I agree with this. The much-hyped ‘second wave’ is coming now. There are dozens of reasons that it shouldn’t be as bad as last time, but the most basic ones are people’s behaviour. Cases are rising but not exponentially, quite simply because people aren’t packing into public transport, sitting in massive open-plan offices or standing at the bar in busy pubs. Cases will rise. Hospitalisations will rise. Deaths will rise. None of that is acceptable but at this stage there is absolutely nothing we can do about it, aside from a second lockdown starting tonight. It’s a pandemic. It was never going to be any different. We’re going to need everyone - public, media but especially politicians - to keep calm. Cases won’t keep going up because gyms are open, or small crowds are at football matches. It probably won’t help admittedly but they won’t be the main drivers. If there was a guaranteed vaccine by say January we could maybe just go into hiding until then but there isn’t. We’re all going to have to ‘keep the heid’.7 points

The English cases have been rising at the same rate and their schools haven't been back long enough to make a difference yet but you keep up your pathetic anti school, anti parent, anti teacher baseless soapbox agenda.6 points

Hahaha state of this post. What is wrong with live streaming games if fans aren't allowed to attend? Stick the link to a just giving page in the description and I'm sure a lot of fans watching would donate some cash. It's better than nothing The Shire began live streaming last season and it was great. I moved to Dundee 4 years ago and as such I didn't get the chance to see us play as often. My Saturdays were reduced to looking on twitter for updates or my pals texting me, if the cameraman couldn't make it there would be no highlights so I would never know what happened. Last year the games were livestreamed so if I was free on Saturday afternoon and couldn't make the game I could watch my team play. Obviously it's not the same as being there but for fans that don't live local or can't make the game it is still brilliant. We defeated Civil Service with 2 late goals and it was like we'd won the Champions League the way I was jumping about my house. Fair play to Kelty if they are going to stream, hopefully other clubs follow if they have the resources. On your way troll.6 points

Aye, it's utterly ludicrous da' stuff about McTominay's physical attributes. The boy could probably compete with a horse over marathon distances and run through any of us flabby messes like a fucking steam train. If he's phiscally strong enough to play almsot 30 games for Manchester Utd last season, he's fine for Scotland.6 points

Wasn't a particularly 'brutal' suppression for a few reasons, mainly because the Dubček government was very quick and clear to tell everyone to stay at home and not confront the tanks. The attempted Hungarian Revolution in 1956 was utterly devastating and they tried their best to avoid that, which to be fair they did. By far my favourite act of disobedience was when Czechoslovakia beat the Soviet Union in 1969 at the ice hockey championships, and a bunch of lads went down and panned in the windows of the Aeroflot office. Realise now that this is widely deviating from the fitba chat so might be better to discuss this sort of stuff elsewhere or by PM! I find this stuff very interesting to talk about though.6 points

I wouldn't use these exact words (!), but it's sort of skirting around the point here. It's a lot to do with connotations of the Soviet Union, which Czechoslovakia was never a part of, and the more unstable fallout that happened there after 1992. As there was no such thing as a 'Czech Republic' until the 90s (Lithuania, as the example @DiegoDiego offered, was already its own independent state before the Soviet Union invaded in 1940, so the deeper questions about a national identity have been sidestepped somewhat). Czechs generally disliked being lumped in with the likes of Ukraine, Belarus and so on who they share a very minimal Slavic identify with, and spent a lot of time crafting an identity as a modern, pro-European EU state; and indeed blame the 'Eastern Europeans' for bringing communism to their country anyway. There's a lot of anti-Russian sentiment here, despite Karlový Vary being a playground for rich Russians in the summer. So it's quite a loaded term here, even though the former politics of the country can often be regarded as a direct product of the region. ETA McTominay shouldn't be a CB.6 points

Literally none of that post actually addresses anything I said. Even the bit at the start is you claiming to know what I "want". And to backup your argument, you used a post made by me in relation to the health risk associated with putting kids on school. Completely unrelated to, well anything really. I was not scared for the health of my kids then. I am not scared for their health now. And to further back up your mewling, you have completed fabricated an all powerful "nippy parents" lobby. Who are these parents influencing the government? And why is that that they have seemingly way more influence than actual, not made up in your toothless wee head, massive industries like travel, hospitality and even professional sports having their way with the government? You have somehow managed to build up a few Facebook maws into the malevolent unseen hand guiding the Scottish Government and to be quite honest, its pathetic. You cant actually offer anything to back up your constant mewling about schools going back and you havent addressed what I initially said. Schools are back because they are seen as being essential to a functioning society. So if you care to contend what I posted, that schools are back and football crowds arent because of the cost/benefit of one is vastly different to the other, feel free. If you want to talk about a made up parental bogeyman then by all means direct it elsewhere. Honestly, for someone who seemingly takes pride in being educated, your inability to look beyond the things that you personally want to see getting back to normal is quite amazing. Just re read your post there, and it seems you are suggesting that we can just replace workers who need to loom after their kids with newly available workers who dont have kids. Absolutely gone at that tbh. You are a fucking idiot.6 points

Cheers for that guys your opinions mean a lot lol! 5 trophies in 5 seasons in amateur football. An undefeated league season, being the only team to beat shortlees in their trophy laden season, knocking the ayrshire cup winners out the following season whilst we were in the 3rd division, knocking one of the top contenders for the Scottish out twice in consecutive seasons......if that's clueless I will take it all day long guys lol. Thanks again5 points

Claims that he booked a table for 4 for dinner and the first thing he was asked was "how many households does that involve" and, after saying 2 was told "no problem, we will put you at a round table normally meant for 6." An absolute bullshit conversation that almost certainly did not happen.5 points

No. I don’t buy that for a second. If you can qualify with Kilmarnock players playing for Northern Ireland, you can do it with Arsenal, Man Utd, and Arsenal players for Scotland. Our problem is mentality and tactical setup. We beat France with Stephen Pearson and Gary Teale ffs.5 points

Not this shit again. In that draw with Germany we had Maurice Ross, Steven Pressley, Paul Devlin and Stevie Crawford in the starting XI. Gavin Rae and Steven Thompson came off the bench. You can add Lee Wilkie into the group for the win over the Netherlands. I shouldn't be surprised, but it's incredible that even after these two games where the manager has so obviously got it completely wrong, we still have people saying "it's just the standard of players, it's the worst squad we've ever had, what are managers supposed to do?"4 points

The plan sounded fine. Mrs SL wanted a tall plant for the hall. It would have to be a plastic one as there's not enough natural light for a real plant to survive. So far, so good. Except she got the measurements wrong and the only way this bloody triffid could fit in the hall would be to cut a hole in the ceiling. And now she tells me it would cost more than the purchase price to send it back. I'd pay to send her back right now.4 points

Mrs B once woke me up as I had her in a sort of headlock, and had begun tightening my grip. I had been dreaming about strangling my old PE teacher. Thankfully, she told everyone she knows about this, so the foundations of a credible defence have already been laid for when..... well you know.4 points

Presumably, he’s not actually caring for his mum, but the international breaks will be the only time he gets free to actually see her. I think it’s perfectly reasonable to value that over playing for Scotland.3 points
