  1. One really shouldn't accept everything set out in newspapers (incl the online versions) as read, never mind drawing conclusions based on that. The conversation with the journalist lasted 50 mins. It is his choice what he includes, what he leaves out and the context, order and emphasis used. For the avoidance of any doubt whatsoever, Wishaw Juniors will be submitting an application for membership of the West of Scotland League as proposed by The Lowland League.. Membership of the S.J.F.A. & W. of S. J.F.A. and previous Junior F.A. 's such as the old Scottish, Lanarkshire and Central Leagues has, down the years, provided stable environments for clubs like ourselves to operate and serve our communities, particularly in recent years throughout periods of significant social and economic change. We look forward to the West of Scotland League serving that same function and to meeting old friends, making new ones and to facing new challenges.

  3. I accidentally started ‘following’ this thread last night. Whenever a post is made, I receive an email. My inbox is an absolute travesty now. A terrible start to the day.

  4. Pal of ma wife's got her son (older end of primary school) up this morning and told him the schools were back on. Got him ready, breakfast, bag packed, school uniform, packed lunch and sent him out the door.... She let him get to the end of the driveway before shouting April Fool and calling him back!

  6. My wife is an NHS worker. Phoned in sick this morning at 9am, was tested at 11:20 was given a diagnosis at 3pm so I'm at least reassured that key workers can get the tests. In case anyone is worried she is fine just like a really bad flu. She mostly sleeps. Both of us had symptoms we convinced ourselves weren't Corona because they didn't quite match up. No fever, very mild cough and the main feature was fatigue like a stinking flu and we have both had loss of tastebuds. So now I'm sure I have had it too and come out the other side I should be allowed to go for pints when we come out of the fortnights isolation.

  7. Has anyone mentioned the epl clubs applying for the 80%furlogh payments for employees - whilst players are still being paid their astronomical salaries? Tottenham, Newcastle (surprise surprise), and Norwich. It's a staggering lack of awareness, and i hope there's a serious backlash. Absolute c***s.

  9. If we copied everything rugby did then we'd have no fans at our games and all the players would be drinking each other's piss.

  10. Utter fuckwits who can't get their head around why they're making space in hospitals can't lose, apart from maybe dying a horrible death. If social isolation works and capacity doesn't get overwhelmed, they'll say told you so, what was all all the fuss about. If it doesn't and there are folk dying without care in the corridors, they'll say told you so, social isolation was a waste of time, as they cough their last breath.

  11. Noone I know is accepting what they say without question. They're lying about tests, they're lying about what they were up to in February, they're lying about ventilators, they're lying about a lot. Blindly trusting what the government say is exactly the same as blindly accepting what anti-vaxxer websites say and C&Ping their content willy nilly on forums. You're not even passing comment, just parroting their theories: no different at all to parroting what the govt are saying.

  14. Stop quoting the guy. He’s all but ruined the thread as it is. I’d be worried if anyone was logging on to Pie and Bovril for advice, but there are nuggets of good information and experiences in this thread that just get frittered away by his continuous trolling.

  16. Currently at tier 7 in the EoSFL, there are 9 Licensed sides out of 24 (or will be once rubber stamped at the next SFA AGM). Three of them came from the East Juniors, Dunipace, Easthouses and Haddington just two years ago. Those clubs showed ambition to progress, improve their facilities and embrace what the pyramid offered. Alongside them are a mix of similarly ambitious ex junior clubs who are still progressing their licence, such as Dalkeith, Oakley, Edinburgh Utd and St Andrews. Others such as Glenrothes, Kinnoull and Arniston may choose to go down the licence route or they may not. If they don't, then they can still be promoted to the EOS Premier League at Tier 6. No side has been "cast adrift" or left behind in any other way. The 8 new ex-East Junior applicants to the EOSFL for next season will join at Tier 7. Each of them will find their level (at tier 6, 7 or 8.) after just one season, but ultimately it will be up to each club how they embrace the new league. If they are comfortable at that level then great. The EOSFL allows clubs to operate at a level that matches their ambitions, but they will still have access to the various competitions that will allow them to face the "Big Guns" with the luck of the draw.

  18. Not testing NHS workers means staff are self isolating for 14 days because of any Corona-like symptoms in their households; rather than the right people staying off for the right amount of time. Widespread NHS staff testing would obviously reduce overall absences, compared to having some people off unnecessarily and others coming in and unknowingly infecting colleagues left and right. As with most things, the possibility that someone has made a bit of an arse of it is more plausible than some wacky theory that isn't even logical to begin with.

  21. My wife was also shouted at by a woman in Aldi. With us both being emergency services and having no childcare when im working she has the wee man and i take him to let her go to work. This means she has to take him out with her. Some auld dear took exception to this and started screaming at her. Its completely shattered the wife, although pretty much everyone around told the old arsehole to fcuk off its knocked her confidence. My wife’s been working extra hours, no extra pay, even when she should be off she’s still doing work and is up every night doing remote access and entitled p***ks think they are some kind of moral authority. Absolutely raging at the behaviour of people.

  26. Highland league is just a name nothing more or should Aberdeen teams also not be in there? In reality it’s the northern Scotland league and Dundee should 100% be in it, keep shoving more teams in the Lowland League and you might as well scrap the boundary altogether as it’ll virtually be a national league travel wise for borders teams. Edinburgh/ Glasgow (LL) Aberdeen, Inverness and Dundee (HL)

  27. Best thing about this Jerry Cole poster is not the boring, contrarian Brendan O'Neill cut and pastes or the links to dodgy anti vaxxer sites, but the (must reply to everything) 'I know you are, but what am I' patter when someone has a pop. Exactly what this thread needs imo.

  28. As far as I can see this has been the issue with the SJFA’s stance here. I could be wrong, but the new league was set up on an application basis to allow only the teams who wanted to move the opportunity, and allow teams who wanted to stay that chance as well? However, the “all in or nothing at all” approach has sent out the wrong message in my opinion.

  30. I see from the Herald this morning that the timing of the "UK Government lockdown" has contributed to a lower mortality rate in Scotland. It seems a long time ago that Boris was bantering us about Scotland cancelling mass gatherings, with folk getting very upset about Sturgeon not waiting for the mumbleclown's go ahead to start shutting stuff down. The handling of the situation up here has been far from perfect imo but we're in a much better position than we would have been without a devolved Government. The devolved administrations being involved in Cobra has probably saved lives in England too.

  33. Precisely...and there were 15-20 clubs who never expressed an interest in it, which to my mind suggests those clubs had no intentions of moving over....unfortunately there will now be a good few clubs who will feel they have been press-ganged into moving. The SJFA "all-in" stance seems to be only as a result of a daft non-binding show of hands at the SJFA meeting which wasn't unanimous anyway!

  34. This is the worry - it's abundantly clear some teams still clearly DON'T want to move, and things may have been better had there been some sort of rump West Region for those teams to remain in. With 63 teams to take into consideration, it's clear that one size does not fit all, and it may have been better if the new league had been comprised of willing and enthusiastic entrants without a substratum of clubs who will have to all intents and purposes been dragged there by their heels.
