  7. Not sure how many of the rumoured signings will actually come to fruition but if we get Fitzpatrick that would be potentially a great signing. Disappointed we went for Buchanan - hope I’m wrong but players that continually fail to impress at consecutive clubs rarely turn it around and in all honesty, a good Championship centre back should have strolled it in League 1 with a team expected to romp away with the title. Happy to see Devine return - came at a bad time last season when the whole team was in free fall but I think he looked promising and will surely only improve. A fit Semple would be a good signing but have no idea how he has looked after himself in lockdown.Glad that we are at least attempting to sign midfielders who can “play a bit” as opposed to honest grafters who struggle to keep the ball. Progress being made if we can get some of these over the line.

  10. I used to work with this guy who would put a post like this on Facebook: “What a day I’ve had today”! We are both ex-pats living far away from home so you would then have all these people worried about him replying with things like “Oh no! what happened”? "Are you OK, have you had an accident”? “What’s wrong, is there anything we can do to help”? It would then come out that he had had nothing more than a flat tyre on his motorbike and he was late for an appointment. He was just a drama queen, craving attention. Why couldn’t he have just posted “Shit day today, got a flat tyre and missed an appointment”? But no, not dramatic enough for him. By the same token, posts like “Some really good news coming our way” and “is it about a sale if so I completely agree” somewhat bug me. If you know something and are at liberty to divulge the info, why not just share it with all of us please, OK? Not too much to ask, I hope? As I said, I am an ex-pat so never likely to be ITK and any news posted on here is appreciated. No offence intended and I hope none taken? Thank you.

  14. He is very popular in Scotland but there are plenty of people who criticise him for “abandoning his routes” after he got famous. I certainly can’t fathom why he’d not want to go back to welding on the shipyards upon discovering fame and fortune and think he owes every working class man woman and child in Scotland an apology for becoming successful.

  15. I'll try not to rant but this does my tits in. "He doesn't like what I like so he's a b*****d". When did we become so pathetic? It's like OF fans who refuse to interact with their rival fans because they are "wan a them".

  16. Good for them. Why should the rest of society continue following their clearly contradictory rules instead of now being able to take their own risks though? Why should a bunch of 17 year olds refrain from congregating in a massive group in a local park at the weekend because Jason Leitch says no, while the same clownshoes figure is more than happy to chuck 30 of them inside a Higher classroom from Monday-Friday? Just because the government and parents think that this is an acceptable trade-off for literally everyone else in the country to make doesn't actually mean that it is the case. As opposed to gyms, outdoor sporting events and countless other businesses and cultural activities that carry an objectively much lower risk of infection? Righto. Let's just put those on the back-burner indefinitely while we pretend that the biggest source of a second outbreak must continue almost unchanged from its pre-pandemic setting for reasons. Can't imagine why that argument is not gaining 100% public compliance right now tbh. Except that the choice isn't actually between 'schooling' and 'not schooling' but rather 'patently unsafe schooling now' or 'reduced, blended learning now; catch-up schooling later'. Literally nobody has suggested that we just patch all education for the sake of the pandemic and never actually carry it out, so you're arguing against a ridiculous straw man here. Tell that to the small business owners up and down the country who will be going bankrupt because the SG is restricting and/or shutting down their sectors of the economy again just because parents don't want to look after their sprogs for a few months. No matter how many times that you repeat this mantra, it just isn't true though.

  21. I’m a single parent. With three decent kids who are all performing well in school. None of them have been in trouble and have good social circles. I can trust them to be polite and behave at friends houses, interact with adults and eat in restaurants of a higher standard than McDonald’s. The life they have now is far more settled and stable to what was going on. But you bang on with your casual stereotyping.

  22. I went with my pal to the St Mirren Ross County game a few years ago that ended 5-4. What a game it was with some excellent goals, one of the games that really sticks in my mind. My pal had a night out in Glasgow to go to after the game and I think it had went 4-2 to County and he stood up to leave so he could go and get ready, I convinced him to stick it out for another 10 minutes and obviously he was glad he did.

  32. Gigantic credit goes to M&M. Obviously knew Alston from their playing days and they seem to have used that to their advantage in getting him in (2 year deal too!). He’s almost too good for any of the champ clubs never mind league 1. Genuine stauner enducing signing

  35. Well no, it didn't really. Nisbet leaving meant we were short of options up to so McGlynn did extra work last Summer with 16 year old Kieron Bowie. Bowie hadn't really had much of an impact before then but had all the attributes. The lad started the season with an excellent vein of form and over the season went from being linked to the likes of Hearts and Dundee United before we settled on a 6 figure sum with Fulham. Had Nisbet never left it wouldn't have happened. We've agreed future clauses depending on performance , and while it will be tough, if he goes on to do decent down there we'll be laughing. In terms of things which have hurt involving Raith Rovers, Nisbet leaving is like stubbing your toe. It a lot at the hurt at the time but you forget about it quite quickly. If we're talking about proper hurt, then it's a laughable incident compared to something like the Anelka or Locke fiascoes which were akin to breaking bones.

  37. The thing that most annoys me about the 'rip it up!' bullshit is that zero consideration is given to how such pitches substantially increase participation and allow such year round. Getting rid of these pitches will leave loads of kids with nowhere to play or at least will greatly reduce how often they can play. The majority of them will most likely be lost to the game in such a scenario. Time and time again we've seen in other countries that increased participation is good for the game and produces more players for the leagues and national team. The feted Iceland model was huge on participation and facilities, yet we have old tossers crying about them and wanting them punted because Sevco drew a game and other silly reasons. Also, just having a place where kids can play sports is great. It gets them active, gives them a place to socialize and might give them an interest in sport. More societal benefits that bitter morons want to get rid of for the most stupid, backwards thinking, insular dickhead reasons.

  39. We're a month and a half away from the Furlough scheme winding up. There will be little opportunity of shutting down anything at that point. Even temporarily shutting down local areas is going to become difficult without tipping businesses into the void. With that in mind, it's particularly important to have schools back and running now. Even if you are of the opinion that parents are self entitled and that far from bothering to adequately educate the next generation, children should be mulched down into protein shakes to provide sustenance for Graduates in the Humanties, there is a simple practical issue associated with the economy, if there isn't a full time education system running. The best the SG can hope for is to try and push the daily infection rates back down a bit, and act to constrain clusters when they are still in single digits, and try and avoid a super spreading event like in Grampian which necessitated a massive backwards step to lockdown. They are currently trying to get testing up to 65,000 a day, and to widen access, well and good. Maybe that means mandatory sample testing at schools on a periodic basis. Maybe masks for everyone in schools (or football grounds) becomes mandatory on a statutory basis. They've tried the honours system and it's been a mixed bag. In order to get everything open on a sustainable basis, drive up consumer demand and limit the spread of the virus to vulnerable groups they will likely have to put a lot more restrictive measures into law, unless they get a working vaccine in the next month or two.

  42. As I've said before the SG have scared people into not understanding the relative risk per age band of Covid-19, the effectiveness of PCR testing, particularly in asymptomatic people, and into believing that all cases are dangerous and deadly. They now want people to forget about all of that, but for school age children only. That won't wash. They have made a complete mess of the messaging throughout, and, however hard they try to focus all the blame on the hospitality sector, it will come back to bite them on the arse with schools. Their credibility is evaporating with each daily briefing.
