  2. "I think Anne had been screaming all day, but it hadn't really registered before. She might have been screaming for a week for all I knew. It's been days since I've heard anyone speak, though surely someone must have said something in all that time, surely to f**k someone must have." Tom: What's wrong, Anne? "Anne points towards the league table, her club was bottom of the league. Leslie follows her directions. Daniel says, 'Calm down, calm down, it's going to be alright, everything is going to be fine'"

  3. A Bairn telling a Jambo that in the midst of a pandemic sometimes we just have to take our medicine, there's more important shit going on. We fucked up by being a point behind with a budget that should have meant we were well ahead, you fucked up by being 4 points behind the second worst team with a budget far greater than the teams immediately above you. Shit happens, a bit of humility would be in order.

  6. Sad, sad news about David Hagen. Terrible. Really grew to like him as a player. Absolutely crucial role in the 97 Scottish Cup run and, along with the likes of Crabbe, Keith, Moss, part of a core of very decent attacking threats in the late 90s under Totten. On his day, could beat a man no problem and knew where the goals were. The kind of player we've been crying out for for far too long.

  7. I’ve signed up. I’m a bit older than most, kids grown up and right now I can afford it, if things change I’d stop. I’m not interested in the free stuff, except the hospitality but no doubt it will be the alcohol free version! I’m not even bothered about what they do with it, if it helps the club survive this difficult time then fine, the yanks have put their hands in their pockets already and will need to continue. They should have done this years ago. It’s free money to the club. I’ve been going for over 40 years, I love it. I want my son to be able to go for decades too. I can well understand how many don’t want to or can’t justify the cost. Tough times all round.

  16. Now you're talking about "main aim". You quite plainly wrote "lockdown was never to prevent deaths" which is palpable nonsense. It can be quite clearly inferred from "stopping the NHS being overwhelmed" = stopping deaths.

  19. I don't know, nearly 50 thousand dead, economy in free fall, potential collapse of lower league football if crowds aren't allowed in and twice weekly testing is required? You know, stuff more important than Hearts getting relegated a few weeks earlier than they would have probably been anyway.

  20. Scotland exceeded ‘normal’ ICU capacity in early April, by upto around 50% at the peak. Only extra ICU beds stopped people dying in corridors, especially in Glasgow. These can’t be magicked up on the spot - it took many crucial services being stopped altogether, extra staff thrown into unfamiliar areas and a lot of money. There seems to be a desire to rewrite history now the worst is over and things are pretty settled at the moment. Without the advance warning we had there is absolutely no question Scotland and indeed the rest of the UK would’ve been just like Lombardy. Even with a few weeks notice we very nearly blew it.

  21. Deary me this fetish for signing former players has reached a ridiculous new depth. 35 year old Wullie Gibson, the retired winger, who hasn't played at this level since 2012, would be a good signing for central midfield? I mean he would be an upgrade on Kidd...

  22. Ooft. Quite the claim before you've even seen them play. A left back you hadnt heard of a week ago and Dario Zanatta who had a really good season with Alloa and a pretty poor one with Thistle. He might be a good signing but Forrest has been one of the best left sided players in the League for a couple of seasons. There is a reason he has gone to the Premiership and Zanatta didnt.

  29. My parent's dugs. The wee scruff monster is Bonnie, a rescue they took on 3 years ago. Been a really hard time with her, she'd come from a couple of really bad situations before including we think a puppy farm and had really bad trust and separation anxiety issues. They've worked so hard with her and she is now a perfectly normal dog, really affectionate but has finally learned that if folk go away they're coming back. the wee one is Pepper, who we got when I was 10. She turned 16 last month. On her last legs a bit, sight and hearing pretty scunnered and no longer up to having a walk or anything but she still plods around the garden and chuck's her ball about in the evening a lot. It's a bit sad as she was a super adventurous and fun dog growing up, but she's had a cracking life and still seems to enjoy herself a fair amount. Eats like a horse as well.

  30. Fair enough, I think the general tone of my post still stands though and whatever the reasons it doesn't change the fact he hasn't kicked a ball for a while. FWIW I hope we can find a role for him as he seemed to turn the fortunes of the reserves around in his short time in charge and as one of the few Queens players to forge a successful career in the game he should be an inspiration to our budding stars. I always found Rooney and Mercer to be an interesting pair. If you could merge the two together you'd have a tremendous player on your hands. Rooney is a real athlete and has all the physical attributes required to be a professional footballer. However I've seen dogs running onto public parks and show more positional awareness chasing the ball than Rooney. John Robertson is a highly experienced and respected coach, so it isn't a huge surprise that he's managed to improve Rooney's game. He was very young and raw when he was with us. Mercer on the other hand seems like your typical limited player who has got where he has through hard work and perseverance. There's a lot to be said for that, and if we'd had a squad of Scott Mercers last season we'd have been in a better state than we were.

  35. I'm not on here to gloat over Bo'ness United having their promotion to the Lowland League confirmed. Instead, I'd like to thank the EOSL, who have given us the chance to move forward considerably in just a couple of years. Not everyone was happy at the time, when the shift from Junior football was made but it had to be done. The BU's were born in the Juniors but if something hadn't been done they may well have died there too. The shift to the Senior game was managed well by the EOSL and having 'normal' fixture-lists and even disciplinary rules have been welcome. I'm old enough to remember when the EOSL used to hirple on with the likes of Hearts & Hibs Colts teams , Postal United & Duns. Now it has mushroomed but has handled this size change admirably and is encouraging new members. I am very glad we have gained promotion this year because it is only going to get harder with the WOSL starting up. I hope some of our old rivals (emphasis on some), make it to the LL soon. Meanwhile, thanks EOSL but I hope we don't see you soon.

  36. As much as I’d rather retain Layne and Hutton, neither of them are irreplaceable. Layne had a good season but he blew very hot and cold and his goals seemed to come in bursts then they’d dry up, he’s also fairly injury prone. Aitken must be jizzing his pants over having a daft budget to spend on all these well known names and getting his ugly wee mug back into the papers. What a horrible wee arsehole of a man. aMbItiOn.

  41. They said she was from Alloa when she wasn't, she lived in Stirling all her life, they put that because they went on a social media post from me and one from my stepson and created a story for online clicks. My location on my Twitter feed is Alloa but my kids live with my ex wife in Stirling. The location thing is relatively minor but it's the fact they rooted through her Facebook profile and took pictures from it, without for a second thinking of contacting us. Me and my family absolutely despise that newspaper and everything it stands for, the hurt and anger this has caused us is indescribable, at a time when we are still grieving the loss of our child. Absolute vermin, I have contacted them demanding someone speaks to me but not holding my breath, b*****ds.
