  1. Is it right for football in this country to continue during a worldwide pandemic, ask players to go to work and train, mix with others, stay in hotels, travel to stadiums, have staff in to run stadiums, mix with others and do other non essential work then go home to their families and potentially spread a non curable virus? The infection rate is low only because we are in lockdown. Once this eases more and people are on the move itll start to spread again - what happens if theres a local lockdown in Edinburgh with 2 games to go and Hearts are 4 points behind? Does the season get extended again for Hearts? Do you put players with health conditions into the awkward position of refusing to work due to health risks? Referees and officials too? Is it right to ask clubs to extend contracts to players when clubs dont know if or when said games will be played due to potential local lockdown restrictions? With no fans at games to support these contracts? Is it right to allow Hearts the chance to sign a(nother) raft of out of contract players to bail them out of a situation that wouldn't have been the case during normal season times and give them an unfair advantage over Hamilton or other teams who couldn't afford to do so? Is it right to put the new Sky deal in jeopardy by letting this season drag on and making next season truncated? Is it right to have teams not compete in Europe as we cant finish the leagues before the cut off periods? Or do we close early, stick to government and health experts advice, dish out final payments to clubs and wait till theres a better time to start football? Its a shite situation. We all know it's not ideal to end the season the way we have but theres really no other bullet proof, guaranteed way to resolve this season without massive loss of cash, clubs and at worst case, lives. I'd be raging if it was United not getting promoted but I'd have a full body minter if my club was doing what Hearts were and I'm pretty sure any other supporter in this country would too. Some people have forgotten why we are in lockdown.

  3. It's essentially people crying about red-dotting. What goes on on twitter isn't necessarily real life to the bulk of the world's population. Rowling or Linehan, for example, are no different to folk on here taking the huff when they get called out for being an obnoxious c**t. Maybe those being "cancelled" need to work on their skills of fostering inclusive debate? Twitter, for example, has (IIRC) a limited number of characters, so if you are to enter into sensitive debate then the main thing you must have is linguistic dexterity. If you simply spout an opinion that is likely to cause anger then you invite the ire of those on the other side. Rowling, for example, wrote books about a Wizard school. Lineham wrote Father Ted (yet sounds an utterly insufferable c**t to work with according to many co-writers these days). Why have they appointed themselves as authorities on issues that have fek all to do with them? It seems like egos out of control that get bruised when suddenly they stray into territory beyond their ken they can't cope when their media feed goes from fawning to vitriol.

  4. The start of the Arbitration meeting. ”Good morning all. Right let’s get to it. Did the SPFL Board do anything that was illegal?” “It’s a “no” from me.” ”It’s a “no” from me as well.” ” I agree. Unanimous decision. Case dismissed. All costs to be met by Hearts and Partick Thistle.”

  6. I won't lie: I utterly fucking LOVE the whole 'spot the unknown player' from the pre-season training session pics. It's a magic time of the year, and I'm not even being sarcastic.
    11 points
  7. Why do you think that is? Could it be that we're not 'lining up behind the SPFL'? What everyone is doing is accepting that this is the least bad way to end the season - the same as 80% of the SPFL club chairmen. Nobody much liked Neil Doncaster before this coronavirus hit, but in comparison to the bile, hypocrisy, stupidity, spite, and outright attacks on the rest of Scottish fitba' coming out of the camp that lost the vote, he's coming across as a relatively reasonable, sane, and measured individual. Despite concocting a lengthy dossier on Neil Doncaster's wrongdoings, you guys somehow managed to make make him look good! Your problem is that you see this as a fight between Hearts and Neil Doncaster. It's not. It's Hearts versus most Scottish football clubs, as well as just the reality of the pandemic. Squeezing enough training to be safe, as well as 8/9 football matches, AND another 2/3 playoffs into 6 weeks, as well as organizing the next season isn't possible, especially since some teams have yet to even recruit players for next season (and when the league was called off, it was unclear that there would even *be* those six weeks). There are a ton of reasons why club chairmen figured the proposal was the best way to end the season, and 'Neil Doncaster hypnotized me into voting for it' was exactly none of them. Neil Doncaster even took Hearts' side on reconstruction. So did Celtic - but that doesn't fit the absurd fantasy of the Kickback delusioneers so it's completely ignored in favour of some absurd 'They all line up to hate us' story that is based on a distorted view of events, and on ignoring the inconvenient facts (It's hard to squeeze out of you guys the salient, possibly case-ending, fact that Dundeegate wasn't where the Premiership season was ended, that came over a month later, and with the assent of Hearts). Your way of looking at the world is completely topsy-turvy agenda-driven distortion of the facts. If you ever wonder how flat earthers or antivaxxers or moon hoax conspiracists can believe the nonsense they do, you know now.

  8. Aye, they did. Maybe you should question why Budge was happy to end the season, and accept relegation, then go straight into a massive PR drive to make the SPFL and other clubs the villains of the piece. You've been completely fucked over by an owner who only cares about salvaging her own image amongst your fans, and she's not only cost you your top flight place through total dereliction of duty, shes now costing you a fortune in legal fees to save face.

  9. Lewis Capaldi is the epitome to me of this "whit ma like" culture that seems to have crept in over the last couple of years. It is some hybrid of Fiat 500 Twitter, Gemma Collins and stereotypically Glasgow ned interests. For example, deifying McDonalds, going on about how much you drink (extra points if in "Spoons"), memes about getting out of bed at 8:58am when you've got a conference call at 9, wearing your "jammies" all day, listening to GBX. It tends to be middle class types who either live in their parents' five bed house in Dullatur if they're under 25, having 20 of their pals round into the conservatory to drink MD or Dragon Soop before they go to Sugar Cube or Kushion on a Saturday, or couples who live in Newton Mearns with the man working offshore if they're a bit older. It's essentially cultural appropriation of working class stereotypes to try and look "funny" or "mental". Capaldi ticks just about every box of this with his online presence and is pandered to for this behaviour by the Red Tops or "Glasgow Live". Well off middle class folk glamourising the scheme lifestyle is a far wider phenomenon but Lewis Capaldi encapsulates it quite neatly for me.

  14. I like to imagine that JKB is like a huge NASA control room. They gather together their best minds to come up with the most salient arguments to equip their most experienced and highly trained poster for the journey to P&B. JKB think that they have launched Apollo 11 & that this will lead to their eternal glory. However, when it arrives at P&B, the reality is more like Apollo 13, a rocket exploding all over the place.

  27. Is "Cancel culture" not just a modern day equivalent to boycotting things you didn't like? South Africa during apartheid for example, was subject to significant public boycotts across a lot of areas. The only real issue I see with the Twitter version is that it seems there is a lot of immaturity involved across the board, and a complete lack of ability/willingness to try and see things from any perspective other than the one that you have decided to come at it from, and there is no room for any grey areas in debate, only absolutism.

  28. You know, this is the kind of attitide that sticks in my throat. We all want football back. Yet teams will flout the rules. All it will take is a few cases in the same team, and football wlll be stopped for longer. Get a grip, follow the rules and we might be back sooner rather than later

  29. It's not his favoured position but it wasn't quite out of necessity either - he ended up playing 2 full seasons at either LWB or LB so it wasn't just a case of filling in because of injury/suspension. He ended up playing on the left after Stevie Hammell retired mid-season and it turned out that him playing there gave us better balance and he was a better option for the position than someone like Stephen Hendrie or Aaron Taylor-Sinclair. We didn't really miss out at RWB/RB as Chris Cadden and Liam Grimshaw were options there. So we just stuck with it until last season when we brought in Jake Carroll. Unfortunately for Tait by that point Grimshaw had made the RB spot his own so he ended up mostly being used as cover for RB/LB.

  34. You are right, you win.... We could have played to a finish allowing Hearts the chance to save themselves , and indeed it is actually all a big conspiracy. The reason it was decided to end the season early, and in the process relegate Hearts, was nothing to do with a global pandemic which is currently in the process of killing hundreds of thousands of people worldwide, and which only now, after months of lockdown, are we finally getting on top of. The season was ended early because everybody fucking hates Hearts, and this was as good an opportunity as any to f**k you right over. Happy?

  35. The attitude of the likes of me? What, like encouraging my team from the start instead of condemning them to defeat before a ball is kicked? Embarrassing and childlike? Yeah because booing every touch is mature and makes you look cool. How on earth did being a so called 'happy clapper' lead us to our demise? If anything it was more to do with the toxic atmosphere at Dens when things aren't going so well. The board might not be perfect but they are the most stable I have seen in nearly 40 years. I would rather be a 'happy clapper' than a miserable doom merchant like you.

  41. All of these ridiculous hurdles to complete the season could have been implemented, Hearts would still finish bottom and would still claim it was unfair to relegate them in such extraordinary circumstances.

  42. Came on this morning to see 10+ new pages, thinking something exciting has happened. What an absolute let down. Mindless ramblings from some roaster who at one point said they don't consider 3 leagues to be multiple leagues. That's the type of logic you need to get around Hearts going down.

  45. And there it is. As a Falkirk fan, I'm disappointed about how things ended up but it is what it is. If Falkirk had their shit together earlier in the season, they would've been going up instead of Raith. But they didn't and they aren't. Hey ho, them's the breaks. Let's get some perspective. Hundreds of thousands of people are dying. Many more will. Many others face an uncertain financial future, many businesses will never re-open, or survive long if they do. This is the biggest global tragedy to have happened in any of our lifetimes. And yet we see people who claim to be football fans actively wishing other teams to go out of business, and scheming to try and make that happen. If you're one of them, seriously...take a good long look at yourself. This applies whether you support Falkirk, Hearts, Sevco or anyone else. Hearts didn't get the job done on the pitch - they're going down. Falkirk didn't get the job done on the pitch - they're staying down. And that's all there is to it.
