  1. I voted no in the Independence referendum back in 2014, not because I don’t want us to be independent, but because I felt we wouldn’t have been able to manage on our own and wasn’t convinced about the SNP party leading us into the unknown. The past few years I’ve sometimes regretted the decision but this whole furlough fiasco is the final straw for me. Get us out this ‘Union’. What a fucking shambles.

  2. Regardless of what your own individual politics are it must be crystal clear that the SG are being pushed into a corner here and I can't see a reason why other than Westminster playing politics and trying to undermine the devolved governments. What a choice to be given/gamble to take: Lockdown now because the furlough scheme has been extended for a month because of rising infection rates in England while new tighter restrictions haven't had a chance to have an impact and/or there is no requirement for a full Scotland wide Lockdown at present Wait until infection rates dictate the need for a full Scotland Lockdown with no guarantee that the furlough scheme will be in place at that indeterminate time It is utterly baffling that devolved governments are being put in the position of having to make that choice. If the furlough scheme is to be extended for a month then there should be no time limit on it. It should be there for the devolved governments to access at a time when they have a clear need of it.

  3. Level 4 becuase there’s money in the budget to pay people to sit at home doing f**k all, nothing to do with safety or case numbers This is a fucking farce

  4. If it was a straight choice between Dunfermline winning the league or Hearts, then let me grow a moustache and call me Norrie. The (temporary, I'm sure) elevation of our dear neighbours would be a small price to pay for the utterly hilarious headloss in Gorgie.

  5. Localised restrictions are far better options at this stage. Even if it means the entire mainland is tier 4, there is no need to have islands lumped in with the rest of us. The goal here should be to allow people to live under as few restrictions as possible without putting undue strain on the health service.

  8. Absolutely ridiculous that UK taxpayers money can be used only to provide furlough when it suits England, it's beyond contempt that Scotland may be forced into tighter restrictions when they might not be most needed simply because the keeper of the purse strings says you can only access what our tax payers are contributing to when it suits England. This is real rock and a hard place stuff for the SG.

  9. Talk me through why it’s “obvious”. Wales lockdown - no JRS England lockdown - JRS JRS only available if England decides for its purposes that a lockdown is necessary. If Scotland, Wales or NI make the same decision, no JRS is available.

  11. I have a thought.....shite is happening again. As the siting chairman, guy that punches the numbers, while you wait for the results, takes the PM and works my sexy legs off for you all. I propose a Platinum Membership for the myself. (only while I a the Chairman) I don't have clue what that means, I will only use it while sitting. Reason I ask....I have many contacts, for the quiz, why they see I only have 1 strip, they wave me away....if I was plat @Div I could do it myself, however, it would cost the same as 4 weeks rice for the kids.. Green if you like

  14. In that circumstance, there is no choice to be made. The rate is slowing/flatlining in Scotland currently, so whilst there may be a need to step to tier 4 in certain local areas, there's currently absolutely no need for a nationwide lockdown and foisting one upon the entire country just because there's money available to do so is fucking ludicrous. I wholly agree with the overarching point you've made though. That money should be there for a devolved government at any point national restrictions are needed rather than forcing them to do so if and when England are doing it and only then.

  16. When even the leader of the Scottish Conservatives is shouting that it’s a problem, you need to be pretty fucking staunch to defend it. Scotland and indeed every area of the UK should have access to the furlough scheme if lockdown is needed, whenever lockdown is needed. It’s quite something that that needs to be said. The UK Government openly mocked the firebreak in Wales, and refused to give additional support. Point being, England was unaffected by the response of Wales - only a genuine lunatic could argue that Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland should therefore be affected by the response of England.

  18. Just seen that Nesbit played on Saturday despite his dad passing on Wednesday. On any other day, he could have been the hero and nobody could have grudged him it at all. As long as he keeps going the way he is he’ll soon be doing his dad proud while wearing a Scotland jersey. Hope he gets all the support and more he might need in a hard time.

  20. An ICU capacity of 40 for a region of over 650,000 is scandalous tbh. When this is done, maybe we should be asking questions of the SG with regards to why they have spent 13 years prioritising and chucking money at things such as free bus travel for over 55s (and there was a suggestion this should be extended to include under 18s also) rather than investing in making our NHS fit for purpose.

  23. It's been a long 8-9 months of crippling frustration and apathy that thanks to that game all came to the surface for me. I've hardly watched any football this year, such has been my disillusionment with the game. I've stayed off pnb because it wasn't great reading from my side, still holding onto it after reading and honestly didn't want to make a bigger c**t of myself than I usually do in responding and took a step back. I could not watch any football. I hardly watched any EPL in the first place, the CL didn't even have that edge that usually engages me once it hits the knockout stage. I tried to watch Aberdeen/Rangers game with pals at the start of the season, but it was background noise to me throughout. I decided to try and break my duck and watched the Hibs/rangers game in a pub with Hibs fans around me and that was the first time I found myself really missing that feeling and being jealous of Hibs that they had games to play in. Just missing that feeling on engagement and elation when they went ahead and made it 2-2. So come 4pm, my entire emotional stake ended up going from hardly anything at all to full throttle, crippling anxiety once the teamsheets came out. Usually there's a build up and anticipation, over weeks of engagement. This feeling caught me off guard. Not even the Dundee match came close to bringing that out. That game was blur of tension that honestly shot my nerves so far to f**k that I still find myself shaking thinking about it now. How Nesbit should have buried that header, Boyce's one on one, and the pure resignation that it was fucked the moment Hibs were awarded that penalty. I honestly don't whether it's because it has been so long since being emotionally invested in a game like that or I was simply out of practice, it felt almost too much at times. I hated feeling like that. I loved feeling like that. I guess I'm just glad that after the best part of a year, of which there were times I truly was so resigned that the thought chucking football all together had crossed my mind, I still cared, and that I cared that much.

  28. Mate I'd really love to help you understand this but I really have no idea what point you're trying to make. Scottish football is following the COVID-19 protocols as established by the JRG. These protocols require any player who is in contact with a confirmed case of COVID to self-isolate for 14 days. This is regardless of how many negative tests they have - you could theoretically have consistently negative tests from Day 1 to Day 13 before getting a positive on Day 14 (it's unlikely, but it is possible). We don't completely know what's in the protocols because they've never been published, but that much we do know. I don't know exactly what protocols English football teams are following, but it's possible that they follow a 10 day rule on the basis that the likelihood of a positive test coming up after 10 days of isolation is small. There's no right or wrong answer to this - it's all about what level of risk each set of decision makers are comfortable with. Scotland has gone for the most stringent measures possible, which is perfectly fine. England clearly feels the level of risk is acceptable when combined with the other control measures they have in place.

  29. Well known demographics show that Thistle fans have an average household of 163 people - that's why we were Partick Thistle : Family Club for a bit earlier this year. My honest opinion is the guy made a typo, if you'd said 600 streams I'd have still thought that was high but could have accepted it.

  31. I think the fears about getting kids to wear masks are misplaced. If you explain something clearly to a kid they'll likely go along with it, the ones who throw a strop about it are just younger versions of the adults who throw a strop about it. f**k them. Half of the kids probably love running around looking like Bane too.

  34. so what is your solution to this issue? Do we continue to allow Westminster to spend Scottish, Welsh, N Irish and English tax income on an English only furlough scheme. As things stand, this is the reality of life in an unequal union
    5 points
  35. So the availability of JRS in Scotland, Wales and NI is driven entirely by infection rates in England? Cool. If you have Douglas Ross and the STUC joined at the hip on an issue that's quite something.

  36. More nonsense from Sridhar: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/nov/01/suppress-covid-england-lockdown-east-asian-african Those most responsible for causing the debate about the seriousness of Covid are in fact clowns like Sridhar herself - who believe that picking their pet interests to magically protect during a global pandemic is going to fly with those on the receiving end of utterly pointless restrictions instead. Not to mention that sacrificing everything else 'to save schools' acheives none of the other collective goals but instead ensures more infections, more deaths, poorer healthcare and an economy on government life support yet again.
