  1. For christ sake, being offered a sizeable amount of money for a minority shareholding from a source that has a proven track record, no strings attached. WTF. What kind of idiot objects to that? Sometimes I hate the mentality of some of our support. If the Rawlings investment doesn't happen due to opposition from these people then we deserve to stagnate in the bottom rungs of Scottish football and be the laughingstock we deserve to be.

  2. In which of the unusually bad flu seasons did we have 45,000 deaths. In the summer. Where we had to implement a strict lockdown to stop ICU units being overwhelmed? What's your evidence for IFR of COVID being in the same ballpark as flu given most reports now seem to be coalescing between 10-20 times higher. Even the IFR was the same the R number for COVID is much higher than seasonal flu. By all means criticise govt policy in handling the outbreak but anyone questioning the seriousness of the disease is a gold plated moron.

  3. Rawlins took Stoke to established Premiership club and established Orlando from a minor league team to an established MLS side managing to capture Kaka wants fan and local involvement in the club, has a sh*t load of contacts in football. MC had a taxi firm in Bexley, recovering M and M addict bribe of fans tickets to a keane concert (Keane ffs), does well in the coffee business with no actual coffee shops, couldnt explain where the money to buy the club was coming from, sexual harrassment allegations, had a property empire in the us but couldnt mention the property he sold its not anywhere close to MC again.

  4. I really can’t understand why people would not want this to pass. Not just for the Rawlins money, but Phil’s knowledge as well would be crucial. He’s got clear pedigree with Stoke and in America. Utterly baffling if you vote against this and then claim “to want the best for the club”.

  5. Raith TV are head and shoulders the best thing about the club over the last 4 or 5 years. And to think it’s all done by volunteers giving up their spare time makes it even more impressive. The matchday stream is absolutely superb.

  10. What you have to realise, DA, is that no two peoples lives pan out exactly the same, and comparing yourself to others, or measuring yourself against their perceived success/happiness is a completely futile and pointless exercise. I know from your posts on here that you struggle from time to time, but your posting style lends me to think that you are a thoroughly decent guy with a lot to offer. I stopped giving a single f**k about anyone else's riches and boasts long ago, and believe me your life and mental state is so much better for it. Facebook and the likes are cesspits of 'look at me' arseholes and sad fucks desperate to keep up with the Jones's. Half of them are in unhappy relationships and mired in debt, all to keep up the pretence of their perceived perfect life. It's all bullshit and best avoided. I have only a few long time friends that I keep in touch with occasionally, then my football group who meet up for a few beers at home games and have a couple of away days throughout the season for a blowout (in normal seasons anyway). Other than that I'm as happy as a pig in shit at home in my wee man cave or out for an occasional meal with the wife. Find a career or hobby you really want to pursue and focus on that, and on your physical and mental health. Being an adult is just another perception or myth. Two years ago, at the age of 45 and after years of bouncing from job to job, I finally landed a responsible position that pays fairly well , but as soon as I'm off duty I'm just the same dickhead with a juvenile sense of humour that I've always been. Focus on you and no-one else, bin the 'being an adult' mindset and pointless comparisons. Things will fall into place when you least expect it, I guarantee you.

  13. Come on man, it's a sitcom about a group of friends in their 20's navigating being single, not having much money and adjusting to being adults. They are flawed and behave cuntishly at times, like all humans. Also, it's a sitcom FFS.

  14. If you need commandments from a book written by people who didn't know where the sun went at night in order to go through life and not be a c*nt, you're probably a massive c*nt. In the modern era of rapidly developing science, religion has been shown up to be nothing more than a manmade vehicle of population control, financial exploitation and excuse for war.

  15. Roberts qualifications for being a manager were, he played for a few clubs and was a professional footballer for 20 years. Like a lot of managers he was a "well kent face" who got a job simply by the fact he was at a club when the previous manager left. Daziel was in a similar situation to Roberts. The difference in performance between the last game of Stainrods reign and Daziels was night and day, we started to play football. Daziel "progressed" from getting a great tune out of mediocre players to getting a mediocre tune out of great players and was hated by the majority of the support towards the end. Once players became fans favorites, Daziel seemed to fall out with them and they were gone. Reid transformed a team destined for relegation in to a top 3 team almost within a month of taking over. Reid made Ayr a yo-yo team when other managers around that time had made us a below average league one team. Roberts took Reid's legacy and gradually made us worse. Cameron's naivety and Roberts inability could have turned Ayr in to a Stirling Albion or a Clyde, Both of whom were decent, well supported, established teams 20 years ago. The reliance on signing players who were a good laugh and fitted in, the team spirit over technical ability didn't work. Robert's managerial legacy at Ayr is almost an accident. Signing dreadful midfielders meant Crawford getting a run in the team. He played Forrest out of necessity more than would have likely happened at any other time. The signing policy of Reid and Roberts was very much a case of hoping they would do a job for 6-8 months. Had we the same policy now, this summer we would have been looking at the same caliber of players that we free'd last summer. Ian McCall taking over at Ayr will be remembered in the future as as a pivotal moment in Ayr's history in the same way the MacLeod era was. I don't think it is any coincidence that Ayr became a decent side when McCall took over. Cameron was a shrewd chairman, maybe too cautious. McCall was the manager of Morton during their crisis, Airdrie, Clydebank......If anyone knew how to get a team performing with no money it was McCall. I think his guidance helped Cameron over the last few years. Kerr has a better footballing CV than Roberts and has a better educated owner now. The clubs philosophy appears to be that we look after the players in the hope that they will be loyal to the club. It looks like we have a plan beyond the end of the current season. McCardle is a different aspect than we have had before also. The signings over the last year have been in part good, like Walsh, obscure like the keeper or inspired like Chalmers. I don't remember any fan saying over the summer, I hope we sign Joe Chalmers, yet he has been absolute velvet since he signed. The jury is still out on Kerr as a manager because he hasn't won anything or bettered anything we have achieved in recent times. Not getting to the play-offs would be seen as a failure, finishing 3rd or 4th would be Meh. first or second would be a real success based on the amount of cash that was flung at the last time it happened. With a small squad it will be more challenging but after a year, I don't have the same reservations I did with Roberts.

  16. Luna with her new front clip harness, will edit this post after the walk to see if it makes any difference with her pulling. After walk edit: WHY ON EARTH DID I NOT BUY THIS SOONER?! Virtually no pulling whatsoever even when she tried to pull she couldn't. Would highly recommend one of these harnesses, will post a link if anyone is interested.

  17. I must say that Gows return in a vaguely defined executive role and subsequent efforts to recast himself as a 'former fan favourite' and apparent fan of the club (neither of which are my recollection from the time) makes more sense now. As a non shareholder Ive no horse in this race, but as a fan Im concerned less by the motivations (bottom line is everyone wants to make money) and more about the character and ability of those vying for control here. On the face of it the Rawlins come over well, have the money to invest and a proven track record of successfully developing football clubs. The Gow consortium I know really nothing about, and he himself has not been particularly prominent since his appointment. What I would say is that this is a great opportunity for smaller shareholders to stick the boot in to some of the larger shareholders who have castigated the fanbase repeatedly and taken that support for granted on many occasions in the recent past. You know, without wanting to send too petty about it

  18. If the Rawlings plan on the table was a takeover I could understand some people having worries. But it's not. They are throwing money at the club for a less than controlling share in the club with the long term plan of increasing the value of their investment as the team get more successful. There are NO downsides. The detractors must be relatives of Alan Gow. Speaking of Gow, get him out of the club. It seems to me he is only there for what he can get for himself.

  19. I genuinely don't know why blinkered bigots like him post on these types of forums. It cant be for trolling really if you are constantly posting rambling word salads and generally making a rip roaring c**t of yourself. I like talking about not just Celtic but also Scottish football in general so cant be arsed with the biased paranoia pish I get on Celtic forums so feel more at home here. To be fair the likes of AJF, they seem to just want to do the same from that side.

  23. Just to be clear about one thing: the AGM isn’t being asked to rubber stamp the Rawlins and reject Gow, or anyone else. All they’re voting for is to allow the club to issue more shares. That in turn would allow the Rawlins to invest as they’ve said they want to do. But it would also allow fans and anyone else to do the same. Rawlins at least has faced up his offer. If Gow and associates are interested, he’s had plenty of opportunity to do the same. Voting down the share issue stops any of that.

  33. It always amazes me that folk have a pop at the committee, like all committees they do not always get it right and decision making for any committee is about judgment and timing. Sometimes its right, sometimes it aint. However all those who think they can run it better and find the endless pots of money to throw at players never seem prepared to step forward at AGM's. I have been going to them for 20 odd years and cannot recall anyone putting in a challenge to the chair or any others to become part of it. So unless you are going to stick your head above the parapet I suggest you accept it and get on with it. Well documented reasons why we have struggled financially and on the park whilst also competing with higher budgets in lower leagues in central belt. You'd have to ask them where they get there money from. There is changes coming and if you were at the special meeting in December and the AGM you would know what these are. I too am fed up with the playing side and how it has panned out over the last few years. Think all part time clubs are a few poor decisions away from disaster - it is a fine line. Remember the committee have overseen the last 20 years - did you praise them when it was all going nicely?

  39. You do realise that "have had" is past tense? As in, I no longer believe it to be the case? Also, by starting the sentence with "now", this clearly implies that I believe things have changed. If I simplify it for you by saying: The reason that Celtic have remained successful is because they have had a deeper squad than us with better players due to the financial gap. Now, I do not believe that the quality and depth is significantly greater than ours. Does that make it easier for you?
