  1. I'm in a similar position though hoping I've got a good few years to go, there's no cure. Been told that my next chemo will be discussed with my Oncologist to decide the balance of benefit versus the risk of catching the virus by turning up for my treatment, but basically it's up to me. It's not about resources. Unless it's Armadeddon out there I'm going to finish my chemo and hit my bucket list, feeling perfectly fit so I want to get the treatment out of the way ASAP.

  2. Cheers guys. I'm not looking for any sympathy or such it's just so fucked up. It's also what I was expecting to hear. He was on chemo to stretch out his life a bit. He met his first granddaughter two weeks ago. It's just a shame he can't spend time with her now so hopefully we all see this out and get a bit more out of it.

  3. I've actually managed to lose respect for Unionist Twitter throughout this, which I didn't think was humanly possible. Any shared approach between UK and Scottish Governments - 'haha wee Nippy taking orders, Boris running the show, loser' Any remote divergence in approach - 'What?! Why is she using this to make Scotland seem different, disgusting!1!1!' Bunch of absolute freaks, man.

  7. It's a fair enough post that probably sums up how a lot of clubs that probably don't want to go in their heart of hearts are feeling right now, though I think it's answerable. it seems likely BIG clubs will be favoured with the rest basically fulfilling an obligation to take all on board. It has to be said here that it has been made clear from Day 1 that there would be no cherrypicking of clubs - the insistence that there would be only came from the West Region, and has since been proved false. Why? Because that's what a pyramid is...it needs to be wider at the bottom than it is at the top...creaming off the likes of Talbot, Buffs and Pollok and leaving the rest to rot wouldn't create a pyramid. As we stand some clubs haven't made official statement of their position, is there a reason? Some are probably still talking, others won't want to apply but are undoubtedly having their hand forced by the WRSJFA's very recent180 degree shift to "all-in" Is there also a reason for maintaining SJFA membership, other than the Junior cup reason as seems fiimsy. That's the reality of the situation. My club hasn't yet decided whether we'll resign from the SJFA if we're accepted into the new league, but personally I think things point towards us doing so, as retaining membership of two associations for the sake of one cup that might still disrupt the season seems as you say a flimsy reason. Initially a lot of clubs will retain membership as a sort of security blanket, though I imagine the numbers will drop year on year. Is there a potential parachute if this doesn't work as the organisations hope? No...it's largely the same clubs playing the same clubs and the leagues will look much the same as they do now after the first year...what could go so catastrophically wrong that parachute payments would be required? Some clubs will spend themselves into financial bother and will then plummet down the leagues, and the odd club might fold through lack of local interest. That's been the case with the current setup for decades and there has never been any suggestion of propping clubs up there. My fear is that Lowland will have their way and clubs known as BIG GUNS will be bedded in and the rest of us will be cast adrift. That fear flies in the face of all the evidence over in the East. It's working out well over there....another seven or eight teams are leaving the Juniors for the EoS...none of them with all due respect could be classed as big guns. More significantly, no-one's asked to come back. Are there any others with these concerns? I wouldn't be surprised. Out of the 63 current WRSJFA sides, there were 15+ who didn't express an interest in the new league, which is to any rational mind proof that they didn't want to move...even out of the ones who did express an interest there might be a few who only wanted to hear what the proposals were and have subsequently decided it wasn't for them. They are now having their hands forced into applying, and that force is coming from one direction only.

  8. Can I just point out to those few "new" readers who are involved with current SoSL clubs who have been popping in to this thread recently that most of the people (as far as I can judge) who are calling for the league to be somehow "demoted" as a result of the formation of a WoSFL do not actually appear to have anything to do with any of the current West Juniors, East Juniors, or former East Juniors now in the EoS league. This clamouring for changed status for the SoSL (and picturing it as coming from within the junior, and former junior ranks) is clearly just internet forum bollox.

  9. Exactly - no-one wants to be the kind of dick that moves into a new neighbourhood then immediately starts telling the neighbours what colour he wants them to paint their houses. If the SoS champions are good enough to win a playoff, they will. Virtually every year however they won't, so it's a non-issue to my mind what tier they're at.

  14. It's completely understandable that a pyramid in a country of very uneven population density there will be uneven leagues at the same tier. The North Caledonian League could be Tier 6 under the HL and there's no fair way around that, really. Let's just leave the SoS alone and if their champion wins a promotion play-off, they'll deserve it.

  21. I have followed this thread from it's inception and it has been a very interesting read ! As far as I remember, at the time of Threave moving back to the SoS, they were at the start or in the middle of a large spend on both the changing rooms & attached social club. Money can only be spent once so I suspect the money pot went on that rather than the team. Therefore the cost of travelling would certainly have been a factor in their decision making. This I reckon was a factor when they came up against the Kelty juggernaut ! Another issue is the size of the pool of quality players down in D & G - It is not large. Most of the quality players have at one time or another played for all three of Threave, Dalbeattie & Gretna 2008. This is before you start to include the bigger SoS teams. Probably enough to make one - maybe two really good teams but they tend to get shared with the inevitable result having teams of average quality. I have not yet seen a reason as to why some people suggest there should only be two feeders into the the LL ? Is it simply because it looks neater ?? Is it a hark back to the Junior powerhouses of East v West ?? As football goes in cycles, no team ever stays or at the top and odd results do happen so it is no great inconvience to anyone that they remain a Tier 6 league

  26. As has been stated many times during this topic you yet again assume that because the Juniors have finally and belatedly ( in some cases possibly reluctantly ) jumped on the bandwagon and have decided to join the Pyramid set up you somehow feel they can simply supersede and jump the queue in front of admittedly smaller Clubs who struggled for years to gain and keep meeting the License criteria against the odds in many cases ! These licensed teams in the South don’t have the financial muscle of your aforementioned Clubs and many , many others in the East and the new West but that doesn’t give anyone the right to overlook the incredible efforts from the respective teams trying to survive on average crowds and limited sponsorship in comparison and I for one as someone involved with such a Club feel they thoroughly deserve their opportunity to remain at Tier 6. What’s your real issue anyway because as you’re aware the chances of the SOSFL winners overcoming either the East or West in a play off are minimal at best if not borderline impossible but presumably you’d rather have multiple teams from the Central belt regions being given the opportunity to succeed at the expense of those that’s entire history lies in Senior football ?

  27. Just in Tesco there and they've introduced a one way system, which IMO is a great idea. Of course the whole idea and massive fucking arrows on the floor are still too much for the idiots of the area to comprehend who are continuing to walk wherever they please. Combine this with the fuckwits who have no sense of what 2 metres is I think that will be my last trip to the shop until this is over or I'm seriously going to lose it with someone. I fucking despise humans at times.

  28. Totally agree there still seems to be a misunderstanding among some the SoS are somehow unjustly keeping a promotion place to the LL from the larger EoS and now WoS teams. The champion of SoS has to be licenced and there are only a few clubs with that, and never likely to be many more due to the financial scale of most SoS clubs. Plus promotion to the LL for an SoS club can only ever be gained through winning a playoff with the EoS and or WoS champion, with little chance an SoS team will ever win that playoff. Even if the LL do open up to say 2 relegation/promotion spots with 1 automatic promotion spot into the LL, the SoS route would very likely still be via a playoff with the runner up of the EoS/WoS champions, and then probably the second bottom LL team. So I can't see why some people still seem to have an issue with the SoS being at tier 6.

  31. Completely incorrect. You characterise the forum as blindly believing the govt position which simply isn't true. You haven't bothered to engage with that though as it doesn't fit in with your one man against the system rambo fixation, so there is no healthy debate. Whenever anyone has tried to challenge you, or point this out, you've simply ignored them, proving that you're not here to raise questions or inspire debate, but rather to show off about which edgy websites you've been trawling in your pants this afternoon.

  32. It does make sense and in time we'll probably see the SoSL getting swallowed up by their East and West counterparts. But lets get the WoSL up and running first. The SoSL is an established league and it deserves its place in the pyramid.

  35. I've little doubt the SoS will eventually either amalgamate with the WoSFL or become a feeder to it. I think this will happen when clubs that should fall into the SoS area make it clear they would rather play in the EoS or WoS leagues and/or the bigger SoS teams decide they would rather play there like clubs like Gretna 2008 and Annan did when they went to the EoS league in times gone by. If we were setting a pyramid from scratch that would be the best fit for them but, alas, we're not. I don't think clubs and leagues which bought into and fought for a pyramid system should be demoted just because other clubs and fans, who dithered and only arrived years later grudgingly, say so. It doesn't do other clubs any harm to have to SoS remain and the SoS are happy for the timebeing.

  38. Where are you getting this stuff from? I'd really like to know. It does not seem likely in the slightest that any clubs will be favoured over others, for any reason. Why don't you ask representatives of clubs who have played or still are playing in conferences in the EOS how they're working out for them? Or you could even read the posts on the subject here, almost all of them written by fair-minded people with a keen interest in the progression of what remains (despite the undoubted negatives) our national sport? The comment about the Lowland League is actually insulting, and does you no favours, but if you genuinely want advice or answers, you're more likely to get them here than wherever you've been looking for them previously.
