  1. I hear Hearts are trying to get that changed to 14

  2. I tend to think at times we overreact to many things in society these days, and are very quick to judge. People can say bad things in the heat of the moment that are outwith their normal character, and should be able to see the error of their ways and not have it cast up for the rest of their lives if they genuinely act with remorse afterwards. But in this case, it would appear that Mackay's wasn't an isolated outburst in a fit of emotion. Regular racist and bigoted messages, thinking they're clever and funny, especially when you're in a position of responsibility and are a bit of a role model for many, goes way beyond what is acceptable. The fact is that a drunken brain dead supporter can shout an abusive comment and be charged by the police, shamed in the national press, quite possibly lose their job and be banned from the ground for life. Yet a coach can do it regularly by text to colleagues, and end up in one of the key jobs in football in Scotland on quarter of a million pounds a year. It's a national embarrasment that he was ever given that job. It's not as if he was even a standout candidate, it was almost a f**k you we'll do what we like appointment. At the start of every match we get read out an insulting statement about how we're not allowed to do certain things such as use racist, sexist or homophobic language, shite on the staircases etc, which we just sit and tolerate every week (the statement). Can you imagine if you went to the cinema or a concert or theatre or whatever and were read a statement telling you not to be racist, sexist, homophobic etc. For the vast majority outwith OF fans it's fucking ridiculous and insulting that we have to put up with it. Yet the very c***s telling us how we should behave like normal civilised human beings are the ones who would hire absolutely anyone, regardless of their morals, or past words and deeds. I have no idea why Utd would even consider hiring him.

  7. Interview with Gary Harkinns in The Herald. https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/18544195.jester-genius-maverick-maestro-gary-harkins-reflects-career-less-ordinary/ “Jackie McNamara and Simon Donnelly tried to sign me for Dundee United when I was leaving Dundee one year and if it had been any other club in Scotland I would have signed for them,” he admitted. “But because I had that affinity with Dundee, I didn’t want to tarnish that. I was thinking that in the years to come if I go into coaching or management or anything like that then Dundee would be a really good place for me to do that, so I didn’t want to tarnish that. “I still get pelters from Simon Donnelly for it now. He’s always telling me that if I’d gone there I would have got a Scotland cap but he’ll no hear any reasoning. He just calls me a big s****bag!” GGH

  8. I like being called Maureens because it reminds me of that time we fucked Dundee United 4-1 and Sir Jim Goodwin elbowed some nobody into an early grave, causing the greatest full club meltdown this forum has ever seen. Dundee United's players, fans, board and official Twitter account never recovered from that fateful day.

  9. I see the use of the word 'misleading' again. Could the conversation have gone something like: LD: Hello successful businesswoman Ann Budge. What can I do for you? AB: Leslie, you're some sort of lawyer and they never did prove that money laundering thing so you're probably okay. Take a look at this letter that's just come from Neil Doncaster LD: Hmmm, these guys are saying that those three clubs are respondents. I've not read the petition, but I'm sure that's wrong and misleading for a start. Wasn't the title just HMFC versus the SPFL? AB: Aha. Well that's good enough for me. I'll speak to Gilson Gray in the morning, but first I'll get the lad who does the website to put up a statement. They'll read it out on Sportsound so the fans will know we're still fighting our corner. Thanks, Leslie. LD: No problem, successful businesswoman Ann Budge.

  10. Hearts only wanted the best for Scottish football, as long as they got what they wanted. We are now told by the fanbase that because they did not get what they wanted they want Scottish football to die and as many clubs as possible to go out of existence simply because they failed to vote in their favour. I take Hearts good intention towards other clubs with a very big pinch of salt given many of the things that have been said. Hearts were looking out for number one exactly the same way every other club does, they just feel unable to admit it. It is however only Hearts supporters wishing the very worst on everyone else highlighting every single club who are struggling through the pandemic and wishing them gone and that’s not to their credit. I don’t have an issue with Hearts feeling hard done by even though they were without doubt the worst team in the division, it’s the behaviour of many of their fans that won’t be forgotten.

  12. The legal points are not unprecedented. The Court are being asked whether a group of minority shareholders have suffered an unfair prejudice. That's a statutory test with plenty of caselaw to guide the Court. Hearts and Thistle clearly have been prejudiced (suffered a detriment) so the question is whether that's unfair. If the Court find that there is unfairness then they look to see what remedy, if any, would be appropriate. United, Rovers and Cove only get involved at that stage in arguing that the remedy shouldn't unfairly prejudice them. I'd say that there's at least three hurdles for Hearts to overcome to get back into the top flight (1. to prove unfairness, 2. to show that the unfairness is sufficiently material to demand a remedy, 3. to somehow convince the Court that a remedy which denies promotion to United, Rovers and Cove - in the immediate short-term lending a new vote - is more fair than leaving things as they are). If they cross the first two hurdles but fall at the third then they might get some cash. Personally I would be very surprised if they even got past the first hurdle. Actually, there's a hurdle before they even get to that first - convincing the Court that it has jurisdiction when the parties have arguably contracted to binding arbitration. I don't see Hearts being punished for this, other than in an award of costs. If the Court orders arbitration then there's been no real prejudice to the SPFL in the action (a minor admin issue). If the Court decides it can hear the case then it doesn't really support an argument that Hearts breached the Articles by raising the case.

  13. Made a couple pizzas tonight. First one is black pudding, jalapenos, prosciutto with rocket and a balsamic glaze. Second one is black pudding, chorizo and jalapenos. Topped both of them with mozzarella and cheddar and a bit of blue cheese.

  14. They all happen to be complet fucking brain donors though. Chick Young in particular. Football, especially the media side, is littered with people who will say what their friends want to hear or what they think a clever person may say. The sweeping majority of ex player managers in Scotland and the wider UK are shite. They've been scooped up at 15 or 16, been sheltered while playing club football and it's all they are ever involved in. They interact with other managers who have been like that before them and they learn the lingo. Get a daft wee A licence from Largs that anyone could probably have a go at and get and the world is their oyster. There are one or two who are clever enough to go on and do well (Steve Clarke, Alex Neil etc) There are a few more who have one lucky break and they get job after job because of it till they get found out. These ones tend to luck out with a decent squad and either cant replace the good players as they leave or organise them in a way that works. Or both (Malky, Pressley, Coyle, Lambert). Then there are the usual zoomers who take almost any job at and hope for the best (John Hughes, Dodds etc) These radio pundits have this "if he played fitba then he kens fitba" mentality. Which is shite for the most part - that's why fans, who watch a game and as long as they are sensible, will see the guy has no idea what hes doing. See McNamara for that one in particular. It's a total lottery who you go for. I'd just prefer the future sacked manager we go for dosent have racist, bigoted, sexist tendencies. Leave them to Rangers and Celtic.

  15. As much as I enjoy ripping the pish it's heartening to see United fans seriously putting the club under pressure over this. Its sad that its had to come to this but a wholehearted 'well done' to those who are standing up and being counted.

  16. AK suggests Pav is signing. New poster signs up and his first two posts are to call bullshit, followed by the sudden reappearance of an account that hasn't posted for 3 years, and only has 10 posts in 9 years. Now, I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but it looks like someone inside the club is trying to murder AK.

  18. I don't actually care whether he meant it or not. If Turnbull had played that exact same ball it would have been unanimously described as absolute perfection and I, for one, would have left instructions in my will that it should be on the anthology DVD to be buried with me, along with O'Neill's rasper and Jutkiewicz's extra-time equaliser. (The "Oh Wow" commentary, of course, but with the BBC version available on the extras disc.)

  19. I genuinely think Falkirk have been hard done by with the league finishing early. However I do think Mr Deans has a bit of a cheek saying other clubs acted with no sporting integrity after his clubs recent record and the fine they had to pay - you can't always get everything your own way.

  20. Needs some sort of OF connection for that. "Ex-Rangers star Haris Vuckic says the Pie & Bovril rumour that Pavol Safranko is set to sign for Dundee United could have huge implications for the title race."

  21. @welshbairnsaw that last night. Seems to me that Budge and Jackie Low are seeing areas in the letter which "imply" that someone may have leaked info.........and the letter states that it wasnt the SPFL so in her mind a finger is pointed at them. Its obvious that Budge is in a bit of a rage and sees conspiracies and threats everywhere - as evidenced by them releasing this silly wee statement before talking to their legal advisers.

  27. As I said, I prefer to avoid the smoke and mirrors. If I own the car... I can do what I wish with it. If I tire of it after, say, the new car smell wears off, I'm not stuck with it. I can do as many miles in it as I choose, without incurring a penalty. If I get ill, or I lose my job..., the car is still mine and I don't have to find the £200 a month, say, month in, and month out, for just about ever. You say 'finance'. I say debt, because that is what it is.

  28. Like Clyde fans with Goodwillie, it's an awkward position to be in and I understand why some fans will stop going and some will feel bad but go anyway. However, excusing him purely because he's now attached to the team you support is awful behaviour.

  30. Remember how Rangers were ultra seething for years, claiming they would be joining other leagues, be dismantling the league bodies, be forcing through change at every level all the time refusing to accept that their club did anything wrong? Sound familiar? Wind forward 8 years or so, and while there is still a hugely bitter streak amongst a certain section of their support and a simmering hatred at board level, what do we have? That's right, Rangers have achieved nothing, they have towed the line. "Surrendered", if you will.

  31. OK, everyone, I think I'm all set with the league tables. I've added all your medals (read the past months tables), doesn't seem to much problems, all well taken care of by @NJ2 and @Leeds Saint. Thanks a bunch to both for standing in a NO notice. We will revert back to the 3 up, 3 down and 4th in the playoff as of next week. Also we reverse back to the old QD. I believe that is fairer for the players. @Jacksgranda looked like you had won a league (check the last tables), however I looked over once and you were NOOOOwhere. Shame, was looking forward to putting an * next to your name. We will also start a new Player of the Month as from 1st July (Wednesday). All players on board and also the few who have not been posting @SlipperyP, @CaspianChris @cyderspaceman @LiviLion @Day of the Lords. Good time for all you to start posting again. One last point of order. Everyone please check the league table on Tuesday morning, make sure you all have the correct medals and team badge. There should not be any mistakes. Also, @Geaky has tried a fast one on us all and changed his name during the last 3 weeks....He will retain his medal hall from his last name of geaky. Have a good rest day as I will be coming at you. Be prepared.

  35. It has been just one week of promoting the Queens Trust and it’s got 125 members so far. It works. Not everyone is on all forms of social media or every day and quite often they vanish for people that have not been on. It is the only time of the year we do it and we have waited until the other draws were out of the way. We have been trying to keep it interesting featuring fans and videos. We will be going for a wee while yet so that we can do the best for our club and community. Hopefully we can beat last years record of 260 members. If you are able please consider joining and supporting the Trust.

  40. Can there be any problems with aiming for a 27 game season but simply starting somewhere between late August and mid September? Would give an extra four to six weeks to complete the games which might legislate for localised lockdowns/spikes in infection. Are we really going to get to a scenario where the Premiership is playing with (socially distant) crowds in August and we’re just sitting watching because we didn’t want to miss out on July’s furlough? Seems like our entire model is that October will somehow be impossible to have any crowds, Nov/Dec we might manage some socially distanced spectators before a magic wand is waved in January and all will be well. The world’s scientific community is almost unanimous that if there is another spike, it’ll come in winter - but we’re waiting until that begins before we play? The decision was made with sound reason at the time. The goalposts have now moved. I would be beyond surprised if we’re getting four or five new cases a day come October. Surely it makes sense to play while we can? Additionally there’s surely some sort of contingency plan in place about what happens if we have to cancel it. Maybe threshold of games where calling it as it is becomes default, versus null and void if we only play a certain amount of games, etc. Surely... right? Governments will be far more cautious this time. It won’t take mass death for football to be cancelled, it’ll be the very first thing to go behind closed doors at a minimum if there’s any kind of worrying rise in infections. Do we play all the season with no crowds if we have to? Or is it unaffordable so we just pack it in? A lot of questions and not really any answers. Feels like a completely avoidable fiasco is on the cards for next season to be honest.

  42. The burden of proof is on Hearts. Hearts have to provide a chain of reasoning (and suitable factual backup) to show that the SPFL's process was unlawful and unfair and warrants compensation of £10 million quid. If the SPFL or United knock one link out of that chain, they win. If United's lawyers convince the judge that, say, the outcome of the season end vote was entirely fair, it doesn't matter if Kevin Clancy, acting for the SPFL, puts on a pair of clown shoes, blows a whistle and awards a penalty to Ann Budge. The case still gets chucked.

  44. They received a copy of the petition not as a courtesy, but because the success of the Hearts / PTFC petition has implications for them financially. Regardless of how the papers arrived at these 3 clubs, the potential result for these 3 clubs is dreadful.............and anyone arguing otherwise is a fucking walloper.
