  2. A big favourite of the genre is going into some wee bunker like the Bier Halle and coming out again, absolutely ripped with zero idea of the time, and finding it to be broad daylight and still filled with shoppers

  6. The public will start turning on each other if there are violations of any measures. The narrative has been well embedded that it's "scum" breaking the rules who are causing any flare ups, rather a government who have used the last 6 months to put in place the square root of bugger all in terms of building out infrastructure or control.

  7. Can I shock you? I like Falkirk Football Club. I mean, there's a couple of you on here who think you should be Premiership top 6 every season, but overall you're good cunts imo.

  8. "On Jeremy Vine at lunchtime, we ask 'is climate change real'? We'll be speaking to :Professor George McWeather, holder of two PhDs in meteorology, who says it definitely is real; and John McGammon, a 'man with a van' from Pontefract who says it can't possibly be happening because it was snowing last February."

  9. For the first time during this pandemic i think I'm against the government response to this. Going back into lockdown seems like such a heavy handed move, and I reckon it won't be complied with by a large minority of people (rendering it much less effective). Surely we have to plug away with the system we've got. It's not ideal, but masks and other measures are keeping the spread lower than it would be otherwise. On top of that, our hospitals are much better placed to deal with the patients who do arrive. I just don't think the public will support this.

  13. Given the age of our support, I do wonder if many of them will struggle to connect to the stream in the first place. We might need a C&G style presentation down the stadium, but instead of "rail safety" for kids it's "how to watch a stream online" for doddery auld folks.

  14. I'm sorry to hear that buddy . Just remember though that there are people out there who care for you and think that you're awesome! Somerset Park is by all means a great place to avoid the stress and harshities of life, from a social aspect it is essential to many people. I understand that. Just please Remember to love yourself in equal measure to your neighbours (Except Kilmarnock! Worlds worst neighbours.) You and your mind might not always agree, but trust me it's the best tool we, as humans have at our disposal. So when you are feeling down, just remember that this won't last forever. We will at one point return to Somerset and see the Super once again

  17. I'm admittedly a Gogic stan but the hype from Hibs fans seems to mostly be folk saying he's improved us a lot. It would be hard to argue against that being the case. The same defence, apart from an 18 year old left back in for Stevenson, has gone from conceding 49 goals in 30 games to 5 in 8, with zero conceded in open play before yesterday. The one time he hasn't played this year, the midfield was abject. The defenders deserve credit for individually improving but if you'd watched Hanlon and Porteous constantly charging into no man's land to try and cover the midfield for two years, you'd get why we're excited by a good DM for this level. I don't think any of us rate him so highly that we don't expect Rangers to create chances while he's playing but yesterday was a million times better than the shite performances from Hibs v Rangers last year.

  21. I'll admit it - I've never liked the Arrochar Alps. Despite there being lots of great hills round there, the general busy-ness and hassle has put me off - so I've totally avoided the area for at least 10 years. I had time for a wild camp this weekend, so based on nothing more than a random picture I saw of a lochan near it's summit, I decided to camp out on The Brack last night. I arrived at Artgarten just as everyone was leaving and once the hilariously steep climb was done (a scramble off a forest road is a new one on me ) - I reached the lochan just as the sun was going down. I got the tent up quickly and ran up the last 100m to the summit to watch the sunset - it was a really nice night.... This was the first non-midge camp I've had in months and it was great to have the tent door open all night - which allowed me to attempt a bit of smartphone astrophotography without getting out my sleeping bag. The Milky way was clearly visible (but not to the phone) despite the light pollution from the Weegiesphere. After a couple of drams, I passed out and had a great sleep - but when I popped my head out the tent at 6am, I got a nice surprise as there was a big cloud inversion. I got up, made myself a coffee and waited for the sun to rise behind Ben Lomond I got the Tent away and had a great wander over to Cnoc Coinnich - the views were outstanding from the summit. After that, a quick stride back to the car had me back at 11:30. The only people I saw on the walk were near the car park - so I had actually managed a quiet walk - maybe the place is growing on me

  22. Ditto. My mental health has been shit for a year now. Lost my Dad in Feb, then lockdown in March. Grieving whilst in lockdown was a struggle. Was looking forward to having a distraction from life with the return of games at Somerset. It’s going to be a long bleak winter for those struggling mentally.

  23. The idea that any ayr united signing should be a guaranteed success is just lunacy. It's an abuse of the English language. Barcelona and Man United don't get to buy 'guaranteed successes'. No club does. At our level we're always going to be taking a fair bit of a risk, and it's down to the management team just how much of a risk they want to take. They could take quite a big gamble with an inexperienced keeper, or play it more safe with an old set of hands. But risk is always involved. Let's not forget that plenty of fans were unhappy when we signed shankland - and look how that turned out. We need to trust the management team, and give whoever is brought in time before we get the knives out.

  35. It is frustrating that there's not any notice of these games but I do understand the reasons for it. Take Partick for example, you've got a fan on their thread admitting they showed up to the ground on Saturday and watched the match from the canal bank and there was another group there watching too. Clubs will be keen to avoid any outbreaks among fans before we're even allowed back in the stadiums as it would almost certainly be confirmation for the Scottish Government that big bad football fans cannot be trusted.

  37. I think we've officially reached peak Sridhar: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/sep/21/local-lockdowns-begin-no-normal-advice-live-with-covid Self-aggrandising, bullshit opening line: check! A bit rich coming from the pundit who was shrieking from the sidelines to shut everything down indefinitely until 'zero Covid' had been achieved everywhere, just a few months ago. Q: Can anyone identify an indoor setting that is typically: - poorly ventilated - crowded and - doesn't require face coverings for 90% of the time spent within it? Perhaps one in which people also have up to thirty close contacts within the same room for up to 30 hours per week? Cue a section of 'but... long Covid!!!' hectoring instead. Note btw that there's once again no evidence provided as to how prevalent these anecdotal cases of long Covid are after nine months of study. It's almost as if they're as insignificant a risk to the healthy population as death from Covid itself. 'Speaking as a scientist' though, Sridhar doesn't actually need fact-based evidence to decide that the currently mythical costs of additional disability in the adult population already justify whatever the government chooses to clamp down on right now! And then we get to the most risible piece of nonsense of it all: First of all, the claim that she makes here about the link between the scheme and infections is utter bollocks. It is based on this back of fag packet effort here: https://theconversation.com/eat-out-to-help-out-crowded-restaurants-may-have-driven-uk-coronavirus-spike-new-findings-145945 that just puts together some terrible graphs while still conceding that "It’s impossible to know what caused" the uptick in infections and the overwhelming of the testing system. A source that one of those "snake-oil pseudo-scientist salesmen" would use rather than the hard scientific evidence that Sridhar is wedded to! But of course there is a much larger reopening of a risky indoor setting that only began in August, was extended to England three weeks ago and has had a direct impact on testing capacity that Sridhar doesn't mention once in her braying lecture about What You Must Accept. I would describe her as a useful idiot for government policy but she has in fact been using the pandemic primarily to move herself up the greasy ladder into a chief government advisor position once Leitch/Whitty/Valance get fatally discredited by the inquiries to come.

  40. Minor heads gone/Absolutely bathered It's absolutely clear that what bothers talentless hacks like Cowan is that places like P&B expose their lazy characterisation of Scottish football fans as utter shite. People like Cowan like to imagine, and portray, football fans in Scotland as sitting talking all day about show ponies like Davie Cooper, the excitement of Old Firm title races and characters like Chick fucking Charnley. They try and characterise people on sites like this as friendless loners and internet weirdos because, like all journalists, they can't deal with the fact that their bullshit had been exposed, that they don't control the narrative and that people in places like this are more informed and more active in Scottish football than people like them who steal a living from the game. For example you will never convince me that it wasn't P&B that got Rangers placed in the 4th tier. The Terrace might not be everyone's cup of tea but people are informed and enthused about Scottish football, at all levels of the SPFL has been a breath of fresh air.
