the R rate by 0.5 (closing secondary schools alone would contribute a drop of 0.35 FFS) also looks at the impact of restricting outdoor events including 'large gatherings' (Page 4). Its verdict? A probable total reduction of the R rate of, erm, less than 0.05, with 'high confidence' in that assessment as well. It's a near totally irrelevant factor in the outbreak, yet Clownshoes Leitch and the gang have slapped restrictions on them regardless, while letting the obvious infection factory roll along practically unchanged.

  42. Well, it's 09:12 Friday morning, I have had no slept for over 24 hours, as I went to bed at 22:00 for the 02:45 ko. Tossed and turned for an hour and said f**k it I'll just watch some golf before the game, turned on, then turned off. Something was not right, so I just went and sat in the garden with a cup of Scottish Blend tea. I then heard the daughter (2) start to cry, this was around midnight, she usually sleeps the full night. I tried to settler but she was not having it. I took her outside and nursed her to sleep, it took over an hour. The game started and we were in full control, I thought and when we took the lead, I never shouted out (like I usually do), I just sat there in silence, it's around 04:00 at this time. When the equaliser did go in, I did shout "f**k off". I woke my son(8), who came through to ask me what was wrong. He has never watch a Scotland game, as they are always during the night. We took the laptop out the front garden and watched extra time and penalties. It was fantastic that he woke up to experience his father, running round the garden in his boxer shorts at 05:30. Then bursting into tears. I may live over the other side of the world, that doesn't make me feel the hurt and now the happiness just like everyone back in Scotland. What a fucking day/night & now another day.
